Practice overview
In my role as a mother of five, student, teacher, doula, and community youth advocate, I've witnessed the need for healing within our communities. In response, I've embraced my innate qualities of compassion and a commitment to supporting individuals on their birthing and parenthood journeys.
Growing up, I would only hear our socialized woes of childbirth. When I learned of my first pregnancy, I was concerned about how I would endure the pain. Now, having experienced my unique path through childbirth and motherhood, I celebrate the diverse ways individuals navigate pregnancy, labor, postpartum, and nursing. As a Doula, I'm dedicated to amplifying the lesser-shared stories, recognizing the individual meaning and purpose inherent in each birth journey.
Embracing the sacredness of the fourth "trimester," I am dedicated to supporting postpartum mothers. I believe this period is as crucial as the preceding three trimesters, deserving of attention, care, and understanding. Drawing from my journey, I've cultivated a deep appreciation for the significance of breastfeeding and the many forms of bottle feeding. I'm grateful for the opportunity to nurse my children and have become an advocate for spreading the "good word" regarding the myriad benefits and options of nursing for both mother and baby.
In 2022, I completed a 20-hour Loving Support Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Training, as a recommitment to supporting mothers on their breastfeeding journeys. Looking ahead, I am excited to pursue IBCLC certification, further enhancing my ability to empower and assist mothers in their breastfeeding experiences.
In essence, my doula practice is founded on the principles of compassion, personalized support, and the celebration of diverse birthing stories. I am driven by a profound belief in the significance of each individual's journey and a commitment to fostering healing within our communities. As I continue to grow and evolve in my various roles, I remain dedicated to providing unwavering support, education, and advocacy to those embarking on the transformative path of childbirth and motherhood.

I have had the honor of working alongside Alisha during many births and she was a tremendous support and resource for me during my own pregnancy. Her knowledge of pregnancy, peri-natal nutrition, breastfeeding, birth, postpartum well-being, parenting, and holistic healing modalities is extraordinary stemming from years of experience working in the community as a doula, midwife, and perinatal educator in the hospital and homebirth setting and her own experience of being a mother. She brings her compassion, expertise, and a trauma-informed lens to every mother and family she works with to help them feel at ease, supported, and confident in their birth and parenting journey. I highly recommend Alisha’s services for any parent whether you are a first-time mother, a single parent, welcoming a new addition to your large family, or desiring an empowering healing birth experience after a trauma. You will feel heard seen and empowered.

January 3, 2024 at 11:41 am | Client reviewIn December of 2002 my husband and I decided we wanted to have our second child on the Island of Jamaica. We hired Alisha Brown to be our midwife as well as our doula. My daughter was due in January. On January 6,2003 I went into labor and Alisha right away went to work. I didn’t even have to tell her what I was needing, she knew what to do for me. Alisha is very intuitive, attentive and especially patient. My labor and delivery went smoothly due to Alisha’s professionalism. She always addressed my questions and concerns in a reassuring manner. Alisha took great care of my newborn and made sure all my baby’s needs were met. She also took great care of me and fed me delicious heathy food. I highly recommend Alisha Brown and am very pleased with her services. I can’t thank Alisha enough for such a positive experience. Keep up the good work well done!!!

January 3, 2024 at 11:59 am | Client reviewMy first home birth experience was with Alisha, my fourth son, after experiencing birth in a hospital. Alisha was very supportive, knowledgeable as well made me feel safe and comforted. She knew exactly what do during each stage of the birthing process , including after birth. I gave birth to a 13 pound baby! I could not have done it without Alisha., and there were no medical complications. The best home birth experience.
