  Mkenna has been my Fertility doula for about a year. TTC can be hard and it’s nice to have someone who understands and has good advice.

My goal as a doula is to empower parents to have the birth and postpartum experience they desire, as well as guide and educate them through the process in order to demystify pregnancy, labor, delivery, & postpartum.

I believe birth is one of the most natural processes the human body can experience. Our bodies were designed to create, carry, and then bring new life into the world. The human body inherently knows & understands how to go through the process of birth – both as the one giving birth, and the one being birthed.   My partner and I did an abundance of research into birth and parenthood. Being first time parents we wanted to be as prepared as possible. Unfortunately our child had other ideas (don’t they all), Amanda helped to educate and equip us to handle all of the adorable little curveballs our first child could throw at us. Between her knowledge of breastfeeding and the ability to help make sure we got a nap in, having her assistance and knowledge as part of the process of becoming parents was incalculable in the value it added. I can’t recommend her highly enough to any parent.

My name is Dawneshia, I am a mother to five children, wife and I’ve always had a passion to empower and educate others around me. I’ve worked in education for 12 years within my community and that include in after school setting as well as the school day setting. I’ve always strived to be the difference in the lives of youth that I worked with and most recently in the lives of women, mothers and their families during such a beautiful moment in their life. I began my training as a doula in 2020 6 months after I gave birth to my then youngest child. During that pregnancy I found my voice, exercised my right to choose who I received care from and where. I had my first VBAC water birth and it was so empowering for me. I felt led to go forth and apply for all scholarships available so that I could begin my training as soon as possible. I received 2 scholarships that year and my 3rd scholarship I received was in the spring of 2021 as I continued my education to obtain more knowledge because in the birth world you always want to stay up to date on your education. I recently gave birth to my 5th child and my 2nd VBAC this year. During my 5th pregnancy I supported women during the pregnancy, labor and birth and it was an amazing feeling to see them feel so confident and empowered during their pregnancy as well as their labor and birth. I got started because I realized how little help the average family has when it comes to life with a newborn. I want to be a support system to those who need it and help them succeed at parenting. I am a full spectrum doula (which includes birth support, postpartum support, and reproductive health support). I am also a certified pediatric sleep consultant and can help with setting up healthy sleep habits from the newborn stage up through the first year.   Having Auriel at my birth was like having an angel watching over me. She was so quietly attentive during my entire labor and didn’t give up on me even when the hours stretched on. Her energy is very grounding and I felt so safe near her. The continuous care she gave us after our baby was born was amazing, I don’t know how I would have handled those first few weeks without her.

I am a full spectrum doula, herbalist and student of holistic nutrition. A doula can not only provide you with the evidence based information you need to make an informed decision about your birth, your story, your baby and your life... a doula is also a witness to your experience, a person who holds space for all your emotions, holds your hand when you feel defeated and celebrates in your joy.   Kara is a soothing presence and excellent doula. She is a great listener and helped everyone in our family transition from one kid to two.

I have attended over 1000 births. My goal is to support the "unit" which means the couple. I'm the support of the laboring mom and her coach, and anyone else invited to the process. I had three children myself, one in the hospital and two at home. I participated in the Kaiser Research Project on Doulas in the l990s. I was certified during that study and later became certified with DONA, which I've keep current for 2 decades.
