Hi there, I'm Andrea, and my goal is to make a positive impact in the world of maternal health and well-being. Currently, I am volunteering for the Happy Mama Healthy Baby Alliance (HMHBA) as a Birth Doula. I've also taken on a board member position with HMHBA because I believe so strongly in the cause. From preconception through pregnancy to postpartum care, I'm here for women in every stage of motherhood. My background is in public health and currently certified under Happy Mama Healthy Baby Alliance as a Birth Doula. I got my certification in May 2023 and have been part of their board since July 2023. I am also a certified 200 hr Yoga Instructor and 85 hr Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga Instructor. I got my certifications in 2021 and 2022. I have experience in Ayurveda, when it comes to nutrition and lifestyle, which I incorporate in my teachings in prenatal and postpartum care. I have always been interested in birth, and how life is brought into this world. With a long background in Nannying and child care, I have experience in all aspects of caring for newborns and assisting families with the utmost love and respect. I was trained with Dona international in childbirth and breastfeeding education, learning all aspects of doula care and evidence based information. Whether it is in the hospital, birth center, or at home, I can help create a nurturing and calm environment to uplift and empower the birth person. In prenatal appointments and throughout the birth I can provide gentle massage, belly sifting, position changing, tens unit support, aroma therapy, guided meditation, reiki healing, cold and hot compresses, and physical/mental support to aid in pain management and provide an uplifting environment. These tools coupled with evidence based information and full emotional support, will be used to ease tension and empower the birth experience.

Care philosophy

Every birth is a beautiful blessing, and perhaps the most profound moment in many people's lives. I believe that doula support and guidance can educate, uplift and improve the birth experience and I feel so fortunate to help facilitate any birth persons journey. Emotional support, along with childbirth education, and creating a calm and meditative atmosphere are all elements used in my practice.

I really appreciated Natalie! She was very attentive, and always knew when to call. She asked me what my needs were and she cater to those her soothing voice was just what I needed when I was going through my contractions. And she was surprisingly strong enough to help me up. I would recommend Natalie to any expecting mother even my midwives who met her, loved her and said she was very nice. She showed a lot of love and care towards my newborn and I really appreciate it that. So if you’re thinking about having Natalie as a Doula, that would be a great choice, I recommend it!

Tamica, I can’t express the gratitude that my family has for you. You have forever changed all of our lives for the better. Your compassion, patience and attention to detail (emotional, metal & physical) is something I will always try to achieve for myself.

After three weeks of bed rest, I thought I was prepared for Lucca to make her way earth-side. But through her birth and all of the unexpected steps my labor required (the magnesium) to get her here safely, I can’t imagine how Trace and I would have coped through all of that if it weren’t for you. You’d think with baby number four we would be seasoned pros. But that simply wasn’t the case.

You have such a remarkable soul. Thank you for making such a special impact on our family. We Will remember you forever.

I have been practicing as a full spectrum doula since 2014, beginning by training with The Doula Project in New York as a birth doula and a perinatal loss and abortion doula, and then becoming a Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula through Doula Trainings International. I have worked with clients who speak French, Spanish, and English, and am proud to offer services in these three languages. My approach is evidence-based and my practice centers on healing and working to end systemic disparities in care. I seek to witness each person’s experience, to offer nonjudgmental support, a feminist, queer and anti-racist lens, and a grounded and adaptable presence. I am deeply grateful to the community with whom I continue to build and grow.

Care philosophy

I believe that everyone is the expert on their own body and life and deserves to be held with care through life's transitions. Welcoming a child, birthing, and becoming parents are sacred processes. I work with birthing people, their partners,+ surrogates as they embrace + remember their power to sustain through change. I support individuals + families postpartum as they grow + navigate new roles.

Hi my name is JoseIyn but my family and friends call me yose. I am a holistic Birth and Postpartum Doula, Certified Lactation Educator, and Birthrights advocate in Orange County, California. My passion for Birth work began in 2020 when I got pregnant with my daughter Kailani. During pregnancy I prepared mentally, physically, and spiritually for labor, but did not prepare for the postpartum period. With no family or support around it made my 4th trimester a very difficult time for me and my partner. This is what made me more passionate about supporting parents during the postpartum period. I completed her Birth Worker training with Bebo Mia Inc when her daughter was only 3 months old. After the training I realized that I wanted to take a more ancestral approach in birth work, and began learning about Mexican Indigenous Birth and Postpartum Traditions. I am constantly growing and learning! As your Doula I will walk with you through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

Care philosophy

Our philosophy of birth is that it is designed to be a normal, natural process that your body was perfectly made to experience. I will support you and educate you on every stage of your journey.

Hi there! My name is Briauna Smith and I am a Birth and Postpartum Doula located in the Los Angeles area. Something unique about my practice is that I offer more than just the two standard prenatal visits. This is because I understand that a positive birth experience requires a comfortable atmosphere, so it's important that we get to know each other! It's my goal to help you prepare for the birth you envision and to set you up for success during your postpartum period. I offer additional services such as childbirth education, placenta encapsulation, and more. I birthed my little one a little over a year ago at home (doula and midwife in attendance), which is what ultimately led me to doula work. I believe every woman, every family should be informed about their options and have the opportunity to have the birth they envision. When I'm not visiting with clients or at a birth, I run a natural skin care business, do some nutritional consulting, and am expanding my herbalism practice. I love to cook and read, but I'm mostly adjusting to and enjoying motherhood in my free time.

I found my way to the birth world after having a very long and challenging labor with my first child. Through the 3 day process, I could not imagine having done it without my doula. I want to make sure every birthing family feels empowered during their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period. Being a Lactation Consultant I can help ensure your breastfeeding journey gets off to a great start and help you should you encounter any challenges along the way. I'm happy to support families from preconception, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, as well as through miscarriage/loss/abortion. I love introducing women to the ancient practice of vaginal steaming so that they may prepare for labor, shorten labor, and help them heal postpartum all in a very relaxing way. I love to ensure that new families, in particular the birthing person, are well cared for as they adjust to life with a newborn. For postpartum clients I enjoy cooking nourishing meals and being a supportive, encouraging, and knowledgeable guide. As a mother of 2 myself, I know how valuable support throughout your transition to parenthood can be. Feel free to message or email me to set up a time to Zoom or chat and see if I'm the right doula for you!

Care philosophy

I offer non-judgmental care to help you have a birth where you feel empowered and that look back on with fondness. With lots of knowledge regarding lactation, I can help ensure your baby feeding journey gets off to an excellent start. I am also a Placenta Specialist, Certified Vaginal Steam Consultant + Herbalist.

From the first moment you spend in Natasha’s orbit, it’s abundantly clear why she chose the path of doula—or maybe that it chose her! Natasha is an incredibly calming, nurturing, and supportive presence, yet her confidence, assertiveness and poise radiate just as strongly. This unique combination of traits is absolutely key for a person serving that role.

I was fortunate enough to have Natasha right by my side as my doula and friend throughout my entire labor and birthing experience. She brought everything I needed physically, mentally and emotionally and intuitively always knew which tools to pull from the kit. She spoke up for me when it didn’t even cross my mind and she anticipated exactly when to lead with humor, when to cry with me, when to rub my shoulders, when to pull back my hair and when to just hold my hand. She effortlessly collaborated with the entire medical staff, making me feel like I was on a winning team. Her expertise, knowledge, assuredness and optimism gave me an overarching sense of security all along the way.

From my perspective, just the idea of having a baby is painful and scary no matter how you slice it…but somehow, Natasha also made it fun.

Birth and postpartum have always been very revered in my culture and I always say I have been a doula for my whole life because of this. I love to bring this idea of birth and postpartum as something to be celebrated to all kinds of cultures and backgrounds. I incorporate my knowledge as an herbalist, student midwife, and home-birth mother in offering support to families. I offer birth doula services that include birth prep and prenatal visits as well as mother-focused postpartum services.

Care philosophy

On birth: Every woman/birthing person deserves support, advocacy, and attention during her/their birth. As a birth doula, I offer that intuitive support. On postpartum: One of the three golden opportunities in life for deep healing both physically and mentally, I use this time to help a new mother heal using (rest, warmth, nourishment, and support).

I had a wonderful experience with Lucero. She was attentive and always quick to answer my endless questions. It was very clear to me that she was highly qualified. While I was very grateful for her presence through my pregnancy, my real appreciation for her came the actual day of my labor. To start, she was quick to arrive when my husband called her in. She was there while I was still laboring in my home. She knew exactly where to apply pressure and massage to get me through the contractions. She was hands on, not shy, quick, and comforting. When we arrived at the hospital she was my advocate. She was not shy to advocate to the nurses about my labor requests and preferences even when they attempted to pressure me otherwise. Her real shinning moment came when I was 10 cm dilated but the baby was at -1 station. The doctor wanted to insert a screw into baby’s head to monitor her which I really did not want happening. Lucero quickly went into action and told me of a laboring position that would help the baby go down. I listened to her and thanks to that the baby’s head was crowning before the doctor had a chance to come back with the screw. I just remember all the medical staff rambling about getting ready to receive the baby as they were not expecting her to drop in such little time. I will forever be grateful to Lucero for this. She is also a wonderful and pleasant person. Highly recommend!! She KNOWS what she’s doing. My birth story would be very different without her.

My name is Michelle, I'm a mother of two boys, a healer and a birth and postpartum doula. My journey began when I became pregnant with my second son. Having had the opportunity to work with Michelle was truly a gift. She supported me emotionally and physically through my later pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I can say without a doubt that I would not have had the beautiful and empowering birth of my son had it not been for her support and guidance.

There’s something comforting about her process and insight through her own birthing experiences. Michelle made herself available through text and phone calls at all times, responded to any questions or concerns I had immediately, and brought such warmth and calmness to every session we had. She provided me with so much education that aided me through every contraction, giving me the confidence to have the birth I really wanted. Not only was her support essential for me as the birthing person, but she was such an essential guide for my partner and gave him the confidence and education so that he was able to support me in every step of the way.

Michelle truly loves what she does and that is felt, from practicing breathe work, and contraction positions during prenatal visits to bringing me homemade lactation cookies and sitz bath mixtures during postpartum. I have felt so cared for throughout my work with her. She has really enlightened me and I am such an advocate that every birthing person should have a doula regardless of what kind of birth you want. I truly can’t recommend her enough and feel so fortunate that we found each other during my search for a doula.

Jessamyn is a second generation birth professional and began her journey into birthwork after the birth of her own daughter in 2007. She has supported hundreds of families in their journeys of early pregnancy through the postpartum years in childbirth education, labor and birth support, and bodywork. She is passionate about guiding families in this life changing time through education and being a trail guide in their own birth, utilizing her intuition, years of experience, continued learning, and years of bodywork therapies. She guides clients towards self-empowerment and informed decision making, while also providing steadfast side-by-side, hand in hand support physically and emotionally.

Care philosophy

I'm often asked by expecting parents what my birth philosophy is. It is this: birth is a physiologic process. It is something that our bodies and babies innately know how to do. I'm here to support the process, connecting with my clients, exploring their fears, and hopes and intentions for their birth, and help tap into their own spiritual, physical and emotional knowing of labor and birth.

Jessamyn is experienced, supportive, kind and connected. She was basically our private tutor for all things pregnancy and birthing. What I liked most when we first met her was that she had hospital, birth center and home birth experience but wasn’t pushing us in any one direction, she was just supportive of us and our plan. We ended choosing to have a home birth with a midwife. My wife was in labor for around 18-20 hours at home and was very close giving birth but in the end she needed to rest so we ended up going to the hospital to have an epidural so she could sleep. Jessamyn was right there by our side after more than 36 hours. She worked harmoniously with the nurses and the medical staff while also advocating that the staff be transparent and communicate what they were doing when they were doing it. She enabled us to have a vaginal birth when it seemed the odds were against us. We are eternally grateful for the beautiful birthing experience she helped facilitate. She is a part of our family now.

I am an enthusiast of humans helping humans. Although I have not experienced any of my own pregnancies, I have physically, mentally, and emotionally with my mom's three experiences. I've seen my mom go through each pregnancy differently as well as each of their births being unique in their own way but beautiful in every way. I have experienced seeing a supportive birth team by your side helps every woman feel more empowered and supported during this beautiful experience. My reason for becoming a birth doula is to come alongside each woman to support their desired birth plan.

Care philosophy

As a doula, I feel the importance of being the best calming presence I can be, I've learned that just having someone there to listen, guide, and sometimes literally carry your weight can make your birth and postpartum experience all the difference. I connect with my clients on a deeper personal level and create that relationship bond rather than client and doula but coming together as a team.

We had the opportunity to work with Jillian throughout my second pregnancy. She was a referral from the doula we used during the birth of our oldest. Jillian was wonderful to work with throughout my pregnancy and delivery of my son. She was supportive, understanding of our needs/desires, attentive, and friendly. She knows what she is doing and also collaborates with each person to address needs and concerns. My son’s arrival was traumatic and Jillian was with us in each step. Her guidance and support were extremely helpful. Her postpartum visits were supportive to my entire family. She is passionate about this work and it shows. We were so blessed to work with her.

I am maternal by nature, and grew up looking after my younger brothers and family friends. I was a highly sensitive kid who tuned in to everything around me and felt like I was meant to be a caretaker of some kind. I initially dove into the world of wellness when I had my own experience with autoimmune in high school. I became fascinated by the world of nutrition, acupuncture, Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine and spent most of my time studying and learning all that I could. I feel that doula work is in complete alignment with my purpose and passion. I am drawn to roles that are hospitality focused and previously worked in art, design and as a personal assistant. I am trained through Dona approved Bini Birth and am passionate about supporting you through such an incredible transition in life.

Care philosophy

I am passionate about helping women feel confident and calm throughout all stages of birth. I am sensitive and gentle, yet have the strength to hold a great amount of space for you. I lead with observation and intuition and give every effort to pick up on exactly what you need and how. My hope is that you feel grounded and connected to yourself in my presence.

Being French I had never heard about doula before. For my first pregnancy I knew I will not have an epidural and I needed someone to guide me this is when someone recommended Mathilde. She had been very supportive during my whole pregnancy, recommended me to use some self hypnosis. She never judged me, recommended me some practice but never imposed and most of all she listen to me and my wishes. The big day I sent her a message in middle of the night and she arrived ready to assist me and be there to be my voice to all the nurse to make sure they follow my birthing plan. She always included my husband, gave him and advised him how to be the best partner ever during this delivery. I could never dream of a better delivery and better doula. I recommend her 1000%.

Becoming a Birth Doula was an incredibly rewarding experience. It is a chance to contribute to the lives of new parents during pregnancy, labor and delivery and welcoming new babies into the world. As a Birth Doula I have a unique understanding of the birthing process and can provide a crucial guidance at a time when parents can feel overwhelmed and vulnerable. I can help to create an environment of emotional security. I am there to empower birthing people and their partners to become advocates for their own healthcare which in turn strengthens the bond between them and their newborn baby. Ultimately, I seek to create a safe, supportive and empowering experience for you and your baby-one that will remain with you for years to come.

Care philosophy

My goal is to help you to create the most positive birth experience. Rather unmedicated or medicated. It's your choice. I believe in informed choice, a right to choose and your self-rule and dignity.

Monique came to our first visit with a certain calmness. She took her time and answered our questions. My husband felt she had good energy and we hired her as our doula. She gave me a book on positivity and childbirth. Fast forward to labor, she walked my husband through different ways of comforting me. His touches felt warm and pleasing. I owe this to Monique. My husband would not have known what to do without her. She was a great asset to my birthing team. I look forward to seeing her again with our second child…..-first time mom, Mari

My primary goal as a Doula is to help take care of mom so that she can take the best care of baby. I have 4 children ranging in age from 23 to 1 and have over 4 years of experience breastfeeding through a variety of issues. I have been a teen mom, and a "geriatric" mom. I have experienced miscarriage(s), loss, natural birth, medicated birth, and have struggled through PPD and PPA. While I am new to the role of Birth Worker, I am deeply familiar with pregnancy, birth, and postpartum recovery and I am here to help you. Please reach out if you have any questions. I am excited to meet you!

I grew up in Austin, TX in a sweet old neighborhood bursting with young families. I was raised to be a very open minded, generous, and compassionate individual. I was also very curious and fascinated by pregnancy and birth from a very young age. I quickly became a favored child caregiver because of my strong work ethic and calm, nurturing spirit. As I continued child care through and after college, these varied and rich experiences with parents and children naturally led me to my interest in becoming a birth, postpartum and sibling doula. I have trained with both Doula Trainings International (DTI) and Doulas of North America (DONA). Training with two different organizations has given me a diversity of lenses when it comes awareness and education on how to best support the families I work with. I have also opened my scope and skills additionally, by becoming a reiki practitioner. Giving emotional and physical support to birthing people before, during, and after the life-changing experience of childbirth has become my passion. Through education about good prenatal health, labor, lactation, delivery and postpartum care, I hope to help birthing people feel confident and empowered. Apart from my doula work, I love cooking and eating delicious food and dancing! I absolutely love being in nature, and enjoy taking off on adventures whenever I have the opportunity.

Care philosophy

My philosophy of care as a doula is that the parent comes before the baby. I believe that if parents are being taken care of, then they will be better parents. Of course babies should be loved and nurtured and have all of their needs met, but the parents need these things as well. In a society so far removed from the village culture, I try to bring that back, through guidance and support.

I feel like everyone has the goal in life to find their purpose, and some are blessed to find it early. I have been living in my purpose more than half my life and didn't even know it. I became an aunt at 8 years old and that was my first experience with childbirth and childcare. Throughout the years I became that friend or relative who would go to doctor's appointments, download a pregnancy app and celebrate monthly changes, come over to hold the baby so they could have a bath, be in the room during delivery, and babysit. My mom always called me "the baby whisperer" because kids loved me from the moment I interacted with them. I became a preschool teacher after obtaining my B.A. in Human Development and continued teaching for 4 years. I was introduced to the role of being a doula through a friend and now mentor on social media. I was intrigued and inspired by her passion. After extensive research I realized the one thing I had been passionate about my entire life could be my career. I immediately began trainings and found that I fell even more in love with this work. I call this "The Journey" because I have so many plans for the future and I hope in some way you all may be a part of them.

Care philosophy

I believe that the birthing person is just as important as the new life they are bringing into the world. I focus on making sure that the birthing person is seen and heard throughout their journey. When a partner is present I do my best to make sure they feel involved in the journey and the delivery. I carry this into postpartum work as well.

Destiney approached me in 2020 with so much passion and grief associated with the birthing industry. She asked me for guidance and told me how committed she was to birth work. She kept her word. Destiney has shadowed me as a birth and traditional postpartum doula, in multiple births with lots of families in Southern California and attended many trainings from my resource lists. She’s put so much money and energy into a field that in the beginning can not give back a lot of financial support. I do not rely on other doulas for backup or coverage other than one colleague and Destiney recently was added to that list. She is excellent with communication, reliable, honest, passionate and so loving.

Marquiesa really made all the difference for my recent birth experience this past January . She made me feel safe , supported and advocated for me when I was in my most vulnerable state. When I started going into labor she was there for me and gave me the encouragement I needed to have the natural birth experience I was hoping for. Marquiesa was able to walk me through different breathing techniques and positions to ease the pain and enabled me to have a smooth tear free labor. When the baby came quicker than expected Marquiesa advocated for me to have the full delivery staff ready for baby , the nurse on staff did not believe I was truly in active labor and would not call the doctor in, marquiesa advocated for me when I needed it most and had begun crowning , getting the doctor in within minutes. She was there to assist with skin to skin and ensured I was comfortable and prepared . My doctor was preoccupied and the nurse on staff mostly absent during much of the labor process , I don’t think I could have done it without my doula , she gave me the encouragement and guidance I needed and made me feel safe . I would highly recommended her to any one looking for a doula .

My birth and postpartum practice is nearly a decade old! I started birth work shortly after the birth of my only child and have served over 100 families since. My practice philosophy is rooted in ancestral medicine and traditional birth and postpartum practices that encourage following the intuition of the birthing person and encouraging them to trust their own intuitive wisdom. New parents are like newborn babies, trying to make sense of their new reality while caring for a new human. I am here to help make the transition smooth and easy, through hands-on and home support.

Care philosophy

I am a Traditional Postpartum Care Specialist and my philosophy is rooted in Mesoamerican practices that focus on "mothering the mother". I come from the Mexica lineage who, in Indigenous tradition, follow the postpartum practice of the cuartentena which is intensive care and support for the new parents, especially the birthing parent during the first 40 days of your new baby's life.

Doula Services: FAQs

A doula is a professional that provides emotional, physical and educational support to new parents before, during, and after childbirth and into the early postpartum period. Doulas are companions who strive to give families a safe, positive, and healthy labor experience. They provide parents with evidence-based information and education on childbirth and are someone who the parent can turn to with questions and concerns about having a baby. Doulas also take an active role in collaborating with the parent to create a birth plan.

A certified birth doula offers advice and techniques to help reduce the stress that the parent often experiences during childbirth and provides you with education about different aspects of delivery and labor and what comes after.

There are two ways you can hire a doula through Meela in Long Beach, CA.

You can browse through the available doulas in Long Beach, CA and send the doulas you are interested in a message, introducing yourself and setting up an interview. We recommend interviewing at least three before hiring your top doula.

You can also hire a doula in Long Beach, CA in three easy steps:

  1. Post a job for free: answer some questions and receive responses from top-rated doulas in Long Beach, CA. It takes less than 30 seconds to post your job.
  1. Get your list of Long Beach, CA doulas: in a few hours, you will have a collection of doulas near you who are qualified to meet your needs. You can compare pricing, experience and read reviews. You can chat with each doula to learn more about them.
  1. Hire a doula with confidence: schedule virtual or in-person interviews with your top doula choices. Hire your top doula and start getting the care you deserve.

While the cost of a doula can vary based on experience and the services offered, the average cost of a doula in Long Beach, CA is $1,270, but typically ranges from $1,069 to $1,471. These costs are based on a representative group of 22 doulas surveyed by Meela in the Long Beach area. The average cost of a doula in Long Beach, CA is about the same as the average cost of a doula in the state of California, which is $1,214.

To put this in further context, the cost of a doula in Long Beach, CA is higher than the U.S. national average cost of a doula, which is $971.

When hiring a birth doula in Long Beach, CA, you and your doula will discuss and agree upon a fee structure, and your doula will send you itemized invoices through Meela, which you can pay securely through the app.

Some insurance companies will cover all or part of the cost of hiring a doula. Contact your insurance company to find out if they offer any coverage for hiring a doula; not all insurance companies do.

You can hire two types of doulas in Long Beach, CA: a birth doula and a postpartum doula. The birth doula is during your pregnancy and through the birth of your child. They provide you with emotional, physical and educational support during your pregnancy, your labor and delivery and for the first few hours after your child is born.

A postpartum doula will support you for the first few weeks after the baby is born. They provide in-home assistance, including teaching you how to take care of your newborn, acting as lactation consultant, and can provide some night nanny services.

Yes, a birth doula can provide support during a Cesarean birth and delivery. Doulas are non-medical professionals and do not replace obstetricians, physicians, midwives or nurses. They are an additive member to the team and provide emotional, physical and informational support to the birthing parent, partner and family. It is up to you whether the certified doula can remain in the operating room during the procedure.

When you hire a doula in Long Beach, CA, your services typically include several in-person prenatal sessions, 24/7 phone and text support, full attendance throughout your labor, and several hours of support immediately following your birth.

A doula in Long Beach, CA can help you in any kind of birth. Certified doulas are able to assist parents in creating the ideal “birth environment” and help parents deliver their baby safely. A doula can provide support during the birth whether it occurs in a hospital, a home, or another birth center of some kind. Doulas are there to support you in your desired birth preferences, whether that is a preference for natural, non-medicated, assisted, C-section or anything else.

Certified doulas can also act as a liaison between you and hospital staff regarding your childbirth expectations and preferences. For example, if your preference is to have a non-medicated birth, a doula can help guide you through that process and create a personalized birth plan. A certified doula in Long Beach, CA does not replace medical staff (such as your obstetrician and nurses).

When a surgical procedure is required, there are some situations in which a birth doula can also remain in the operating room, although this is not an expected obligation. A certified birth doula can also assist hospital staff to improve the overall birthing experience. A doula in Long Beach, CA will typically stay with the parents for several hours after birth to help them with birth recovery.

Evidence suggests that a birth doula in Long Beach, CA can help improve parent satisfaction with their baby’s birth and delivery. The involvement of a doula can also lead to shorter deliveries with less complications.

Recent studies show that parents who have a support person like a doula by their side throughout labor and childbirth are more likely to:

  1. Give birth without the need for pain medicine
  2. Describe their birth experience in a positive way
  3. Give birth without the need for medical intervention, such as C-sections or vacuum delivery
  4. Experience a shorter labor

You can hire a doula early in your pregnancy to allow you time to get to know each other and to begin planning for your later trimesters, labor, birth, and aftercare. It is ideal to hire a doula when you are around 20 weeks along, but you can start looking for one before that.

It is never too late to hire a doula in Long Beach, CA; you have right up to your due date to find a doula near you and receive all the benefits of doula support.

While many people think that a doula and a midwife are the same thing, their educational background and job duties are different. Doulas are non-medical professionals who provide emotional, physical and educational support, while also offering actionable advice and guidance to new parents about how to nurture their baby.

A midwife is a certified nurse-midwife (CNM) or a certified midwife (CM). CNMs are medical professionals that are certified and licensed by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. CMs are also certified, but they do not have nursing backgrounds.

Doulas are not medical professionals; they focus on the emotional support for the parents and the family before, during, and after the birth of the baby. Their job is to provide information, advice, and support to the family not diagnose any medical conditions or provide medical advice.
