It’s because of her I have more confidence in my decision making when comes to family planning. It’s been a rough start but with having Tiffany’s guidance and knowledge has definitely given me the confidence that I needed to move forward. Thank you so much.

Jay was amazing during the delivery of my son. He was there for whatever I needed and truly dedicated. He was sympathetic and very informative, his experience in the medical field was invaluable and he helped us through a difficult birth. My husband was even more so grateful to have him there and be able to count on him through out everything. He offered great comfort during a very intense time and I will be forever grateful.

I have been a Doula for 10 years. I am a Bradley method natural childbirth teacher for 11. I attend home, hospital and independent (free births) births. I offer discounts for birth classes to my Doula clients and vise versa. I am a mother of 6. I am a Breastfeeding advocate. I am a baby wearer. I teach cloth diapering. I limit my client intake to no more than 2 clients per month. I feel that it allows for more personal attention and allows for my classes and other services.

Care philosophy

I believe in birth. We are made to give birth. Education goes a long way in helping us make decisions we can stand behind. It lets us know our options. All births matter home or hospital, medicated or natural as long as you are making your own choices. I support ALL Births, as long as your choices are informed and you feel confident in your choices that's all that matters.

Coming from a massage therapist background, my goal is to help you balance your body with exercises and movements that address your unique posture and daily habits. A balanced body has optimal space for baby to move and get into the best position for labor - and that makes all the difference in delivery! By addressing postural nuances in pregnancy you can have an easier labor/delivery and recovery, which frees you up to bond with your baby in that post birth glow!

Care philosophy

I believe that birth is a moment for you to have agency over your body and to sink into your inner knowing. I believe that birth can be an incredibly empowering moment for you and the family you are expanding. That is the core of my philosophy on birth. It’s about the journey to get to meet your baby, and I want to help you have the best journey possible!

1 reviews • 24 families supported • 2019 years experience

Hi, I’m Quanisha. I’m a creative writer, full-spectrum doula, licensed massage therapist, and infant and family sleep specialist who guides families through different paths into and through parenting. I’m on a mission to align and support you and your new family’s needs so we can create a gratifying experience on this transformative journey.

Care philosophy

I believe the transformation through parenting blooms through inner work, awareness, practice, unlearning, learning, stillness, activity, and challenging the beliefs that hold you back. My belief about childbirth and postpartum is that it needs a nurturing space that caters to the individual desires of the birthing person and their partners. This paves the way to a great start to parenting.

Quanisha was overall amazing! My husband was a little reserved about having a doula and after we had our baby he says he won’t do it again without one. She was extremely professional, helpful, answered all of my questions and advocated for me and my wishes. She helped my husband navigate the birthing process and made sure I was okay with everything. I remember texting her in a panic because of a possible induction and she put my mind at ease right away when no one else could. Quanisha is the doula every mama needs!

My role as a birth doula is to allow a woman to labor as comfortably as possible. My job is to help find comfortable positions that will help labor progress and support a woman to have a great birth experience. Making sure a woman and her partner is educated and informed about any interventions so they can make a good decision for them is part of my job, but I will never speak for my clients to any medical staff.

Care philosophy

I follow physiological birth practices as much as possible. I believe that birth is a natural process and that a woman is capable of going through the labor process with as few or no interventions as possible. My role is to help that process go as smoothly and to help the women find comfortable positions that will help with the process of labor and delivery.

Hi! I’m Kristalyn Huber and I am a Certified Birth, Bereavement, and Postpartum Doula. My love for birth work began when I was 10 upon witnessing my youngest sibling come into the world. Over the course of the next few years my love for birth work really solidified and I knew I wanted to become a doula after witnessing a few more of my family’s births. Being a part of so many families experiences has taught me so much and I am continually in awe of the birth process and how much I still have yet to learn. Welcoming new life into the world is a life changing miraculous event and I am so humbled that I get to witness it first hand so many times.

Care philosophy

My care philosophy is to make sure you know your options, make you feel heard, and support your wishes for YOUR birth and/or postpartum experience. Every story is unique and I will endeavor to support you in a way that will allow and encourage you to achieve your goals and desires for your birth.

In a past life, I was a traveller. I roamed the country selling handmade wares at artists markets around the US. In my off time, I would devour books about birth and midwifery and I knew when I settled in the Austin area that I would begin my path as a birth worker. I have been a doula for over five years now, with a brief hiatus to birth and raise my own wild toddler. I find so much fulfilment in seeing people become parents and my hope is that you always feel supported, respected, and heard throughout the journey.

Care philosophy

I believe there is magic and beauty present in all births, from unmedicated to cesarean. My goal as a doula is to provide the support and care necessary to create a birth experience where you feel respected and empowered.

I've been working with children and parents for over 10 years, in many different ways from teaching, newborn care, consulting and more. After the first time I provided postpartum care 4 years ago, I knew I wanted to do more outside of a classroom. I received my certification to be a Birth Doula last year, so far I have attended both vaginal and cesarean births. My interest is in supporting births in home as well as birth centers, and hospital births as well. Regardless of the location, I provide care and education that promotes mother-led births to empower both parents for the labor/birth experience they desire. I understand that not all parents are interested in or able to have a Doula present as birth so I opened up my services to families looking for a Maternity Consultant. As your Baby Planner aka Maternity I prepare you for birth as well as parenthood with pregnancy nutritional information, birth prep, prenatal yoga sessions, nursery organization and more. Whether you are looking for a Birth Doula or Maternity Consultant, my goal is to make sure you feel prepared and address every fear I can to remove it & reassure you that, you are fully equipped.

Care philosophy

The foundation of the care I give is both evidence+ faith-based. It is important to help create a connection that is not only in preparation for the birth, but preparation for a family. A customized approach of care plays a huge part in my support. Every birth is different, every child is different, every family is different. I want each family to be confident in their decision making, always.

Doula Services: FAQs

A doula is a professional that provides emotional, physical and educational support to new parents before, during, and after childbirth and into the early postpartum period. Doulas are companions who strive to give families a safe, positive, and healthy labor experience. They provide parents with evidence-based information and education on childbirth and are someone who the parent can turn to with questions and concerns about having a baby. Doulas also take an active role in collaborating with the parent to create a birth plan.

A certified birth doula offers advice and techniques to help reduce the stress that the parent often experiences during childbirth and provides you with education about different aspects of delivery and labor and what comes after.

There are two ways you can hire a doula through Meela in San Antonio, TX.

You can browse through the available doulas in San Antonio, TX and send the doulas you are interested in a message, introducing yourself and setting up an interview. We recommend interviewing at least three before hiring your top doula.

You can also hire a doula in San Antonio, TX in three easy steps:

  1. Post a job for free: answer some questions and receive responses from top-rated doulas in San Antonio, TX. It takes less than 30 seconds to post your job.
  1. Get your list of San Antonio, TX doulas: in a few hours, you will have a collection of doulas near you who are qualified to meet your needs. You can compare pricing, experience and read reviews. You can chat with each doula to learn more about them.
  1. Hire a doula with confidence: schedule virtual or in-person interviews with your top doula choices. Hire your top doula and start getting the care you deserve.

While the cost of a doula can vary based on experience and the services offered, the average cost of a doula in San Antonio, TX is $959, but can typically range from $774 to $1,144. These costs are based on a representative group of 28 doulas surveyed by Meela in the San Antonio area. The average cost of a doula in San Antonio, TX is about the same as the average cost of a doula in the state of Texas, which is $914.

To put this in further context, the cost of a doula in San Antonio, TX is about the same as the U.S. national average cost of a doula, which is $971.

When hiring a birth doula in San Antonio, TX, you and your doula will discuss and agree upon a fee structure, and your doula will send you itemized invoices through Meela, which you can pay securely through the app.

Some insurance companies will cover all or part of the cost of hiring a doula. Contact your insurance company to find out if they offer any coverage for hiring a doula; not all insurance companies do.

You can hire two types of doulas in San Antonio, TX: a birth doula and a postpartum doula. The birth doula is during your pregnancy and through the birth of your child. They provide you with emotional, physical and educational support during your pregnancy, your labor and delivery and for the first few hours after your child is born.

A postpartum doula will support you for the first few weeks after the baby is born. They provide in-home assistance, including teaching you how to take care of your newborn, acting as lactation consultant, and can provide some night nanny services.

Yes, a birth doula can provide support during a Cesarean birth and delivery. Doulas are non-medical professionals and do not replace obstetricians, physicians, midwives or nurses. They are an additive member to the team and provide emotional, physical and informational support to the birthing parent, partner and family. It is up to you whether the certified doula can remain in the operating room during the procedure.

When you hire a doula in San Antonio, TX, your services typically include several in-person prenatal sessions, 24/7 phone and text support, full attendance throughout your labor, and several hours of support immediately following your birth.

A doula in San Antonio, TX can help you in any kind of birth. Certified doulas are able to assist parents in creating the ideal “birth environment” and help parents deliver their baby safely. A doula can provide support during the birth whether it occurs in a hospital, a home, or another birth center of some kind. Doulas are there to support you in your desired birth preferences, whether that is a preference for natural, non-medicated, assisted, C-section or anything else.

Certified doulas can also act as a liaison between you and hospital staff regarding your childbirth expectations and preferences. For example, if your preference is to have a non-medicated birth, a doula can help guide you through that process and create a personalized birth plan. A certified doula in San Antonio, TX does not replace medical staff (such as your obstetrician and nurses).

When a surgical procedure is required, there are some situations in which a birth doula can also remain in the operating room, although this is not an expected obligation. A certified birth doula can also assist hospital staff to improve the overall birthing experience. A doula in San Antonio, TX will typically stay with the parents for several hours after birth to help them with birth recovery.

Evidence suggests that a birth doula in San Antonio, TX can help improve parent satisfaction with their baby’s birth and delivery. The involvement of a doula can also lead to shorter deliveries with less complications.

Recent studies show that parents who have a support person like a doula by their side throughout labor and childbirth are more likely to:

  1. Give birth without the need for pain medicine
  2. Describe their birth experience in a positive way
  3. Give birth without the need for medical intervention, such as C-sections or vacuum delivery
  4. Experience a shorter labor

You can hire a doula early in your pregnancy to allow you time to get to know each other and to begin planning for your later trimesters, labor, birth, and aftercare. It is ideal to hire a doula when you are around 20 weeks along, but you can start looking for one before that.

It is never too late to hire a doula in San Antonio, TX; you have right up to your due date to find a doula near you and receive all the benefits of doula support.

While many people think that a doula and a midwife are the same thing, their educational background and job duties are different. Doulas are non-medical professionals who provide emotional, physical and educational support, while also offering actionable advice and guidance to new parents about how to nurture their baby.

A midwife is a certified nurse-midwife (CNM) or a certified midwife (CM). CNMs are medical professionals that are certified and licensed by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. CMs are also certified, but they do not have nursing backgrounds.

Doulas are not medical professionals; they focus on the emotional support for the parents and the family before, during, and after the birth of the baby. Their job is to provide information, advice, and support to the family not diagnose any medical conditions or provide medical advice.
