Pam S. | Postpartum Doula in Madisonville, TN

Nurture and Empower

    Practice overview

Hello! My name is Pam Sutton and I am a certified birth and postpartum doula. I have been supporting mamas and babies for over 25 years and am passionate about it! I began my birth doula training in California in 1998 after my second daughter’s birth because the support I had around me was so incredible compared to my first birth experience, and I wanted to help other women have that same support. I also worked as a chiropractic assistant for over 20 years and learned a great deal about health and wellness. I later recertified as a birth and postpartum doula in Texas with Tiny Love Doula in 2013 and provided support to mostly birth clients, then began to focus on postpartum clients and followed up with another postpartum certification with Tiny Love Doula in 2020 as I saw the incredible need for supporting women during that 4th trimester. I also know how serious this time of a woman’s life can be as my own mother had severe postpartum depression after her 4th child, and suffered for many years. I know it is hard and it is real, and that reality has fueled my passion to provide support for other moms. In 2022 I became certified as a Lactation Specialist as I realized the significant challenges new mamas face with the lack of breastfeeding education and support. Being able to help new parents in those first few days is so critical to a successful feeding experience and I am so excited to be able to help more mamas with this! My practice includes daytime support only.
I have four awesome adult children ages 21, 23, 28 and 32, a great son-in-law, and two beautiful grandchildren, 1 and 4 years old, who are the light of my life. My husband and I recently relocated to Knoxville, Tennessee after traveling the country for almost a year in our RV, bought some land and are learning homesteading, and we absolutely love it here!

It’s honestly hard to put into words just how great Pam is! She has been the biggest blessing to our family. My toddler absolutely adores her, she is the ultimate baby whisperer for my newborn and she has been the most amazing support to me in every possible way. I can’t recommend her enough! Her support through my pregnancy and this postpartum time has been invaluable. Everything from helping me eat/sleep/heal, keeping the kids happy, getting the baby to sleep, giving advice, and being a great listener and friend. Now I just need to keep having babies so we can keep her forever! We love you Pam!

Hi, my name is Jessica Reddick and I’m a mom of a 6 year-old daughter Veronica, 3 year-old son Duncan, and newborn daughter Guinevere. I had a phenomenal experience with Pam over the course of a year after my son was born. Pam came to my house to provide over-night postpartum doula services for a few days after Duncan was born. I also worked with a few other postpartum doulas before she came and she definitely was above and beyond my expectations. Not only does she have a vast wealth of experience, but she also craves learning new things and becoming educated about the childbearing and postpartum experience. I could tell she wasn’t just there to “get me through the night” as she asked me caring questions when she arrived about how I was doing. Her concern for what she does is truly apparent. After having such an amazing experience those few nights, I asked Pam to come back when my son was a little older to help with evening shifts so that I had a second set on hands as I attempted to do “all the things” that happen at home between dinner and bedtime. She often spent time just playing with my then 2–6-month-old on the ground, encouraging his development with tummy time and engaging him vocally and visually. I was stunned. I could hardly operate under the weight on my responsibilities, and she was so present and happy to be there. It was such a gift for my whole family to have her help. Although we live far apart now, I would hire Pam again in a second!

Pam is our angel. Our daughter was born a month early with complications and I don’t know how we would have made it through without Pam there. I had no idea how to care for a premie and Pam is incredibly knowledgeable. She gave me the confidence I needed to care for my daughter and the help to heal from a traumatic birth. She felt like a natural addition to our family instantly and we are forever appreciative for all she has done for us.
