Words can not express the level of gratitude my wife and I have for Jenn. She was more than a Doula, she quickly became our sister, best friend and mother (like support). She supported my wife and I through every moment. I was able to have the birth I really wanted even though it wasn’t what we had necessarily expected. She said she couldn’t guarantee a perfect birth but she could guarantee a well supported and well loved birth. She was right! She supported us at the beginning at the end and everything in between. It was a perfect birth simply because Jenn was apart of it.

I am someone who loves to support and advocate for others. I am a natural born caretaker and get much enjoyment by helping others. I was in the human services world as a chemical dependency counselor for about 15 years and worked with individuals when they were at their worst and never judged their journey. I started my work as a birth and postpartum doula in March of 2022, where I continue to work with others with a nonjudgmental stance. I would be honored to be at your side while bringing a new life into this world as your birth doula. I would also be privileged to work with your growing family during the 4th trimester (12 weeks after delivery). Postpartum can be overwhelming to many, and I would be able to provide tools, tips and an extra set of hands to help!

Care philosophy

As a birth doula, my hope is that you can look back on your birth experience with me and have positive memories. I will respect your choices and help you process options as needed. I believe having your voice heard is incredibly important, and that is what I will do, listen. As a postpartum doula, it is crucial that you trust me in your home, with your family and mainly with your newborn baby!

Hello! I believe the birth experience is unique to every family I have worked with. I also believe in supporting the entire birthing family. I provide prenatal support, continuous labor and birth support and throughout the postpartum journey. Doulas should be the standard of pregnancy and maternal care, I am here to give you a healthy and positive experience. I am a solo practice but work with many other doulas to make sure there is back up support. I started my career in kinesiology and personal training, so understanding how the body works and believe movement aides the labor process. This is paramount to my practice as your Birth Doula. I also had a difficult postpartum period and trouble latching with my first baby and she was colicky. I understand the challenges that come with finding your way with breastfeeding and discovering who you are as parents while fighting sleep deprivation. I am truly honored and humbled to be apart of your birth and can’t wait to work with you!

Care philosophy

I am passionate about supporting the entire birthing family. I hope to help you have a positive and healthy birth experience. To support you in your journey into parenthood.

Meagan was an asset to us preparing for birth, during labor and delivery, and in post partum support. She helped us feel prepared and informed planning for birth. Meagan was so present, comforting and encouraging while we were at the hospital. I felt stronger and more confident as we worked together to further labor. My husband was glad to have a guide as he supported me. Post partum, we debriefed and Meagan. Our story and experience was heard and validated. Through this whole process, we have felt so cared for.

Hi! I'm Bria. I'm a wife and a mama to three little humans. We live in North Minneapolis and love exploring new foods, camping & hiking, and spending our weekends at the Mpls Farmers Market. I own half of Bright Earth Doulas with my business partner, Tabitha. My interest in birth work began after my second baby was born. My passion is in supporting people in their journey to parenthood. Everyone wants to hold the baby.... I'm here to hold the parent[s]! After hearing countless testimonies from birthing people who wish they'd known more before giving birth, I decided to become a doula. My goal is to INFORM, ASSIST, and EMPOWER pregnant people, so that they go into their birth feeling confident and supported. As a doula, I support all birth. Whether you're planning a home birth in a tub, or a C-section in a hospital, I'm here for it. The most important thing to me is that we develop mutual trust, and that you feel comfortable with me by your side. My personality is pretty type-A, and I love numbers and evidence. One of my goals as a doula is to make sure my clients always know their options, and understand the risks/benefits of the decisions they make. This obsession with the science behind birth led me to become a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator, and start teaching our Preparing for Childbirth course. The course was designed to teach you ALL of your birthing options - not just your hospital's "policies". I personally struggled during my first postpartum. When we focus on birth but ignore postpartum, it's like focusing on our wedding and ignoring the marriage. But, there aren't enough resources and too many Americans feel our culture doesn't prepare us for postpartum! This is why I created the Preparing for Postpartum Workshop - I want you to have a game plan to thrive after your baby is born. I'm excited to connect with you, and work with you during this lifechanging time!

Care philosophy

We believe that information and support are the foundations to a positive transition to parenthood. Our goal is to inspire clients to tap into their intuition, get educated about birth, and feel empowered in their new role as parents.

When I was pregnant with my first child and told my midwife that I was hoping for an unmedicated birth, she quickly recommended I find a doula. Prior to giving birth and having a child I liked being in control and would get frustrated when things didn't go as expected. During my pregnancy I worked hard to let go and be flexible. Don't get me wrong, I still love to plan and organize! However, I was able to find joy and peace in the unknown. Having a doula by my side allowed me to let go and connect with my body and my husband in ways I never would have imagined possible during labor and birth. Wild Mother is committed to supporting you through your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. It's my pleasure to provide you with... Resources and evidence based research during your pregnancy so you feel confident about your choices Physical and emotional support during labor and birth Assist with breastfeeding and lend a helping hand to you postpartum

Care philosophy

Since becoming a mother, I have learned a lot. The greatest lesson possibly, that advocating for yourself and having support makes a huge impact on how you experience life. I'm passionate about serving others as they birth and transform into parenthood. Every person, every birth, and every baby is unique. I'm here to help you feel confident throughout your pregnancy and be proud of your birth!

My Philosophy as a Doula I believe… You deserve to be respected, heard, and seen as a unique individual with intersecting identities. Your identities, history, and values matter. You hold the wisdom to make the best choices for yourself and your child. Birth is political; from hospitals to insurance to parental leave policies, the system is designed to serve a privileged few. Racial disparities in birth-related statistics are not due to race, but due to racism. Not just women carry and birth babies. Every human deserves bodily autonomy and choice. My role is to empower, support, and advocate. My role is to build connection and trust. My role is to hold space for you.

Care philosophy

Holistic care is my focus, as pregnancy, birth, and the transitions involved are not simply physical experiences, but can deeply affect you emotionally and spiritually as well. I operate with the core values of inclusivity, non-judgement, empowerment, anti-racism, advocacy, and humility.

My name is Lindsay and I live in Northeast Minneapolis with my husband, 10-year-old & 3-year-old daughters, and my 18-month old son. We have dreams of moving to the country and having a hobby farm. Someday those dreams will be realized but in the meantime, we enjoy city life and all its nuanced wonder. I had a doula during my births and have since been inspired to offer the support, education, and sincere sense of calm that my doula offered me.

Care philosophy

My intention as a doula is to support you, encourage you, process options with you, and most importantly, create space to help you breathe and allow the innate feelings of strength and power you possess serve you during this life-changing experience. Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of your birth team!

I currently live in Ramsey, MN, with my husband and 2 children. With my 1st child, I chose a hospital setting, without professional support. I personally wish I had, especially to have advocacy and informed decisions! With my 2nd, I chose a home birth and it was magical! I absolutely loved it and I completely saw the differences. I started doula work because I began researching interventions and many people on social media asked me questions! I realized that I have a knack for educating, supporting and knowing more about childbirth!

Care philosophy

I am a holistic doula that believes in the entire body, as well as mentality. I believe everyone should make informed choices about their care. I love to educate, support and be there for my clients in any way possible.

It is my great honor to accompany birth-givers and their families as they bring babies to the world. I make myself available as an emotional, physical, and informational support to help each family thrive in their birth experience. I listen, observe, and use my intuition to provide deep support that is specific to each family. I strive to empower birthing people to ask for what they want in the birth process, and to help them integrate the changes of plan that sometimes happen along the way. I have been serving families as a birth doula since 2017. I was called to this work after giving birth to my own daughter and experiencing the value of doula support. After my own daughter’s birth, A few dear friends asked me to support their births. I trained as a birth doula and dove into the beautiful world of birth. I have been a bodyworker for the past 10 years and have served people in all stages of life Including pregnancy. I have a background in dance and performance. I am a lifelong student of the human body's capacity to change, integrate, expand, express, give birth, let go, and heal.

Care philosophy

I support all birthing people, and all kinds of births. I support birth in hospitals, homes, and birth-centers. I support all family configurations, all races, and all genders. I believe welcoming a child to the world is a sacred event. It is my goal to offer the support needed for birthing people to be fully present and empowered in their choices.

Doula Services: FAQs

A doula is a professional that provides emotional, physical and educational support to new parents before, during, and after childbirth and into the early postpartum period. Doulas are companions who strive to give families a safe, positive, and healthy labor experience. They provide parents with evidence-based information and education on childbirth and are someone who the parent can turn to with questions and concerns about having a baby. Doulas also take an active role in collaborating with the parent to create a birth plan.

A certified birth doula offers advice and techniques to help reduce the stress that the parent often experiences during childbirth and provides you with education about different aspects of delivery and labor and what comes after.

You can hire two types of doulas in Plymouth, MN: a birth doula and a postpartum doula. The birth doula is during your pregnancy and through the birth of your child. They provide you with emotional, physical and educational support during your pregnancy, your labor and delivery and for the first few hours after your child is born.

A postpartum doula will support you for the first few weeks after the baby is born. They provide in-home assistance, including teaching you how to take care of your newborn, acting as lactation consultant, and can provide some night nanny services.

Yes, a birth doula can provide support during a Cesarean birth and delivery. Doulas are non-medical professionals and do not replace obstetricians, physicians, midwives or nurses. They are an additive member to the team and provide emotional, physical and informational support to the birthing parent, partner and family. It is up to you whether the certified doula can remain in the operating room during the procedure.

When you hire a doula in Plymouth, MN, your services typically include several in-person prenatal sessions, 24/7 phone and text support, full attendance throughout your labor, and several hours of support immediately following your birth.

A doula in Plymouth, MN can help you in any kind of birth. Certified doulas are able to assist parents in creating the ideal “birth environment” and help parents deliver their baby safely. A doula can provide support during the birth whether it occurs in a hospital, a home, or another birth center of some kind. Doulas are there to support you in your desired birth preferences, whether that is a preference for natural, non-medicated, assisted, C-section or anything else.

Certified doulas can also act as a liaison between you and hospital staff regarding your childbirth expectations and preferences. For example, if your preference is to have a non-medicated birth, a doula can help guide you through that process and create a personalized birth plan. A certified doula in Plymouth, MN does not replace medical staff (such as your obstetrician and nurses).

When a surgical procedure is required, there are some situations in which a birth doula can also remain in the operating room, although this is not an expected obligation. A certified birth doula can also assist hospital staff to improve the overall birthing experience. A doula in Plymouth, MN will typically stay with the parents for several hours after birth to help them with birth recovery.

Evidence suggests that a birth doula in Plymouth, MN can help improve parent satisfaction with their baby’s birth and delivery. The involvement of a doula can also lead to shorter deliveries with less complications.

Recent studies show that parents who have a support person like a doula by their side throughout labor and childbirth are more likely to:

  1. Give birth without the need for pain medicine
  2. Describe their birth experience in a positive way
  3. Give birth without the need for medical intervention, such as C-sections or vacuum delivery
  4. Experience a shorter labor

You can hire a doula early in your pregnancy to allow you time to get to know each other and to begin planning for your later trimesters, labor, birth, and aftercare. It is ideal to hire a doula when you are around 20 weeks along, but you can start looking for one before that.

It is never too late to hire a doula in Plymouth, MN; you have right up to your due date to find a doula near you and receive all the benefits of doula support.

While many people think that a doula and a midwife are the same thing, their educational background and job duties are different. Doulas are non-medical professionals who provide emotional, physical and educational support, while also offering actionable advice and guidance to new parents about how to nurture their baby.

A midwife is a certified nurse-midwife (CNM) or a certified midwife (CM). CNMs are medical professionals that are certified and licensed by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. CMs are also certified, but they do not have nursing backgrounds.

Doulas are not medical professionals; they focus on the emotional support for the parents and the family before, during, and after the birth of the baby. Their job is to provide information, advice, and support to the family not diagnose any medical conditions or provide medical advice.
