Hello momma's in the Northern Georgia area! My name is Liliana aka Lily. I am a DONA trained birth and breastfeeding doula. I am a mother to 4 beautiful boys whom I have laboured and birthed completely different. My first baby was born via cesarean birth, 2nd baby was my hospital epidural VBAC birth and 3rd and 4th babies were born at home. Gave birth in 4 different scenarios and loved all 4 of them. I've always been obsessed with birthing and pregnancy! Once I had my children I KNEW I wanted to be there to support someone along THEIR birthing journey. I want to be there for YOU and YOUR birthing wishes and how YOU envision it to be.

Care philosophy

I believe that birth is a god given ability. God made us to labor and labor in our own special way. As a doula I will be there for you when you need me to help you in every step of the way from the beginning to the end and beyond

I'm a mother who has encountered varying childbirth experiences such as cesarean to vbac, hospital to home, and assisted to unassisted birth. I utilize this wisdom along with 10 years as a traditional birth attendant to guide mothers and families in making informed decisions related to preconception, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care. To further assist families, I enhanced my expertise by partnering with various childbirth support organizations and continuing my pursuit of education receiving certifications that include becoming a childbirth educator, lactation counselor, bereavement aide, herbalist and unassisted birth advisor to name a few. These endeavors inspired me to host monthly womens' gatherings, annual community events and also train women who desire to become a doula.

Care philosophy

I believe every family deserves a supportive team of childbirth professionals providing collaborative care that helps them achieve their birth and parenting goals. I encourage mothers to confidently take authority over their birth journey, trust their instincts, and know that having self-knowledge and current evidence based data is what empowers her to shape her childbirth destiny.

Serving pregnant women from around the world in my previous work challenged my thoughts on how pregnancy, labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period should be experienced. These women taught me more than I could ever put in words and ignited my passion for birth work. As my passion grew, I began doing research on birth options in America, I learned very quickly that the maternal and fetal death rate in this country is the worst of any other developed country which lead me to want to be apart of the solution.

Care philosophy

A birthing person should have the education and support to birth in what they consider the best way possible. I have supported Cesareans, birth with Epidurals, fully natural, Hospital, Home and Birth Center. It is their birth I am a tool for their best birth.

In my role as a mother of five, student, teacher, doula, and community youth advocate, I've witnessed the need for healing within our communities. In response, I've embraced my innate qualities of compassion and a commitment to supporting individuals on their birthing and parenthood journeys. Growing up, I would only hear our socialized woes of childbirth. When I learned of my first pregnancy, I was concerned about how I would endure the pain. Now, having experienced my unique path through childbirth and motherhood, I celebrate the diverse ways individuals navigate pregnancy, labor, postpartum, and nursing. As a Doula, I'm dedicated to amplifying the lesser-shared stories, recognizing the individual meaning and purpose inherent in each birth journey. Embracing the sacredness of the fourth "trimester," I am dedicated to supporting postpartum mothers. I believe this period is as crucial as the preceding three trimesters, deserving of attention, care, and understanding. Drawing from my journey, I've cultivated a deep appreciation for the significance of breastfeeding and the many forms of bottle feeding. I'm grateful for the opportunity to nurse my children and have become an advocate for spreading the "good word" regarding the myriad benefits and options of nursing for both mother and baby. In 2022, I completed a 20-hour Loving Support Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Training, as a recommitment to supporting mothers on their breastfeeding journeys. Looking ahead, I am excited to pursue IBCLC certification, further enhancing my ability to empower and assist mothers in their breastfeeding experiences. In essence, my doula practice is founded on the principles of compassion, personalized support, and the celebration of diverse birthing stories. I am driven by a profound belief in the significance of each individual's journey and a commitment to fostering healing within our communities. As I continue to grow and evolve in my various roles, I remain dedicated to providing unwavering support, education, and advocacy to those embarking on the transformative path of childbirth and motherhood.

Care philosophy

I prioritize empathy, empowerment, and holistic support. Every birth journey is unique, deserving personalized care. I empower clients through informed decision-making, advocate for their choices, and offer continuous, holistic presence. Postpartum, my commitment extends to nurturing a smooth transition into parenthood, ensuring each individual feels supported, empowered, and heard.

My first home birth experience was with Alisha, my fourth son, after experiencing birth in a hospital. Alisha was very supportive, knowledgeable as well made me feel safe and comforted. She knew exactly what do during each stage of the birthing process , including after birth. I gave birth to a 13 pound baby! I could not have done it without Alisha., and there were no medical complications. The best home birth experience.

My gymnastics and acrobatic experience at Cirque du Soleil demanded my focus around quick recovery in order to perform optimally. Thus, I married my two passions by using my experience and knowledge in recovery and my desire to help postpartum mothers to create The Atlanta Postpartum Doula. With my kinesiology background and my love for natural modalities, I created a philosophy of care centered around the body's physiological design. I honor the traditional systems that women have been using for thousands of years all around the world and rooted my care around these four pillars to ensure a smooth transition after birth: Recovery, nutrition, body work, community. We want women to thrive, not just survive the postpartum period. This is the standard, not just for a select few individuals. Additionally, I use evidence-based information and believe in working alongside parents to develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and resources for a successful journey into parenthood.

Care philosophy

I provide holistic support and work mostly with education, support, and mentorship through in-person and virtual services!

Melissa was just what our family needed as we prepared to embark on what would be the biggest blessing of our life so far. I knew what the books said to do to prepare for a new baby but Melissa helped me weed they that information and do what was just right for us. She helped me organize and know what I had and needed, hence, making a registry an easy process. Once our daughter arrived, she was there to assist with the transition without a hitch. She helped me learn to feed our daughter, bathe our daughter, swaddle her, calm her- you name it. She listened to my worries and helped keep up with the household chores while we were soaking in every moment with our new addition. I honestly don’t know how people do it- everyone needs a Melissa.

Hi, my name is Stephanie and I am a DONA certified Birth Doula, Postpartum Doula, certified Lactation Educator Counselor, certified CPR Instructor, certified Child Passenger Safety Technician, and certified Happiest Baby Educator. My husband Jeff and I have been married for 23 years and we live north of Atlanta with our son Hunter. When I am not with clients, I enjoy hiking, sewing, going to the gym, and spending time with my family Before becoming a stay-at-home mom, I spent the previous 20 years of my life working in the medical-office field, beginning as a filing clerk and working my way up to billing manager and eventually office manager, which included the management of an OB/GYN practice in the Northside Hospital area. When my husband and I decided to become parents ourselves, we struggled with infertility issues, which resulted in us consulting a reproductive specialist. After weighing all the options, we decided to try In-Vitro Fertilization in order to conceive our son. It was a long and difficult process, but we are forever grateful to the physician and his practice along with the never ending support we received from our family, friends, and coworkers. When a longtime childhood friend asked me to support her during the home birth of her second child as well as photograph the experience, I gladly accepted. A few years later, she asked me to be there again for the birth of her third child. A year later I was asked by another childhood friend, if I would participate in the hospital birth of her daughter and be her doula. All three of these experiences had a profound effect on me. These experiences, in addition to becoming a mother myself, allowed me to discover the passion I would have for becoming a doula. As a doula, I am dedicated to educating, supporting, and assisting families so that they have the best possible experience bringing their little ones into the world. No matter whether this is your first child or your sixth child, I am here to help make this a special time.

Care philosophy

I am dedicated to educating, supporting, and assisting families so that they have the best possible experience bringing their little ones into the world, no matter if they are becoming a parent for the first time or the fifth. Knowing that every couple’s needs are different, I tailor the support that I provide to each client’s individual needs and desires.

We hired Stephanie originally as our birth doula, but then hired her for CPR training and certification as well as a postpartum doula. She was a fabulous help in all areas from preparing us for labor, coaching me during labor, helping with breastfeeding questions, helping with the twins for several months after the birth. She is the epitome of professional, incredibly disciplined, and an expert in her field. She is also very comfortable to be around, which is so very needed during labor and postpartum when one is so vulnerable both physically and emotionally. I felt so supported by her and would hire her again in a heartbeat.

She is simply amazing. With Rachel’s phenomenal support I was able to achieve my goal of a natural labor at the hospital. She preformed many different techniques to help me be as comfortable as I could be going through the contractions. Rachel gave me the encouragement I needed and wasn’t afraid to speak up to hospital staff to make sure my birth plan could go accordingly as possible. Not only is she an amazing support for birth but she truly saved my breastfeeding journey. She was very attentive night and day in helping me with any questions or concerns and would even check on us herself which was so nice. Rachel is very passionate and knowledgeable about her work as a doula. I highly recommend her and will most definitely have her be my doula again if I were to have another baby.

Lactation Consultant: FAQs

A certified lactation consultant is a professional that helps parents address and solve their breastfeeding problems. Many new parents believe that breastfeeding is easy, only to find more obstacles than anticipated. 92% of parents say they are having problems with breastfeeding their new baby within only 3 days.

Nursing doesn’t always come naturally.

Breastfeeding can be overwhelming and all-consuming. A lactation consultant in Roswell, GA can identify issues such as low milk supply, latching problems, or nipple engorgement. They also offer advice and techniques to help parents understand existing issues, improve how they read their baby’s cues, and feel empowered about breastfeeding despite existing social norms.

Every parent’s journey is unique, and there might be specific challenges or obstacles in your particular situation. The ultimate goal of a lactation consultant is to support parents who choose to breastfeed their children. A lactation consultant in Roswell, GA can often save parents time and energy, and also give them some peace of mind.

Many mothers also face issues where they cannot breastfeed in the workplace or lack the family support or time to ensure that their child is breastfed correctly. A lactation consultant in Roswell, GA can also provide a significant amount of moral support, diagnose breastfeeding issues, and solve latching, positioning, and scheduling issues.

To find a lactation specialist in Roswell, GA, most parents recommend creating a job post on Meela and having uniquely qualified lactation experts near you (in your budget) reach out to you through the Meela app.

You can interview and chat with as many lactation specialists as you wish and hire a lactation consultant with confidence. It is completely free to create a job post on Meela and find a lactation consultant. There are no commitments to hire any of the qualified and expert vetted experts Meela brings you.

Here’s how it works in 3 easy steps:

  1. Post a job for free: Answer some questions and receive responses from top-rated lactation specialists near you. It takes less than 30 seconds to post your job.
  2. Get your list of lactation consultants: In a few hours, you will have a collection of lactation consultants near you who are qualified to meet your needs. You can compare pricing, experience, and read reviews. You can chat with each lactation specialist to learn more about them.
  3. Hire a lactation consultant with confidence: Schedule virtual or in-person interviews with your top choices. Hire your top lactation specialist and start getting the care you deserve.

To find a lactation consultant, you can also browse the available professionals near you in Roswell, GA and read reviews, compare pricing, experience and fit. Send the lactation consultants you are interested in a message, introducing yourself and setting up an interview. We recommend reaching out to and interviewing at least three lactation consultants before hiring a lactation specialist near you. After interviewing, hire the most qualified lactation specialist near you and start getting the care you deserve.

The cost of a lactation consultant can vary based on a variety of factors, including their experience, their services, and their skills or specializations. Overall, the average cost of a lactation consultant in Roswell, GA is $185 per hour based on a survey of 120 lactation specialists in the Roswell, GA area.

Under the Affordable Care Act, many insurance companies should be covering the cost of lactation services. However, there are a number of factors that determine whether insurance will cover the cost of a certified lactation consultant in Roswell, GA. You should contact your insurance company for more information.

Here are some factors to consider regarding insurance and your lactation consultant cost:

  • Your insurance provider
  • Your individual health plan
  • The type of lactation specialist
  • The specific service provided

Meela’s network of lactations specialists in Roswell, GA offer both in-home lactation support sessions or virtual lactation support sessions. Both types of sessions typically last between 1 and 3 hours. In your sessions, your lactation specialist will spend time understanding the issues you are facing and work with you and your baby to diagnose the issues have and also provide specific guidance and hands-on practice and exercises.

Lactation consultants help parents understand the best way to comfortably breastfeed their baby and help them navigate breastfeeding social norms. They can also help reduce stress and anxiety about breastfeeding, or help with specific challenges (such as breastfeeding twins, for example). Other parents might just want emotional support that doesn’t currently exist within their family, workplace, or network or friends.

Certified lactation consultants can also help with specialized issues that may arise with premature children or sick children. A parent may not have thought about breastfeeding help until they notice that their baby isn’t gaining weight properly, and finally realize that they might need some support and knowledge before continuing to breastfeed. On the other hand, some parents might prepare with a lactation consultant months before the baby is born.

Whether you are planning ahead or are thinking about a lactation now that you are having breastfeeding issues or concerns, a lactation consultant can be incredibly helpful and useful for parents.

Lactation counselors in Roswell, GA can often help parents with breastfeeding and offer breastfeeding advice, training, and troubleshooting. Many of these counselors have taken the CLC exam, or the Certified Lactation Counselor exam. A certified lactation counselor has typically undergone 45 hours of training.

On the other hand, a certified lactation consultant in Roswell, GA has undergone a specific amount of clinical training hours, which is not a requirement to become a lactation counselor. These lactation consultants are certified by the International Board of Certified Lactation Consultants, as well. A lactation consultant typically has a bachelor’s degree in a health field and has undergone 90 hours of training and has somewhere between 300 and 1,000 hours of experience with parents.

Lactation consultants in Roswell, GA are often working with other healthcare teams in collaboration with postpartum nurses to ensure that parents understand how to breastfeed their babies. Both lactation consultants and lactation counselors can provide support, develop feeding plans, and offer actionable advice with respect to breastfeeding.
