Practice overview
Hi and welcome! My name is Kathryn and I am a certified labor doula, supporting families in Marietta and the Atlanta area. I have a B.S in community health and human services. I received my Certified Labor Doula certification from CAPPA in December 2017. I recently completed my recertification in December of 2020. My personal pregnancy journeys has been the catalyst for this business. I have 3 children, one boy and a girl, and an angel daughter above. When I began exploring the moments in my life that were an exclamation mark, the moments that literally almost took my breath away to the moments that made me drop in pain, they all centered around the journey to build my family. It wasn’t until my early 30s, when my husband and I were beginning our family building journey, that I realized what a delicate, amazing experience it is, just to be pregnant, to carry life, and to give birth. After suffering for 5 years with infertility, I became pregnant with my son via IVF. He was born via cesarean and I am convinced that is the way he was meant to be born. With that birth, I have a permanent scar that I look at daily with gratitude. It reminds me of the perseverance, strength and patience it took for him to arrive. But, with that same strength and determination I received from that experience, I was led to feel that spark to try for a VBAC when I shockingly became pregnant two years later. Gasp. The conception of my daughter was a wonderful gift and the way she came into the world was basically just that. Her birth was a fierce, fast, and empowering experience, mirroring her personality. My unmedicated VBAC has stuck in my mind as one of the greatest experiences of my life and initially lit my determination to become a birth worker. Her birth made me realize a new found love I had for my body, for growing her, and birthing her. I became pregnant again in 2016, with my daughter Charlotte. Sadly, I suffered a 16 week loss when she passed away. As with anyone who has suffered pregnancy and infant loss, you know that special kind of pain. It is without a doubt the darkest experience I have had in my life. With this loss, I gained an inner strength and renewed spirituality. She is a part of my spirit and my story. There is not a single day that goes by that I don’t think of her. I look at each of these so very different experiences , these 3 hearts, with such awe. Undoubtedly, they have left a profound mark on my heart and have taught me my biggest life lessons. They are extensions of my soul that I carry daily with me. I share these experiences because they are me, they are my inspiration for this business, and my daily reminder of the inner strength women possess.
Pregnancy and birth is an experience like no other. Make sure you have the support you need to make this experience
positive and empowering: Empowerment= less trauma.

January 8, 2021 at 7:18 am | Client reviewKathryn was my doula through two unmedicated births. She checked in with me throughout my pregnancy. She sincerely listened to my first-time mom rants and worries and anxiousness and found words to calm me every time. I honestly could not have done this without her. She kept us informed, comfortable, and happy through the entire labor and delivery. Her thoughtfulness, preparedness and knowledge made us feel like pros by the time I went into labor for the second time and she was there every step of the way. My husband said having her there gave him more confidence in his role during both births. If we ever go for our third, Kathryn will be my first phone call.
