As a certified massage doula, I offer emotional, spiritual, and physical support to my clients throughout pregnancy and labor. I often refer to yoga, meditation, and various massage modalities to provide pain relief, including but not limited to acupressure, passive range of motion, and aromatherapy. I also offer informational support and after if you are interested in bellybinding, breastfeeding, or babywearing I got you.

Care philosophy

The first time I was pregnant, there was so much information out there. Not much of it was useful by the end of my pregnancy. I was fighting against the beliefs others imposed on me about labor being painful, & pregnancy is a bodily sacrifice. As a prenatal massage doula and a mother of two, I learned you can prepare for your pregnancy & birth outcome and I can support you.

I have known Meenashi for many, many years. She is an inherently good person who I would describe as kind, bright and outgoing. She has qualities within her personality that make her an adaptable, determined, tenacious and resourceful person. Her extensive knowledge of anatomy, experience interacting perinatal clients as a licensed massage therapist along with her own personal birthing/postpartum experiences combines to create a soild base of knowledge that any perinatal client can benefit from.

I like to say "I like babies, but I LOVE Moms" I'm just a regular Mom that decided starting a family was the next logical step in life. I got pregnant, planned a baby shower, put together a registry and painted a nursery. Then a global pandemic happened and nothing went according to plan. Regardless of what was happening in the world, my healthy and happy baby boy came in May of 2020. The thing about the journey to motherhood is, wether there is a global pandemic or not, it's unpredictable. Having a doula can make all the things that veer off course feel more manageable. I had my second baby in January of 2022 and with the help of my own Doula, I was much more in charge of my birth and postpartum. I knew that being a Doula myself was something that would fill my soul. I love watching women become mothers. I love seeing the way their eyes change when they know exactly what their baby wants. I love the way in which they view the world differently after having a baby. I love the endless feedings, messy houses and sleepless nights, because I know what comes after all that! An AMAZING MOTHER! While you will go through this transformation to Mother with or without me- I would love to be there with you!

Care philosophy

I believe every woman should have the birth they want. Whatever that is- I'm here to do what is in my power to get you your perfect birth. If that means no medication GREAT! If that means epidural in a hospital setting AWESOME! There are no perfect answers when it comes to this question. I do love essential oils, massage and guided meditations.

I want you to feel supported in whatever birth plan you have created for yourself and your baby. I also want you to feel supported if things do not necessarily go as planned. Birth is beautiful and unpredictable! We can plan as much as we want, but it's going to ultimately unfold the way God intended for it. As your Birth Doula, I will be by your side every step of the way, no judgement, just love! We will prepare for your big day with: Childbirth Education, Birth Workbook Exercises, Meditations, Birth Affirmations, Physical Exercises, and Support Calls. I am open to supporting you in your birth in person or virtually.

Care philosophy

I became a Birth Doula because I feel that women should have someone in their corner during one of the biggest events of their life: the birth of their baby! As a mommy of two, I know how important it is to have someone present at your birth who is solely there to support you. It's literally the job of a Doula - and it makes a world of a difference, knowing that that person is there for YOU! Being someone who is a learner and love educating people with what they what to learn I decied to step deeper into the circle of helping moms before, during and after birth rather then only after birth. Taking classes while working and helping family and friends with questions and tips, I've learnt a lot more. Now I'm opening my door to clients, and hope to be as useful and helpful to them as well. I'm found to be an advocate, and great teacher and hope to help people learn and understand what they want from themselves so they can advocate for themselves when needed.

Care philosophy

I find birth should be a natural and beautiful thing. But believe that mom that is educated and informed can have a great birth any way they choose with support and help the way she wants it.

Hello! My name is Elise (she/her), and I’m a certified IDI full spectrum doula. I’ve worked with children for many years in my hometown of Toronto but when I moved to New York I decided I wanted to take my skills to the next level. I want to help the people in my community have empowering and informed pregnancies and births. I believe education and support are the keys to living a higher, elevated life. When I’m not working with birthing people and families, you can find me practicing yoga, meditating, painting, singing and dancing. I also enjoy watching comedies and sci-fi drama series with my husband and my cat, Mittens. I’m looking forward to connecting and getting to know each other more! -E xoxo

Care philosophy

My care philosophy centers around communication & understanding. Not only in the forms of knowledge & information but also when it comes to the body & mental health. Training for birth can be simple with the right support team.

I hired Elise as my birth doula as well as my postpartum doula for daytime/overnight care. She stayed with me the entire time I was giving birth in the hospital. Then she stayed with me overnight at my mother in laws for a week after I gave birth, and a few daytimes at my condo afterwards. I did an induction which was a little scary, but she made sure I knew what was coming and helped me relax so my body could do its thing. She held my hand through most of it. She was very knowledgeable about my baby’s first bath, how to swaddle, how to change a diaper and how to burp. Elise also helped me with my initial latch and encouraged me to continue breastfeeding. She always made sure to keep my condo tidy so when I did have the energy to get up, everything was in order. She cooked a few times for us but my mother in law did most of the cooking. When I started losing hair this year, she gave me a ton of information on what to do so even though she’s not my doula anymore, she still checks in on me and wants to help. She definitely was everything that I expected to get from a doula. I would say I trust her judgement 10/10. She’s reliable, kind, and informative. She was always there for me when I needed her most.

When you hire a birth doula, you add a wealth of knowledge and experience to the incredible journey you are already on. We believe that your birth journey is one that can be enriched with childbirth education, a tuned-ear to the mind and body, and a thorough understanding of your options as women. We recognize and seek to mend the gap in our current maternal health system, and we believe that our clients aim to do the same for themselves.

Care philosophy

The human experience is one that inevitably encounters birth. Whether it is us giving birth or supporting those we love in their birth process; a new soul transforms the community nest. At the moment of conception, a portal opens. We will never know when the portal will close; the way we cannot predict our own completion of life. It’s a powerful state that as women we have absolute authority over.

I have always had interest in birth since the very beginning; as a child you could find me watching “a baby story” on TLC on a daily basis! When I discovered what a doula was and how beautiful the career is, I knew it was something I would love and after supporting my first client I instantly fell in love and was ready for the next birth. I offer a variety of evidence based support such as emotional, physical, and informational support before, during, and after labor and birth.

The way people enter this world truly matters. It matters for them, the birthing person, and for their partner. Now more than ever I want to be a doula to support people in their right to birth the way they want, as much as it is possible. My official birth work journey began in early 2022 when I trained with Birthing Advocacy, but the calling came to me long ago after watching The Business of Being Born. I am a full-spectrum trained doula focusing on birth support. In our work together, we will get to know each other well and work as a team to figure out what birth support may look like for you. I am ready to use my heart, hands, and ears to be there for you emotionally, mentally, and physically during this transformative journey. Please visit my website: www.thenomaddoula.com

Care philosophy

I believe that every birthing person deserves a doula if they want one. I am here to be a peaceful and positive anchor for you during your labor, whether it be in a hospital, birthing center, home, unmedicated or not. You are the expert of your own body, and I will support the decisions you make, and supply you with helpful information to help you make ones that feel good to you.

Dena has worked in private practice since 2012. She has training in various styles and techniques of acupuncture, massage, and auxiliary therapies. Drawing from these, she customizes treatment to respond to each patient, condition, and presentation. Her areas of focus include psychoemotional concerns, women's health, trans health, fatigue syndromes, and pain management. This informs her doula care. Using what she knows of the body, the body-mind connection, and medicine (eastern and allopathic), she is able to bring informed, supportive care. She incorporates ideas from hypnobirthing and spinning babies (for those who are interested) in order to further support birth.

Care philosophy

Dena is passionate about bodily autonomy; her goal is to help each person navigate their birth with confidence and dignity. She knows that each person will have different priorities, preferences, desires, and needs. She aims to help each person find the experience that would be more empowering to them and to work to support them to embody this experience.

Dena is an outstanding doula. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone searching for a doula. She is thoughtful, caring, a great listener and will stand up for you no matter what kind of birth you envision. She helped my partner and I before the birth of our baby by going through every scenario that could happen and encouraged us to have a plan for every eventuality for the birth and postpartum. Dena also helped educate us and helped us to get on the same page with every aspect of the birth. And most importantly she stuck by our sides through the whole birthing process, even though that meant being in the hospital with us for over 24 hours. Dena is very skilled in acupressure and massage and knew exactly what to do to help me get through my contractions. She also went above and beyond for us by taking some great photos and keeping us engaged in wonderful conversations to pass the time during slower parts. Not only did she do all of that but she’s been a huge help postpartum by checking in regularly and asking other birth professionals for help with any concerns she doesn’t have as much expertise with. Dena is truly such a genuine, talented, helpful person whom I’m so grateful to for helping bring our new baby into the world!

As a birth doula, I focus on mindfulness, movement and breath with emphasis on helping birthing folks tap into their innate abilities while keeping them well-informed with evidence-based information. With a nurturing and empathetic spirit, I’m able to be adaptive to each birth. I’m forever grateful for the honor folks bestow upon me to be a part of their birth story. I’m able to offer parts of who I am, while trusting my intuition, protecting the surrounding energy, and helping to create an environment for a powerful transition. Birthwork is a part of all of our shared history. Throughout time, the practice of birthing humans being surrounded and supported by others during this sacred moment is archetypal. As a certified doula, lactation counselor, meditation guide and breathwork facilitator, I continue that lineage by providing support during labor and birth with communication, guided meditation, movement, music, massages, aromatherapy, and most importantly — love. Outside of the birthing world, I am a multi-passionate creative. In all aspects of my adult life, I have found myself creating space for others. Whether it was planning and managing corporate and creative events; hosting a party; or teaching a dance class where everyone felt free to move without judgement, I have always sought to deliver intentional energy, presence and joy to all my interpersonal interactions. I enjoy music, dancing, cooking, photography (architecture, style, and portraits), and writing.

From our first preliminary meeting, I could feel the warmth, expertise, and kindness exuding from Oge. Our mutual philosophies on meditation and self-care spoke to me immediately, but it was her confidence and detailed questions that made me know I wanted her as part of my birth team. The pre-natal classes were so helpful (I had taken some through the hospital, but the depth and care Oge took in her information supplemented those classes perfectly, not to mention I could ask detailed questions as we went), and as my birth neared, her one-on-one text/voice memo/phone call care was invaluable. I had a long early labor so every day I was discovering new things and facing new anxieties. I’m SO lucky I had her to download information from as I went. I highly recommend Oge to anyone looking for a grounded, thoughtful, informed, and rad Doula. She’s just the best.

I have always had a passion for women's health and reproductive rights. As the eldest of 4 children I have acted as my mother’s doula and was present for the birth of my two youngest siblings when I was 15 and 21 years old. Providing support during labor and postpartum is second nature for me. I am also very passionate about the importance of taking charge of our own health and utilizing all the herbal medicines that the Earth provides to us. I love to incorporate herbs into my practice and focus on how our lifestyles and daily routines can impact childbirth and postpartum. I help my clients advocate for themselves, know their birthrights, and offer any form of support they may need. I provide 2-3 prenatal sessions to educate, plan and prepare for birth and postpartum. I stay by my client's side from the start of labor to delivery. And I provide 2-4 postpartum visits (this normally varies on every person's needs). In addition I'm aware that the partner may not always feel included therefore in my sessions I like to encourage both parents to be as involved as possible so everyone has a role in this beautiful journey.

Care philosophy

I believe that birth should be in the hands of the parents. Families have the right to choose how and where they birth. I believe that families should receive full on evidence based information. I like to make sure that my clients are as educated as possible in regards to what's happening in their bodies as well as their birthing rights. I provide unbiased and genuine support to all.

I offer a practice that blends allopathy with naturopathy, as I believe it yields the best results for family as a whole. I offer education, materials, training, education, and light housekeeping as well as newborn care through the night.

Care philosophy

Do no harm. Protect and nurture the family unit at all costs. That’s my mantra. I treat each patient’s care as if if were my own, or my kins. Each baby is as important to me as my own child. Education married to empathy creates change we need in the world.

Hi, I’m Danielle (she/her), your full-spectrum, no-nonsense doula! As your doula, I will hold space for you to deeply connect to your power while also guiding you in becoming centered, enabling you to think clearly & critically. Helping you make informed choices for a positive experience. A positive experience isn't a standardized experience but one where you feel safe, respected, & supported throughout. I know that it can be challenging to breathe & slow down during a heightened and active state of emotion when it comes to our bodies. My doula training incorporated a practice called the Slow Doula Method. SDM helps me slow down to effectively communicate & connect with my clients’ needs while exhibiting self-awareness and humility, free of judgment. My yoga training and personal practice have shown me how to better understand the mind & body connection to feel a greater sense of control not only on a mat but also in life. Through workshops in my community, I’ve gathered the tools to better understand the greater scope of consent, bodily autonomy, & advocacy.

Care philosophy

My goal as your doula isn’t to sway you in any direction. It’s to provide you with unconditional support, tools, & evidence-based information so you can make the BEST decision for yourself! I’ll honor your choices & help you advocate for yourself. I don’t go home with your body or your mind; only you do. Your choices only matter to me in the sense that you feel good about them!

Hi! I'm Alicia, Currently open to working within Brooklyn and Staten Island, NY, I became passionate about birth work after working for an Obstetrics And Gynecology Group for 4+ years. I spent many days offering a hand within the practice, but thought how amazing it would be to follow and support these lovely Mommy's To Be till the very end of their pregnancy, I received my certification in 2019 and have attended 10+ births. Being able to support not only Mom's to be but partners, has been the biggest joy. I was luckily able to attend VBAC, C-Section and Induction Births. I was also able to work throughout the Pandemic via FaceTime and in hospital. Being a Doula has brought me so much joy and many incredible bonds that will be lifelong.

Care philosophy

I believe childbirth is a beautiful, awesomely complex, life-changing, and extremely personal experience. My role as your doula is to provide you with essential, empathetic support by offering a therapeutic presence, a comforting touch, pain management support, and continual guidance to more efficiently communicate with your chosen care provider. I strive for my clients to feel empowered and safe.

Birth is a time of transformation. It is one foot in your old world and one foot in this new one. It is beautiful and awe-inspiring. It is fun (yes, FUN!) with lots of laughter and joy. It’s tears and sadness. It’s many things. And it is also work -- hard work -- both mentally and physically. Sometimes our expectations create more discomfort in childbirth and parenting than the actual pains of labor. Expectations are a normal part of the human experience and so my goal is to help guide you through this transformational time, demystifying the process. As a doula, I offer informational, emotional and physical support for the laboring person (and, if they have one, their partner too). I believe it’s about bringing a calm presence and actively listening to the birthing person's values and needs. I am proud to be a companion and honored to be apart of the welcome committee. It’s knowing someone will always be there to fully support you, asses your needs and do everything in their power to make this experience joyous and deeply empowering. When I say, “you’ve got this.” I truly mean and believe it. Birth isn’t just something that happens, it’s something that should be engaged with care and after having my own child, I felt and experienced the importance of continuous emotional and non-medical support that I did not receive from any other care provider throughout my whole entire pregnancy.

Care philosophy

My philosophy is simple; there is no wrong way to birth as long as your choices and decisions through the journey are being heard and respected. In working together, I hope to co-create the vision for how you would like to feel during your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience. I love helping families move through this time creating confidence in deciding what feels right for them!

I am very grateful to have had Rachel as my doula. She was with us to prepare and during my labor, and she provided a lot of insight and confidence for us during this most precious and precarious time. Her energy was wonderful and I think she was vital to my positive birth experience.

In 2018 I read an article about the increasing black maternal mortality rate in the NY Times. I felt connected to the story since my own pregnancy could have had a dark outcome. At that moment I decided that I wanted to assist humans with their prenatal and postpartum experience, by becoming a doula and receiving my doula certification with Mama Glow. I believe that every expectant human should have a doula, regardless of their family make-up. I am a single mom of one living in New York. I pride myself on being a protector of those I encounter while enforcing the mindset of being gentle with yourself.

Care philosophy

As your doula, I am here to support you and you needs. I will be your champion throughout your pregnancy as well as in the early postpartum period. You will receive emotional support, physical support and comfort measures, education, breastfeeding assistance, and encouragement. We will explore your birth preferences also known as a birth plan. I will advocate for you and help you communicate with

Karma is dedicated in reducing mortality and morbidity in the BIPOC community by providing education and support to mothers and families. If she is not providing childbirth education, she is having patients moving their bodies in yoga, or providing support during and after birth.

I believe in enabling parents to feel safe, autonomous and able to advocate for the birth they want, make educated choices about their preferences, and seek the support they need during all stages of the birth process. I am a huge proponent both of humor and of ritual during birth. I want you to deliver your baby confidently, autonomously, and with joy. LGBTTQIA+ friendly.

Care philosophy

I think the cornerstone for an empowered birth is information and support before, during and after birthing to encourage families that are not only physically but also emotionally and mentally thriving. As a doula I offer emotional, informational and non-clinical physical support for the laboring person (and, if they have one, their partner). I non-judgmentally support families in any setting.

I am a certified Full-Spectrum Doula through Ancient Song Doula Services and Certified Breastfeeding Counselor (CBC) through Birthday Presence. Doula Services: FAQs

A doula is a professional that provides emotional, physical and educational support to new parents before, during, and after childbirth and into the early postpartum period. Doulas are companions who strive to give families a safe, positive, and healthy labor experience. They provide parents with evidence-based information and education on childbirth and are someone who the parent can turn to with questions and concerns about having a baby. Doulas also take an active role in collaborating with the parent to create a birth plan.

A certified birth doula offers advice and techniques to help reduce the stress that the parent often experiences during childbirth and provides you with education about different aspects of delivery and labor and what comes after.

You can hire two types of doulas in Yonkers, NY: a birth doula and a postpartum doula. The birth doula is during your pregnancy and through the birth of your child. They provide you with emotional, physical and educational support during your pregnancy, your labor and delivery and for the first few hours after your child is born.

A postpartum doula will support you for the first few weeks after the baby is born. They provide in-home assistance, including teaching you how to take care of your newborn, acting as lactation consultant, and can provide some night nanny services.

Yes, a birth doula can provide support during a Cesarean birth and delivery. Doulas are non-medical professionals and do not replace obstetricians, physicians, midwives or nurses. They are an additive member to the team and provide emotional, physical and informational support to the birthing parent, partner and family. It is up to you whether the certified doula can remain in the operating room during the procedure.

When you hire a doula in Yonkers, NY, your services typically include several in-person prenatal sessions, 24/7 phone and text support, full attendance throughout your labor, and several hours of support immediately following your birth.

A doula in Yonkers, NY can help you in any kind of birth. Certified doulas are able to assist parents in creating the ideal “birth environment” and help parents deliver their baby safely. A doula can provide support during the birth whether it occurs in a hospital, a home, or another birth center of some kind. Doulas are there to support you in your desired birth preferences, whether that is a preference for natural, non-medicated, assisted, C-section or anything else.

Certified doulas can also act as a liaison between you and hospital staff regarding your childbirth expectations and preferences. For example, if your preference is to have a non-medicated birth, a doula can help guide you through that process and create a personalized birth plan. A certified doula in Yonkers, NY does not replace medical staff (such as your obstetrician and nurses).

When a surgical procedure is required, there are some situations in which a birth doula can also remain in the operating room, although this is not an expected obligation. A certified birth doula can also assist hospital staff to improve the overall birthing experience. A doula in Yonkers, NY will typically stay with the parents for several hours after birth to help them with birth recovery.

Evidence suggests that a birth doula in Yonkers, NY can help improve parent satisfaction with their baby’s birth and delivery. The involvement of a doula can also lead to shorter deliveries with less complications.

Recent studies show that parents who have a support person like a doula by their side throughout labor and childbirth are more likely to:

  1. Give birth without the need for pain medicine
  2. Describe their birth experience in a positive way
  3. Give birth without the need for medical intervention, such as C-sections or vacuum delivery
  4. Experience a shorter labor

You can hire a doula early in your pregnancy to allow you time to get to know each other and to begin planning for your later trimesters, labor, birth, and aftercare. It is ideal to hire a doula when you are around 20 weeks along, but you can start looking for one before that.

It is never too late to hire a doula in Yonkers, NY; you have right up to your due date to find a doula near you and receive all the benefits of doula support.

While many people think that a doula and a midwife are the same thing, their educational background and job duties are different. Doulas are non-medical professionals who provide emotional, physical and educational support, while also offering actionable advice and guidance to new parents about how to nurture their baby.

A midwife is a certified nurse-midwife (CNM) or a certified midwife (CM). CNMs are medical professionals that are certified and licensed by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. CMs are also certified, but they do not have nursing backgrounds.

Doulas are not medical professionals; they focus on the emotional support for the parents and the family before, during, and after the birth of the baby. Their job is to provide information, advice, and support to the family not diagnose any medical conditions or provide medical advice.
