I provide support, guidance, reassurance, resources, and referrals for your newborn care, infant feeding, and all postpartum needs. The only granola I ascribe to is what I put on my yogurt. I offer comforting, accessible, down to earth, crystal-free care. I provide non-judgmental care -- it is not my place to tell you how to parent. I firmly believe that the best way to support you is to support your parenting choices. I'm there to give you support, stress relief, encouragement, resources, and guidance in order for you to become the expert on your baby.

Care philosophy

Down to earth doulaing means I keep things simple. I’m a "what you see is what you get" kind of person. Someone to take care of you and your needs while you redirect your energy to the constant care of your newborn. I provide all of the care "none of the crystals".

Hi, I’m Danielle (she/her), your full-spectrum, no-nonsense doula! As your doula, I will hold space for you to deeply connect to your power while also guiding you in becoming centered, enabling you to think clearly & critically. Helping you make informed choices for a positive experience. A positive experience isn't a standardized experience but one where you feel safe, respected, & supported throughout. I know that it can be challenging to breathe & slow down during a heightened and active state of emotion when it comes to our bodies. My doula training incorporated a practice called the Slow Doula Method. SDM helps me slow down to effectively communicate & connect with my clients’ needs while exhibiting self-awareness and humility, free of judgment. My yoga training and personal practice have shown me how to better understand the mind & body connection to feel a greater sense of control not only on a mat but also in life. Through workshops in my community, I’ve gathered the tools to better understand the greater scope of consent, bodily autonomy, & advocacy.

Care philosophy

My goal as your doula isn’t to sway you in any direction. It’s to provide you with unconditional support, tools, & evidence-based information so you can make the BEST decision for yourself! I’ll honor your choices & help you advocate for yourself. I don’t go home with your body or your mind; only you do. Your choices only matter to me in the sense that you feel good about them!

Hi! I'm Alicia, Currently open to working within Brooklyn and Staten Island, NY, I became passionate about birth work after working for an Obstetrics And Gynecology Group for 4+ years. I spent many days offering a hand within the practice, but thought how amazing it would be to follow and support these lovely Mommy's To Be till the very end of their pregnancy, I received my certification in 2019 and have attended 10+ births. Being able to support not only Mom's to be but partners, has been the biggest joy. I was luckily able to attend VBAC, C-Section and Induction Births. I was also able to work throughout the Pandemic via FaceTime and in hospital. Being a Doula has brought me so much joy and many incredible bonds that will be lifelong.

Care philosophy

I believe childbirth is a beautiful, awesomely complex, life-changing, and extremely personal experience. My role as your doula is to provide you with essential, empathetic support by offering a therapeutic presence, a comforting touch, pain management support, and continual guidance to more efficiently communicate with your chosen care provider. I strive for my clients to feel empowered and safe.

Birth is a time of transformation. It is one foot in your old world and one foot in this new one. It is beautiful and awe-inspiring. It is fun (yes, FUN!) with lots of laughter and joy. It’s tears and sadness. It’s many things. And it is also work -- hard work -- both mentally and physically. Sometimes our expectations create more discomfort in childbirth and parenting than the actual pains of labor. Expectations are a normal part of the human experience and so my goal is to help guide you through this transformational time, demystifying the process. As a doula, I offer informational, emotional and physical support for the laboring person (and, if they have one, their partner too). I believe it’s about bringing a calm presence and actively listening to the birthing person's values and needs. I am proud to be a companion and honored to be apart of the welcome committee. It’s knowing someone will always be there to fully support you, asses your needs and do everything in their power to make this experience joyous and deeply empowering. When I say, “you’ve got this.” I truly mean and believe it. Birth isn’t just something that happens, it’s something that should be engaged with care and after having my own child, I felt and experienced the importance of continuous emotional and non-medical support that I did not receive from any other care provider throughout my whole entire pregnancy.

Care philosophy

My philosophy is simple; there is no wrong way to birth as long as your choices and decisions through the journey are being heard and respected. In working together, I hope to co-create the vision for how you would like to feel during your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience. I love helping families move through this time creating confidence in deciding what feels right for them!

In 2018 I read an article about the increasing black maternal mortality rate in the NY Times. I felt connected to the story since my own pregnancy could have had a dark outcome. At that moment I decided that I wanted to assist humans with their prenatal and postpartum experience, by becoming a doula and receiving my doula certification with Mama Glow. I believe that every expectant human should have a doula, regardless of their family make-up. I am a single mom of one living in New York. I pride myself on being a protector of those I encounter while enforcing the mindset of being gentle with yourself.

Care philosophy

As your doula, I am here to support you and you needs. I will be your champion throughout your pregnancy as well as in the early postpartum period. You will receive emotional support, physical support and comfort measures, education, breastfeeding assistance, and encouragement. We will explore your birth preferences also known as a birth plan. I will advocate for you and help you communicate with

As a Wholistic Childbirth Consultant, I offer holistic, fertility planning, antenatal herbal consultation, childbirth education, nutritional/breastfeeding guidance as well as birth and postpartum support. Antenatal, Birth and Postpartum packages may include but are not limited to; prenatal visits, on-call support for questions and concerns, monthly email updates, hands-on birth support, and postpartum visits. Childbirth is a transformative event where pregnant women have access to altered states of consciousness that allow them to have an expanded perspective of life and of themselves. This culminates in the birthing process. Realizing that many women desire to be witnessed, rather than managed, in this extraordinary experience. By putting a different spin on what it really means to support and witness a woman and we explore what it means to nurture a mom during her childbearing years.

Care philosophy

Maritday specializes in natural (including VBAC) births whether at home, in birthing centers or within a hospital setting. Her belief is that healthier pregnancies, outcomes & above all healthier babies & families come from a healthy mother who feels supported & encouraged throughout her pregnancy. I came to birth work with a professional history in both art and social work, with my immediate background in supporting young parents through housing insecurity and life transition (wellness, sobriety, education, employment). What inspires and sustains me as a doula is a commitment to village parenting— where we all hold the babies, all chip in resources, and thereby carve access to a freedom of being that surpasses baby & parent. I completed my training with Ancient Song Doula Services, an organization committed to serving people of color and addressing implicit bias & racism within healthcare systems through direct advocacy and community training. Ancient Song’s dedication to black maternal health and focus on full-spectrum services is what led me to the collective. I have experience working with first-time births, single parents-to-be, birthing people for whom English is their second language, undocumented individuals, and systems-involved families (ACS/CPS, foster care, criminal justice).

Care philosophy

My practice is rooted in the belief that community support can be an inherent part of how we conceive, grow, and raise our babies; that both conceiving and parenting are political & spiritual undertakings that are strengthened when our communities are present with us. My practice intentionally supports all bodies, all genders, and all family planning formations.

Birthing & Beyond is here to help individuals manifest new ways to process many of life transitions. Birthing is not a destination or an endpoint. It is a constant learning and unlearning through the many cycles of life. We spend many days, weeks and years seeking and looking for validation without realizing the growing, developing and the healing work that is happening within our lives. The work that I do is different from other doula services because I am focused on the whole woman-birthing and beyond. This holistic approach acknowledges the many transitions that a woman will go through during her pregnancy and postpartum. I discovered dozens of non-profit organizations addressing different needs in communities of color but what I found lacking in these organizations was a holistic approach focused on the mind + body for women of color beyond giving birth. Taking a holistic approach is an important aspect of the work because I want women to have the tools that they need to learn, grow, and heal as they transition into motherhood. At Birthing & Beyond, it is my intention to create a space for women to find self-acceptance and peace to navigate the new realities of life.

Care philosophy

I believe that women are the experts of their bodies. My purpose throughout the process and beyond is to help women to recognize and strengthen the abilities and gifts that are already located within. As a birthing partner, I am here to help, encourage, affirm and provide women with the support they need whether that is physical, emotional or informational.

I'm a Birth and Postpartum Doula, as well as a Certified Lactation Counselor. I'm also a native New Yorker, a lover of travel, an actress, and a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. My mom was a doula, childbirth educator, and acupuncturist and my dad was a physician, so I grew up with a pretty balanced perspective on holistic vs. medical approaches, and I'm committed to supporting whichever path you take. I have no judgment or agenda for your birth or your parenting style - my job is to support you in your choices and to assist and celebrate you in achieving your goals. The process of becoming a parent (or becoming a parent again!) is a beautiful, amazing, messy, hilarious, humbling thing to bear witness to, and I feel so lucky to get to help people navigate that journey. I care deeply about this work, and I believe in you.

Care philosophy

I believe every birthing person has an inner knowing; I'm passionate about helping you connect to that knowing so your choices during this profound time are truly yours. Whether you need hands-on comfort techniques or someone to hold space for your own internal process, I approach each situation with empathy, grounded emotional support, & the occasional well-timed joke. I'm honored to join you.

A postpartum doula in Yonkers, NY is meant to help the entire family and their role is not just limited to the birthing parent and newborn. A doula provides physical and emotional support to parents and siblings, but they also offer information and advice regarding how to feed, bathe, swaddle, and soothe the baby.

They also often help with postpartum depression issues, and are considered child care “consultants” rather than medical professionals. Many postpartum doulas in Yonkers, NY offer a range of services that can help with parents trying to adjust to a newborn child. These services often include:

  • Sibling care
  • Assist with household chores
  • Parent-baby bonding
  • Physical and emotional recovery
  • Support to parents and extended family

A postpartum doula in Yonkers, NY can have a lasting positive impact on a family and help them feel more confident about their parenting role and the way that they feed and nurture their baby. They might offer advice regarding feeding, bathing, and parent-baby bonding.

It is important to note that a postpartum doula might offer advice but is not expected to provide medical care of any kind or serve as a replacement to an accredited physician. Postpartum doulas are also not qualified to prescribe medication.

Many new parents want to know about certified postpartum doulas and how exactly they are certified. Since the demand for postpartum doulas has greatly expanded in the last several years, the number of reputable postpartum doula training and certification programs has grown in Yonkers, NY. Training criteria can differ from program to program, but most follow a similar curriculum which includes core academic curriculum and practical hours and real-life care experience.

One of the most common national postpartum doula training certifications comes from DONA International. A postpartum doula usually receives about 27 hours of practical training before they are a certified postpartum doula.

There are also CAPPA-certified postpartum doulas in Yonkers, NY, as well. These doulas were certified by the Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association, an international organization that certifies doulas and other childbirth educators/professionals.

As a reminder, because postpartum doulas are not trained to be a medical professional and diagnose and treat medical conditions, a certification is not required for them to practice.

As their names suggest, a birth doula’s main priority is to provide support services before, during and in the moments immediately after childbirth. A postpartum doula’s obligations usually begin after the birth, for several weeks or months. In many cases, your birth doula will also be a trained and certified postpartum doula, which can provide a continuity of care that many parents find extremely valuable.

Many parents want to know whether a postpartum doula or a baby nurse would meet their needs and expectations. A baby nurse might be focused on making sure that a baby sleeps or feeds properly, but that might be the extent of their role. A postpartum doula generally offers more holistic services for their clients.

A postpartum doula in Yonkers, NY is expected to be more involved with the family as a whole. They might remain involved in sibling care or also provide emotional support to the partner as both parents adjust to becoming new parents. This may even include support for older siblings, light housework, and even meal prep. A postpartum doula provides more physical, emotional, and informational support than a baby nurse.

You can hire two types of doulas in Yonkers, NY: a birth doula and a postpartum doula. The birth doula is during your pregnancy and through the birth of your child. They provide you with emotional, physical and educational support during your pregnancy, your labor and delivery and for the first few hours after your child is born.

A postpartum doula will support you for the first few weeks after the baby is born. They provide in-home assistance, including teaching you how to take care of your newborn, acting as lactation consultant, and can provide some night nanny services.
