Blessings Beautiful Birthing Sovereigns, My name is Cherish Peacewalker and I have been assisting families and single birthers for over 15 years now. I started off as a Licensed Massage Therapist in Houston, Tx and shortly after became a Certified Doula through Memorial Hermann Hospital. After my sister asked me to massage her during her labor process, I knew this was what I was meant to do. The miracle that I saw that day changed my life forever. About 5 years later I moved to the Bay Area, California where I got Certified again in Massage as well as becoming a Birth and Postpartum Doula at Cornerstone Doula Trainings in San Francisco. They specialize in working with the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities and this was something that was also very important to me. Since then I have studied and worked with indigenous elders from many different backgrounds including India, Native American Elders, Mexico, Asia and more. It is important to me to meet people where they are and respect all walks of life because no two people are made the same, just like each of these beautiful babies. I offer Full Spectrum Doula care from start to finish with packages that include but are not limited to; Massage, Birth & Postpartum Doula, In Home Support, Belly & Bone Binding, Yoni Steaming, Holistic Pelvic Care, Birth Prep Coaching and Classes. I would be happy to set up a FREE consultation and send you a FREE e-book to help you get on your way and make the best decision for one of the most important times in your life. You deserve to be seen, heard and experienced with compassion and care.

Care philosophy

I believe a peaceful and powerful birth is possible for every birthing person and it starts on the inside, literally and figuratively. As a Somatic Birth Worker and Touch Therapist I've learned that birthing does start from within and it's all about unwinding the trauma that's been repressed BEFORE we give birth. When we feel supported, held and heard we have the power & potential to do anything!

My birthing experience would never have been the same without Cherish. Cherish coached me throughout pregnancy and Even prepared healthy recipes that prepared me for labor. My delivery was scheduled during the height of the pandemic and Thanks to her doula license, she was able to bring her support into the delivery room at a time when only 2 family members were allowed. Because of suspected complications, we decided to birth in the hospital. She created the mood in the room with plants and calming music that made me feel like I was out in nature. Her post partum support was more vital than I could have imagined. At the time she offered belly binding and postpartum meals. My beautiful son deserved nothing less. I am forever grateful for Cherish being my doula.

My passion for doula work was born from my own experience of postpartum depression after giving birth to my son. With the help of my doula, I was able to put words to the emotions I was feeling and better communicate my needs to my partner and support network. This experience inspired me to become a doula so that I could offer the same invaluable support to other women during the transformative journey of motherhood.

Care philosophy

My values are centered around conscious care, cultivated community, and curated confidence. I prioritize holistic self-care rituals, promoting rejuvenation for motherhood. Together, we'll combat isolation by connecting with a curated mama community. Lastly, I'll empower you with evidence-based resources and local vetted recommendations tailored to your unique journey.

As I sat down to think about what birth truly meant to me, my mind went directly to how pure and innocent children are. How vulnerable birthing persons are when they are carrying a child and the months immediately after delivery are topics often overlooked. I chose to name my doula services after what a Lily flower represents and what I believe parents should give themselves more of each and every day leading up to and after delivery. Lilies represent purity, fertility, innocence, and rebirth/new life. These all pertain to the beautiful journey of pregnancy and childbirth. Grace is defined as the disposition to an act or instance of kindness, courtesy, or clemency. How many times have you heard someone say “Give yourself, some grace? You are human!”. New mothers and fathers are often their own harshest critics. Children do not come with a manual! Trust me I learned the hard away! They are a gift and divinely assigned to their parents. You learn as you go about your parenting experience and with the help of a doula, you can avoid some bumps along the way!

Care philosophy

The extensive training I have as a doula allows me to be a sweet asset to your birth and postpartum team! My approach is that of collaborative care with as much education prior to delivery as possible so clients can make informed decisions about their childbirth journey. No two journeys are ever the same! Let’s work together to create a space that empowers you to birth the way your body wants to!

I had an amazing experience with Taylor as my doula. She carries so much peace and tranquility. I guarantee if you go with her services she will be a source of knowledge, strength and peace. I was a FTM and she helped guide me and answer so many questions and concerns. She assisted me in how to handle the situation of my newborn being dehydrated while my milk was coming in…I didn’t know what to do and she was literally an angel ! Her encouragement , knowledge and advice in that nerve racking situation helped save my newborn from harm and danger. Also, during my L&D my birth plan was totally changed as I got pre-eclampsia …although disappointed I had to do the best I could…and she rolled with every change while helping me stay calm and focused. I thank God for her assistance in having a positive birth experience!

I have been supporting families as a birth and postpartum doula since 2008. While I have transitioned birth work from doula support to home birth midwifery care, I still value and appreciate the need for postpartum support of new moms, and look forward to opportunities to help new moms settle into life with a new baby.

Care philosophy

As a postpartum doula my role is to support new families with adjusting to life with a new baby. I provide breastfeeding support and education, and offer evidence based suggestions for caring for newborns. As a midwife I provide the same schedule of care that an OB would provide, but with a different model and approach, with the goal being a satisfying home birth experience.

I have known Laverne Reid for the past several years. since our first encounter back in 2013. I met her at a church we both attended and was drawn to her because I noticed a kind spirited, amicable, and principled personality. Then, and now, I know Laverne to be patient and understanding, not easily angered, dependable, reliable, always giving words of encouragement, and helps keep me grounded in reality.

Most of my experience with Laverne came from interaction with her, not only in church activities, but also in caring for my 3 children. She sat my children for approximately 2 years. As babies, I felt my children were in safe hands. They were well taken care of, and she ensured they had the most nutritious meals while they were in her care. She ensured they had aged appropriate activities and would always give me report of what the children did during the day. She went above and beyond by spending extra hours with the children on days when shift report was taking longer than usual which made me leave work late. My children love Laverne and always want to visit her and her children because of her personality.

I highly recommend her in her endeavors. I know you will have a similar experience because she has a kind personality.

My name is Jaci (pronounced Jackie), and I started my doula journey back in 2020. Birth has always fascinated me, so when I jumped in head first it felt like a whole new world of knowledge opened up! I learned so much about the body and how it responds during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. The different stages babies go through in their development and how to help families feel confident in their day to day lives! What started out as a fascination quickly became a career I love and a passion I get to pursue on a daily basis.

Care philosophy

I believe that everyone should have the birth they desire, whatever that might look like. I come alongside of families and help answer any questions they might have, but ultimately give them non-judgmental support. Too many providers forget that this is your baby, and we are here to support your decisions. Selah is Hebrew for a musical pause, rest, or breath. How can I help you breathe?

I had been doing the doula work LONG before I even knew what a doula was. I just knew that I loved the process of bringing forth life and assisting mothers during the process. My doula life was birth out of my friends allowing me to be present for them. Hello, I'm Swaá—pronounced 'sway'—a California native now calling Cypress, TX, in the HTX area, home. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and am a certified Birth Doula by DONA. Committed to ongoing education, I strive to enhance my skills to better support your unique needs. My journey into birth work started during undergrad, where I researched infant and maternal mortality rates in the US. Disturbed by the disparities, particularly for Black women, I felt a calling to make a difference. This led me to become a doula, redirecting my path with purpose. Initially drawn to home and birthing center deliveries, my focus expanded to encompass hospital births, recognizing the essential need for education, advocacy, and support. Under the guidance of a remarkable mentor, a Licensed Midwife with over two decades of experience, I've served over 40 families and actively participated in the Healthy Start Program, contributing to underserved communities since May 2022. If there's ever anything beyond my scope, I ensure to provide tailored resources. I'm honored to serve my families and feel blessed to witness the success of many births.

Care philosophy

I uphold a simple philosophy: supporting your birth as you envision it. My approach is defined by patience, calmness, attentiveness, and love—all seen through a holistic lens that considers nutrition, physical well-being, and mental health. Birth is not only the birth of a child, but also, the birth of a parent. I believe in the power of birthing people. I believe that all births are valid, unique and no matter the type of birth you are seeking, you should feel informed, supported, and confident in your choices. I have always loved pregnant women and babies for as long as I can remember. As a child, I always wanted to hold everybody’s baby. As an adult, I love to hold the woman that carried the baby. I am pretty sure this was one of the reasons I became a surrogate mom, twice to be exact. It was truly an honor to be instrumental in assisting two families with bringing their beautiful babies into the world. Throughout my surrogate journeys I learned the power of time, as well as how to create a space which allowed me to be present in the moment, allow my feelings to flow, to not be ashamed of vulnerability, and to allow others to assist me when I needed it most. As a result of this, I have learned with my own birth clients to create space to allow mom time, time to labor as she chooses to, move in a way that she deems most comfortable, and birth how she needs too. I am passionate about supporting women in entrusting their bodies, centering their healing, prioritizing their mental health and welcoming the new version of themselves. Another thing I have become very passionate about is Dads. I like to help dads recognize their power and presence throughout the pregnancy and birth experience. When I am not doing birth work I am pretty low key, I like spending time with family, being silly with my kids, working out, doing yoga, going for walks in nature, reading books, long baths and being a new plant mom.

Your birth is just as unique as you are. I am here to encourage and empower you to connect with your body and baby, one birth at a time!

While living abroad a few years ago, I discovered the joy of helping mothers through the ups and downs of the fourth trimester. I myself had a hard time postpartum without much support, so it felt wonderful to make a difference in others' postpartum experiences. I have two children, and I had two very different journeys to becoming their mother. I know firsthand that no pregnancy, birth or postpartum experience is the same as another, but I believe everyone deserves to have a beautiful journey regardless. Every birth giver deserves to have the knowledge to make the correct decisions for themselves, and the respect to get what they want. I struggled with Unexplained Secondary Infertility when trying to conceive my second child. During the fertility testing, medication, shots, and eventually pregnancy, I read and read and read so many books on fertility, pregnancy, conception and birth. I became fascinated with the process; that infatuation is what led to my desire to become a doula. I want to turn everything I've read, and everything I've learned during my doula training into helping provide a safe space for birth givers to dream of what they want, and to help them become empowered to advocate for their desires. I'm there with the guidebook, but it's your job to implement the steps. I am a full-spectrum doula. I provide guidance and support in all aspects of the birthing process. I have a heart to help you during your journey in whatever form you want, whatever steps you take.

Care philosophy

I believe all births are beautiful, and all birthing people deserve to have the pregnancy, birthing and postpartum experiences they want. I believe no matter the journey you choose, you deserve to be fully informed in your decisions so that you can be fully confident in your choices. I will create a safe space and help you advocate for those choices so that you can feel empowered as a birth giver

My name is Julie. I am a mom to a beautiful 13 yr. old girl and a 18 mo. old black lab. I am also a Newborn Care Specialist, Lactation Educator, and an aspiring Postpartum Doula. My hobbies are spending time with my family and friends, along with reading and walking our pup. I have just began to pursue my love for photography, and would love the chance to take more pictures for the families I serve. My interest in babies really began when I was a preteen. My mom was a teacher and I began babysitting for her co-workers. This steam-rolled into referrals and more and more experience. I began working at a local daycare in the infant room and then pursued one on one care as a nanny to 18mos old twins. The next several years led to even more newborn nanny families and this opened up doors to specialized trainings. I've trained in sleep conditioning, newborn care, twins and multiple care, and even lactation education. I love learning, and I hope to have even more trainings and certifications under my belt in the near future. The families I have served throughout the years have given me the chance to gain the experiences I desire to take on even more challenges, and I know will be a great asset in the all my future families.

Care philosophy

My philosophy is care. I absolutely love what I do for the families I serve, and I believe empathy, compassion and most of all education are what families need most. A new baby brings joy and excitement, but also worry and self-doubt. Whether families are newbies or seasoned I am a form of constant support bringing with me care and compassion during this new life transition.

Ashley assisted us through postpartum care when we adopted our daughter at birth. From the time she was born and over the 6 weeks Ashley was with us, I could not ask for a more caring, loving, willing to do whatever you need person. She allowed me to get some sleep, she prepped meals, she helped me schedule appointments and attended them with us. You are in good hands with Ashley. She never stops learning. One in a million.

I’ve been in the Birth field for over 20 years, I got started as a volunteer attending births, then stayed on to learn the Doula/ Midwives Assistant role and attain my certification through ACHI, The Assoc for Childbirth at Home, Int., and began preparations, study and practice towards my license as a midwife. After so many wonderful experiences and over 2500 births I am now ready to provide the birthing parents with additional tools, knowledge and education. I provide parents with support throughout labor, as well as pregnancy and postpartum. I also provide childbirth education for parents who desire it. Postpartum overnight care. Breastfeeding support. Placenta encapsulation.

Care philosophy

Evidence Based, Gentle Educated Approach to pregnancy, labor and delivery, based on parents needs, Bradley Method, Le Boyer Method. Freedom of choice and emphasizing Patient Rights. A combination of practiced and learned techniques pain relief and troubleshooting things as they come up. Emphasis on informed consent during the labor period. I was an interning midwife in another state so my experience goes beyond the usual Doula experience.

Bee or BriAnna or Bri, the Doula, has been a postpartum, labor & delivery and newborn nursery registered nurse since August 2018. In February 2020, she received her birth doula training through the National Black Doula Association. She also enjoys capturing moments in time with birth, newborn and maternity photography, a hobby she has been skilled in since 2015 (BeeThePhotographer.com). Nature, herbs and the powerful healing energy of plant medicine have fascinated Bee since she discovered how to make mud pies and plant food for her dolls as a little girl. Through learning about pharmacology and western prescription medications, she discovered that Mother Nature, even at its smallest compounds, has provided humans with everything we need to survive. Her passion for childbirth goes back to her early childhood years after seeing her sister carry her nephew to term and becoming addicted to watching “A Birth Story” on TLC every morning. It all came full circle once she began working as a women’s health nurse right after nursing school and also during her journey of self healing, self discovery and spirituality. These experiences have allowed her to provide holistic/individualized support and care to clients using herbs, natural birthing practices and nutritional education.

“BriAnna is an excellent doula. My entire experience with her was wonderful from beginning to end. I decided to look for a doula because I started to feel anxious about giving birth in my second trimester. I wanted someone that could guide and educate me during my pregnancy and support me during delivery. Her initial consultation immediately put my husband and I at ease. She is very personable, knowledgeable and professional. It’s a major plus that she is a labor and delivery RN. She knows so much regarding childbirth and has so much insight on various birth scenarios. She also has so many tips and remedies to deal with the discomforts of pregnancy.

BriAnna is a pro in the labor room offering constant support physically, emotionally and mentally. She helped cater to my every need to help make me as comfortable as possible. She provided counter pressure on my back as I labored, fed me ice chips, fanned me, helped me change birthing positions, and consistently gave me words of encouragement. Without BriAnna by my side, I don’t think I would have been able to stick with my unmedicated birth plan.

Now let’s talk photography. The doula package I got included maternity, birth and newborn photography. BriAnna did an absolutely amazing job. She is so easy to work with and the pictures came out great. It was so convenient not having to shop around for a photographer to capture these precious moments. The newborn photos are my favorite.”

I am a mom of 2 boys and have 4 years experience with pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I want to help women have the best birth experience they can and be able to express their needs and desires for their birth plan or how they want to labor. I would love to have 2+ clients a month and have a good connection with each one beyond superficially. I want to normalize home births or natural births. I will support your decision with how you want to manage your pain whether it be essential oils and focal points or the epidural. Postpartum Doula Services: FAQs

For most parents, the transition into early parenthood is hard. Postpartum doulas in Houston, TX offer all sorts of practical, physical, informational and emotional support to new parents. Postpartum doulas in Houston, TX offer a wide range of after-birth support services, including:

  3. Offering advice for baby soothing, diapering and bathing

  5. Caring for older siblings

  7. Night nannying or sleep relief services

Some parents require additional physical and emotional support due to their specific situation, lack of family support, or their particular lifestyle. A postpartum doula positively affects the entire family, as many postpartum doulas are involved in sibling care, housework chores, and educating clients on childcare information/techniques.

To find a postpartum doula in Houston, TX, most parents recommend creating a job post on Meela and having uniquely qualified postpartum doulas near you (in your budget) reach out to you through the Meela app.

It is completely free to create a job post on Meela and find a postpartum doula. There are no commitments to hire any of the qualified and expert vetted postpartum doulas Meela brings you.

Here’s how it works in 3 easy steps:

To find a postpartum doula, you can also browse the available postpartum doulas near you in Houston, TX and read reviews, compare pricing, experience and fit. Send the postpartum doulas you are interested in a message, introducing yourself and setting up an interview. We recommend reaching out to and interviewing at least three postpartum doulas before hiring a postpartum doula near you. After interviewing, hire the most qualified postpartum doula near you and start getting the care you deserve.

While the cost of a postpartum doula can vary based on experience and the services offered, the average cost of a postpartum doula in Houston, TX is $33 per hour, but typically ranges from $27 to $38 per hour. These costs are based on a representative group of 75 postpartum doulas surveyed by Meela in the Houston area. The average cost of a postpartum doula in Houston, TX is about the same as the average cost of a postpartum doula in the state of Texas, which is $33 per hour.

To put this in further context, the cost of a postpartum doula in Houston, TX is lower than the U.S. national average cost of a postpartum doula, which is $37 per hour.

When hiring a postpartum doula in Houston, TX, you and your doula will discuss and agree upon a fee structure, and your postpartum doula will send you itemized invoices through Meela, which you can pay securely through the app.

A postpartum doula in Houston, TX is meant to help the entire family and their role is not just limited to the birthing parent and newborn. A doula provides physical and emotional support to parents and siblings, but they also offer information and advice regarding how to feed, bathe, swaddle, and soothe the baby.

They also often help with postpartum depression issues, and are considered child care “consultants” rather than medical professionals. Many postpartum doulas in Houston, TX offer a range of services that can help with parents trying to adjust to a newborn child. These services often include:

  • Sibling care
  • Assist with household chores
  • Parent-baby bonding
  • Physical and emotional recovery
  • Support to parents and extended family

A postpartum doula in Houston, TX can have a lasting positive impact on a family and help them feel more confident about their parenting role and the way that they feed and nurture their baby. They might offer advice regarding feeding, bathing, and parent-baby bonding.

It is important to note that a postpartum doula might offer advice but is not expected to provide medical care of any kind or serve as a replacement to an accredited physician. Postpartum doulas are also not qualified to prescribe medication.

Many new parents want to know about certified postpartum doulas and how exactly they are certified. Since the demand for postpartum doulas has greatly expanded in the last several years, the number of reputable postpartum doula training and certification programs has grown in Houston, TX. Training criteria can differ from program to program, but most follow a similar curriculum which includes core academic curriculum and practical hours and real-life care experience.

One of the most common national postpartum doula training certifications comes from DONA International. A postpartum doula usually receives about 27 hours of practical training before they are a certified postpartum doula.

There are also CAPPA-certified postpartum doulas in Houston, TX, as well. These doulas were certified by the Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association, an international organization that certifies doulas and other childbirth educators/professionals.

As a reminder, because postpartum doulas are not trained to be a medical professional and diagnose and treat medical conditions, a certification is not required for them to practice.

As their names suggest, a birth doula’s main priority is to provide support services before, during and in the moments immediately after childbirth. A postpartum doula’s obligations usually begin after the birth, for several weeks or months. In many cases, your birth doula will also be a trained and certified postpartum doula, which can provide a continuity of care that many parents find extremely valuable.

Many parents want to know whether a postpartum doula or a baby nurse would meet their needs and expectations. A baby nurse might be focused on making sure that a baby sleeps or feeds properly, but that might be the extent of their role. A postpartum doula generally offers more holistic services for their clients.

A postpartum doula in Houston, TX is expected to be more involved with the family as a whole. They might remain involved in sibling care or also provide emotional support to the partner as both parents adjust to becoming new parents. This may even include support for older siblings, light housework, and even meal prep. A postpartum doula provides more physical, emotional, and informational support than a baby nurse.

You can hire two types of doulas in Houston, TX: a birth doula and a postpartum doula. The birth doula is during your pregnancy and through the birth of your child. They provide you with emotional, physical and educational support during your pregnancy, your labor and delivery and for the first few hours after your child is born.

A postpartum doula will support you for the first few weeks after the baby is born. They provide in-home assistance, including teaching you how to take care of your newborn, acting as lactation consultant, and can provide some night nanny services.
