Little Warrior Doula

    Practice overview

    I became a birth and postpartum doula in 2018 after the birth of my nephew. I also became a certified lactation consultant in 2019. I support birthing persons and their partners before, during and after birth. The support I provide includes 3-4 prenatal visits where we discuss birth preferences, education about the birth process, logistical planning around when to go to the hospital or birthing center, and more. I also help birthing people prepare for their postpartum healing and breastfeeding (if they choose to) because studies show, the more thought and planning you put into the postpartum time, the easier it is. In-labor support includes techniques and practices to ease physical, emotional, and mental discomfort during the labor process. Follow-up visits help with post-birth questions and further support, if needed. My support is non-judgmental and accepting of the birthing person's vision. I provide resources as needed and answers to questions that may come up in decision-making processes.

    Care philosophy

    A person's pregnancy, labor, and postpartum healing should be informed, supported, and sacred. My goal is to support pregnant people who know their boundaries and philosophy of birth. My goal is that no birthing person feels mistreated, misunderstood, or alone. Birth and postpartum is meant to be a beautiful time of strength and transformation. With the proper care team, this is possible.

    Pre-natal Lactation Consultation
    $ 75 /hr
    Learning about breastfeeding before you give birth is a way to be prepared and ready when the time comes. In this one-hour session, I will help the birthing person (partners are encouraged to join!) understand the basics of breastfeeding. Knowing the health benefits to breastfeeding and best methods of latching the baby is key to starting your breastfeeding journey. Understanding warning signs to any breastfeeding complications is also a good way to avoid common problems that occur. While I cannot diagnose tongue or lip-ties, I can help you understand when to seek support from a medical professional.

    Lactation Consultation
    $ 85 /hr
    During one's breastfeeding journey, it is common to seek support. This one-hour session will give space for the new parent and myself to assess and trouble-shoot if there are any obstacles to your breastfeeding relationship with your newborn. I will do a hands-off assessment of your breastfeeding, provide practical support, give guidance to latching techniques, and look for signs of health concerns that are common.

      Arielle was a ray of sunshine.. My wife had a long birth experince (close to 3 days). With that time frame the atmosphere can get gloomy. But Arielle was with us from beginning to end and was a ray of sunshine that brought encouragement and positivity to every minute of the 3 days. When we look back at the birth experince, we are very very happy with our experince with Arielle !

      “We loved working with Ari. She really is great. I can’t speak highly enough of her!! We have no family in the city so I was looking for someone who could be a big support for both me and my husband, like another family member. Ari was just that. She kept us confident, cheered us on every step of the way, kept us positive, and helped me go with the flow. I ended up being induced due to low amniotic fluid. Ari was there the entire time and made me feel confident even though I had all medical interventions through induction, completely counter to my birth plan. The confidence I had was due to our prenatal visits. We talked extensively about pros and cons of everything that could happen and she gave me a lot of great (short) evidence based articles to read so I went into the birth feeling prepared for anything without being overwhelmed. She was truly invaluable by giving my husband confidence to help support me in the moment. She made sure he was apart of everything, guiding us through the process. The hospital staff also loved working with her. She has a loving, positive demeanor while still being assertive. She made sure I had absolutely everything I needed. Ari was the ultimate support I was looking for in a doula. She kept us stress free so we could be ourselves and focus on what we were doing there, bringing our new baby into the world!”

      “Arielle was essential in the birth of our baby. She was very responsive throughout my pregnancy (especially via text), and she often encouraged me to get in touch with her for any ache, pain, or minor worry. She is also a great research buddy and would help me look into things and send me articles from good sources. She was incredible in the hospital. My son’s birth was very intense; I was induced because of preeclampsia and went through 42 hours of labor, the induction failed, and I needed an emergency C-section. Ari slept in a chair and held my hand during some of the worst contractions. She really advocated for me with the doctors when they were skeptical of my requests–and she helped me advocate for myself.

      Ari continued to be a source of support for us months after our baby arrived. She helped adjust his latch and gave me great tips about breastfeeding, and she worked with me to get our apartment organized before my return to work. We were so lucky to find her–and are so lucky to have her in our lives!”
