I am a 25 year old with 13 years of experience care taking for children ages newborn to twelve years of age. I have plenty of experience working in a daycare, and then in a private elementary school once I became a certified K- 5 teacher. I have always been around children all my life and realized that I wanted to be apart of something bigger. While I absolutely love teaching, being apart of an experience that brings in a new breath into the world is what I feel my real calling is. My services include everything surrounding high quality care for mama and family when needed the most.

Care philosophy

To be a source of emotional comfort. I provide services that ease the physical and emotional challenges of childbirth, encouraging the bond between parent(s) and child by advocating and providing a sense of empowerment to soon-to-be parents. I respect your choices and support you all the way. Having a doula is the best way to ensure a satisfying birth and postpartum experience.

I have worked with pre and post clients for 10+ years as a fitness coach. My practice is called "One Body One Journey", because I believe in supporting my clients with their personal "journeys". My drive to become a postpartum doula is to help families further with wellness during the 4th trimester. The postpartum period can be overwhelming and I strive to help you feel calm and confident so that you can enjoy the miracle before you. I will provide non-medical/non-judgmental physical and emotional support. I will provide guidance with newborn care, diapering, bathing, feeding and sleep cues. I'm a certified breastfeeding counselor and will support you with lactation, pumping, and provide resources and referrals. I provide a calming encouraging space, so that you feel supported and heard.

Care philosophy

My goal is to guide you through your "journey" into parenthood. Provide you with emotional and physical support in the first weeks postpartum so that you feel confident to start a new chapter in your lives with your little one.

Diane is very professional and non-judgmental. She is flexible and very helpful when you need her to care for you or your baby. She is also very warm and kind with your little one and attentive to their needs (playing with and talking to them, soothing etc.) which is important to me.

Being someone who is a learner and love educating people with what they what to learn I decied to step deeper into the circle of helping moms before, during and after birth rather then only after birth. Taking classes while working and helping family and friends with questions and tips, I've learnt a lot more. Now I'm opening my door to clients, and hope to be as useful and helpful to them as well. I'm found to be an advocate, and great teacher and hope to help people learn and understand what they want from themselves so they can advocate for themselves when needed.

Care philosophy

I find birth should be a natural and beautiful thing. But believe that mom that is educated and informed can have a great birth any way they choose with support and help the way she wants it.

I believe that you are the expert on your baby. I believe that you are doing it right. I believe your choices deserve to be celebrated. I deeply believe that you deserve empathetic, nourishing care too. I believe with education, dreaming. planning, learning how you want to be cared for, and learning how to communicate that to those who want to help you that the postpartum period can have moments of real joy and celebration even if we are very tired and worn thin. Postpartum should be time of nourishment for everyone as well as baby.I have been a Postpartum Doula since 2018 and a Certified Lactation Counselor since 2019 and have served over 25 families. I have served families in their postpartum journeys both virtually and in person. And offer my lactation support through a wholistic, doula lens. I am very passionate about planning for postpartum prenatally before the family is in the beautiful but wild swirling world of postpartum and offer standalone postpartum planning sessions to talk about what those first few weeks can look like and also how you would like for them to look.

Care philosophy

I offer my care and support through lens of radical non-judgement. You are the expert on your baby. Parenting is hard. Parenting in Postpartum can be really hard. I am here to provide caring reflections to you, information and resources enveloped in empathy and all of the emotional support you need so that you can feel confident in how you are caring for your baby. You deserve empathetic care too.

I have had the pleasure of training and mentoring Katie as a postpartum doula and I can say with confidence that she is an exceptional individual with a genuine passion for supporting new families and truly one of the kindest people I know. She is compassionate, attentive and goes above and beyond to ensure the comfort and well-being of the families she supports. Katie is a quick learner and has a natural ability to connect with families, making them feel comfortable and at ease. She has a strong knowledge base in postpartum care, infant care, and lactation support, which she continually expands through continuous education and experience. Katie is an amazing mother herself and draws on her own experiences to offer practical, relatable advice and support to new parents. She has a deep understanding of the challenges that come with parenthood, and she provides a refreshing perspective on how to navigate these challenges with confidence and grace. Katie consistently demonstrates excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a kind and nurturing demeanor. She is an excellent postpartum doula and lactation consultant and will be a true asset to any family in need of support. I highly recommend Katie to anyone seeking a qualified and compassionate postpartum doula.

I'm Ashley, a Afro-Caribbean mother to a 13 year old boy. A certified full spectrum doula trained with Ancient Song Doula Services. Throughout my career, I have had the honor of supporting 15 families during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, helping them navigate the beautiful journey of bringing new life into the world. My passion for supporting families during this transformative time began when I experienced the birth of my own child. I realized the profound impact a skilled and compassionate doula can have on ones birthing experience. Although I wasn't able to have one myself, I was able to teach myself and those supporting me the role of a doula during birth, which allowed me to achieve all of my birth goals. Through this passion, I have dedicated myself to supporting families through this journey in a way that is personalized, empowering, and non-judgmental. I believe in creating a safe and nurturing environment that allows parents to make informed decisions and feel supported throughout the process. My approach is grounded in evidence-based research and tailored to the individual needs of each family. I provide emotional, physical and informational support, as well as advocacy guidance, to encourage a positive and fulfilling birth and postpartum experience. I am committed to continuing education and professional development to ensure that I am providing the most up-to-date and effective care possible. Whether you're planning a home birth, hospital birth, or a birth center delivery, I am here to support you every step of the way. I look forward to the opportunity to help you achieve your ideal birth experience.

Care philosophy

I believe ALL birthing people should have access to safe, quality, compassionate, supportive care throughout their pregnancy, labor & delivery and postpartum journey. My mission is to empower all birthing families especially those impacted most by the maternal mortality rate, specifically BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) regardless of socioeconomic status.

Ashley was an instrumental part of my pregnancy and post-partum journey. Throughout my pregnancy, as my doula, Ashley offered me valuable information that allowed me to make decisions that aligned with how I wanted to carry out my pregnancy and birth. She was always readily available to answer the millions of questions I had, consistently offering factual answers and doing the research when necessary to provide me with the best care. Ashley’s warm nature and sincerity shine through making her a grounding presence, which was vital during my labor. The fact that she provided support during my labor virtually and was the most important voice for me in the room speaks volumes about her character and her gift as a doula. I experienced some complications post-birth and Ashley was able to travel to my home and provide immediate hands-on post-partum care for ten days. Without this care and her knowledge, as a single mother, I honestly do not know how I would have made it through those ten days. She was able to teach me how to breastfeed and taught me different tricks for handling a newborn while healing from a major surgery. Her dedication to bringing sacredness back into the birthing experience was and is the pillar of what has allowed me to say that my birthing experience, while different than what we planned, was still a powerful story and I am forever grateful for her.

Hello! My name is Elise (she/her), and I’m a certified IDI full spectrum doula. I’ve worked with children for many years in my hometown of Toronto but when I moved to New York I decided I wanted to take my skills to the next level. I want to help the people in my community have empowering and informed pregnancies and births. I believe education and support are the keys to living a higher, elevated life. When I’m not working with birthing people and families, you can find me practicing yoga, meditating, painting, singing and dancing. I also enjoy watching comedies and sci-fi drama series with my husband and my cat, Mittens. I’m looking forward to connecting and getting to know each other more! -E xoxo

I hired Elise as my birth doula as well as my postpartum doula for daytime/overnight care. She stayed with me the entire time I was giving birth in the hospital. Then she stayed with me overnight at my mother in laws for a week after I gave birth, and a few daytimes at my condo afterwards. I did an induction which was a little scary, but she made sure I knew what was coming and helped me relax so my body could do its thing. She held my hand through most of it. She was very knowledgeable about my baby’s first bath, how to swaddle, how to change a diaper and how to burp. Elise also helped me with my initial latch and encouraged me to continue breastfeeding. She always made sure to keep my condo tidy so when I did have the energy to get up, everything was in order. She cooked a few times for us but my mother in law did most of the cooking. When I started losing hair this year, she gave me a ton of information on what to do so even though she’s not my doula anymore, she still checks in on me and wants to help. She definitely was everything that I expected to get from a doula. I would say I trust her judgement 10/10. She’s reliable, kind, and informative. She was always there for me when I needed her most.

I work with many types of people but channel all my care and support throughout the birth process. At times, in addition to being a doula, I help capture the moment with photography and videography, creating beautiful pictures and footage that can be cherished for generations.

When you hire a birth doula, you add a wealth of knowledge and experience to the incredible journey you are already on. We believe that your birth journey is one that can be enriched with childbirth education, a tuned-ear to the mind and body, and a thorough understanding of your options as women. We recognize and seek to mend the gap in our current maternal health system, and we believe that our clients aim to do the same for themselves.

Care philosophy

The human experience is one that inevitably encounters birth. Whether it is us giving birth or supporting those we love in their birth process; a new soul transforms the community nest. At the moment of conception, a portal opens. We will never know when the portal will close; the way we cannot predict our own completion of life. It’s a powerful state that as women we have absolute authority over.

I'm Alex, a certified full-spectrum doula, member of the NYC Doula Collective, and your guide as you navigate the incredible journey of bringing new life into the world! My journey into doula work was sparked by a profound desire to offer compassionate care and guidance during the birthing process. I'm here to be your companion and advocate, providing a sense of strength and calmness as you navigate this transformative experience. I believe that everyone giving birth should receive the support they deserve. I'm especially passionate about addressing the disparities in perinatal care, working towards creating a more equitable and inclusive birthing environment. When I embark on this journey with families, I use my heart and hands to be a source of unwavering support. I am a continuous presence from the moment we decide to work together, providing emotional support and evidence based information on childbirth, postpartum, and feeding your baby. During labor, I lean on acupressure, massage, and movement as coping techniques to help you feel comfortable. As you transition into the 4th trimester, I am here to assist you in navigating the joys and challenges of early parenthood. Together, we can create a partnership based on trust, respect, and personalized care. I weave together my passion for travel and the amazing realm of childbirth. Having lived in diverse locales, including the electric cityscape of Shanghai, China, I bring a wealth of worldly experience to my doula practice. My linguistic journey mirrors my global exploration, encompassing beginner-level Mandarin and a growing proficiency in Spanish, French, Portuguese, and the beautiful cadence of my almost mother tongue, Haitian Creole. When I’m not doulaing, you'll find me exploring the world, showering affection on random dogs, crafting heartfelt poems, or nurturing new plant cuttings! I’m looking forward to getting to know you and hopefully joining you on the wild ride that is birth!

Through my package, I hope to promote physical, emotional, mental, and social well-being as you navigate your birthing journey.

As a postpartum doula with over 16 years of experience, I provide non-medical physical and emotional support, evidence-based information about newborns and postpartum parents, and practical household assistance. And as a Certified Lactation Counselor, I have additional training in supporting parents who choose to nurse/pump. I also teach private lactation, pumping, back to work, weaning, newborn care and postpartum planning classes. I've been lucky to work with a diverse range of families, including single, adoptive, and LGBTQ+ parents. I'm a former documentary maker and my films about body image and family issues have been broadcast on PBS, HBO and beyond; my short radio pieces can be heard on This American Life; and an autobiographical essay of mine was included in the anthology Out of the Ordinary: Growing Up with Gay, Lesbian and Transgender Parents. I left my documentary career and became a postpartum doula after seeing a dear friend go through a severe postpartum depression. That experience convinced me that more support is essential for all parents-- whether it's their first baby or not.

Care philosophy

The New York Times described me as “a modern Mary Poppins: a combination friend, teacher and spirit guide.” My pledge to my clients: no matter how you are building your family or feeding your baby, my goal is to meet you where you are, build your confidence and independence, and work myself out of a job.

I’m Connie, the doula behind My Doula Connie Care and my focus, curiosity and endless amazement is within the Postpartum Period, Fourth Trimester. I am certifying my training through Doula Trainings International and have certified as a Lactation Counselor through Birthday Presence. My journey into the doula realm began after the birth of my goddaughter. I have had the honor of witnessing many of my dear friends step into day one of parenthood and it is nothing short of miraculous, joyous and humbling. Postpartum is a time of deep change, transformation and courage. It is a period of time with you and your new born that is so special and unique, deserving of compassion and a sensitive approach. In a society that focuses on pregnancy and birth, however, I have seen first hand how isolating, overwhelming and often times scary, the fourth trimester can be. It was heartbreaking to see my strong, capable, worthy friends doubt their instincts as parents and worse, not know who to turn to for answers and guidance. Postpartum is vulnerability defined. It is challenging and every new parent, even second and third time parents struggle. The struggle is common, but it doesn't have to be. As your postpartum doula I am here for you to lean on. I am those extra pair of hands, your emotional support and practical support. I help you where you need help from day to day so you get the time you need to bond with your baby, rest, and restore your body. I am here to offer guidance, validate choices, nourish you with a home cooked meal and provide the skills you need to fully trust your instincts, and feel confident when facing the new challenges of parenthood. There is no going back before postpartum, there is only through. I’m here to not only help you survive postpartum, but thrive.

Care philosophy

My philosophy is your philosophy. I am not here to tell you what I would do or what you should do, but rather compassionately guide you towards the choices and decisions that are best for you, your baby and family because you FEEL they are.

Connie instantly felt like a trusted friend, a part of the family, someone who came into our life with no judgement whatsoever… she so clearly led with the intention of meeting us exactly where we were at. In spite of all the challenges of COVID, Connie showed up for us without fail and without her, my post-partum experience would have been very challenging both physically and emotionally. I wasn’t necessarily sure exactly what a post-partum doula did when we started, but soon learned – what doesn’t she do? From providing nourishing food to eat, to creating calm sanctuary moments within my home, to watching my toddler, to creating space to process the emotional aspects of post-partum, to meditation & massage, to handling piles of laundry on a cold January night when our machine had broken… to any mama or birthing person out there considering Connie, HIRE HER. you’ll be so happy you did – but you’ll also be so glad to have just connected with this amazing person along your post-partum journey.

I provide support, guidance, reassurance, resources, and referrals for your newborn care, infant feeding, and all postpartum needs. The only granola I ascribe to is what I put on my yogurt. I offer comforting, accessible, down to earth, crystal-free care. I provide non-judgmental care -- it is not my place to tell you how to parent. I firmly believe that the best way to support you is to support your parenting choices. I'm there to give you support, stress relief, encouragement, resources, and guidance in order for you to become the expert on your baby.

Care philosophy

Down to earth doulaing means I keep things simple. I’m a "what you see is what you get" kind of person. Someone to take care of you and your needs while you redirect your energy to the constant care of your newborn. I provide all of the care "none of the crystals".

Birth is a time of transformation. It is one foot in your old world and one foot in this new one. It is beautiful and awe-inspiring. It is fun (yes, FUN!) with lots of laughter and joy. It’s tears and sadness. It’s many things. And it is also work -- hard work -- both mentally and physically. Sometimes our expectations create more discomfort in childbirth and parenting than the actual pains of labor. Expectations are a normal part of the human experience and so my goal is to help guide you through this transformational time, demystifying the process. As a doula, I offer informational, emotional and physical support for the laboring person (and, if they have one, their partner too). I believe it’s about bringing a calm presence and actively listening to the birthing person's values and needs. I am proud to be a companion and honored to be apart of the welcome committee. It’s knowing someone will always be there to fully support you, asses your needs and do everything in their power to make this experience joyous and deeply empowering. When I say, “you’ve got this.” I truly mean and believe it. Birth isn’t just something that happens, it’s something that should be engaged with care and after having my own child, I felt and experienced the importance of continuous emotional and non-medical support that I did not receive from any other care provider throughout my whole entire pregnancy.

Care philosophy

My philosophy is simple; there is no wrong way to birth as long as your choices and decisions through the journey are being heard and respected. In working together, I hope to co-create the vision for how you would like to feel during your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience. I love helping families move through this time creating confidence in deciding what feels right for them!

I am very grateful to have had Rachel as my doula. She was with us to prepare and during my labor, and she provided a lot of insight and confidence for us during this most precious and precarious time. Her energy was wonderful and I think she was vital to my positive birth experience.

In 2018 I read an article about the increasing black maternal mortality rate in the NY Times. I felt connected to the story since my own pregnancy could have had a dark outcome. At that moment I decided that I wanted to assist humans with their prenatal and postpartum experience, by becoming a doula and receiving my doula certification with Mama Glow. I believe that every expectant human should have a doula, regardless of their family make-up. I am a single mom of one living in New York. I pride myself on being a protector of those I encounter while enforcing the mindset of being gentle with yourself.

Care philosophy

As your doula, I am here to support you and you needs. I will be your champion throughout your pregnancy as well as in the early postpartum period. You will receive emotional support, physical support and comfort measures, education, breastfeeding assistance, and encouragement. We will explore your birth preferences also known as a birth plan. I will advocate for you and help you communicate with

Karma is dedicated in reducing mortality and morbidity in the BIPOC community by providing education and support to mothers and families. If she is not providing childbirth education, she is having patients moving their bodies in yoga, or providing support during and after birth.

Initially, I meet with prospective clients either in-person or virtually. We discuss your needs and determine if my care is a fit for you. After that, we meet a minimum of 2 more times in person and I work diligently throughout your pregnancy and labor to provide education as well as the knowledge and information you need to prevent complications, as well as make the best choices in your care, at whatever stage/scenario you find yourself. My care includes prenatal sessions, being on-call for your birth, support with that first latch and concludes with postnatal visits including breastfeeding support. If you so choose, I can also assist you with infant sleep solutions as well as postpartum care.

Care philosophy

My support for you is catered to your desires for the journey you're on. I have been caring for families during birth, postpartum and breastfeeding for over 26 years. Birth is the ultimate creative act. I offer my skills in trusting and following intuition, creatively thinking through situations, and being physically connected to the process to support the flow. I love getting to work with my hands in this setting: offering soothing touch, positional shifts and suggestions, and grounding pressure. Just as important are the realities of supporting folks logistically: I protect the intimate circle of labor by managing the rest of the activity as much as possible — making sure folks are fed, hydrated, and informed, and then getting out of the way. I know that being witnessed through this intensity makes a difference. The power of receiving a cool washcloth at the exact right moment is real! A good experience — for birthing person and baby — brings lasting positive shifts that extend outward.

Care philosophy

Hi! I’m Claudia, a full spectrum doula and lactation counselor based in Brooklyn, NY. As a birth doula, I bring a calm and compassionate presence to your pregnancy, labor, and postpartum period. I provide concrete options for physical comfort as well as grounded emotional care, so you can approach these life changes in an environment of support.

I'm a Birth and Postpartum Doula, as well as a Certified Lactation Counselor. I'm also a native New Yorker, a lover of travel, an actress, and a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. My mom was a doula, childbirth educator, and acupuncturist and my dad was a physician, so I grew up with a pretty balanced perspective on holistic vs. medical approaches, and I'm committed to supporting whichever path you take. I have no judgment or agenda for your birth or your parenting style - my job is to support you in your choices and to assist and celebrate you in achieving your goals. The process of becoming a parent (or becoming a parent again!) is a beautiful, amazing, messy, hilarious, humbling thing to bear witness to, and I feel so lucky to get to help people navigate that journey. I care deeply about this work, and I believe in you.

Care philosophy

I believe every birthing person has an inner knowing; I'm passionate about helping you connect to that knowing so your choices during this profound time are truly yours. Whether you need hands-on comfort techniques or someone to hold space for your own internal process, I approach each situation with empathy, grounded emotional support, & the occasional well-timed joke. I'm honored to join you.

Lactation Consultant: FAQs

A certified lactation consultant is a professional that helps parents address and solve their breastfeeding problems. Many new parents believe that breastfeeding is easy, only to find more obstacles than anticipated. 92% of parents say they are having problems with breastfeeding their new baby within only 3 days.

Nursing doesn’t always come naturally.

Breastfeeding can be overwhelming and all-consuming. A lactation consultant in New York, NY can identify issues such as low milk supply, latching problems, or nipple engorgement. They also offer advice and techniques to help parents understand existing issues, improve how they read their baby’s cues, and feel empowered about breastfeeding despite existing social norms.

The ultimate goal of a lactation consultant is to support parents who choose to breastfeed their children. A lactation consultant in New York, NY can often save parents time and energy, and also give them some peace of mind.

Many mothers also face issues where they cannot breastfeed in the workplace or lack the family support or time to ensure that their child is breastfed correctly. A lactation consultant in New York, NY can also provide a significant amount of moral support, diagnose breastfeeding issues, and solve latching, positioning, and scheduling issues.

Under the Affordable Care Act, many insurance companies should be covering the cost of lactation services. However, there are a number of factors that determine whether insurance will cover the cost of a certified lactation consultant in New York, NY. You should contact your insurance company for more information.

Here are some factors to consider regarding insurance and your lactation consultant cost:

  • Your insurance provider
  • Your individual health plan
  • The type of lactation specialist
  • The specific service provided

Meela’s network of lactations specialists in New York, NY offer both in-home lactation support sessions or virtual lactation support sessions. Both types of sessions typically last between 1 and 3 hours. In your sessions, your lactation specialist will spend time understanding the issues you are facing and work with you and your baby to diagnose the issues have and also provide specific guidance and hands-on practice and exercises.

Lactation consultants help parents understand the best way to comfortably breastfeed their baby and help them navigate breastfeeding social norms. They can also help reduce stress and anxiety about breastfeeding, or help with specific challenges (such as breastfeeding twins, for example). Other parents might just want emotional support that doesn’t currently exist within their family, workplace, or network or friends.

Certified lactation consultants can also help with specialized issues that may arise with premature children or sick children. A parent may not have thought about breastfeeding help until they notice that their baby isn’t gaining weight properly, and finally realize that they might need some support and knowledge before continuing to breastfeed. On the other hand, some parents might prepare with a lactation consultant months before the baby is born.

Whether you are planning ahead or are thinking about a lactation now that you are having breastfeeding issues or concerns, a lactation consultant can be incredibly helpful and useful for parents.

Lactation counselors in New York, NY can often help parents with breastfeeding and offer breastfeeding advice, training, and troubleshooting. Many of these counselors have taken the CLC exam, or the Certified Lactation Counselor exam. A certified lactation counselor has typically undergone 45 hours of training.

On the other hand, a certified lactation consultant in New York, NY has undergone a specific amount of clinical training hours, which is not a requirement to become a lactation counselor. These lactation consultants are certified by the International Board of Certified Lactation Consultants, as well. A lactation consultant typically has a bachelor’s degree in a health field and has undergone 90 hours of training and has somewhere between 300 and 1,000 hours of experience with parents.

Lactation consultants in New York, NY are often working with other healthcare teams in collaboration with postpartum nurses to ensure that parents understand how to breastfeed their babies. Both lactation consultants and lactation counselors can provide support, develop feeding plans, and offer actionable advice with respect to breastfeeding.

The best approach is for parents to hire a lactation specialist early in their pregnancy so that they can help you prepare both mentally and physically. Parents don’t need to wait until your baby is born to begin thinking about breastfeeding support and education.

Some parents might be anxious about breastfeeding in public or feel like they want access to a breastfeeding expert to help both inform and support them. A lactation consultant in New York, NY can also help young professional parents schedule their breastfeeding efficiently so that they can return to work quicker, while others might specialize in helping with breastfeeding anxiety issues.

It is never too late to hire a certified lactation consultant in New York, NY. These breastfeeding consultants can also offer emotional breastfeeding support that can be valuable to those who lack family or workplace support. A lactation consultant can also be critical in identifying warning signs that might indicate more serious growth or developmental issues.

There are many documented benefits to breastfeeding, and parents often believe that it will be an easy and natural experience. Unfortunately, many parents run into issues such as low milk supply, nipple engorgement, or latching problems that can affect their baby’s health. These lactation specialists can be useful for troubleshooting, advice, or emotional support.

Certified lactation consultants can strengthen the bond between parents and their babies through breastfeeding advice, tips, and support. This might include showing parents how to help their baby latch properly, establishing feeding schedules, or dealing with sore nipples or engorgement. A lactation consultant can help new parents better understand their baby’s needs in general, and monitor the baby’s growth and development.

Lactation specialists in New York, NY also offer emotional support and help parents breastfeed more efficiently so that they can get back to work and allow them to better manage expectations. Many parents face issues where they cannot breastfeed in the workplace, or do not have the family support or time to ensure that their child is breastfed properly and with care. These expert consultants can also provide a significant amount of moral support, diagnose breastfeeding issues, while also solving issues such as latching, positioning, and scheduling.
