After the birth of my first daughter in 2013, I quickly realized that I was woefully unprepared for life with a newborn. Between the heaps of conflicting information available and sleep deprivation, my head was spinning. Thankfully a friend who is a midwife came to my home, taught me how to hand express breastmilk and how to use my pump, and *listened* to me. This experience in itself was life changing. I quickly became passionate about tearing down the obstacles that many parents face with a new baby. That same friend suggested I train to become a Postpartum Doula - a mother helper - basically. That was a decade ago. I have since worked with hundreds of families, supporting them all in their own unique way. Babymoon Doula Services was born in Jan 2023 as a fresh start for my doula practice. My priority is providing evidence-based information and nonjudgmental, compassionate care to every family I have the honor of serving. Packages are available for daytime care, overnight care, or a combination. All of my packages were designed to ensure the best start for each family by ensuring plenty of time rest, recover from birth, and bond with your baby.

Care philosophy

Elisabeth Evans

Havelock, NC

Hello my name is Elisabeth Evans,  I am 24 year old Daycare Teacher, Assistant Daycare Teacher, Youth Development Leader, Birth and CAPPA Student Postpartum Doula.  I've had a love for babies and a dream of working in childbirth, postpartum and education since I was 13 and I have been striving to make this dream a reality for the past 8 years.  When I was 17, I started working to my volunteer church as a nursery worker, working in the 0-2 class. having that young of a class was very challenging at first but further ignited my passion of family, babies, community support and education.  However, making this dream a reality has been easier said than done. I graduated High School in 2017 and hoped to enroll into my local university that fall for Nurse-Midwifery, though instead I dealt with the fallout of a physically, emotionally, mentally and sexually abusive relationship followed by 9 months of court proceedings which put a lot of my life on hold. That situation changed me but gave me a purpose and drive to be an advocate, guide and friend to those who have gone through similar things.     While going through that dark period in my life, I learned so much about myself, other women and about the nature of trauma and its impact on society. Trauma really starts from birth, so many birthing people and their babies aren't heard, supported and tenderly cared for as they need and deserve. Which causes a disconnect and turmoil from mother and baby and a disconnect from the relationship and identity a woman has with herself and that can deeply impact and negatively alter the relationship of mother and baby years after. I want to be that connecting bridge of education, care, love, support and validation.   Over the recent months of Covid-19, the rise of pregnant people who’ve had to birth, endure miscarriages and have appointments alone due to efforts of limiting the spread has created a deep wound and fear with all expecting and postpartum parents. Even after the pandemic, everyday protocol concerning large numbers of people and health hygiene are going to change for an unforeseeable extended period of time. Which will cause a generation of victimized women, parents, families and newborns. I want to change, help, teach and improve the experiences of the birthing community to the best of my ability, especially with the current circumstances of the world.

Care philosophy

Here at With Women Village, we believe birth is sacred and motherhood/parenthood is transcendent, a primal force that is to be understood, respected and kept safe. With this belief, we take a personal commitment to provide the utmost professional, inclusive, gentle and compassionate care. Through firm advocacy, education and evidence based teachings, we are here to mother the birthing person.
