Wow, Parenthood is a wild ride!! The early weeks-months can be incredibly challenging and stressful, not to mention emotionally and physically exhausting! Bring a mama of two myself and a previous nanny, I’ve experienced the highs/lows, and I know how difficult and trying life can be during such vulnerable times, and I’m so happy to get the opportunity to offer gentle, loving support to families. Postpartum, sibling support/care, meals, light housekeeping, breastfeeding support, overnights with babes, daytime care. Friend, mama, sister ♥️

Care philosophy

Non judgmental, open minded, client focused care. Gentle, kind, lighthearted, and nurturing.

Wow! I honestly believe I would not have been able to have a Vbac without Amina! She EMPOWERED me. I took a birthing class with her, and then I requested her as a Doula! She did NOT disappoint. She was encouraging, calm, reliable, informative- and during my labor, she helped call me down and guide me the entire time. She was right by my side bringing me sips of water and snacks. My husband and I credit her completely. During my labor, my husband forgot everything we practiced, haha. But Amina saved the day. She’s one of my favorite people in the world. She’s wise, non judgmental, just absolutely wonderful. I am so grateful. She was reliable to show up and not wait till the last minute to come to me during my labor. I’m so grateful for her kindness and responsiveness. She offered sliding scale (because we literally could not have hired anyone without it). She was very very good to us. THANK YOU AMINA for making my VBAC possible! You are forever etched into my memories, and have changed the course of my birthing history forever. Thank you Doesn’t cover it. We LOVE Amina!

Rose Smith has been my doula for both my births. I first came to meet her through her exceptional childbirth educational course, and due to her passion, genuine care, and knowledge I immediately retained her as our doula not fully understanding how her involvement would help me through childbirth. On the big day she was accessible, supportive, and helpful in guiding us on next steps. At one point in the the midst of my labor she could sense my fear and confusion, without missing a beat she guided me to refocus, showed me how to reclaim my calm, and encouraged me that I could do this. It was that level of care that made it so simple to have her with me at my second birth. There she was again with the same level of care and support for our family again. If you are looking for someone who cares, is knowledgeable, and will support you then Rose Smith is a wonderful choice on one if the biggest days of your life.

In the 12 years I have been a birth worker, my doula bag has become quite small. I have learned through experience, the families I have supported and the providers I have been a team player with, that there are only a few items really needed to support your birth preferences. Knowledge in the physiology of hormones, movement, space, emotions and breath. Experience in medical interventions and helping you to have productive conversations with your providers when they are needed, skill in comfort measures and massage (my hands are so strong:), and authentic words of encouragement, praise, and affirmation. I am best fit for a person who is wanting no or low interventions (in or out of the hospital): a VBAC or a free birth. My goal is to empower you and your labor partner so you can both be present in the event and have your best birth experience possible.

Care philosophy

Getting baby Earth side can be long, hard, powerful... and you can do it! I believe there is no right way to birth your baby. My philosophy is "Every pregnant person has the right to full informed consent, evidence based information, access to preferred model of care and support in decisions without cohesion or judgment."

From the moment we first spoke to Ryah we knew that she was the perfect fit as our Doula – she is incredibly warm, has such an extensive background, and food is one of her love languages! We had two prenatal appointments in which we discussed our birth preferences, learned stretches to do leading up to my due date, and practiced different techniques to try during early labor. She was also always available to reach via text or phone throughout my pregnancy.

Ryah was the most crucial person in helping my husband and I bring our baby earth side. She guided me through each contraction and continuously helped me stay centered and find my breath. She made suggestions of positions to try based on where the baby was to keep things progressing. She made sure my husband played an integral part in the experience and conveyed our birth preferences to the nursing staff. I ended up having an unmedicated birth, and I know this was only possible because she was there with me.

Once my baby was born, she helped him latch and stayed by my side to ensure that everything was okay. Since being home we’ve had a phone and in-person chat in which we processed my labor experience, and she made sure we were set up for the first few weeks postpartum. I am grateful that she is available throughout the 4th trimester! Aside from providing immeasurable support, she also took photos and video during labor which is the most special thing to look back on.

We are forever grateful to have found Ryah!

With the traumatic birth of my son, I became intimately familiar with how American healthcare fails people with the capacity for pregnancy. Having lacked support or education of any kind during the process, I now seek to guide clients through a far more positive experience, one that aligns with both the wants of the birthing-person as well as the health of parent and child. I am currently enrolled in Whole Body Pregnancy Childbirth Educator Training, as well as Childbirth Professionals International Doula Training. Having prior experience in doula work and successful births under my belt, I plan to continue my education to grow and better their understanding of the field.

Care philosophy

I believe birth is sacred, a gift given by our ancestors that deserves the utmost care and respect. My focus is to serve those that are the most vulnerable to the harm caused by our medical system, which includes people of the global majority, queer and trans parents, and disabled parents. I have a trans son, and another son born to a trans father. Families are diverse. Birth is no different.

Sage was my primary support while giving birth to my son. As a transman, the concept of giving birth in a traditional hospital setting was honestly kind of terrifying. Sage helped to keep me comfortable, keep labor going, and keep the staff from misgendering or dead naming me. I don’t plan to have any more kids, but if I do, I hope she’s there.

I am a Certified Lactation Counselor and Birth/Postpartum doula, in part because of my own experiences. I found myself unfulfilled in other fields of work because I was ignoring what I was called to do. I had a myriad of pregnancy issues, including loss, high risk medical complications, postpartum mood disorder, PTSD, and breastfeeding challenges. Like many families, we could not find the right resources, despite looking and asking for help. I don't want another person to fall through the cracks like I did. We all benefit from having compassionate, non-judgmental help in the process of starting or adding to our families, and it brings me immense satisfaction to be that person for others.

Care philosophy

I believe that every person has the right to a safe, respectful, and empowering experience when starting or adding to their family-whether through adoption, fertility treatments, or birth. This should be provided no matter their race, religion, beliefs, economic status, disability status, sexual or gender identity. I am committed to providing personalized care that is tailored to each individual.

I spent all of my twenties working as a nanny, with many of those years specializing in infant care. I feel excited about transforming my knowledge and experience into a resource to work with new parents. During lockdown I trained as a Certified Lactation Educator and with DONA International in order to move in the direction of full time doula work. While I am always learning my years working in the homes of young families has taught me a lot about the specific challenges and joys of the transition into parenthood and I feel deeply passionate about witnessing, normalizing, and supporting that process. I am a full spectrum, trauma informed, and gender affirming doula. I deeply value reproductive and economic justice and sliding scale services are available.

Care philosophy

I hope to enter your care team by helping you to have the best possible birth experience via the path that will best suit you and your family. I strive to help you clear that path! As a doula I serve as an emotional, educational, and physical support. At the core I believe birth is a normal healthy process, albeit a transformative one, and your body is going to get you there.

I have a degree in psychology, and have spent the past year growing my understanding of all things childbirth. As an infant nanny, I have extensive experience in individualizing care families need postpartum, and what methods work best for each baby and family dynamic. I continue these tenants in my birthwork, and spend ample time both pre and post birth connecting with families to make sure they can access the support they need. I have supported home birth, birth center birth, and hospital birth, and am very comfortable in all settings. I am also a Certified Lactation Educator, and am passionate about educating and supporting parents in their infant feeding journey. I offer two prenatals, full labor and birth presence, and two visits postparum. This way, I know my clients well before we are working together in labor, and have lots of time to talk over things and set up support after baby is born.

Care philosophy

As a birthworker, I see myself as part of a team. I work with my client, their family, and their medical team, to assure they have a safe and supportive environment to birth their baby. As humans, we are not meant to go through pregnancy, birth, or postpartum on our own, and I am so honored to be a part of any family's village. Birth support should not be a privilege, but a right.

Mia brings a light into any room she is in. Working alongside her, I have seen her patience, dedication, and love for each family she has had the privilege to work with. Mia has taken it upon herself to fill her toolbox with as many resources as she can to support her families before, during, and after the birth and have even seen her come to a client’s home with hands-on items to help the family visualize various situations and methods. I often refer clients to her that need a sisterly hand in the process of birth, as well as families with a little more anxiety and special needs. Her communication and response time is top notch and works amazingly with us postpartum doulas. I am always honoured to work alongside her and and excited for each and every family that she walks the path of birth with.

Cynthia supported the birth of my 4th baby during the pandemic in 2020. At the time I was couch surfing with my 3 older kids and was planning to have a home birth. Things were scary and unknown but when Cynthia became my doula, I felt a safe. She did everything in her power to support me and my wishes. Cynthia provided appointments and information prior to birth. Showed up as a strong and steady force at my birth. Supported me postpartum with meals, encapsulating my placenta, making postpartum tinctures, meals. Etc. I recommend her services to everyone I know. She cares deeply about her clients and supporting women to achieve their dream birth.

Lactation Consultant: FAQs

A certified lactation consultant is a professional that helps parents address and solve their breastfeeding problems. Many new parents believe that breastfeeding is easy, only to find more obstacles than anticipated. 92% of parents say they are having problems with breastfeeding their new baby within only 3 days.

Nursing doesn’t always come naturally.

Breastfeeding can be overwhelming and all-consuming. A lactation consultant in Marysville, WA can identify issues such as low milk supply, latching problems, or nipple engorgement. They also offer advice and techniques to help parents understand existing issues, improve how they read their baby’s cues, and feel empowered about breastfeeding despite existing social norms.

You should contact your insurance company for more information.

Here are some factors to consider regarding insurance and your lactation consultant cost:

  • Your insurance provider
  • Your individual health plan
  • The type of lactation specialist
  • The specific service provided

Meela’s network of lactations specialists in Marysville, WA offer both in-home lactation support sessions or virtual lactation support sessions. Both types of sessions typically last between 1 and 3 hours. In your sessions, your lactation specialist will spend time understanding the issues you are facing and work with you and your baby to diagnose the issues have and also provide specific guidance and hands-on practice and exercises.

Lactation consultants help parents understand the best way to comfortably breastfeed their baby and help them navigate breastfeeding social norms. They can also help reduce stress and anxiety about breastfeeding, or help with specific challenges (such as breastfeeding twins, for example). Other parents might just want emotional support that doesn’t currently exist within their family, workplace, or network or friends.

Certified lactation consultants can also help with specialized issues that may arise with premature children or sick children. A parent may not have thought about breastfeeding help until they notice that their baby isn’t gaining weight properly, and finally realize that they might need some support and knowledge before continuing to breastfeed. On the other hand, some parents might prepare with a lactation consultant months before the baby is born.

Whether you are planning ahead or are thinking about a lactation now that you are having breastfeeding issues or concerns, a lactation consultant can be incredibly helpful and useful for parents.

These lactation consultants are certified by the International Board of Certified Lactation Consultants, as well. A lactation consultant typically has a bachelor’s degree in a health field and has undergone 90 hours of training and has somewhere between 300 and 1,000 hours of experience with parents.

Lactation consultants in Marysville, WA are often working with other healthcare teams in collaboration with postpartum nurses to ensure that parents understand how to breastfeed their babies. Both lactation consultants and lactation counselors can provide support, develop feeding plans, and offer actionable advice with respect to breastfeeding.

The best approach is for parents to hire a lactation specialist early in their pregnancy so that they can help you prepare both mentally and physically. Parents don’t need to wait until your baby is born to begin thinking about breastfeeding support and education.

Some parents might be anxious about breastfeeding in public or feel like they want access to a breastfeeding expert to help both inform and support them. A lactation consultant in Marysville, WA can also help young professional parents schedule their breastfeeding efficiently so that they can return to work quicker, while others might specialize in helping with breastfeeding anxiety issues.

It is never too late to hire a certified lactation consultant in Marysville, WA. These breastfeeding consultants can also offer emotional breastfeeding support that can be valuable to those who lack family or workplace support. A lactation consultant can also be critical in identifying warning signs that might indicate more serious growth or developmental issues.

There are many documented benefits to breastfeeding, and parents often believe that it will be an easy and natural experience. Unfortunately, many parents run into issues such as low milk supply, nipple engorgement, or latching problems that can affect their baby’s health. These lactation specialists can be useful for troubleshooting, advice, or emotional support.

Certified lactation consultants can strengthen the bond between parents and their babies through breastfeeding advice, tips, and support. This might include showing parents how to help their baby latch properly, establishing feeding schedules, or dealing with sore nipples or engorgement. A lactation consultant can help new parents better understand their baby’s needs in general, and monitor the baby’s growth and development.

Lactation specialists in Marysville, WA also offer emotional support and help parents breastfeed more efficiently so that they can get back to work and allow them to better manage expectations. Many parents face issues where they cannot breastfeed in the workplace, or do not have the family support or time to ensure that their child is breastfed properly and with care. These expert consultants can also provide a significant amount of moral support, diagnose breastfeeding issues, while also solving issues such as latching, positioning, and scheduling.
