  My birthing experience would never have been the same without Cherish. Cherish coached me throughout pregnancy and Even prepared healthy recipes that prepared me for labor. My delivery was scheduled during the height of the pandemic and Thanks to her doula license, she was able to bring her support into the delivery room at a time when only 2 family members were allowed. Because of suspected complications, we decided to birth in the hospital. She created the mood in the room with plants and calming music that made me feel like I was out in nature. Her post partum support was more vital than I could have imagined. At the time she offered belly binding and postpartum meals. My beautiful son deserved nothing less. I am forever grateful for Cherish being my doula.

As I sat down to think about what birth truly meant to me, my mind went directly to how pure and innocent children are. How vulnerable birthing persons are when they are carrying a child and the months immediately after delivery are topics often overlooked. I chose to name my doula services after what a Lily flower represents and what I believe parents should give themselves more of each and every day leading up to and after delivery. Lilies represent purity, fertility, innocence, and rebirth/new life. These all pertain to the beautiful journey of pregnancy and childbirth. Grace is defined as the disposition to an act or instance of kindness, courtesy, or clemency. How many times have you heard someone say “Give yourself, some grace? You are human!”. New mothers and fathers are often their own harshest critics. Children do not come with a manual! Trust me I learned the hard away! They are a gift and divinely assigned to their parents. You learn as you go about your parenting experience and with the help of a doula, you can avoid some bumps along the way!

  I had an amazing experience with Taylor as my doula. She carries so much peace and tranquility. I guarantee if you go with her services she will be a source of knowledge, strength and peace. I was a FTM and she helped guide me and answer so many questions and concerns. She assisted me in how to handle the situation of my newborn being dehydrated while my milk was coming in…I didn’t know what to do and she was literally an angel ! Her encouragement , knowledge and advice in that nerve racking situation helped save my newborn from harm and danger. Also, during my L&D my birth plan was totally changed as I got pre-eclampsia …although disappointed I had to do the best I could…and she rolled with every change while helping me stay calm and focused. I had been doing the doula work LONG before I even knew what a doula was. I just knew that I loved the process of bringing forth life and assisting mothers during the process.   Cynthia was an incredible assest to my daughter and I from day one of her pregnancy! The information she provided throughout was invaluable. Although I had experienced a high risk pregnancy 28 years earlier, I was at a loss when my daughter started experiencing symptoms of what was later diagnosed as cholestasis.   Alyssa exceeded our expectations! She understood our birth plan and eased our concerns and worries we had about giving birth as well! Even though everything was pretty much virtual when it came time to give birth it was like she was in the room with us! I loved how she made sure to include my husband and when we found out due to COVID that she couldn’t be in the room she trained my husband very well on what to do during labor. She is very knowledgeable on all aspects of pregnancy and birth. What really impressed us is that she understood and acknowledged the disparities that existed with me being an African American woman and even gave me tips on how to stand up for myself while in the hospital to be sure that I receive the greatest care available!   Deborah is highly qualified to do childbirths. I had a birth plan in place but my pregnancy had some unexpected issues come up and Deborah stepped in to action and didn’t miss a beat making the entire childbirth a success. She’s a Rockstar doula!

Birth is not only the birth of a child, but also, the birth of a parent. I believe in the power of birthing people. I believe that all births are valid, unique and no matter the type of birth you are seeking, you should feel informed, supported, and confident in your choices. I have always loved pregnant women and babies for as long as I can remember. As a child, I always wanted to hold everybody’s baby. As an adult, I love to hold the woman that carried the baby. I am pretty sure this was one of the reasons I became a surrogate mom, twice to be exact. It was truly an honor to be instrumental in assisting two families with bringing their beautiful babies into the world. Throughout my surrogate journeys I learned the power of time, as well as how to create a space which allowed me to be present in the moment, allow my feelings to flow, to not be ashamed of vulnerability, and to allow others to assist me when I needed it most. This is my own description of what I think doulas should do, not every doula shares this philosophy, so ask lots of questions during your interview! -- Doulas provide emotional and physical support during labor and delivery. But there's so much more to it than that. A doula is who you call at midnight because you just had this "weird thing" and you don't want to call the nurse line/midwife or go to the ER but you just can't sleep! Doula's serve as helpers to everyone in the family. If you already have a support person, but they feel unprepared for birth, we can help guide them in the ways that are most helpful to the laboring person. Doulas are often the connection between an isolated pregnant person and a community around them that they've yet to discover. We talk about trauma and all the heavy things that can impact your labor- and how we can work to reduce those impacts. Sometimes birth is traumatic, and we (as a society) need to work through that trauma to heal from it. Doulas are patient advocates in the hospital, to help insure you're fully informed and YOU are making the medical decisions surrounding your care. Doulas also serve in out of hospital births so midwives are focused on your medical care, and we're focused on you. (Some doulas will assist you in "free birth," however that's generally not my jam.) My mentor refers to her position with pregnant/laboring/delivering people as a coordinator, akin to a wedding planner. Doulas should be prepared to help you navigate and negotiate with your medical care team. We help write and advocate for birth plans. My goal is to fill the gaps so that your birth experience is the best outcome for your individual situation.

I have two children, and I had two very different journeys to becoming their mother.   Having Maddie as a coach has been one of the best experiences of my life and I am forever grateful for what she did for me and the impact she had on my life.

  The best thing about Maddie is that she is authentically interested in your life and your goals. Maddie makes the coaching process fun and light, and at the same time, she brings the rigor necessary for you to succeed. During my coaching process with Maddie, she ALWAYS believed in me, even when I didn’t believe in myself, and she always made me feel that I was capable of reaching my goals. She gave me the confidence that I needed to achieve my goals.

  Another great thing about Maddie is that I could always count on her and she would always show up when I needed her the most. She honors her word. She is very practical and focuses on producing breakthrough results.

  But most importantly, Maddie is a GREAT human being. Everything she does comes from pure love and contribution. And Maddie has the best energy! You will see her smiling 99% of the time and your energy will immediately shift to a positive state.

Hello everyone, my name is Raven Brown; I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois where I've experienced first hand how love and support can make a huge difference in a expected overwhelming situation. I have always wanted to make an impact in my community by empowering others to be able to have and use their voice. I am currently pursuing my nursing degree here in Houston as well. My love for becoming a doula started when I stumbled upon a woman handing out her business cards in front of a Hyde Park record store. After gaining more information, I knew this was a sign and my future calling. I plan on bringing various education tools, one on one support, and endless dedication to my future clients.   Raven is my current doula and allowed me the opportunity to have one in such a hard financial time. She was so understanding and I am feeling more confident as I am anxiously waiting for my son to come.

Being a doula is not my job, it is my journey. I love being a parent, I love raising strong, amazing human beings, and I love helping others see the power they possess and the courage they possess to enter motherhood with someone right beside them their entire journey. Each journey is different for each person and my doula services is definitely not a one-size-fits-all package. You can do this! Let's do it together. My hope and desire are that I show enthusiasm and passion in everything that I put into my service to you as your doula partner.   Ashley assisted us through postpartum care when we adopted our daughter at birth. From the time she was born and over the 6 weeks Ashley was with us, I could not ask for a more caring, loving, willing to do whatever you need person. She allowed me to get some sleep, she prepped meals, she helped me schedule appointments and attended them with us. You are in good hands with Ashley. She never stops learning. One in a million.

I’ve been in the Birth field for over 20 years, I got started as a volunteer attending births, then stayed on to learn the Doula/ Midwives Assistant role and attain my certification through ACHI, The Assoc for Childbirth at Home, Int., and began preparations, study and practice towards my license as a midwife. After so many wonderful experiences and over 2500 births I am now ready to provide the birthing parents with additional tools, knowledge and education. I provide parents with support throughout labor, as well as pregnancy and postpartum. I also provide childbirth education for parents who desire it. Postpartum overnight care. Breastfeeding support. Placenta encapsulation.

  Claudia is an amazing person, advocate, nurterer. She is very knowledgeable and blends well with all needs a family could ask for.

Bee or BriAnna or Bri, the Doula, has been a postpartum, labor & delivery and newborn nursery registered nurse since August 2018. In February 2020, she received her birth doula training through the National Black Doula Association. She also enjoys capturing moments in time with birth, newborn and maternity photography, a hobby she has been skilled in since 2015 (BeeThePhotographer.com). Nature, herbs and the powerful healing energy of plant medicine have fascinated Bee since she discovered how to make mud pies and plant food for her dolls as a little girl. Through learning about pharmacology and western prescription medications, she discovered that Mother Nature, even at its smallest compounds, has provided humans with everything we need to survive. Her passion for childbirth goes back to her early childhood years after seeing her sister carry her nephew to term and becoming addicted to watching “A Birth Story” on TLC every morning. It all came full circle once she began working as a women’s health nurse right after nursing school and also during her journey of self healing, self discovery and spirituality. These experiences have allowed her to provide holistic/individualized support and care to clients using herbs, natural birthing practices and nutritional education.

  “BriAnna is an excellent doula. My entire experience with her was wonderful from beginning to end. I decided to look for a doula because I started to feel anxious about giving birth in my second trimester. I wanted someone that could guide and educate me during my pregnancy and support me during delivery. Her initial consultation immediately put my husband and I at ease. She is very personable, knowledgeable and professional. It’s a major plus that she is a labor and delivery RN. She knows so much regarding childbirth and has so much insight on various birth scenarios. She also has so many tips and remedies to deal with the discomforts of pregnancy.

  BriAnna is a pro in the labor room offering constant support physically, emotionally and mentally. She helped cater to my every need to help make me as comfortable as possible. She provided counter pressure on my back as I labored, fed me ice chips, fanned me, helped me change birthing positions, and consistently gave me words of encouragement. Without BriAnna by my side, I don’t think I would have been able to stick with my unmedicated birth plan.

  Now let’s talk photography. The doula package I got included maternity, birth and newborn photography. BriAnna did an absolutely amazing job. She is so easy to work with and the pictures came out great. It was so convenient not having to shop around for a photographer to capture these precious moments. The newborn photos are my favorite.”

I am a mom of 2 boys and have 4 years experience with pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I want to help women have the best birth experience they can and be able to express their needs and desires for their birth plan or how they want to labor. I would love to have 2+ clients a month and have a good connection with each one beyond superficially. I want to normalize home births or natural births. I will support your decision with how you want to manage your pain whether it be essential oils and focal points or the epidural. I want your labor and birth experience to be as easy and relaxing as it physically and mentally can be.

I became a doula in 2013 when I realized it was the only job I'd ever wanted. I took my first training with CAPPA, and have since trained with multiple doula organizations and highly-skilled doulas. I continue to train and build my skills every year. I love working with families who break the mold--who build their family on their own terms with love and courage.   “Before meeting Chelsey, my idea of a quintessential doula was a crunchy hippie who smelled like essential oils and shrieked when you said the word epidural like you mentioned Voldemort. I wanted a medicated birth, and because of that alone, I never thought I’d have a doula. Little did I know, a doula that is truly doing her job is supportive of whatever birth plan the mother wants. It is primarily her (or his) job to support the mother, including if she wants medication.

  Chelsey provided me with valuable information to support my entire pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey. She helped me with my diet, my baby registry, my mental health, and frequently checked in after my doctor’s appointments. She educated me on what to expect during the birth so that I had less anxiety surrounding what I knew nothing about at the time. She also met with my husband and I on how he could help me through contractions at home before I went to the hospital.

  While my husband would have loved to play the traditional role of my birth coach, he was extremely grateful that Chelsey filled that responsibility and took the pressure off of him. She was supportive of my birth plan and I’d hire her again in a heartbeat as a critical member of my birth team should the need arise again.”
