Practice overview
In 2018 I read an article about the increasing black maternal mortality rate in the NY Times. I felt connected to the story since my own pregnancy could have had a dark outcome. At that moment I decided that I wanted to assist humans with their prenatal and postpartum experience, by becoming a doula and receiving my doula certification with Mama Glow. I believe that every expectant human should have a doula, regardless of their family make-up. I am a single mom of one living in New York. I pride myself on being a protector of those I encounter while enforcing the mindset of being gentle with yourself.

This was my second pregnancy and first delivery and she was so present for me and my partner. I learned so much about the process of giving birth. She made sure to check in regularly, she came to our home (pre-covid) for sessions. She was the BEST advocate during my labor. We constructed a birth plan and unfortunately, I was unable to have a vaginal birth. However, during my 52 hours or so of labor, she was there to comfort me, to be my advocate when speaking to the doctors and nurses. She was there to guide me when my son was born and she checked in on us after. There isn’t enough room to share how grateful I am for her service. She has been trained by the best and her spirit is incredible.

She advocated for me and taught me ways in which I could advocate for myself. She was attentive and made me feel heard, and was present any time I needed her. My third pregnancy was a breeze because of her, and I really wish I had been informed sooner of the benefits of having a doula. She really made my pregnancy an experience, and I’m forever in her debt for it. I also used her for prenatal yoga, postpartum services, and lactation support. She’s really a gem.
