I have a background in cultural anthropology, which I taught at the college level when I traveled through conception, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum for the first time. After my son was born in 2007, my life took a turn towards my heart work, and I have been a postpartum doula in Western North Carolina since 2009. I currently serve families IN PERSON (focusing on Ayurvedic cooking for postpartum recovery and breastmilk production). I also have various ONLINE OFFERINGS including VIRTUAL COACHING for parents during the first 3 months of their baby's life, BIRTH STORY HEALING for either partner, and ONLINE COURSES for expectant couples.

Care philosophy

I believe that the 4th Trimester is too neglected in our society and I seek to elevate it through honoring the transition to parenthood, caring for the birthing parent with the wisdom of Ayurveda, teaching new parents how to understand their baby and build a stable foundation for their family.

I have worked with parents and families for over 20 years and stepped fully into the birth world in October of 2020. I love supporting families through pregnancy, birth and postpartum and am unique in that I can be a support for your family during the first 5 years after birth! In addition to doula care, I hold a Master's Degree in Early Childhood and can help parents navigate parenthood in those early years.

Care philosophy

Every woman should feel empowered to trust the natural functions of their body! I can help you self advocate for yourself during this journey and support with evidence based care and love.

I became a birth and postpartum doula in 2018 after the birth of my nephew. I also became a certified lactation consultant in 2019. I support birthing persons and their partners before, during and after birth. The support I provide includes 3-4 prenatal visits where we discuss birth preferences, education about the birth process, logistical planning around when to go to the hospital or birthing center, and more. I also help birthing people prepare for their postpartum healing and breastfeeding (if they choose to) because studies show, the more thought and planning you put into the postpartum time, the easier it is. In-labor support includes techniques and practices to ease physical, emotional, and mental discomfort during the labor process. Follow-up visits help with post-birth questions and further support, if needed. My support is non-judgmental and accepting of the birthing person's vision. I provide resources as needed and answers to questions that may come up in decision-making processes.

Care philosophy

A person's pregnancy, labor, and postpartum healing should be informed, supported, and sacred. My goal is to support pregnant people who know their boundaries and philosophy of birth. My goal is that no birthing person feels mistreated, misunderstood, or alone. Birth and postpartum is meant to be a beautiful time of strength and transformation. With the proper care team, this is possible.

“Arielle was essential in the birth of our baby. She was very responsive throughout my pregnancy (especially via text), and she often encouraged me to get in touch with her for any ache, pain, or minor worry. She is also a great research buddy and would help me look into things and send me articles from good sources. She was incredible in the hospital. My son’s birth was very intense; I was induced because of preeclampsia and went through 42 hours of labor, the induction failed, and I needed an emergency C-section. Ari slept in a chair and held my hand during some of the worst contractions. She really advocated for me with the doctors when they were skeptical of my requests–and she helped me advocate for myself.

Ari continued to be a source of support for us months after our baby arrived. She helped adjust his latch and gave me great tips about breastfeeding, and she worked with me to get our apartment organized before my return to work. We were so lucky to find her–and are so lucky to have her in our lives!”
