I got started because I realized how little help the average family has when it comes to life with a newborn. I want to be a support system to those who need it and help them succeed at parenting. I am a full spectrum doula which means I offer labor and birth support, postpartum support, and reproductive health support. I also provide bereavement or loss support. I am an advocate for you, for your voice to be heard, and for you to have the most research and evidence-based information possible when it comes to making decisions for you and your family.

Care philosophy

I am passionate about helping people into parenthood, whether that be for the first time or not. Bringing a new addition into the family can be an exciting time. It can also be a stressful and overwhelming time too. I know how hard it can be not to have your "village" and that's why I became a doula. I want to give you all the tools you need to feel like you are rocking this new journey.

My goal as a doula is to empower parents to have the birth and postpartum experience they desire, as well as guide and educate them through the process in order to demystify pregnancy, labor, delivery, & postpartum.

Care philosophy

I believe birth is one of the most natural processes the human body can experience. Our bodies were designed to create, carry, and then bring new life into the world. The human body inherently knows & understands how to go through the process of birth – both as the one giving birth, and the one being birthed. This beautiful and natural design of the labor and delivery process should be celebrated.

Amanda is an amazing mama of two littles, and really owned her pregnancy, birth, and motherhood journey beautifully. She offers both humility and confidence in her work, and seems to have a natural instinct when it comes to birth and postpartum.

I am a full spectrum doula, herbalist and student of holistic nutrition. A doula can not only provide you with the evidence based information you need to make an informed decision about your birth, your story, your baby and your life... a doula is also a witness to your experience, a person who holds space for all your emotions, holds your hand when you feel defeated and celebrates in your joy. Holding your birth vision and preferences as priority, a doula is guaranteed emotional, physical & educational support during the grand initiation into your new life. Postpartum is a time for (re)learning and discovering the new life before you! This is a time to heal and be cared for as you focus on nurturing your baby. As a postpartum doula, I like to focus on mothering the mother. Caring for the person who brought the sweet babe earthside supports the family unit for years to come & has significant effects on the mothers long term health. I was led to birth work about 5 years ago through my interests in women's health, nutrition, and herbalism.

Care philosophy

With evidence based, non-biased, compassionate companionship at the center, my goal is to contribute to your feeling of safety & self empowerment on the journey to rebirth, pregnancy, labor and transition into parenthood.

My name is Dawneshia, I am a mother to five children, wife and I’ve always had a passion to empower and educate others around me. I’ve worked in education for 12 years within my community and that include in after school setting as well as the school day setting. I’ve always strived to be the difference in the lives of youth that I worked with and most recently in the lives of women, mothers and their families during such a beautiful moment in their life. I began my training as a doula in 2020 6 months after I gave birth to my then youngest child. During that pregnancy I found my voice, exercised my right to choose who I received care from and where. I had my first VBAC water birth and it was so empowering for me. I felt led to go forth and apply for all scholarships available so that I could begin my training as soon as possible. I received 2 scholarships that year and my 3rd scholarship I received was in the spring of 2021 as I continued my education to obtain more knowledge because in the birth world you always want to stay up to date on your education. I recently gave birth to my 5th child and my 2nd VBAC this year. During my 5th pregnancy I supported women during the pregnancy, labor and birth and it was an amazing feeling to see them feel so confident and empowered during their pregnancy as well as their labor and birth.

Care philosophy

Supporting and empowering women and mothers in my community to thrive.

    When you know, you know!
I virtually met 3 doulas before connecting with Dawniesha and I knew once I hung up from the zoom SHE WAS IT!!
I’m so blessed that another local doula suggested I contact her and see if we’d be a good fit!
She is caring, a gentle leader, well educated and was totally aligned with my natural, earth-centered birth goals!
There is no way I could have made it through my 24hour unmedicated birth center labor and delivery without her guidance, friendship, prayer and push (literally pushing my hips together as they felt like they were splitting in half during contractions!)
Her postpartum care was just as thorough, attentive and loving as her prenatal.
I learned so much about nutrition, pain management/relief, bath herbs, healing teas, how to advocate for myself with my birth plan,
tips on asking for help from my partner and family..as well as affirmations and encouragement I’m still receiving till this day!!
She took so much pressure off of my partner during labor and was a constant source of info, stress relief, joy and laughter for me every step of the way.
If you are pregnant or planning, reach out to her.. No way you’ll regret it! Blessings

I have attended over 1000 births. My goal is to support the "unit" which means the couple. I'm the support of the laboring mom and her coach, and anyone else invited to the process. I had three children myself, one in the hospital and two at home. I participated in the Kaiser Research Project on Doulas in the l990s. I was certified during that study and later became certified with DONA, which I've keep current for 2 decades. My website describes my services, www.cyndidoula.net and for reviews, please see my Yelp profile, https://www.yelp.com/biz/cyndis-doula-service-sacramento-2 I want families to leave their births feeling they had the information they needed to make their best decisions.

Care philosophy

I started attending births in 1986. My goal was to help families have cherished birth memories Helping a couple understand labor as they navigate those waters was my focus over the years. I care that families feel supported and listened to during a birth. It matters to me that you feel you have a voice in the process.

Hello! I am Melody Brown. I started Labour of Love in order to create and support a holistically positive-support process for those moving toward future birthing, child rearing, and all of the emotional/psychological support frameworks one might need regardless of your birthing outcome. Through my own process of pregnancy, I encountered many painful and powerfully uplifting moments. Through my birthing and postpartum experience… and then the loss of multiple pregnancies, I have been brought full circle with great desire and passion to get involved with birth work.

Care philosophy

To support birthing people and their families in pregnancy, birth and postpartum by empowering them to make informed, confident choices for themselves and their babies; all while helping them achieve the best possible outcome for their birth.

Doula Services: FAQs

A doula is a professional that provides emotional, physical and educational support to new parents before, during, and after childbirth and into the early postpartum period. Doulas are companions who strive to give families a safe, positive, and healthy labor experience. They provide parents with evidence-based information and education on childbirth and are someone who the parent can turn to with questions and concerns about having a baby. Doulas also take an active role in collaborating with the parent to create a birth plan.

A certified birth doula offers advice and techniques to help reduce the stress that the parent often experiences during childbirth and provides you with education about different aspects of delivery and labor and what comes after.

The cost of a doula in Stockton, CA can range from $997 to $1,431. These costs are based on a representative group of 1,036 doulas surveyed by Meela across the state of California. The average cost of a doula in California is higher than the U.S. national average cost of a doula, which is $971.

When hiring a birth doula in Stockton, CA, you and your doula will discuss and agree upon a fee structure, and your doula will send you itemized invoices through Meela, which you can pay securely through the app.

Some insurance companies will cover all or part of the cost of hiring a doula. Contact your insurance company to find out if they offer any coverage for hiring a doula; not all insurance companies do.

You can hire two types of doulas in Stockton, CA: a birth doula and a postpartum doula. The birth doula is during your pregnancy and through the birth of your child. They provide you with emotional, physical and educational support during your pregnancy, your labor and delivery and for the first few hours after your child is born.

A postpartum doula will support you for the first few weeks after the baby is born. They provide in-home assistance, including teaching you how to take care of your newborn, acting as lactation consultant, and can provide some night nanny services.

Yes, a birth doula can provide support during a Cesarean birth and delivery. Doulas are non-medical professionals and do not replace obstetricians, physicians, midwives or nurses. They are an additive member to the team and provide emotional, physical and informational support to the birthing parent, partner and family. It is up to you whether the certified doula can remain in the operating room during the procedure.

When you hire a doula in Stockton, CA, your services typically include several in-person prenatal sessions, 24/7 phone and text support, full attendance throughout your labor, and several hours of support immediately following your birth.

A doula in Stockton, CA can help you in any kind of birth. Certified doulas are able to assist parents in creating the ideal “birth environment” and help parents deliver their baby safely. A doula can provide support during the birth whether it occurs in a hospital, a home, or another birth center of some kind. Doulas are there to support you in your desired birth preferences, whether that is a preference for natural, non-medicated, assisted, C-section or anything else.

Certified doulas can also act as a liaison between you and hospital staff regarding your childbirth expectations and preferences. For example, if your preference is to have a non-medicated birth, a doula can help guide you through that process and create a personalized birth plan. A certified doula in Stockton, CA does not replace medical staff (such as your obstetrician and nurses).

When a surgical procedure is required, there are some situations in which a birth doula can also remain in the operating room, although this is not an expected obligation. A certified birth doula can also assist hospital staff to improve the overall birthing experience. A doula in Stockton, CA will typically stay with the parents for several hours after birth to help them with birth recovery.

Evidence suggests that a birth doula in Stockton, CA can help improve parent satisfaction with their baby’s birth and delivery. The involvement of a doula can also lead to shorter deliveries with less complications.

Recent studies show that parents who have a support person like a doula by their side throughout labor and childbirth are more likely to:

  1. Give birth without the need for pain medicine
  2. Describe their birth experience in a positive way
  3. Give birth without the need for medical intervention, such as C-sections or vacuum delivery
  4. Experience a shorter labor

You can hire a doula early in your pregnancy to allow you time to get to know each other and to begin planning for your later trimesters, labor, birth, and aftercare. It is ideal to hire a doula when you are around 20 weeks along, but you can start looking for one before that.

It is never too late to hire a doula in Stockton, CA; you have right up to your due date to find a doula near you and receive all the benefits of doula support.

While many people think that a doula and a midwife are the same thing, their educational background and job duties are different. Doulas are non-medical professionals who provide emotional, physical and educational support, while also offering actionable advice and guidance to new parents about how to nurture their baby.

A midwife is a certified nurse-midwife (CNM) or a certified midwife (CM). CNMs are medical professionals that are certified and licensed by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. CMs are also certified, but they do not have nursing backgrounds.

Doulas are not medical professionals; they focus on the emotional support for the parents and the family before, during, and after the birth of the baby. Their job is to provide information, advice, and support to the family not diagnose any medical conditions or provide medical advice.
