Dena G. | Doula in Queens, NY

    Practice overview

Dena has worked in private practice since 2012. She has training in various styles and techniques of acupuncture, massage, and auxiliary therapies. Drawing from these, she customizes treatment to respond to each patient, condition, and presentation. Her areas of focus include psychoemotional concerns, women's health, trans health, fatigue syndromes, and pain management.
This informs her doula care. Using what she knows of the body, the body-mind connection, and medicine (eastern and allopathic), she is able to bring informed, supportive care. She incorporates ideas from hypnobirthing and spinning babies (for those who are interested) in order to further support birth.

Dena Gold has the perfect name because she is worth her weight in GOLD! Hiring her to be my doula was the best decision of my life. She is the kindest human and supported me on every level (emotionally, physically, spiritually) during a difficult labor and birth. If she wasn’t there I literally don’t know what I would have done. She was a huge support for my husband too. I cannot recommend her highly enough!!

Dena is reliable, friendly, knowledgeable, compassionate, and dedicated. She’s very attentive to her clients’ needs and she’ll always have your back. Dena remains humble while she explains her work which can be really helpful during such an intimate and sensitive time. You can tell that she really cares about her clients. I highly recommend her doula and acupuncture services.

Dena is a very thoughtful and supportive Doula. I have come to learn that even Doula’s need support Doulas as they embark on birth journeys with clients. She has been extremely instrumental in my learning and understanding of the many pathways of birth work and how to show up for the clients that I support. I am happy to have her as a colleague, mentor, and friend. She would be an asset to anyone looking to add her to their birth support team, as well to any Apprentice Doulas learning the ropes.

Dena is an outstanding doula. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone searching for a doula. She is thoughtful, caring, a great listener and will stand up for you no matter what kind of birth you envision. She helped my partner and I before the birth of our baby by going through every scenario that could happen and encouraged us to have a plan for every eventuality for the birth and postpartum. Dena also helped educate us and helped us to get on the same page with every aspect of the birth. And most importantly she stuck by our sides through the whole birthing process, even though that meant being in the hospital with us for over 24 hours. Dena is very skilled in acupressure and massage and knew exactly what to do to help me get through my contractions. She also went above and beyond for us by taking some great photos and keeping us engaged in wonderful conversations to pass the time during slower parts. Not only did she do all of that but she’s been a huge help postpartum by checking in regularly and asking other birth professionals for help with any concerns she doesn’t have as much expertise with. Dena is truly such a genuine, talented, helpful person whom I’m so grateful to for helping bring our new baby into the world!
