Monthly Doula check-ins in your home or via zoom (clients choice). The last check-in before 37 weeks is spent prepping nutrient-dense meals & snacks for you to have ready during your postpartum period. (3 hours in the client's home) During your prenatal check-ins, we will discuss navigating nutrition and simple meal prepping, birth wishlist, labor positions & comfort measures, touch on your visits with your provider and go over any questions or concerns you may have. I pull from my extensive background in strength and nutrition coaching to guide you through the healthiest pregnancy possible and to help you troubleshoot nutrition & self-care challenges during the immediate postpartum period. In-home postpartum visit (4 hours) includes a nourishing home-cooked meal and support so you may shower and rest. I will hold space for you to discuss your birth story if you wish and to process any emotions you are having.

Courtney was wonderful as our doula. My husband and I were very nervous and had lots of questions. This is our first baby and we weren’t sure what to expect. Courtney was with us every step of the way and I’m so thankful we had her.

I hired Jessica to be my birth doula for my second daughter. I had PTSD from a bad birth experience with my first child, so I wanted a doula the second time around for emotional support. Jessica was amazing throughout the whole birth experience. She used pain relief techniques that made a profound difference and brought a calming presence that really transformed the whole birth experience from scary to sacred and special. We later got help from Jessica for sleep consulting and postpartum doula work which was also very helpful. I definitely recommend working with Jessica!

In the 12 years I have been a birth worker, my doula bag has become quite small. I have learned through experience, the families I have supported and the providers I have been a team player with, that there are only a few items really needed to support your birth preferences. Knowledge in the physiology of hormones, movement, space, emotions and breath. Experience in medical interventions and helping you to have productive conversations with your providers when they are needed, skill in comfort measures and massage (my hands are so strong:), and authentic words of encouragement, praise, and affirmation. I am best fit for a person who is wanting no or low interventions (in or out of the hospital): a VBAC or a free birth. My goal is to empower you and your labor partner so you can both be present in the event and have your best birth experience possible.

Care philosophy

Getting baby Earth side can be long, hard, powerful... and you can do it! I believe there is no right way to birth your baby. My philosophy is "Every pregnant person has the right to full informed consent, evidence based information, access to preferred model of care and support in decisions without cohesion or judgment."

From the moment we first spoke to Ryah we knew that she was the perfect fit as our Doula – she is incredibly warm, has such an extensive background, and food is one of her love languages! We had two prenatal appointments in which we discussed our birth preferences, learned stretches to do leading up to my due date, and practiced different techniques to try during early labor. She was also always available to reach via text or phone throughout my pregnancy.

Ryah was the most crucial person in helping my husband and I bring our baby earth side. She guided me through each contraction and continuously helped me stay centered and find my breath. She made suggestions of positions to try based on where the baby was to keep things progressing. She made sure my husband played an integral part in the experience and conveyed our birth preferences to the nursing staff. I ended up having an unmedicated birth, and I know this was only possible because she was there with me.

Once my baby was born, she helped him latch and stayed by my side to ensure that everything was okay. Since being home we’ve had a phone and in-person chat in which we processed my labor experience, and she made sure we were set up for the first few weeks postpartum. I am grateful that she is available throughout the 4th trimester! Aside from providing immeasurable support, she also took photos and video during labor which is the most special thing to look back on.

We are forever grateful to have found Ryah!

I was called to birth work over 20 years ago, after assisting the arrival of my youngest sister. Birth is a human right, and I believe all humans deserve a safe and supported birth. I began my doula training in 2017 with ToLabor. I had my first child in 2019, with a doula by my side and it cemented my desire to support other laboring persons on their path. I am certified with PALS as of 2021, and ToLabor as of 2022. I am married and have 2 children. One was a birth center transferred to the hospital pre labor and the other was born at home in a tub. I h a p p i l y support any and all birth scenarios. I am fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19. Prenatal Care: 2+ visits to answer questions, review or create birth preferences, go over comfort measures, set up a postpartum plan, share resources and get to know each other. I'm available your entire pregnancy via phone/text/email. Labor/Birth: I will be on call 24/7 2 weeks prior to your EDD and until you go into labor. Once I join you, I will be a continuous support physically and emotionally through your entire labor (barring any extraordinary circumstances). Post Partum: I will visit 2-3 times (more can be arranged) to ensure your needs are being met, you are feeling supported & connect you with any resources you need. I'm available as much as you need those first few weeks! You can visit www.goldenbirthdoula.com to learn more. Reach out to schedule a free consult!

Care philosophy

My passion is education and sharing evidence based resources with a particular heart for post partum planning/support. I want you to be an active participant in your own pregnancy/labor, and provide you with everything you need to make informed decisions and feel powerful in this process. My support is for both the birthing person AND a birth partner.

She is dedicated to ensuring that those around are comfortable and cared for, and that they have the necessary information and resources. She asks great questions and seeks deeper understanding. Cynthia supported the birth of my 4th baby during the pandemic in 2020. At the time I was couch surfing with my 3 older kids and was planning to have a home birth. Things were scary and unknown but when Cynthia became my doula, I felt a safe. She did everything in her power to support me and my wishes. Cynthia provided appointments and information prior to birth. Showed up as a strong and steady force at my birth. Supported me postpartum with meals, encapsulating my placenta, making postpartum tinctures, meals. Etc. I recommend her services to everyone I know. She cares deeply about her clients and supporting women to achieve their dream birth.

I am a trained birth doula through the Simkin Center at Bastyr University and am working towards my certification through DONA International. I have 10 years of experience in the pre & post natal fitness industry, where I gained extensive knowledge of the anatomy as well as physical changes that occur throughout each stage of pregnancy, and postpartum considerations after delivery. I'm passionate about supporting moms, through the entire process of becoming a parent, from conception, to birth, and beyond. Being invited into the room during your labor and delivery is truly an honor and a privilege. I strive to have each of my clients feel heard, seen, and leave feeling confident that they had the birth experience they wanted, even if it ends up looking different than planned.

Care philosophy

For my 3rd birth I decided to hire a doula. I knew Hilary had extensive knowledge in prenatal and postnatal fitness. She has supported moms in all stages of motherhood through the FIT4MOM programs. I knew she was a perfect match for what I was looking for in a doula. I’m even more thankful she was there during my labor. She provided me with all the support I needed to get me through a difficult labor that didn’t go as planned. She provided me the strength I needed with her words of encouragement and didn’t leave my side the whole time. Her 3 day follow up, when she came to my house to check on me and baby was so helpful. It allowed me the opportunity to talk about my birth experience and how I perceived it. She was able to tell me about her point of view and helped me change my mindset to make me feel powerful and strong. Thank you so much for all your support through my pregnancy, labor and beyond!

Over the past 17 years I have supported over 300 births and including many clients for several births. In addition to being a birth doula, I am a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator and am the immediate past president of the Lamaze International Board of Directors. When not supporting families in person, I bring childbirth education to the world on YouTube and have a growing channel there with 1 million + views and nearly 300 videos. As a birth doula, I provide 1 scheduled prenatal appointment and then add additional appointments as needed. My service is customized for your needs. I serve families birthing in hospitals, birth centers and having home births.

Alice was the perfect doula for me. She is a consummate professional: reliable, knowledgeable, warm, supportive, confident, all around great. She is your advocate, coach and teammate all at the same time. My birthing experience didn’t go as I expected, but Alice helped me navigate the twists and turns with encouragement and non-judgmental support. When I had to make tough decisions, her guidance gave me the confidence to know I was making the best choices for myself and my baby. My experience would have been exponentially more stressful for myself and my partner if she had not been there. I am so grateful she was part of my daughter’s birth.

My hope is that you come away from birth more bonded and connected.

I've always had a passion for helping others, and my own complicated journey to parenthood sparked the fire to help others have the best possible experience in their own. Through my personal experiences with bereavement and infertility, I developed a special interest in helping people going through more uncommon circumstances. I'm especially drawn to help people that regular society tends to overlook or frown on, so my greatest heart work is with POC, the LGBTQ+ community, and teens who may be lacking adequate parental support. I also offer abortion support.

Care philosophy

I believe that all pregnant people deserve compassionate care and support, regardless of race, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or economic status. A healthy baby starts with a healthy and supported pregnancy and birth.

Doula Services: FAQs

A doula is a professional that provides emotional, physical and educational support to new parents before, during, and after childbirth and into the early postpartum period. Doulas are companions who strive to give families a safe, positive, and healthy labor experience. They provide parents with evidence-based information and education on childbirth and are someone who the parent can turn to with questions and concerns about having a baby. Doulas also take an active role in collaborating with the parent to create a birth plan.

A certified birth doula offers advice and techniques to help reduce the stress that the parent often experiences during childbirth and provides you with education about different aspects of delivery and labor and what comes after.

There are two ways you can hire a doula through Meela in Marysville, WA.

You can browse through the available doulas in Marysville, WA and send the doulas you are interested in a message, introducing yourself and setting up an interview. We recommend interviewing at least three before hiring your top doula.

You can also hire a doula in Marysville, WA in three easy steps:

  1. Post a job for free: answer some questions and receive responses from top-rated doulas in Marysville, WA. It takes less than 30 seconds to post your job.
  1. Get your list of Marysville, WA doulas: in a few hours, you will have a collection of doulas near you who are qualified to meet your needs. You can compare pricing, experience and read reviews. You can chat with each doula to learn more about them.
  1. Hire a doula with confidence: schedule virtual or in-person interviews with your top doula choices. Hire your top doula and start getting the care you deserve.

While the cost of a doula can vary based on experience and the services offered, the average cost of a doula in Marysville, WA is NA, but typically ranges from NA to NA. These costs are based on a representative group of doulas surveyed by Meela in the Marysville and Seattle areas. The average cost of a doula in Marysville, WA is higher than the average cost of a doula in the state of Washington, which is $1,037.

To put this in further context, the cost of a doula in Marysville, WA is NA the U.S. national average cost of a doula, which is $971.

When hiring a birth doula in Marysville, WA, you and your doula will discuss and agree upon a fee structure, and your doula will send you itemized invoices through Meela, which you can pay securely through the app.

Some insurance companies will cover all or part of the cost of hiring a doula. Contact your insurance company to find out if they offer any coverage for hiring a doula; not all insurance companies do.

You can hire two types of doulas in Marysville, WA: a birth doula and a postpartum doula. The birth doula is during your pregnancy and through the birth of your child. They provide you with emotional, physical and educational support during your pregnancy, your labor and delivery and for the first few hours after your child is born.

A postpartum doula will support you for the first few weeks after the baby is born. They provide in-home assistance, including teaching you how to take care of your newborn, acting as lactation consultant, and can provide some night nanny services.

Yes, a birth doula can provide support during a Cesarean birth and delivery. Doulas are non-medical professionals and do not replace obstetricians, physicians, midwives or nurses. They are an additive member to the team and provide emotional, physical and informational support to the birthing parent, partner and family. It is up to you whether the certified doula can remain in the operating room during the procedure.

When you hire a doula in Marysville, WA, your services typically include several in-person prenatal sessions, 24/7 phone and text support, full attendance throughout your labor, and several hours of support immediately following your birth.

A doula in Marysville, WA can help you in any kind of birth. Certified doulas are able to assist parents in creating the ideal “birth environment” and help parents deliver their baby safely. A doula can provide support during the birth whether it occurs in a hospital, a home, or another birth center of some kind. Doulas are there to support you in your desired birth preferences, whether that is a preference for natural, non-medicated, assisted, C-section or anything else.

Certified doulas can also act as a liaison between you and hospital staff regarding your childbirth expectations and preferences. For example, if your preference is to have a non-medicated birth, a doula can help guide you through that process and create a personalized birth plan. A certified doula in Marysville, WA does not replace medical staff (such as your obstetrician and nurses).

When a surgical procedure is required, there are some situations in which a birth doula can also remain in the operating room, although this is not an expected obligation. A certified birth doula can also assist hospital staff to improve the overall birthing experience. A doula in Marysville, WA will typically stay with the parents for several hours after birth to help them with birth recovery.

Evidence suggests that a birth doula in Marysville, WA can help improve parent satisfaction with their baby’s birth and delivery. The involvement of a doula can also lead to shorter deliveries with less complications.

Recent studies show that parents who have a support person like a doula by their side throughout labor and childbirth are more likely to:

  1. Give birth without the need for pain medicine
  2. Describe their birth experience in a positive way
  3. Give birth without the need for medical intervention, such as C-sections or vacuum delivery
  4. Experience a shorter labor

You can hire a doula early in your pregnancy to allow you time to get to know each other and to begin planning for your later trimesters, labor, birth, and aftercare. It is ideal to hire a doula when you are around 20 weeks along, but you can start looking for one before that.

It is never too late to hire a doula in Marysville, WA; you have right up to your due date to find a doula near you and receive all the benefits of doula support.

While many people think that a doula and a midwife are the same thing, their educational background and job duties are different. Doulas are non-medical professionals who provide emotional, physical and educational support, while also offering actionable advice and guidance to new parents about how to nurture their baby.

A midwife is a certified nurse-midwife (CNM) or a certified midwife (CM). CNMs are medical professionals that are certified and licensed by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. CMs are also certified, but they do not have nursing backgrounds.

Doulas are not medical professionals; they focus on the emotional support for the parents and the family before, during, and after the birth of the baby. Their job is to provide information, advice, and support to the family not diagnose any medical conditions or provide medical advice.
