Birth is an important gateway for families into parenting or expanding their family. My focus is in supporting your relationship with your partner and assisting both of you through the birth of your baby. I truly believe your partner is in labor as much as you are, (mentally, emotionally, and spiritually), and as a unit need nurturing and support. My hope is that you come away from birth more bonded and connected.

Care philosophy

My focus is on supporting the birthing person, and their partner, before birth and through the birth itself. I teach Hypnosis for Birth in private sessions to prepare for birth, and during birth providing emotional, physical, and informational support.

I am so happy that I found Nancy for my birth services. My birth center highly recommended her as one of the area’s best. I originally signed up just for Nancy’s Hypnosis for Birth classes and discovered she was also a birth doula. After her consultation call, I knew I had to sign up for both services!

Her hypnosis classes were by far the best birth classes I had ever taken. I took a birthing class with my firstborn, but I didn’t feel like it gave me tools I could use for labor. However, I became so prepared with Nancy’s and learned SO much! These classes are a MUST for anyone who is expecting.

As my doula, I trusted her and felt safe in her knowledge when it was time to get to the birthing center. She knew it was time to go as soon as I called her, which was helpful because I wasn’t sure if it was yet that close to giving birth. She ensured I was comfortable during my labor and that both my husband and mother felt a part of the experience.

If you can work with Nancy, I highly recommend it! If you can take her class and hire her as a doula, it is the BEST combo! I recommend Nancy to any expecting mother who wants to feel confident and have actual tools to help support her during labor.

I've always had a passion for helping others, and my own complicated journey to parenthood sparked the fire to help others have the best possible experience in their own. Through my personal experiences with bereavement and infertility, I developed a special interest in helping people going through more uncommon circumstances. I'm especially drawn to help people that regular society tends to overlook or frown on, so my greatest heart work is with BIPOC, the LGBTQ+ community, and teens who may be lacking adequate parental support. I also offer termination support, whether elective or medically necessary.

Care philosophy

I believe that all pregnant people deserve compassionate care and support, regardless of race, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or economic status. A healthy baby starts with a healthy and supported pregnancy and birth. I'm also available as a postpartum support/ night nanny.

Cynthia supported the birth of my 4th baby during the pandemic in 2020. At the time I was couch surfing with my 3 older kids and was planning to have a home birth. Things were scary and unknown but when Cynthia became my doula, I felt a safe. She did everything in her power to support me and my wishes. Cynthia provided appointments and information prior to birth. Showed up as a strong and steady force at my birth. Supported me postpartum with meals, encapsulating my placenta, making postpartum tinctures, meals. Etc. I recommend her services to everyone I know. She cares deeply about her clients and supporting women to achieve their dream birth.

Doula Services: FAQs

A doula is a professional that provides emotional, physical and educational support to new parents before, during, and after childbirth and into the early postpartum period. Doulas are companions who strive to give families a safe, positive, and healthy labor experience. They provide parents with evidence-based information and education on childbirth and are someone who the parent can turn to with questions and concerns about having a baby. Doulas also take an active role in collaborating with the parent to create a birth plan.

A certified birth doula offers advice and techniques to help reduce the stress that the parent often experiences during childbirth and provides you with education about different aspects of delivery and labor and what comes after.

You can hire two types of doulas in Sammamish, WA: a birth doula and a postpartum doula. The birth doula is during your pregnancy and through the birth of your child. They provide you with emotional, physical and educational support during your pregnancy, your labor and delivery and for the first few hours after your child is born.

A doula can provide support during the birth whether it occurs in a hospital, a home, or another birth center of some kind. Doulas are there to support you in your desired birth preferences, whether that is a preference for natural, non-medicated, assisted, C-section or anything else.

Certified doulas can also act as a liaison between you and hospital staff regarding your childbirth expectations and preferences. For example, if your preference is to have a non-medicated birth, a doula can help guide you through that process and create a personalized birth plan. 2. Describe their birth experience in a positive way
  3. Give birth without the need for medical intervention, such as C-sections or vacuum delivery
  4. Experience a shorter labor

You can hire a doula early in your pregnancy to allow you time to get to know each other and to begin planning for your later trimesters, labor, birth, and aftercare. It is ideal to hire a doula when you are around 20 weeks along, but you can start looking for one before that.

It is never too late to hire a doula in Sammamish, WA; you have right up to your due date to find a doula near you and receive all the benefits of doula support.

While many people think that a doula and a midwife are the same thing, their educational background and job duties are different. Doulas are non-medical professionals who provide emotional, physical and educational support, while also offering actionable advice and guidance to new parents about how to nurture their baby.

A midwife is a certified nurse-midwife (CNM) or a certified midwife (CM). CNMs are medical professionals that are certified and licensed by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. CMs are also certified, but they do not have nursing backgrounds.

Doulas are not medical professionals; they focus on the emotional support for the parents and the family before, during, and after the birth of the baby. Their job is to provide information, advice, and support to the family not diagnose any medical conditions or provide medical advice.
