I believe serving families is my calling. I've been in the early childhood field/ nannying for over six years. I have a passion for caring for families, I tend to go above and beyond when everyone is watching and when no one is watching. I've always checked in on my mothers but I knew my primary focus was taking of the children because that is what I was hired for. I felt I needed to do more, as caregivers, we are here to support and help our families as much as we can BUT I still felt like I needed to do MORE ! It wasn't until I went into the labor room with my sister during her first child, guiding her through every breath and every push--- that moment I knew I wanted to be by a mothers' side guiding them and helping them through every step of the way of their pregnancy journey to watching their child grow up. That's when I learned what a Doula was and began my journey to becoming one back in 2020. My slogan is " Taking Care of You from Infinity and Beyond". I provide Antepartum, Labor, and Postpartum Support plus child birth education virtual classes and placenta encapsulation

Care philosophy

It is important to me that you feel confident, empowered, and heard through your birth experience. I will be your advocate but I will also empower you to be a advocate for yourself, speaking up for what you want and need during your pregnancy journey. I am here to support you and your family as a WHOLE, however you see support, I will try my best to accommodate your wishes.

Hello momma's in the Northern Georgia area! My name is Liliana aka Lily. I am a DONA trained birth and breastfeeding doula. Currently working on my full certification with DONA. I am a mother to 3 beautiful boys whom I have laboured all completely different. My first baby was born via cesarean birth, 2nd was my hospital epidural VBAC birth and 3rd was my homebirth baby. Gave birth in 3 different scenarios and loved all 3 of them. I've always been obsessed with birthing and pregnancy! Once I had my children I KNEW I wanted to be there to support someone along THEIR birthing journey. I want to be there for YOU and YOUR birthing wishes and how YOU Invision it to be.

Care philosophy

I believe that birth is a god given ability. God made us to labor and labor in our own special way. As a doula I will there for you when you need me to help you in every step of the way from the beginning to the end and beyond

As a young child, around 6 years of age, I fell in love with the "Birth Story" on TLC! With that show, I was hooked on everything Birth, Baby, and how I can play a part in it. So as an adult, I shuffled with the idea of becoming an OB/GYN, or labor and delivery nurse, and I soon figured it wasn't for me. Once I discovered Doula and Midwifery I was hooked and the fact that there was a possibility to be Holistic and Natural in the approach to birth. So I decided to become certified as a Holistic Doula with The Matrona in Feb 2020. That was the best decision ever and I'm currently waiting for funds for my midwifery courses.

Care philosophy

The support that I provide, deals heavily with communication, physical comfort, for you and your baby. I believe an can be there for both parents as an empowering conduit with meditation and breathing exercises to keep everyone centered and open for the blessings birth has to offer.

By nature, I am a helper and a nurturer, an empathic, supportive, and caring person. My “superpower” is the ability to anticipate the needs of others. Building relationships with clients prenatally matters to me. I always want to provide care which supports each woman’s comfort, dignity, and privacy. Additionally, respect for the cultural needs and holding space for her spiritual needs is an important part of my practice. This combination; my nature, my training, experience, and skills has honed me into the doula and birth worker I am today. I have been married to my husband for 24 years and am a mother to four grown children and five grandchildren. It was my daughter who introduced me to the role of a doula about ten years ago. Her whole life she heard me enthusiastically tell my birth stories. While I am grateful for my careers in fitness, as a church musician, and painter, I often wondered aloud the what-if with my desire to become a midwife or labor and delivery nurse. My previous careers enhance much of what I do today. Understanding of the body, strengthening and stretching, breathing and relaxation, being a coach and encourager continue with pregnancy and birth. Being attuned to my faith, then and now, as well as working in concert with others is an asset in most areas of life! I am so grateful for Sara's leading me to this most rewarding season of my work life, welcoming babies into this world and women into motherhood. Pregnancy, birth and postpartum are all powerful seasons in the life of a woman and her family. I help women and their partners prepare for the journey ahead, helping them ready their body, mind, and soul for welcoming their baby into the world. By giving them the tools they need, through education, resources, and support, the fear and anxiety that is so common today is greatly reduced. This allows for a more positive and powerful birth experience. I also believe that childbirth should be a natural event that occasionally needs medical help, not a medical event that occasionally happens naturally. The needs and desires of the woman, emotionally and physically, are of utmost importance and I am there to serve her without bias. Wherever she chooses to give birth, I will help to create a space that is tranquil, where she feels safe, secure, and loved. The creation of this space allows her to be in tune with her body and her baby and facilitate a physiological birth. This type of birth is more likely to be safe and healthy and free of unnecessary interventions which disrupt a natural, normal physiological labor and birth. There are short-term and long-term benefits of normal physiological birth, both to the mother and her baby, and also to the family and society. This also helps to change our current attitudes toward childbirth from an atmosphere of fear and an illness to one of hope and wellness. Occasionally, some women and/or their babies may have complications which call for medical attention to assure a safe and healthy outcome. If medical help is wanted or needed, I am there to champion her/them with continuous and unwavering support! This kind of support, even when complications arise can enhance the outcomes for both the mother and her baby. Over the past six years as a doula, I have had the opportunity to support families at over a dozen hospitals in Metro Atlanta, as well as Gainesville, both Athens hospitals, and Braselton. Many beautiful births at the Atlanta Birth Center, and I even traveled to The Farm in Tennessee to live for a month for my daughter's first home birth. Each year I would have a few home birth clients which were always special and it sparked an interest in continuing my training and the possibility of becoming a birth assistant. With the dramatic rise in the need and desire for home birth during 2020, I was presented with an incredible opportunity to broaden my skills and support an amazing home birth midwife as her birth assistant. My practice and the experiences continue to grow with each family that I am blessed to serve! I continue to practice as a birth doula in hospital and birth center settings as well as for those giving birth at home.

Care philosophy

I believe that giving birth is a powerful, life-altering experience. Creating a positive birth experience strengthens and empowers not only the mother but the bond between her, her baby, and her husband. Helping women and their families navigate this sacred rite of passage builds healthy relationships that are far-reaching.

Y’na was heaven sent when I opted to have a doula 35 weeks in to my pregnancy. I was overly stressed in selecting one because I never thought to utilize one. I then called Y’na and instantly her spirit was so calming. When we had our meeting she was warm and inviting. I realized I definitely made a great choice. While in labor she created the best peaceful environment such in turn made my labor and delivery easier. She was also a tremendous help during postpartum recovery. Even til this day she checks on us and how we’re doing. If I could do it all over again, I’d choose Y’na!

My name is Nitra and I am a birth / postpartum doula moving as a vessel for love and compassion for those that I serve here in Atlanta, GA. Born in Washington state, I started my training in Seattle. As a natural emotional laborer, I stumbled on the idea of birth work through fortune and was immediately enticed by an undeniable responsibility bigger than myself. I reflected on my own birthing and pregnancy experience during training and discovered my heart pulling passion to protect underrepresented communities. As a shield of protection, I especially like to focus my work on the wellbeing of birthing folks who experience, post traumatic stress, triggers, obstetric violence, systematic racism, microaggressions, misgendering, and any other uncomfortable truths that show up in a birthing environment. I feel it’s especially important to encourage parents to access information and advocate for themselves when they feel the decision making process is out of their hands.

Care philosophy

Personally my belief is that humans are capable of moving with their intuition, which can guide them to form their own ideas for their body and or birth. I am only someone in support of those ideas/ needs, holding space for them, and will advocate/ educate when asked to do so. My care is rooted in protection and nurture.. I move as

“Elysia was an amazing support person to have before, during and after the birth of my daughter.

This was our first child and I didn’t know what to expect. The birthing sessions were extremely informative and detailed. When I began labor at home, Elysia was always so responsive when I had any questions. She even came over to check on me because I thought it was time to go to the hospital (it wasn’t haha) so I’m glad she was there for me and I didn’t waste my time going to the hospital early.

Having Elysia in the room with me and my husband at the hospital during the birth was invaluable. She knew what to do and what to say to keep me calm and help me through everything. I originally intended on doing a non-medicated birth but that changed when I got to the hospital. Even with the epidural, I had issues with the catheter and back pains. I don’t remember much from the labor but I vividly remember Elysia rubbing my back and putting pressure on my back during contractions to stop the pain. She knew exactly what to do! She took pictures and videos during the birth which I will forever treasure.

After coming home from the hospital, I had trouble breastfeeding and she got me in touch with the most amazing lactation consultant.

From beginning to end, my experience with Elysia was amazing. Even now, a year after my daughter’s birth, I am still in contact with Elysia providing her with donations for the charities she supports. She is all around an amazing person!”

Hi, my name is Stephanie and I am a DONA certified Birth Doula, Postpartum Doula, certified Lactation Educator Counselor, certified CPR Instructor, certified Child Passenger Safety Technician, and certified Happiest Baby Educator. My husband Jeff and I have been married for 23 years and we live north of Atlanta with our son Hunter. When I am not with clients, I enjoy hiking, sewing, going to the gym, and spending time with my family Before becoming a stay-at-home mom, I spent the previous 20 years of my life working in the medical-office field, beginning as a filing clerk and working my way up to billing manager and eventually office manager, which included the management of an OB/GYN practice in the Northside Hospital area. When my husband and I decided to become parents ourselves, we struggled with infertility issues, which resulted in us consulting a reproductive specialist. After weighing all the options, we decided to try In-Vitro Fertilization in order to conceive our son. It was a long and difficult process, but we are forever grateful to the physician and his practice along with the never ending support we received from our family, friends, and coworkers. When a longtime childhood friend asked me to support her during the home birth of her second child as well as photograph the experience, I gladly accepted. A few years later, she asked me to be there again for the birth of her third child. A year later I was asked by another childhood friend, if I would participate in the hospital birth of her daughter and be her doula. All three of these experiences had a profound effect on me. These experiences, in addition to becoming a mother myself, allowed me to discover the passion I would have for becoming a doula. As a doula, I am dedicated to educating, supporting, and assisting families so that they have the best possible experience bringing their little ones into the world. No matter whether this is your first child or your sixth child, I am here to help make this a special time.

Care philosophy

I am dedicated to educating, supporting, and assisting families so that they have the best possible experience bringing their little ones into the world, no matter if they are becoming a parent for the first time or the fifth. Knowing that every couple’s needs are different, I tailor the support that I provide to each client’s individual needs and desires.

We hired Stephanie originally as our birth doula, but then hired her for CPR training and certification as well as a postpartum doula. She was a fabulous help in all areas from preparing us for labor, coaching me during labor, helping with breastfeeding questions, helping with the twins for several months after the birth. She is the epitome of professional, incredibly disciplined, and an expert in her field. She is also very comfortable to be around, which is so very needed during labor and postpartum when one is so vulnerable both physically and emotionally. I felt so supported by her and would hire her again in a heartbeat.

I'm a mother who has encountered varying childbirth experiences such as cesarean to vbac, hospital to home, and assisted to unassisted birth. I utilize this wisdom along with 10 years as a traditional birth attendant to guide mothers and families in making informed decisions related to preconception, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care. To further assist families, I enhanced my expertise by partnering with various childbirth support organizations and continuing my pursuit of education receiving certifications that include becoming a childbirth educator, lactation counselor, bereavement aide, herbalist and unassisted birth advisor to name a few. These endeavors inspired me to host monthly womens' gatherings, annual community events and also train women who desire to become a doula.

Care philosophy

I believe every family deserves a supportive team of childbirth professionals providing collaborative care that helps them achieve their birth and parenting goals. I encourage mothers to confidently take authority over their birth journey, trust their instincts, and know that having self-knowledge and current evidence based data is what empowers her to shape her childbirth destiny.

Hi, my name is Rachel Howell and I have a passion for providing support to new and expecting moms and their families. My passion began with the pregnancy and birth of my second child in 2016; I spent the pregnancy preparing for a home birth, which ended up being the most incredible experience. That experience changed my view on birth and what it can be. I became a doula in 2019 after providing support to a family member inspired by my own birth experience. After leaving that birth in late 2018, I immediately began researching how to become a doula. I completed my training and certification in 2019 and started my business. I aim to provide the kind of support that my prospective clients want and need free of judgement and bias. In May of 2020, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and began to center my life around worship and praise of Jesus. It is because of His love and blessings for me that I am able to maintain my business and provide support to families. I incorporate my faith into my support through constant prayer for my clients with the option of prayer with and for you during our times together. While I feel a strong call to minister to others, I do not force my faith upon others, but rather live in love for everyone with respect for their views and wishes. I provide both birth and postpartum support and will soon be adding childbirth education to my list of services.

Care philosophy

She is simply amazing. With Rachel’s phenomenal support I was able to achieve my goal of a natural labor at the hospital. She preformed many different techniques to help me be as comfortable as I could be going through the contractions. Rachel gave me the encouragement I needed and wasn’t afraid to speak up to hospital staff to make sure my birth plan could go accordingly as possible. Not only is she an amazing support for birth but she truly saved my breastfeeding journey. She was very attentive night and day in helping me with any questions or concerns and would even check on us herself which was so nice. Rachel is very passionate and knowledgeable about her work as a doula. I highly recommend her and will most definitely have her be my doula again if I were to have another baby.

Hi and welcome! My name is Kathryn and I am a certified labor doula, supporting families in Marietta and the Atlanta area. I have a B.S in community health and human services. I received my Certified Labor Doula certification from CAPPA in December 2017. I recently completed my recertification in December of 2020. My personal pregnancy journeys has been the catalyst for this business. I have 3 children, one boy and a girl, and an angel daughter above. When I began exploring the moments in my life that were an exclamation mark, the moments that literally almost took my breath away to the moments that made me drop in pain, they all centered around the journey to build my family. It wasn’t until my early 30s, when my husband and I were beginning our family building journey, that I realized what a delicate, amazing experience it is, just to be pregnant, to carry life, and to give birth. After suffering for 5 years with infertility, I became pregnant with my son via IVF. He was born via cesarean and I am convinced that is the way he was meant to be born. With that birth, I have a permanent scar that I look at daily with gratitude. It reminds me of the perseverance, strength and patience it took for him to arrive. But, with that same strength and determination I received from that experience, I was led to feel that spark to try for a VBAC when I shockingly became pregnant two years later. Gasp. The conception of my daughter was a wonderful gift and the way she came into the world was basically just that. Her birth was a fierce, fast, and empowering experience, mirroring her personality. My unmedicated VBAC has stuck in my mind as one of the greatest experiences of my life and initially lit my determination to become a birth worker. Her birth made me realize a new found love I had for my body, for growing her, and birthing her. I became pregnant again in 2016, with my daughter Charlotte. Sadly, I suffered a 16 week loss when she passed away. As with anyone who has suffered pregnancy and infant loss, you know that special kind of pain. It is without a doubt the darkest experience I have had in my life. With this loss, I gained an inner strength and renewed spirituality. She is a part of my spirit and my story. There is not a single day that goes by that I don’t think of her. I look at each of these so very different experiences , these 3 hearts, with such awe. Undoubtedly, they have left a profound mark on my heart and have taught me my biggest life lessons. They are extensions of my soul that I carry daily with me. I share these experiences because they are me, they are my inspiration for this business, and my daily reminder of the inner strength women possess. Pregnancy and birth is an experience like no other. Make sure you have the support you need to make this experience positive and empowering: Empowerment= less trauma.

Care philosophy

The way you birth matters. Why? Because it's a vulnerable experience. My job as a doula is to make sure my clients have tools they need to be involved in the decision making process when it comes to this experience. What does that look like? Pulling the most up to date evidence on inductions, offering different comfort measures, optimal baby positioning, and informed consent.

My role as a doula started long before I became certified. I have supported friends and family through pregnancies and births for as long as I can remember. It's a calling that I'm glad I stopped running from. As a medical student, I saw so many mothers who had no support and it was a no brainer; I want to be able to support those who have none and so the journey began. I became a doula in the midst of completing medical school. I wouldn't trade birth work for anything!

Care philosophy

I support you through the happy, sad and overwhelming times that you might experience. My mission is to provide family focused, culturally competent care to all I encounter. Aeryka is very knowledgeable, patient and was far more supportive than I could have prayed for her to be. She listened to me and knew what I needed before I could even open my mouth to say it and sometimes even when I didn’t know I needed it. I was intimidated by her prices but she offers a payment plan and that made me feel much better. She’s so worth the investment. She helped me make the best decisions during my birth and explained the medical jargon in a way that I could understand. If you want a doula who will gently get you together and love on you even when you’re being stubborn, hire her! You won’t be sorry! This was my first baby and while I’m not planning to have another baby any time soon, I’ll definitely be hiring her again as my doula whenever I do.

I’ve worked with Claudia specifically related to pre-natal and hormonal support. I suffer from PCOS, so I reached out to Claudia to learn how I can start to get my hormones to the right levels in order for me to not experience the symptoms that come with PCOS (facial hair growth, weight gain, depression, etc.). With her support and knowledge, I learned more about the condition; she also prepared a tea blend to help me regulate my hormones and prepare for pregnancy. Claudia’s professionalism and dedication is unmatched. She listened to my concerns, provided me with names of reading material and made sure to let me know that if she didn’t have the answer for something, she’ll look for it. Overall, I would recommend Claudia to anyone looking for prenatal, pregnancy and postnatal support.

I am a wife and mother to four beautiful children. For years, birth has been my passion. When I finally attended my first birth as a doula, it was solidified that this is my calling. I saw how important it was for someone, trained in birth, to never leave the birthing person's side. Since attending that birth, I have devoted my career to helping people during this milestone. I focus my attention on educating my clients of their options, how to advocate for themselves, how to ask the correct questions, and how to trust their body during this transformative time. I offer various packages to meet you where you are, so every person can have doula support.

Care philosophy

I believe that education is the key to having a powerful and positive birth experience. No matter what might happen during your pregnancy, labor, and beyond, if you are well educated and supported, then you will feel empowered and in control. Women/ birthing people are so strong and capable, and need to be supported, so they can gracefully embrace their birth no matter what that looks like.

“During my pregnancy, Hannah displayed a high sense of professionalism. She was incredibly educated and was able to help me find information to make informed decisions about my care. Hannah also was able to encourage my husband during my pregnancy and ultimately provided support for him during labor and delivery so he could be solely focused on me.
Hannah is very knowledgeable and friendly. I would recommend her services to anyone.”

Hello, I'm Amber Barnes! I live in Woodstock , Georgia with my husband and my sweet son. I am currently finishing up my Birth Doula certification through DONA International. I found my passion to become a Birth Doula during my pregnancy and birth of my son. I, like many pregnant women, had a "dream birth" vision but had a hard time knowing how to achieve this dream and an even harder time finding a doctor who was willing to provide this information. At 20 weeks pregnant I was labeled "high risk" and was told my birth would not be going as I had planned and what little information I had on how to have my dream birth became obsolete. I was devastated, however, determined to find a way to have the birth I had planned. I hired a doula and found a provider that was willing to help me have the birth I had envisioned. While I did have a few complications along the way my provider, doula, and family empowered me and supported me through the whole process. After the birth of my son, I felt a burning desire to help educate, support and empower pregnant women. I have since set out to become a certified birth doula. My passion is to provide women with support, knowledge, and empowerment to have the birth experience they desire.

As a certified Doula, I feel honored to be able to share my expertise with women and families. I approach birth holistically and I believe that birthing is a natural process, and that women are strong and capable of having a natural birth or any birth preference that they decide to choose. By supporting mom throughout her pregnancy, and making sure that her, and her partner have all of their options, it will help the big day goes as smooth as possible. They will have a chance to have the birth story of their dreams and be prepared just incase an emergency should arise! As unfortunately these things sometimes do. I also support mom emotionally and physically during labor, making sure that she is as comfortable and calm as possible. I’m here to support partners too! I will always have the best interest of my clients at heart and advocate for the birthing woman and her family!

Care philosophy

“At The Joosy doula I provide dependable, caring, and customizable support for families before, during, and after birth. I promise to respect, listen, love, embrace, and be your advocate. I will support you no matter what kind of birth you choose! You will come in as client, but leave as a family.” -Sherease, The Joosy Doula

Serving pregnant women from around the world in my previous work challenged my thoughts on how pregnancy, labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period should be experienced. These women taught me more than I could ever put in words and ignited my passion for birth work. As my passion grew, I began doing research on birth options in America, I learned very quickly that the maternal and fetal death rate in this country is the worst of any other developed country which lead me to want to be apart of the solution.

Care philosophy

A birthing person should have the education and support to birth in what they consider the best way possible. I have supported Cesareans, birth with Epidurals, fully natural, Hospital, Home and Birth Center. It is their birth I am a tool for their best birth.

A postpartum doula in Johns Creek, GA is meant to help the entire family and their role is not just limited to the birthing parent and newborn. A doula provides physical and emotional support to parents and siblings, but they also offer information and advice regarding how to feed, bathe, swaddle, and soothe the baby.

They also often help with postpartum depression issues, and are considered child care “consultants” rather than medical professionals. Many postpartum doulas in Johns Creek, GA offer a range of services that can help with parents trying to adjust to a newborn child. These services often include:

  • Sibling care
  • Assist with household chores
  • Parent-baby bonding
  • Physical and emotional recovery
  • Support to parents and extended family

A postpartum doula in Johns Creek, GA can have a lasting positive impact on a family and help them feel more confident about their parenting role and the way that they feed and nurture their baby. They might offer advice regarding feeding, bathing, and parent-baby bonding.

It is important to note that a postpartum doula might offer advice but is not expected to provide medical care of any kind or serve as a replacement to an accredited physician. Postpartum doulas are also not qualified to prescribe medication.

Many new parents want to know about certified postpartum doulas and how exactly they are certified. Since the demand for postpartum doulas has greatly expanded in the last several years, the number of reputable postpartum doula training and certification programs has grown in Johns Creek, GA. Training criteria can differ from program to program, but most follow a similar curriculum which includes core academic curriculum and practical hours and real-life care experience.

One of the most common national postpartum doula training certifications comes from DONA International. A postpartum doula usually receives about 27 hours of practical training before they are a certified postpartum doula.

There are also CAPPA-certified postpartum doulas in Johns Creek, GA, as well. These doulas were certified by the Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association, an international organization that certifies doulas and other childbirth educators/professionals.

As a reminder, because postpartum doulas are not trained to be a medical professional and diagnose and treat medical conditions, a certification is not required for them to practice.

As their names suggest, a birth doula’s main priority is to provide support services before, during and in the moments immediately after childbirth. A postpartum doula’s obligations usually begin after the birth, for several weeks or months. In many cases, your birth doula will also be a trained and certified postpartum doula, which can provide a continuity of care that many parents find extremely valuable.

Many parents want to know whether a postpartum doula or a baby nurse would meet their needs and expectations. A baby nurse might be focused on making sure that a baby sleeps or feeds properly, but that might be the extent of their role. A postpartum doula generally offers more holistic services for their clients.

A postpartum doula in Johns Creek, GA is expected to be more involved with the family as a whole. They might remain involved in sibling care or also provide emotional support to the partner as both parents adjust to becoming new parents. This may even include support for older siblings, light housework, and even meal prep. A postpartum doula provides more physical, emotional, and informational support than a baby nurse.

You can hire two types of doulas in Johns Creek, GA: a birth doula and a postpartum doula. The birth doula is during your pregnancy and through the birth of your child. They provide you with emotional, physical and educational support during your pregnancy, your labor and delivery and for the first few hours after your child is born.

A postpartum doula will support you for the first few weeks after the baby is born. They provide in-home assistance, including teaching you how to take care of your newborn, acting as lactation consultant, and can provide some night nanny services.
