“Elysia was an amazing support person to have before, during and after the birth of my daughter.

This was our first child and I didn’t know what to expect. The birthing sessions were extremely informative and detailed. When I began labor at home, Elysia was always so responsive when I had any questions. She even came over to check on me because I thought it was time to go to the hospital (it wasn’t haha) so I’m glad she was there for me and I didn’t waste my time going to the hospital early.

Having Elysia in the room with me and my husband at the hospital during the birth was invaluable. She knew what to do and what to say to keep me calm and help me through everything. I originally intended on doing a non-medicated birth but that changed when I got to the hospital. Even with the epidural, I had issues with the catheter and back pains. I don’t remember much from the labor but I vividly remember Elysia rubbing my back and putting pressure on my back during contractions to stop the pain. She knew exactly what to do! She took pictures and videos during the birth which I will forever treasure.

After coming home from the hospital, I had trouble breastfeeding and she got me in touch with the most amazing lactation consultant.

From beginning to end, my experience with Elysia was amazing. Even now, a year after my daughter’s birth, I am still in contact with Elysia providing her with donations for the charities she supports. She is all around an amazing person!”

Confusing medical terminology, impersonal interactions, inconsistencies with level of care and so much more are some of the reasons I decided to become a doula. After my unpleasant experience with the birth of my first child , I vowed to help change the way the system treats pregnant women and families (especially in the black community.) I want to help women understand exactly what’s happening with their bodies during labor, delivery & postpartum and allow them to feel fully supported throughout that experience. Some of my services include prenatal stretches, breathing techniques, herbal supplements, meal plans and daily regimens that are 100% customized to fit your specific needs.

Care philosophy

Here at HolisticHealing Doula & Wellness Services we are dedicated to being your person throughout the magical journey of labor & delivery. Client comfortability and respect are top priorities and I ensure that my clients feel confident going into their birthing time. I’m here to remind you of your strength and personalize your experience.

After going through my first pregnancy, I felt this amazing empowerment and connection with my body, my husband and my baby. The experience was intense and overwhelming, but also very very amazing, and I was grateful to have my own doula there to nurture and keep me balanced throughout the process. I felt then that it was my calling to become a doula. The word “doula” is an ancient Greek word meaning ‘woman caregiver’, and in my practice I offer support to women and their partners before, during and after childbirth. My role is to help facilitate safe, positive and empowering birthing experiences by offering the information, emotional support and physical support needed during this time. I'm a mother who has encountered varying childbirth experiences such as cesarean to vbac, hospital to home, and assisted to unassisted birth. I utilize this wisdom along with 10 years as a traditional birth attendant to guide mothers and families in making informed decisions related to preconception, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care. To further assist families, I enhanced my expertise by partnering with various childbirth support organizations and continuing my pursuit of education receiving certifications that include becoming a childbirth educator, lactation counselor, bereavement aide, herbalist and unassisted birth advisor to name a few. These endeavors inspired me to host monthly womens' gatherings, annual community events and also train women who desire to become a doula.

Care philosophy

I believe every family deserves a supportive team of childbirth professionals providing collaborative care that helps them achieve their birth and parenting goals. I encourage mothers to confidently take authority over their birth journey, trust their instincts, and know that having self-knowledge and current evidence based data is what empowers her to shape her childbirth destiny.

Serving pregnant women from around the world in my previous work challenged my thoughts on how pregnancy, labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period should be experienced. These women taught me more than I could ever put in words and ignited my passion for birth work. As my passion grew, I began doing research on birth options in America, I learned very quickly that the maternal and fetal death rate in this country is the worst of any other developed country which lead me to want to be apart of the solution.

Care philosophy

A birthing person should have the education and support to birth in what they consider the best way possible. I have supported Cesareans, birth with Epidurals, fully natural, Hospital, Home and Birth Center. It is their birth I am a tool for their best birth.

In my role as a mother of five, student, teacher, doula, and community youth advocate, I've witnessed the need for healing within our communities. In response, I've embraced my innate qualities of compassion and a commitment to supporting individuals on their birthing and parenthood journeys. Growing up, I would only hear our socialized woes of childbirth. When I learned of my first pregnancy, I was concerned about how I would endure the pain. Now, having experienced my unique path through childbirth and motherhood, I celebrate the diverse ways individuals navigate pregnancy, labor, postpartum, and nursing. As a Doula, I'm dedicated to amplifying the lesser-shared stories, recognizing the individual meaning and purpose inherent in each birth journey. Embracing the sacredness of the fourth "trimester," I am dedicated to supporting postpartum mothers. I believe this period is as crucial as the preceding three trimesters, deserving of attention, care, and understanding. Drawing from my journey, I've cultivated a deep appreciation for the significance of breastfeeding and the many forms of bottle feeding. I'm grateful for the opportunity to nurse my children and have become an advocate for spreading the "good word" regarding the myriad benefits and options of nursing for both mother and baby. In 2022, I completed a 20-hour Loving Support Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Training, as a recommitment to supporting mothers on their breastfeeding journeys. Looking ahead, I am excited to pursue IBCLC certification, further enhancing my ability to empower and assist mothers in their breastfeeding experiences. In essence, my doula practice is founded on the principles of compassion, personalized support, and the celebration of diverse birthing stories. I am driven by a profound belief in the significance of each individual's journey and a commitment to fostering healing within our communities. As I continue to grow and evolve in my various roles, I remain dedicated to providing unwavering support, education, and advocacy to those embarking on the transformative path of childbirth and motherhood.

Care philosophy

I prioritize empathy, empowerment, and holistic support. Every birth journey is unique, deserving personalized care. I empower clients through informed decision-making, advocate for their choices, and offer continuous, holistic presence. Postpartum, my commitment extends to nurturing a smooth transition into parenthood, ensuring each individual feels supported, empowered, and heard.

My first home birth experience was with Alisha, my fourth son, after experiencing birth in a hospital. Alisha was very supportive, knowledgeable as well made me feel safe and comforted. She knew exactly what do during each stage of the birthing process , including after birth. I gave birth to a 13 pound baby! I could not have done it without Alisha., and there were no medical complications. The best home birth experience.

Hello! I'm Cara, a wife and a mother to 4. I started my path to birth services in 2018 when I registered to become a postpartum doula, shortly after I added childbirth educator and birth doula. I have always loved on babies and children (not just my own) and even walked with my best friend, as a 15 year old, through her pregnancy, birth and postpartum. I had no idea at that age that I would someday find out that I could pursue a career in doing just that. I myself was a single mother at 19, and had my youngest 6 years later. Their births are why I am so passionate now about mothers learning and understanding their rights in the most vulnerable time of their lives. I want you to have the birth that you desire, or as close as it can be. Whether that birth is at home or birth center, medicated or unmedicated in a hospital, induction or cesarean.

Care philosophy

"Mothering the mother" is my main philosophy, and is shown in different ways I serve you and your family. I want you to have the birth and postpartum that you as a woman and mother deserves. My personal goal is to empower you through support and education of evidence based practices. I want for you to be confident through out your pregnancy, labor and birth, and postpartum.

My gymnastics and acrobatic experience at Cirque du Soleil demanded my focus around quick recovery in order to perform optimally. Thus, I married my two passions by using my experience and knowledge in recovery and my desire to help postpartum mothers to create The Atlanta Postpartum Doula. With my kinesiology background and my love for natural modalities, I created a philosophy of care centered around the body's physiological design. I honor the traditional systems that women have been using for thousands of years all around the world and rooted my care around these four pillars to ensure a smooth transition after birth: Recovery, nutrition, body work, community. We want women to thrive, not just survive the postpartum period. This is the standard, not just for a select few individuals. Additionally, I use evidence-based information and believe in working alongside parents to develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and resources for a successful journey into parenthood.

Care philosophy

I provide holistic support and work mostly with education, support, and mentorship through in-person and virtual services!

Melissa was just what our family needed as we prepared to embark on what would be the biggest blessing of our life so far. I knew what the books said to do to prepare for a new baby but Melissa helped me weed they that information and do what was just right for us. She helped me organize and know what I had and needed, hence, making a registry an easy process. Once our daughter arrived, she was there to assist with the transition without a hitch. She helped me learn to feed our daughter, bathe our daughter, swaddle her, calm her- you name it. She listened to my worries and helped keep up with the household chores while we were soaking in every moment with our new addition. I honestly don’t know how people do it- everyone needs a Melissa.

I believe serving families is my calling. I've been in the early childhood field/ nannying for over six years. I have a passion for caring for families, I tend to go above and beyond when everyone is watching and when no one is watching. I've always checked in on my mothers but I knew my primary focus was taking of the children because that is what I was hired for. I felt I needed to do more, as caregivers, we are here to support and help our families as much as we can BUT I still felt like I needed to do MORE ! It wasn't until I went into the labor room with my sister during her first child, guiding her through every breath and every push--- that moment I knew I wanted to be by a mothers' side guiding them and helping them through every step of the way of their pregnancy journey to watching their child grow up. That's when I learned what a Doula was and began my journey to becoming one back in 2020. My slogan is " Taking Care of You from Infinity and Beyond". I provide Antepartum, Labor, and Postpartum Support plus child birth education virtual classes and placenta encapsulation

Care philosophy

It is important to me that you feel confident, empowered, and heard through your birth experience. I will be your advocate but I will also empower you to be a advocate for yourself, speaking up for what you want and need during your pregnancy journey. I am here to support you and your family as a WHOLE, however you see support, I will try my best to accommodate your wishes.

As a young child, around 6 years of age, I fell in love with the "Birth Story" on TLC! With that show, I was hooked on everything Birth, Baby, and how I can play a part in it. So as an adult, I shuffled with the idea of becoming an OB/GYN, or labor and delivery nurse, and I soon figured it wasn't for me. Once I discovered Doula and Midwifery I was hooked and the fact that there was a possibility to be Holistic and Natural in the approach to birth. So I decided to become certified as a Holistic Doula with The Matrona in Feb 2020. That was the best decision ever and I'm currently waiting for funds for my midwifery courses.

Care philosophy

The support that I provide, deals heavily with communication, physical comfort, for you and your baby. I believe an can be there for both parents as an empowering conduit with meditation and breathing exercises to keep everyone centered and open for the blessings birth has to offer.

Y’na was heaven sent when I opted to have a doula 35 weeks in to my pregnancy. I was overly stressed in selecting one because I never thought to utilize one. I then called Y’na and instantly her spirit was so calming. When we had our meeting she was warm and inviting. I realized I definitely made a great choice. While in labor she created the best peaceful environment such in turn made my labor and delivery easier. She was also a tremendous help during postpartum recovery. Even til this day she checks on us and how we’re doing. If I could do it all over again, I’d choose Y’na!

My name is Nitra and I am a birth / postpartum doula moving as a vessel for love and compassion for those that I serve here in Atlanta, GA. Born in Washington state, I started my training in Seattle. As a natural emotional laborer, I stumbled on the idea of birth work through fortune and was immediately enticed by an undeniable responsibility bigger than myself. I reflected on my own birthing and pregnancy experience during training and discovered my heart pulling passion to protect underrepresented communities. As a shield of protection, I especially like to focus my work on the wellbeing of birthing folks who experience, post traumatic stress, triggers, obstetric violence, systematic racism, microaggressions, misgendering, and any other uncomfortable truths that show up in a birthing environment. I feel it’s especially important to encourage parents to access information and advocate for themselves when they feel the decision making process is out of their hands.

Care philosophy

Personally my belief is that humans are capable of moving with their intuition, which can guide them to form their own ideas for their body and or birth. I am only someone in support of those ideas/ needs, holding space for them, and will advocate/ educate when asked to do so. My care is rooted in protection and nurture.. I move as

Hi, my name is Stephanie and I am a DONA certified Birth Doula, Postpartum Doula, certified Lactation Educator Counselor, certified CPR Instructor, certified Child Passenger Safety Technician, and certified Happiest Baby Educator. My husband Jeff and I have been married for 23 years and we live north of Atlanta with our son Hunter. When I am not with clients, I enjoy hiking, sewing, going to the gym, and spending time with my family Before becoming a stay-at-home mom, I spent the previous 20 years of my life working in the medical-office field, beginning as a filing clerk and working my way up to billing manager and eventually office manager, which included the management of an OB/GYN practice in the Northside Hospital area. When my husband and I decided to become parents ourselves, we struggled with infertility issues, which resulted in us consulting a reproductive specialist. After weighing all the options, we decided to try In-Vitro Fertilization in order to conceive our son. It was a long and difficult process, but we are forever grateful to the physician and his practice along with the never ending support we received from our family, friends, and coworkers. When a longtime childhood friend asked me to support her during the home birth of her second child as well as photograph the experience, I gladly accepted. A few years later, she asked me to be there again for the birth of her third child. A year later I was asked by another childhood friend, if I would participate in the hospital birth of her daughter and be her doula. All three of these experiences had a profound effect on me. These experiences, in addition to becoming a mother myself, allowed me to discover the passion I would have for becoming a doula. As a doula, I am dedicated to educating, supporting, and assisting families so that they have the best possible experience bringing their little ones into the world. No matter whether this is your first child or your sixth child, I am here to help make this a special time.

Care philosophy

I am dedicated to educating, supporting, and assisting families so that they have the best possible experience bringing their little ones into the world, no matter if they are becoming a parent for the first time or the fifth. Knowing that every couple’s needs are different, I tailor the support that I provide to each client’s individual needs and desires.

We hired Stephanie originally as our birth doula, but then hired her for CPR training and certification as well as a postpartum doula. She was a fabulous help in all areas from preparing us for labor, coaching me during labor, helping with breastfeeding questions, helping with the twins for several months after the birth. She is the epitome of professional, incredibly disciplined, and an expert in her field. She is also very comfortable to be around, which is so very needed during labor and postpartum when one is so vulnerable both physically and emotionally. I felt so supported by her and would hire her again in a heartbeat.

She is simply amazing. With Rachel’s phenomenal support I was able to achieve my goal of a natural labor at the hospital. She preformed many different techniques to help me be as comfortable as I could be going through the contractions. Rachel gave me the encouragement I needed and wasn’t afraid to speak up to hospital staff to make sure my birth plan could go accordingly as possible. Not only is she an amazing support for birth but she truly saved my breastfeeding journey. She was very attentive night and day in helping me with any questions or concerns and would even check on us herself which was so nice. Rachel is very passionate and knowledgeable about her work as a doula. I highly recommend her and will most definitely have her be my doula again if I were to have another baby.

Hi and welcome! My name is Kathryn and I am a certified labor doula, supporting families in Marietta and the Atlanta area. I have a B.S in community health and human services. I received my Certified Labor Doula certification from CAPPA in December 2017. I recently completed my recertification in December of 2020. My personal pregnancy journeys has been the catalyst for this business. I have 3 children, one boy and a girl, and an angel daughter above. When I began exploring the moments in my life that were an exclamation mark, the moments that literally almost took my breath away to the moments that made me drop in pain, they all centered around the journey to build my family. It wasn’t until my early 30s, when my husband and I were beginning our family building journey, that I realized what a delicate, amazing experience it is, just to be pregnant, to carry life, and to give birth. After suffering for 5 years with infertility, I became pregnant with my son via IVF. He was born via cesarean and I am convinced that is the way he was meant to be born. With that birth, I have a permanent scar that I look at daily with gratitude. It reminds me of the perseverance, strength and patience it took for him to arrive. But, with that same strength and determination I received from that experience, I was led to feel that spark to try for a VBAC when I shockingly became pregnant two years later. Gasp. The conception of my daughter was a wonderful gift and the way she came into the world was basically just that. Her birth was a fierce, fast, and empowering experience, mirroring her personality. My unmedicated VBAC has stuck in my mind as one of the greatest experiences of my life and initially lit my determination to become a birth worker. Her birth made me realize a new found love I had for my body, for growing her, and birthing her. I became pregnant again in 2016, with my daughter Charlotte. Sadly, I suffered a 16 week loss when she passed away. As with anyone who has suffered pregnancy and infant loss, you know that special kind of pain. It is without a doubt the darkest experience I have had in my life. With this loss, I gained an inner strength and renewed spirituality. She is a part of my spirit and my story. There is not a single day that goes by that I don’t think of her. I look at each of these so very different experiences , these 3 hearts, with such awe. Undoubtedly, they have left a profound mark on my heart and have taught me my biggest life lessons. They are extensions of my soul that I carry daily with me. I share these experiences because they are me, they are my inspiration for this business, and my daily reminder of the inner strength women possess. Pregnancy and birth is an experience like no other. Make sure you have the support you need to make this experience positive and empowering: Empowerment= less trauma.

Care philosophy

The way you birth matters. Why? Because it's a vulnerable experience. My job as a doula is to make sure my clients have tools they need to be involved in the decision making process when it comes to this experience. What does that look like? Pulling the most up to date evidence on inductions, offering different comfort measures, optimal baby positioning, and informed consent.

My role as a doula started long before I became certified. I have supported friends and family through pregnancies and births for as long as I can remember. It's a calling that I'm glad I stopped running from. As a medical student, I saw so many mothers who had no support and it was a no brainer; I want to be able to support those who have none and so the journey began. I became a doula in the midst of completing medical school. I wouldn't trade birth work for anything!

Care philosophy

A doula provides physical and emotional support to parents and siblings, but they also offer information and advice regarding how to feed, bathe, swaddle, and soothe the baby.

They also often help with postpartum depression issues, and are considered child care “consultants” rather than medical professionals. Many postpartum doulas in Johns Creek, GA offer a range of services that can help with parents trying to adjust to a newborn child. These services often include:

  • Sibling care
  • Assist with household chores
  • Parent-baby bonding
  • Physical and emotional recovery
  • Support to parents and extended family

A postpartum doula in Johns Creek, GA can have a lasting positive impact on a family and help them feel more confident about their parenting role and the way that they feed and nurture their baby. They might offer advice regarding feeding, bathing, and parent-baby bonding.

It is important to note that a postpartum doula might offer advice but is not expected to provide medical care of any kind or serve as a replacement to an accredited physician. Postpartum doulas are also not qualified to prescribe medication.

Many new parents want to know about certified postpartum doulas and how exactly they are certified. Since the demand for postpartum doulas has greatly expanded in the last several years, the number of reputable postpartum doula training and certification programs has grown in Johns Creek, GA. Training criteria can differ from program to program, but most follow a similar curriculum which includes core academic curriculum and practical hours and real-life care experience.

One of the most common national postpartum doula training certifications comes from DONA International. A postpartum doula usually receives about 27 hours of practical training before they are a certified postpartum doula.

There are also CAPPA-certified postpartum doulas in Johns Creek, GA, as well. These doulas were certified by the Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association, an international organization that certifies doulas and other childbirth educators/professionals.

As a reminder, because postpartum doulas are not trained to be a medical professional and diagnose and treat medical conditions, a certification is not required for them to practice.

As their names suggest, a birth doula’s main priority is to provide support services before, during and in the moments immediately after childbirth. A postpartum doula’s obligations usually begin after the birth, for several weeks or months. In many cases, your birth doula will also be a trained and certified postpartum doula, which can provide a continuity of care that many parents find extremely valuable.

Many parents want to know whether a postpartum doula or a baby nurse would meet their needs and expectations. A baby nurse might be focused on making sure that a baby sleeps or feeds properly, but that might be the extent of their role. A postpartum doula generally offers more holistic services for their clients.

A postpartum doula in Johns Creek, GA is expected to be more involved with the family as a whole. They might remain involved in sibling care or also provide emotional support to the partner as both parents adjust to becoming new parents. This may even include support for older siblings, light housework, and even meal prep. A postpartum doula provides more physical, emotional, and informational support than a baby nurse.

You can hire two types of doulas in Johns Creek, GA: a birth doula and a postpartum doula. The birth doula is during your pregnancy and through the birth of your child. They provide you with emotional, physical and educational support during your pregnancy, your labor and delivery and for the first few hours after your child is born.

A postpartum doula will support you for the first few weeks after the baby is born. They provide in-home assistance, including teaching you how to take care of your newborn, acting as lactation consultant, and can provide some night nanny services.
