We are three experienced doulas- Brana, Dawn and Rebecca, and are also close friends who have been leaning on each other in our work life and pesronal growth for years. We’ve turned to each other first any time we needed a backup doula, a fresh perspective, or a listening ear. We’ve supported each other through big life changes like divorce and even a difficult but victorious battle with cancer, and so often that support happened around a fire pit– mugs of tea or glasses of wine in hand– where we often found ourselves dreaming up the changes we’d make to the established way doula support works. We formed a collective and with that created a space where you can explore your options with curiosity and openness, finding coping strategies that work best for you. Our classes are taught by the same doulas who will be supporting you through your labor. We work as a team, so we are able to offer significant continuity of care from early prenatal questions to labor support and the early weeks of life with a newborn.

Care philosophy

Birth doulas honoring childbirth as a rite of passage. We share a vision of helping families in the Los Angeles area prepare for the profound transformations they will undergo as they become parents. Our focus is on expanding the ideas of what the birth and postpartum experience may require through a more experiental learning process in both group workshops and individual private sessions.

Eldrid has been a major source of support and comfort as a postpartum doula. She is quick to communicate and respond, eager to help and flexible in addressing our needs. Eldrid has offered help in every aspect possible: feeding and soothing our baby, watching him while we nap, cooking large lunches for us to have on hand, walking our dog, helping my wife with postpartum recovery care. Not to mention the amazing cookies she makes which are delicious and nutritious. She is a kind sounding board, listening to our experience as new parents and helping us through this process however she can.

In January 2024, after years of serving in mentorship roles, guiding group yoga and meditation, and working on farms, I felt it was time to make the transition to birth work. I trained as a doula with home birth midwife Michelle Welborn out of Natural Resources in San Francisco. She inspired my new dream of eventually becoming a midwife. As an ecologist and spiritual practitioner, I am so grateful to have wandered into the world of birth work — it's this deeply personal, intentional, and synergetic work that draws me in and feels like a natural culmination of my passions and gifts. Birth amazes me in its physiology, in how it connects us so clearly to the natural world, and in the way it illuminates our true power as women. Women as nature, women as sacred intuition, women as the mediums through which life continues to spring forth! I am a new birth doula. I trust, however, in my ability to be a calming, grounding presence for you throughout your pregnancy, labor, and postpartum period. And because I’ve never been pregnant or given birth, I won’t be projecting any personal baggage or expectations onto yours. “Should” is off-limits. My role as your doula is to be a sister and friend, a therapist and soundboard, a mentor and informant; empowering you with knowledge that allows you to champion your inner wisdom and make the best decisions for you — your body, your baby, your birth. I'll be the first to follow your lead.

Care philosophy

It is my hope that on the day every woman goes into labor, she is equipped with enough love, information, community support, connection, and trust in herself that she is willing and able to surrender to the process, with a deep knowing that giving birth is something she is divinely designed to do. In our current healthcare industry, I believe the support of a doula can help her achieve that.

My services have at least 1 pre- and post-natal appointments, and labor support. At the prenatal visit, we will discuss your hope and fears and prior laboring experiences, develop your labor plan, and talk of what brings you comfort. At your labor, I will recommend movements and offer comfort to you and your laboring partner. I will support your voice in conversations with your medical provider and help make sure you understand what is happening. I will be keeping a log of your labor events to discuss with you at the post-natal visit. At 1 to 2 hours postnatal, after you are settled for recovery, I will take my leave. After your birth, you may schedule your postnatal visit with me. We can review your labor and any concerns you have. I have a list of providers for additional support needs.

Care philosophy

This is your journey towards meeting your child face to face. I am here to help facilitate your labor event, so that your voice is heard. I can help slow down conversations with your doctor, nurse, or midwife in case you did not have a chance to understand their request. I can support both you and your labor partner with your emotional needs during labor and you will not be alone at any moment.

Hello everyone! I am a newly certified birthing Doula, having recently graduated from the prestigious National College of Midwifery. I am a proud mother of two beautiful children who inspire me every day to work harder and make a meaningful contribution to society. The journey towards motherhood is incredibly special, and I feel honored to be part of this process. My passion for supporting women through their birthing journey was ignited when I became a mom. I experienced first-hand the emotional roller coaster ride that comes with pregnancy and childbirth. It made me realize the need for empathetic and skilled support during this critical period in a woman's life. As a Doula, my primary objective is to provide pregnant women with the physical, emotional, and informational support they need to have a positive and empowering birth experience.

Care philosophy

As a Doula, Tayna's birthing philosophy is centered around the belief that birth is a natural, physiological process that every woman has the inherent strength to navigate. She is deeply committed to providing unbiased, non-judgmental support, empowering women to make informed decisions about their birth experience.

I have always been interested in birth, and how life is brought into this world. With a long background in Nannying and child care, I have experience in all aspects of caring for newborns and assisting families with the utmost love and respect. I was trained with Dona international in childbirth and breastfeeding education, learning all aspects of doula care and evidence based information. Whether it is in the hospital, birth center, or at home, I can help create a nurturing and calm environment to uplift and empower the birth person. In prenatal appointments and throughout the birth I can provide gentle massage, belly sifting, position changing, tens unit support, aroma therapy, guided meditation, reiki healing, cold and hot compresses, and physical/mental support to aid in pain management and provide an uplifting environment. These tools coupled with evidence based information and full emotional support, will be used to ease tension and empower the birth experience.

Care philosophy

Every birth is a beautiful blessing, and perhaps the most profound moment in many people's lives. I believe that doula support and guidance can educate, uplift and improve the birth experience and I feel so fortunate to help facilitate any birth persons journey. Emotional support, along with childbirth education, and creating a calm and meditative atmosphere are all elements used in my practice.

I really appreciated Natalie! She was very attentive, and always knew when to call. She asked me what my needs were and she cater to those her soothing voice was just what I needed when I was going through my contractions. And she was surprisingly strong enough to help me up. I would recommend Natalie to any expecting mother even my midwives who met her, loved her and said she was very nice. She showed a lot of love and care towards my newborn and I really appreciate it that. So if you’re thinking about having Natalie as a Doula, that would be a great choice, I recommend it!

I am an enthusiast of humans helping humans. Although I have not experienced any of my own pregnancies, I have physically, mentally, and emotionally with my mom's three experiences. I've seen my mom go through each pregnancy differently as well as each of their births being unique in their own way but beautiful in every way. I have experienced seeing a supportive birth team by your side helps every woman feel more empowered and supported during this beautiful experience. My reason for becoming a birth doula is to come alongside each woman to support their desired birth plan.

Care philosophy

As a doula, I feel the importance of being the best calming presence I can be, I've learned that just having someone there to listen, guide, and sometimes literally carry your weight can make your birth and postpartum experience all the difference. I connect with my clients on a deeper personal level and create that relationship bond rather than client and doula but coming together as a team.

We had the opportunity to work with Jillian throughout my second pregnancy. She was a referral from the doula we used during the birth of our oldest. Jillian was wonderful to work with throughout my pregnancy and delivery of my son. She was supportive, understanding of our needs/desires, attentive, and friendly. She knows what she is doing and also collaborates with each person to address needs and concerns. My son’s arrival was traumatic and Jillian was with us in each step. Her guidance and support were extremely helpful. Her postpartum visits were supportive to my entire family. She is passionate about this work and it shows. We were so blessed to work with her.

Tamica, I can’t express the gratitude that my family has for you. You have forever changed all of our lives for the better. Your compassion, patience and attention to detail (emotional, metal & physical) is something I will always try to achieve for myself.

After three weeks of bed rest, I thought I was prepared for Lucca to make her way earth-side. But through her birth and all of the unexpected steps my labor required (the magnesium) to get her here safely, I can’t imagine how Trace and I would have coped through all of that if it weren’t for you. You’d think with baby number four we would be seasoned pros. But that simply wasn’t the case.

You have such a remarkable soul. Thank you for making such a special impact on our family. We Will remember you forever.

I have been practicing as a full spectrum doula since 2014, beginning by training with The Doula Project in New York as a birth doula and a perinatal loss and abortion doula, and then becoming a Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula through Doula Trainings International. I have worked with clients who speak French, Spanish, and English, and am proud to offer services in these three languages. My approach is evidence-based and my practice centers on healing and working to end systemic disparities in care. I seek to witness each person’s experience, to offer nonjudgmental support, a feminist, queer and anti-racist lens, and a grounded and adaptable presence. I am deeply grateful to the community with whom I continue to build and grow.

Hi my name is JoseIyn but my family and friends call me yose. I am a holistic Birth and Postpartum Doula, Certified Lactation Educator, and Birthrights advocate in Orange County, California. My passion for Birth work began in 2020 when I got pregnant with my daughter Kailani. During pregnancy I prepared mentally, physically, and spiritually for labor, but did not prepare for the postpartum period. With no family or support around it made my 4th trimester a very difficult time for me and my partner. This is what made me more passionate about supporting parents during the postpartum period. I completed her Birth Worker training with Bebo Mia Inc when her daughter was only 3 months old. After the training I realized that I wanted to take a more ancestral approach in birth work, and began learning about Mexican Indigenous Birth and Postpartum Traditions. I am constantly growing and learning! As your Doula I will walk with you through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

Care philosophy

Our philosophy of birth is that it is designed to be a normal, natural process that your body was perfectly made to experience. I will support you and educate you on every stage of your journey.

Hi there! My name is Briauna Smith and I am a Birth and Postpartum Doula located in the Los Angeles area. Something unique about my practice is that I offer more than just the two standard prenatal visits. This is because I understand that a positive birth experience requires a comfortable atmosphere, so it's important that we get to know each other! It's my goal to help you prepare for the birth you envision and to set you up for success during your postpartum period. I offer additional services such as childbirth education, placenta encapsulation, and more. I birthed my little one a little over a year ago at home (doula and midwife in attendance), which is what ultimately led me to doula work. I believe every woman, every family should be informed about their options and have the opportunity to have the birth they envision. When I'm not visiting with clients or at a birth, I run a natural skin care business, do some nutritional consulting, and am expanding my herbalism practice. I love to cook and read, but I'm mostly adjusting to and enjoying motherhood in my free time.

She is always willing to drop whatever she is doing to attended to her clients and peers. Her knowledge runs deep and her passion for birth shows. She is kind, knowledgeable, loving and knows how to get down in the kitchen.

I found my way to the birth world after having a very long and challenging labor with my first child. Through the 3 day process, I could not imagine having done it without my doula. I want to make sure every birthing family feels empowered during their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period. Being a Lactation Consultant I can help ensure your breastfeeding journey gets off to a great start and help you should you encounter any challenges along the way. I'm happy to support families from preconception, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, as well as through miscarriage/loss/abortion. I love introducing women to the ancient practice of vaginal steaming so that they may prepare for labor, shorten labor, and help them heal postpartum all in a very relaxing way. I love to ensure that new families, in particular the birthing person, are well cared for as they adjust to life with a newborn. For postpartum clients I enjoy cooking nourishing meals and being a supportive, encouraging, and knowledgeable guide. As a mother of 2 myself, I know how valuable support throughout your transition to parenthood can be. Feel free to message or email me to set up a time to Zoom or chat and see if I'm the right doula for you!

Care philosophy

I offer non-judgmental care to help you have a birth where you feel empowered and that look back on with fondness. With lots of knowledge regarding lactation, I can help ensure your baby feeding journey gets off to an excellent start. I am also a Placenta Specialist, Certified Vaginal Steam Consultant + Herbalist.

From the first moment you spend in Natasha’s orbit, it’s abundantly clear why she chose the path of doula—or maybe that it chose her! Natasha is an incredibly calming, nurturing, and supportive presence, yet her confidence, assertiveness and poise radiate just as strongly. This unique combination of traits is absolutely key for a person serving that role.

I was fortunate enough to have Natasha right by my side as my doula and friend throughout my entire labor and birthing experience. She brought everything I needed physically, mentally and emotionally and intuitively always knew which tools to pull from the kit. She spoke up for me when it didn’t even cross my mind and she anticipated exactly when to lead with humor, when to cry with me, when to rub my shoulders, when to pull back my hair and when to just hold my hand. She effortlessly collaborated with the entire medical staff, making me feel like I was on a winning team. Her expertise, knowledge, assuredness and optimism gave me an overarching sense of security all along the way.

From my perspective, just the idea of having a baby is painful and scary no matter how you slice it…but somehow, Natasha also made it fun.

Birth and postpartum have always been very revered in my culture and I always say I have been a doula for my whole life because of this. I love to bring this idea of birth and postpartum as something to be celebrated to all kinds of cultures and backgrounds. I incorporate my knowledge as an herbalist, student midwife, and home-birth mother in offering support to families. I offer birth doula services that include birth prep and prenatal visits as well as mother-focused postpartum services.

Care philosophy

On birth: Every woman/birthing person deserves support, advocacy, and attention during her/their birth. As a birth doula, I offer that intuitive support. On postpartum: One of the three golden opportunities in life for deep healing both physically and mentally, I use this time to help a new mother heal using (rest, warmth, nourishment, and support).

Lucero was able to educate both my husband and I on what to expect throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum. Having her there every step of the way helped ease any worries we had as first time parents. She helped make my extremely long birth enjoyable and stuck with me the whole way through. Her postpartum care is top notch, she even helped me breastfeed after struggling to do so for weeks. I cannot recommend her enough!

My name is Michelle, I'm a mother of two boys, a healer and a birth and postpartum doula. My journey began when I became pregnant with my second son. I knew a home birth was the route I wanted to take, I became obsessed with learning everything I possibly could and I knew that becoming a doula is what I am I called to do. I decided to take the final step and enrolled in a doula training program, Bebo Mia support practitioner. I believe in the power and strength of a woman's body and I'm just here to remind you of that. My goal is to make sure you feel confident during all of your pregnancy, labor and postpartum. I provide evidence based care, along with unlimited emotional and physical support. I take a holistic approach, I provide childbirth classes, belly binding, tea blends, rebozo work, lactation education, baby wearing and placenta encapsulation. This is your journey, I'm here to make you and your family feel safe, loved and respected during our time together.

Care philosophy

I take a holistic approach along with evidence based care. I provide a environment with respect and without judgment. I believe in the power and strength of a women's bodily autonomy. To be a part of your village during prenatal, labor and postpartum is a honor and privilege in which I take pride.

Working with Michelle was one of the best decisions we made for me, my pregnancy, and our family. From our earliest interactions during her classes in our home, she demonstrated a depth of knowledge about evidence-based birth and was so patient when answering our questions and asking questions of her own to learn more about what I wanted for my hospital birth. I also love that she took time to get to know me and my husband as individuals and a couple. Not only did it demonstrate a sense of care for our family, but enabled her to understand our dynamic which helped when supporting both of us in labor and delivery.

As we got closer to delivery, Michelle answered all my texts and took time to check in with me via phone on the most difficult days. I always felt comfortable sharing my worries and fears with Michelle—she has a natural sense of empathy which made me feel so supported. When my birth plan changed and I elected to be induced, Michelle made sure I was informed and supported in my decisions.

After my daughter was born, Michelle’s support during the postpartum period was valuable beyond measure. From supporting my physical recovery and lactation, to helping me feel pampered in the comfort of home, and being someone I could cry/vent/laugh with is something that I’ll carry close to my heart for a long time.

The birth of my daughter is something I’ll never forget, and I am so grateful Michelle is entwined in that memory.

Jessamyn is a second generation birth professional and began her journey into birthwork after the birth of her own daughter in 2007. She has supported hundreds of families in their journeys of early pregnancy through the postpartum years in childbirth education, labor and birth support, and bodywork. She is passionate about guiding families in this life changing time through education and being a trail guide in their own birth, utilizing her intuition, years of experience, continued learning, and years of bodywork therapies. She guides clients towards self-empowerment and informed decision making, while also providing steadfast side-by-side, hand in hand support physically and emotionally.

Care philosophy

I'm often asked by expecting parents what my birth philosophy is. It is this: birth is a physiologic process. It is something that our bodies and babies innately know how to do. I'm here to support the process, connecting with my clients, exploring their fears, and hopes and intentions for their birth, and help tap into their own spiritual, physical and emotional knowing of labor and birth.

Jessamyn is experienced, supportive, kind and connected. She was basically our private tutor for all things pregnancy and birthing. What I liked most when we first met her was that she had hospital, birth center and home birth experience but wasn’t pushing us in any one direction, she was just supportive of us and our plan. We ended choosing to have a home birth with a midwife. My wife was in labor for around 18-20 hours at home and was very close giving birth but in the end she needed to rest so we ended up going to the hospital to have an epidural so she could sleep. Jessamyn was right there by our side after more than 36 hours. She worked harmoniously with the nurses and the medical staff while also advocating that the staff be transparent and communicate what they were doing when they were doing it. She enabled us to have a vaginal birth when it seemed the odds were against us. We are eternally grateful for the beautiful birthing experience she helped facilitate. She is a part of our family now.

Marquiesa really made all the difference for my recent birth experience this past January . She made me feel safe , supported and advocated for me when I was in my most vulnerable state. When I started going into labor she was there for me and gave me the encouragement I needed to have the natural birth experience I was hoping for. Marquiesa was able to walk me through different breathing techniques and positions to ease the pain and enabled me to have a smooth tear free labor. When the baby came quicker than expected Marquiesa advocated for me to have the full delivery staff ready for baby , the nurse on staff did not believe I was truly in active labor and would not call the doctor in, marquiesa advocated for me when I needed it most and had begun crowning , getting the doctor in within minutes. She was there to assist with skin to skin and ensured I was comfortable and prepared . My doctor was preoccupied and the nurse on staff mostly absent during much of the labor process , I don’t think I could have done it without my doula , she gave me the encouragement and guidance I needed and made me feel safe . I would highly recommended her to any one looking for a doula .

After my son's birth, I was reeling from how incredible my birth journey was. I heard so many horror stories from friends and family about how their birthing days went. I was appalled for them. Most were pushed around by hospital staff, forced into unnecessary c-sections or just completely unaware of what options they had! I became determined to be an advocate for women who want to feel validated and that they can birth the way they choose. I wanted to be able to provide a beautiful experience, to anyone who desired it.

Care philosophy

Having my son empowered me to help other women have the birth of their dreams. I strive for a smooth, calm process, free from stress, judgement and fear. Whether it be at home, a birth center or hospital, all natural, medicated or planned c-sections, I believe that women should be able to do things their own way. Because each and every woman, birth and baby is different, I take pride in supporting

Betsy was answered prayer for my husband and I. We wanted a doula that we could really connect with and who was genuinely passionate about her work as a doula! Betsy is prompt, communicative, and always available to answer any questions we had. I loved that Betsy also does things above and beyond and without being asked- like sending us emails with resources and information, checking in frequently, and just being a calm voice of peace and comfort through the newness of navigating birth/parenthood. She is a loving and warm person, definitely someone that you feel is a friend and can trust. Plus, she has the drive and assertiveness to be there to advocate for you when you really need it during birth!
We were blessed to have had Betsy be a part of our birth experience and she is an amazing choice for anybody that is looking for a great doula and also just a great human being to be there for you and baby. Thank you Betsy for your dedication and love for our little family! 😊

Doula Services: FAQs

A doula is a professional that provides emotional, physical and educational support to new parents before, during, and after childbirth and into the early postpartum period. Doulas are companions who strive to give families a safe, positive, and healthy labor experience. They provide parents with evidence-based information and education on childbirth and are someone who the parent can turn to with questions and concerns about having a baby. Doulas also take an active role in collaborating with the parent to create a birth plan.

A certified birth doula offers advice and techniques to help reduce the stress that the parent often experiences during childbirth and provides you with education about different aspects of delivery and labor and what comes after.

There are two ways you can hire a doula through Meela in Santa Ana, CA.

You can browse through the available doulas in Santa Ana, CA and send the doulas you are interested in a message, introducing yourself and setting up an interview. We recommend interviewing at least three before hiring your top doula.

You can also hire a doula in Santa Ana, CA in three easy steps:

  1. Post a job for free: answer some questions and receive responses from top-rated doulas in Santa Ana, CA. It takes less than 30 seconds to post your job.
  1. Get your list of Santa Ana, CA doulas: in a few hours, you will have a collection of doulas near you who are qualified to meet your needs. You can compare pricing, experience and read reviews. You can chat with each doula to learn more about them.
  1. Hire a doula with confidence: schedule virtual or in-person interviews with your top doula choices. Hire your top doula and start getting the care you deserve.

While the cost of a doula can vary based on experience and the services offered, you can expect the average cost of a doula in Santa Ana, CA to be $1,214, which is the average cost of a doula in the state of California. The cost of a doula in Santa Ana, CA can range from $997 to $1,431. These costs are based on a representative group of 1,036 doulas surveyed by Meela across the state of California. The average cost of a doula in California is higher than the U.S. national average cost of a doula, which is $971.

When hiring a birth doula in Santa Ana, CA, you and your doula will discuss and agree upon a fee structure, and your doula will send you itemized invoices through Meela, which you can pay securely through the app.

Some insurance companies will cover all or part of the cost of hiring a doula. Contact your insurance company to find out if they offer any coverage for hiring a doula; not all insurance companies do.

You can hire two types of doulas in Santa Ana, CA: a birth doula and a postpartum doula. The birth doula is during your pregnancy and through the birth of your child. They provide you with emotional, physical and educational support during your pregnancy, your labor and delivery and for the first few hours after your child is born.

A postpartum doula will support you for the first few weeks after the baby is born. They provide in-home assistance, including teaching you how to take care of your newborn, acting as lactation consultant, and can provide some night nanny services.

Yes, a birth doula can provide support during a Cesarean birth and delivery. Doulas are non-medical professionals and do not replace obstetricians, physicians, midwives or nurses. They are an additive member to the team and provide emotional, physical and informational support to the birthing parent, partner and family. It is up to you whether the certified doula can remain in the operating room during the procedure.

When you hire a doula in Santa Ana, CA, your services typically include several in-person prenatal sessions, 24/7 phone and text support, full attendance throughout your labor, and several hours of support immediately following your birth.

A doula in Santa Ana, CA can help you in any kind of birth. Certified doulas are able to assist parents in creating the ideal “birth environment” and help parents deliver their baby safely. A doula can provide support during the birth whether it occurs in a hospital, a home, or another birth center of some kind. Doulas are there to support you in your desired birth preferences, whether that is a preference for natural, non-medicated, assisted, C-section or anything else.

Certified doulas can also act as a liaison between you and hospital staff regarding your childbirth expectations and preferences. For example, if your preference is to have a non-medicated birth, a doula can help guide you through that process and create a personalized birth plan. A certified doula in Santa Ana, CA does not replace medical staff (such as your obstetrician and nurses).

When a surgical procedure is required, there are some situations in which a birth doula can also remain in the operating room, although this is not an expected obligation. A certified birth doula can also assist hospital staff to improve the overall birthing experience. A doula in Santa Ana, CA will typically stay with the parents for several hours after birth to help them with birth recovery.

Evidence suggests that a birth doula in Santa Ana, CA can help improve parent satisfaction with their baby’s birth and delivery. The involvement of a doula can also lead to shorter deliveries with less complications.

Recent studies show that parents who have a support person like a doula by their side throughout labor and childbirth are more likely to:

  1. Give birth without the need for pain medicine
  2. Describe their birth experience in a positive way
  3. Give birth without the need for medical intervention, such as C-sections or vacuum delivery
  4. Experience a shorter labor

You can hire a doula early in your pregnancy to allow you time to get to know each other and to begin planning for your later trimesters, labor, birth, and aftercare. It is ideal to hire a doula when you are around 20 weeks along, but you can start looking for one before that.

It is never too late to hire a doula in Santa Ana, CA; you have right up to your due date to find a doula near you and receive all the benefits of doula support.

While many people think that a doula and a midwife are the same thing, their educational background and job duties are different. Doulas are non-medical professionals who provide emotional, physical and educational support, while also offering actionable advice and guidance to new parents about how to nurture their baby.

A midwife is a certified nurse-midwife (CNM) or a certified midwife (CM). CNMs are medical professionals that are certified and licensed by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. CMs are also certified, but they do not have nursing backgrounds.

Doulas are not medical professionals; they focus on the emotional support for the parents and the family before, during, and after the birth of the baby. Their job is to provide information, advice, and support to the family not diagnose any medical conditions or provide medical advice.
