Breastfeeding Support: Providing expert guidance and assistance to ensure a successful breastfeeding journey for both mother and baby. 3. High-Risk Support: Offering tailored support and reassurance for individuals facing high-risk pregnancies, addressing their unique concerns and providing a sense of security. 4. Scheduled and Emergency C-Section Support: Providing compassionate care and advocacy during both planned and unexpected cesarean births, ensuring a positive experience. 5. With well over 20 years of experience it is safe to say I am passionate about supporting families welcoming a new family member into their lives! You deserve professional and non judgmental support throughout the childbearing year. I offer both birth and postpartum doula services. As a small child I was fascinated with all things pregnancy and baby. When I became pregnant with my own daughter in 1996 I took natural birthing classes and learned about doulas but erroneously decided to not hire one as I didn't want a "stranger" at my birth -- what a mistake! After a fairly long labor, even with the support of my partner, we realized how we should have had someone there for us, on our side, to guide us and make the experience better. We hired a postpartum doula quickly. It made me realize that if I had mistaken that doulas are strangers then other people were too. After my postpartum period and early years spent with my daughter I began my doula training in earnest. In 2000 I was trained and certified through CAPPA as a birth and postpartum doula as well a childbirth and lactation educator and I have loved it ever since. In 2014 I decided to train and certify as a HypnoDoula through Hypnobabies to better serve clients utilizing self hypnosis methods for childbirth. Since 2009 I have administrated a large online support group for those having a cesarean birth or desiring a VBAC. I love working with a range of clients from those who are low risk and choose home birth to those who have complex medical pregnancies (everyone deserves support!). As for my postpartum practice, I have served hundreds of families in the Knoxville and East TN area and have vast experience, including with multiples. This is an exciting time in your life and you deserve to have a professional by your side every step of the way!

Care philosophy

My only agenda is for you to have an enjoyable pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience. I offer experienced and professional support for all types of clients and birth preferences.

I first reached out to Kimberly in early 2020 when I found out I was pregnant with our first child. I knew I wanted a doula, but I had no idea how critical Kimberly’s care and attention would be. When my own obstetric care stopped seeing patients regularly during the early days of Covid, Kimberly was my constant. She educated me, reassured me, and most importantly, she helped me understand my options without advocating for any particular choice. I had an incredibly difficult and traumatic birth experience, and Kimberly was the only constant support (aside from my husband) during some really poor (and lack of coordination) of medical care and postpartum complications. Kimberly was so supportive in my first pregnancy that when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter in 2021, she was one of the first people I told! When, once again, Covid reared its head (this time when I tested positive when I went in to deliver), Kimberly encouraged and supported me the entire way. She even helped us as a night doula twice a week for a month or so once my husband went back to work! I can’t imagine trusting anyone else the way I trust Kimberly. For mothers – first time mothers, especially – I can’t recommend her enough!

Hello! My name is Pam Sutton and I am a certified birth and postpartum doula. I have been supporting mamas and babies for over 25 years and am passionate about it! I began my birth doula training in California in 1998 after my second daughter’s birth because the support I had around me was so incredible compared to my first birth experience, and I wanted to help other women have that same support. I also worked as a chiropractic assistant for over 20 years and learned a great deal about health and wellness. I later recertified as a birth and postpartum doula in Texas with Tiny Love Doula in 2013 and provided support to mostly birth clients, then began to focus on postpartum clients and followed up with another postpartum certification with Tiny Love Doula in 2020 as I saw the incredible need for supporting women during that 4th trimester. I also know how serious this time of a woman’s life can be as my own mother had severe postpartum depression after her 4th child, and suffered for many years. I know it is hard and it is real, and that reality has fueled my passion to provide support for other moms. In 2022 I became certified as a Lactation Specialist as I realized the significant challenges new mamas face with the lack of breastfeeding education and support. Being able to help new parents in those first few days is so critical to a successful feeding experience and I am so excited to be able to help more mamas with this! My practice includes daytime support only. I have four awesome adult children ages 21, 23, 28 and 32, a great son-in-law, and two beautiful grandchildren, 1 and 4 years old, who are the light of my life. My husband and I recently relocated to Knoxville, Tennessee after traveling the country for almost a year in our RV, bought some land and are learning homesteading, and we absolutely love it here!

Care philosophy

Postpartum is sacred and moms deserve more! My goal is to nurture and empower mothers by holding space, supporting them with care and compassion to rest, relax and restore themselves and to provide essential resources for them to learn, grow and thrive as a new mama.

Pam is our angel. Our daughter was born a month early with complications and I don’t know how we would have made it through without Pam there. I had no idea how to care for a premie and Pam is incredibly knowledgeable. She gave me the confidence I needed to care for my daughter and the help to heal from a traumatic birth. She felt like a natural addition to our family instantly and we are forever appreciative for all she has done for us.

Herbs and natural remedies have always played a major role in my life. When I wasn’t helping my mom in the garden I was sipping herbal tea over all the natural remedies books we had in the house. At a young age I was put on the birth control pill in hopes of correcting painful periods and cystic acne. This didn’t do much. I finally had enough and started searching for answers on my own. I studied and graduated as an esthetician at the G Skin and Beauty Institute in Chandler, Arizona. There I learned about organic skin care that really works and how to approach skin health in a holistic manner. My skin had improved, but I was still missing work and social events due to how much pain I was in during my periods. Still, I tried to just tough it out. That is until my husband and I decided to try for a baby and I got off the pill. I was let down very quickly when my periods were even worse than before. Determined, I continued to study everything I could about natural remedies, herbalism, aromatherapy and I was able to correct my painful, unhealthy periods and overcome fertility struggles I was dealing with. I was able to get pregnant and I now have a beautiful little boy! My passion for natural health has bloomed into helping women do the same for their health! I passionately help women correct skin issues, painful and irregular mensural cycles, fertility issues and bring a holistic approach to pregnancy as well as a meaningful and intentional healing process during the postpartum phase.

Care philosophy

Hi, I am an herbalist, fertility coach and holistic postpartum doula, and organic skincare educator. I help women find herbal remedies and natural therapies to increase fertility and have an enjoyable pregnancy and postpartum. I believe becoming a mother is a complete journey and consistent wellness will bring you comfort and joy in becoming a mother.

Emily is a nanny, family assistant, doula, yoga teacher, and momma. Originally from a tiny farm town in Texas, she was living in Colorado when she met a girl from Knoxville. Fueled by a mutual love for road trips, National Parks, and Indian food they became fast friends. After a weekend trip to Knoxville, she fell in love. Knoxville combined everything she loved about Colorado... albeit, smaller mountains... and the Southern hospitality she loved about Texas. Nine years later here she is raising a family of her own. Charles and Emily met the ‘modern way’... on the internet and are now parents to a toddler and a teenager. In addition, they care for two young adults that are just getting started in their adult lives. Emily is living with Arthrogryposis, a rare congenital disorder. As a result, Emily is creative and resourceful. She brings a unique and refreshing perspective to the care she offers. She loves empowering all parents, but especially fellow disabled parents. Having worked as a professional nanny for a number of years and now mothering her own family she knows the joys and deep challenges that come with family life.

Care philosophy

I seek to provide nonjudgmental support. My goal is to help with the business of life so you can enjoy the quality of life.

A postpartum doula in Knoxville, TN is meant to help the entire family and their role is not just limited to the birthing parent and newborn. A doula provides physical and emotional support to parents and siblings, but they also offer information and advice regarding how to feed, bathe, swaddle, and soothe the baby.

They also often help with postpartum depression issues, and are considered child care “consultants” rather than medical professionals. Many postpartum doulas in Knoxville, TN offer a range of services that can help with parents trying to adjust to a newborn child. These services often include:

  • Sibling care
  • Assist with household chores
  • Parent-baby bonding
  • Physical and emotional recovery
  • Support to parents and extended family

A postpartum doula in Knoxville, TN can have a lasting positive impact on a family and help them feel more confident about their parenting role and the way that they feed and nurture their baby. They might offer advice regarding feeding, bathing, and parent-baby bonding.

It is important to note that a postpartum doula might offer advice but is not expected to provide medical care of any kind or serve as a replacement to an accredited physician. Postpartum doulas are also not qualified to prescribe medication.

Many new parents want to know about certified postpartum doulas and how exactly they are certified. Since the demand for postpartum doulas has greatly expanded in the last several years, the number of reputable postpartum doula training and certification programs has grown in Knoxville, TN. Training criteria can differ from program to program, but most follow a similar curriculum which includes core academic curriculum and practical hours and real-life care experience.

One of the most common national postpartum doula training certifications comes from DONA International. A postpartum doula usually receives about 27 hours of practical training before they are a certified postpartum doula.

There are also CAPPA-certified postpartum doulas in Knoxville, TN, as well. These doulas were certified by the Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association, an international organization that certifies doulas and other childbirth educators/professionals.

As a reminder, because postpartum doulas are not trained to be a medical professional and diagnose and treat medical conditions, a certification is not required for them to practice.

As their names suggest, a birth doula’s main priority is to provide support services before, during and in the moments immediately after childbirth. A postpartum doula’s obligations usually begin after the birth, for several weeks or months. In many cases, your birth doula will also be a trained and certified postpartum doula, which can provide a continuity of care that many parents find extremely valuable.

Many parents want to know whether a postpartum doula or a baby nurse would meet their needs and expectations. A baby nurse might be focused on making sure that a baby sleeps or feeds properly, but that might be the extent of their role. A postpartum doula generally offers more holistic services for their clients.

A postpartum doula in Knoxville, TN is expected to be more involved with the family as a whole. They might remain involved in sibling care or also provide emotional support to the partner as both parents adjust to becoming new parents. This may even include support for older siblings, light housework, and even meal prep. A postpartum doula provides more physical, emotional, and informational support than a baby nurse.

You can hire two types of doulas in Knoxville, TN: a birth doula and a postpartum doula. The birth doula is during your pregnancy and through the birth of your child. They provide you with emotional, physical and educational support during your pregnancy, your labor and delivery and for the first few hours after your child is born.

A postpartum doula will support you for the first few weeks after the baby is born. They provide in-home assistance, including teaching you how to take care of your newborn, acting as lactation consultant, and can provide some night nanny services.
