Practice overview
Birth is a time of transformation. It is one foot in your old world and one foot in this new one. It is beautiful and awe-inspiring. It is fun (yes, FUN!) with lots of laughter and joy. It’s tears and sadness. It’s many things. And it is also work -- hard work -- both mentally and physically. Sometimes our expectations create more discomfort in childbirth and parenting than the actual pains of labor. Expectations are a normal part of the human experience and so my goal is to help guide you through this transformational time, demystifying the process. As a doula, I offer informational, emotional and physical support for the laboring person (and, if they have one, their partner too). I believe it’s about bringing a calm presence and actively listening to the birthing person's values and needs. I am proud to be a companion and honored to be apart of the welcome committee. It’s knowing someone will always be there to fully support you, asses your needs and do everything in their power to make this experience joyous and deeply empowering. When I say, “you’ve got this.” I truly mean and believe it. Birth isn’t just something that happens, it’s something that should be engaged with care and after having my own child, I felt and experienced the importance of continuous emotional and non-medical support that I did not receive from any other care provider throughout my whole entire pregnancy.

January 5, 2021 at 9:26 am | Client reviewRachel dispelled all of my anxiety while going through an unexpected difficult labor. She was the most instrumental person in my birthing experience. She provided a strong, gentle, always attentive presence. She made sure in prenatal appointments that she knew our wishes and made sure myHaving a child in a hospital can be overwhelming and impersonal and Rachel provided all I needed to get through with confidence and even with laughter in the most difficult moments. She is knowledgeable, patient and always willing to ensure your needs are met. She was also an incredible support to my partner. She has continued her support with post natal check ins and will always feel part of our family! I strongly recommend her!

January 7, 2021 at 12:53 am | Client reviewRachel was genuinely caring and invested in my birth from the moment we invited her to be our doula. Her calming and compassionate nature towards me, and her specifically inclusive attitude towards my husband made the birth process so much more comfortable for my family. Having Rachel present for such a important day in our lives was a decision we’d gladly make again!

She was with us to prepare and during my labor, and she provided a lot of insight and confidence for us during this most precious and precarious time. Her energy was wonderful and I think she was vital to my positive birth experience.
