I got bit by the birth bug when I began researching during my first pregnancy. Usually when I get on a roll with something fascinating, I need to be jolted away before I’ll stop on my own. Well, despite many a jolt, I never stopped, because it seemed the path was leading me to the world of birth work — a place full of mystery, intrigue, beauty, and heart. Kind of hard to resist! I took Birth Boot Camp classes during my second pregnancy and was so impressed by the curriculum. It’s thorough, modern, and it appealed just as well to my husband. I had so much fun as a student in class, I thought how I’d love to become an instructor one day! Becoming a doula felt like a natural progression in this journey as I love to be “on the ground” in a birth setting, in the heart of the action, as well as in front of a class. As a doula, I love sharing resources and information because knowledge is power! I also encourage my clients to dive deep in introspection, ask lots of questions, grow confidence in their autonomy, and get clarity on what they truly want. There is so much to gain from taking accountability -- and I am here to help things run more smoothly along your journey.   “Holly was my doula and birthing class instructor. My husband and I took her comprehensive birthing class which helped us to prepare for the birth of our first baby. The class covered a lot of important topics including what labor is like and comfort measures.

  I had a homebirth with a long labor and the comfort measures really helped me to cope with it. As my doula, Holly was supportive and encouraging. She helped with counter pressure when I had back labor, provided emotional support during transition, and made sure I stayed hydrated. Her presence was very calming.

My doula journey began in 2008 after the birth of my own child. Although my experience was incredible, the sequence of events lead me to question how things could have been different. I then began researching and learning all that I could about the options birthing people and their partners had during birth. My goal then was to help support families anyway I could and ensure they never felt alone, pressured, or without choice; and 12 years later, it remains the same. My attitude toward birth is very modern and balanced. There is no one size fits all approach to people so there can’t be when welcoming a new human to the world. Regardless of your birth choices, I will support you and ensure you are respected no matter what. Hospital or home, in water or in a bed, midwife or doctor I will stand next to you and your partner with kind eyes and a calm touch. I am also currently adding a Hypnobabies certification to better serve my clients! Whether you have searched for a doula for your fertility, birth, or postpartum period (or all 3!) you may be overwhelmed with the list of questions you would like answered. Krystah is a Navy veteran, military spouse, mother, and Houston birth keeper. She has three children, three dogs and a partner that supports her wildest dreams to serve her clients. She juggles lifes crazy all while homeschooling her children. You will often find her making home remedies, supporting the freebirth movement, empowering people, and drinking a large cup of herbal tea.   I hired Krystah for post partum care in the hospital for two nights. Hiring her was absolutely the best decision I made. Krystah is very personable and professional. She took great care of me and my new born. I could get the much needed rest as Krystah cared for my baby through the night. She is very knowledgeable about alternative medicine and caring for new borns. She was very punctual and responsive. I higly recommend her to someone who is looking for quality care for the baby and mother likewise.

Tania has been preparing birthing couples since 2013. Unhappy with the support she received during her first birth, her sister encouraged her to take an independent childbirth class. Her second birth was healing and her third birth was empowering. This started her passion for safe, natural when possible, and empowering birth. She has since become trained in Spinning Babies, Rebozo use during labor, and Neonatal Resuscitation. She has taught almost 200 couples and attended dozens of births, either as doula support or as a midwife birth assistant. Tania is married to her best friend of 10 years and they have 3 vivacious children together. When she is not reading articles about birth, she can be found chasing her kids around the park or folding laundry. It’s a toss up.

I meet with clients regularly, throughout their pregnancy and check in on my clients, on average, once per week. I believe the key to a great birth experience is in preparation, so we do a lot of work before Labor Day. Labor is a vulnerable time for both the birthing person and their intimate support team, honoring that through relationship building is my primary goal. I work closely with your medical team to ensure you are informed and consented about all procedures. My goal is for each family to love the day their baby was born and remember it joyously. I grew up in and around Houston for the most part. I met my husband when I was 21 and married him when I was 25. We have birthed four children together and have three surviving children living at home with us now. My first daughter was born in 2001 during tropical storm Allison in the medical center and was with us for twelve short weeks. We loved her as hard as we could while she was here and she has forever changed the landscape of our lives. We are grateful for every moment we had and she taught us to love deeply and with abandon. We were lucky enough to welcome our second child in 2003 at the same hospital. With this birth I was able to focus and really work toward achieving the birth experience I knew I wanted. Our third child was born five years later at a freestanding birth center – my first water birth with a doula. And our happy last came along a few years later in 2011 – born in our home under the supervision of a loving home birth midwife and four amazing doulas – four. I love to spend time with my family traveling, but mostly we stay home, play at the park, cook, go bowling, watch movies and read. I love to read. I have two fur babies that are pretty sure they are my real babies and those humans are usurping their position. I am one of the luckiest people in the world.

  Kathleen was my doula for 3 unmedicated VBACs in a hospital setting – all of which were high risk pregnancies. After having an unplanned and traumatic C-section with my 1st pregnancy, I knew I needed to hire a doula for any subsequent pregnancies. Kathleen helped me process my c-section and validated my feelings. She worked with my husband and myself in several home and office visits prior to all births. She offered great mental, emotional and physical support during the entire process. She worked very collaboratively with my OBGYN and was well respected by all hospital staff.
  Kathleen was my person during all labors (and my husband is grateful for her as well). She always knows the right reassuring things to say as needed and the physical touch to give. She always knew what I needed – even when I didn’t know what I needed. She is truly magical in helping me achieve 3 unmedicated and beautiful VBACs.

I sought to become a doula when I was pregnant with my youngest - I feel in love with birth itself and read everything I could to prepare my mind and body the best I could. After walking through intense trauma from his birth (situational, not medical), it only solidified my resolve to become a doula to come alongside other young moms or single moms or women in abusive situations, to support them in this precious time, when no one else will be their voice.
