Marta Michalska-Uras MCD, MCPD, MCPCD, MBE, MCE (Madriella) is a certified Professional Birth and Postpartum Doula, Breastfeeding Educator and Childbirth Educator and mindfulness and holistic practices passionate. She has a Bachelor Degree in Education from a prestigious Charles University in Prague with extensive psychology courses and five years experience teaching pre-school and primary school students. Marta is very passionate about doula work and accompanying women as they prepare for childbirth, and she continues to support them in birth and beyond. Marta is a peaceful yet spirited mother to 3 wonderful boys- Twins conceived via infertility treatment and delivered vaginally at 38+3 (induced & epidural) and our little Surprise conceived naturally and delivered via unmedicated natural birth. Second pregnancy sparked her passion to become a doula – she studied while being pregnant and applied some techniques while delivering her youngest due to lack of available doula support in town. It was such an amazing experience! Marta calls herself a citizen of the world. She is Polish, married to a Turk, lived in Prague for six years, Louisiana for three and now in Cincinnati. As a person who knows how difficult it is to have babies without family support, she is pretty intuitive and open to what a client might need. Marta values inclusiveness, social justice, and equality. She serves all clients regardless of race, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, sex & gender identification abilities, and political identity. In spare time Marta loves to sing, she has Bachelor in Music Education and she took part in two TV programs as well as performed many concerts- so she loves to use voice techniques in sounding out birth and relaxation.

Care philosophy

Marta’s goal is that every mother feels grounded, nourished, empowered and ready to take on motherhood! She specializes in supporting all birth plans and parenting philosophies including unmedicated (natural) birth / epidural birth / cesarean birth / induction / planned cesarean birth / gentle (family centered) cesarean birth / multiples / VBAC / waterbirth / and much more!

From the first interaction at the start of pregnancy to having babygirl in my arms, Marta was truly so supportive of every goal & idea I had, even as those goals changed throughout the process. It was so easy to feel comfortable with her & feel truly heard as a client. I will always recommend her & will reach out to her for my future pregnancies and deliveries. I believe Marta was made to be a doula!

Jodi was a great support to both myself and my husband in pregnancy and labor. She took the time to answer all of our questions, and we had A LOT of questions. She was a calming presence in our birth. It was a huge relief to feel that I had someone who understood my goals in birth to advocate for me while I was laboring. I also want to specifically say that I loved that Jodi didn’t push the agenda of a certain type of birth. She presented the evidence for whatever I asked and then supported whatever decision I made. I never felt pressured into anything, which I had felt when I had interviewed other doulas. Jodi is fantastic and I would (and have!) recommended her to friends.

April was my first experience working with a doula and she was a key reason why I was able to achieve my home birth VBAC. Her focus on supporting the entire pregnancy rather than just the birth provided so much more support (physically, emotionally, and in a way spiritually) for my husband and I. I am so grateful for her support both during and after the birth. I hope to work with her again if we decide to have more children.

I found out about birthwork when a close friend became pregnant a few years ago, and found herself without support. I knew that I wanted to be there for her and do my best to help her have a positive experience during pregnancy and labor. Once she had her baby, I realized that there aren't many resources available for postpartum care and many families do not know what to expect once they bring the baby home. Because of this, I certified in Labor and Postpartum Care and began supporting families in my area.

Care philosophy

I believe that birth in all forms can be empowering and positive, as long as it is an informed and the birthing person is the focus of the experience. With evidence based education, unbiased care, and compassionate support, I give families the tools they need to thrive during pregnancy, labor, and early parenting. Whether this is your first or fifth baby, I'm happy to support you!

A postpartum doula in Beavercreek, OH is meant to help the entire family and their role is not just limited to the birthing parent and newborn. A doula provides physical and emotional support to parents and siblings, but they also offer information and advice regarding how to feed, bathe, swaddle, and soothe the baby.

They also often help with postpartum depression issues, and are considered child care “consultants” rather than medical professionals. Many postpartum doulas in Beavercreek, OH offer a range of services that can help with parents trying to adjust to a newborn child. These services often include:

  • Sibling care
  • Assist with household chores
  • Parent-baby bonding
  • Physical and emotional recovery
  • Support to parents and extended family

A postpartum doula in Beavercreek, OH can have a lasting positive impact on a family and help them feel more confident about their parenting role and the way that they feed and nurture their baby. They might offer advice regarding feeding, bathing, and parent-baby bonding.

It is important to note that a postpartum doula might offer advice but is not expected to provide medical care of any kind or serve as a replacement to an accredited physician. Postpartum doulas are also not qualified to prescribe medication.

Many new parents want to know about certified postpartum doulas and how exactly they are certified. Since the demand for postpartum doulas has greatly expanded in the last several years, the number of reputable postpartum doula training and certification programs has grown in Beavercreek, OH. Training criteria can differ from program to program, but most follow a similar curriculum which includes core academic curriculum and practical hours and real-life care experience.

One of the most common national postpartum doula training certifications comes from DONA International. A postpartum doula usually receives about 27 hours of practical training before they are a certified postpartum doula.

There are also CAPPA-certified postpartum doulas in Beavercreek, OH, as well. These doulas were certified by the Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association, an international organization that certifies doulas and other childbirth educators/professionals.

As a reminder, because postpartum doulas are not trained to be a medical professional and diagnose and treat medical conditions, a certification is not required for them to practice.

As their names suggest, a birth doula’s main priority is to provide support services before, during and in the moments immediately after childbirth. A postpartum doula’s obligations usually begin after the birth, for several weeks or months. In many cases, your birth doula will also be a trained and certified postpartum doula, which can provide a continuity of care that many parents find extremely valuable.

Many parents want to know whether a postpartum doula or a baby nurse would meet their needs and expectations. A baby nurse might be focused on making sure that a baby sleeps or feeds properly, but that might be the extent of their role. A postpartum doula generally offers more holistic services for their clients.

A postpartum doula in Beavercreek, OH is expected to be more involved with the family as a whole. They might remain involved in sibling care or also provide emotional support to the partner as both parents adjust to becoming new parents. This may even include support for older siblings, light housework, and even meal prep. A postpartum doula provides more physical, emotional, and informational support than a baby nurse.

You can hire two types of doulas in Beavercreek, OH: a birth doula and a postpartum doula. The birth doula is during your pregnancy and through the birth of your child. They provide you with emotional, physical and educational support during your pregnancy, your labor and delivery and for the first few hours after your child is born.

A postpartum doula will support you for the first few weeks after the baby is born. They provide in-home assistance, including teaching you how to take care of your newborn, acting as lactation consultant, and can provide some night nanny services.
