There are a lot of decisions to navigate in the journey to becoming a parent, and for some reason there was rarely a class on this growing up! We were never meant to do this alone, and you don't have to. I bring a combination of grounded clarity with expansive love into my practice and an honoured to walk with you through this initiation.

I am a yoga teacher, intuitive reader, and reiki healer. My doula support provides an array of skills that enhances not only your physical path, but nurtures the spiritual threshold experienced when giving birth. Through my personal birth journey, I developed the passion to guide other mothers/birthing people in their own unique stories. It is easy to give your power away but you hold the key in making the right decisions for yourself and your baby. If you can dig deep, sit with what comes up throughout your pregnancy, and remain open to the unexpected, you will be surprised at how much is uncovered within yourself. This realization not only supports your labor and delivery, but also sets you up for the next step into parenthood. I am with you every moment of the way, answering any questions you may have and being a listening ear that brings you back to the truth that you hold. I love watching families awaken to their own strengths and welcome their new bundle of joy with unconditional love. I believe that my work is divinely guided, authentic, and genuine. I would love to walk along side you.

Care philosophy

My goal is to align the mind, body, and soul so that you can have the birth experience you deserve. Your intuition is the driving force in cultivating your birth vision and I believe that you innately hold the power to make decisions that serve your highest outcome. I act as a guide, providing you with resources, and reminding you that this is your story. Reclaim your experience!

I, myself, have a 6 year old and 3 year old twins. My birth with my twins went a lot smoother than my first birth, even with previous trauma, because I had that extra support person - my doula. I want to help provide that support to those who need it. I provide familial/partner support, advocacy, and preservation of memory along with the physical, emotional, and informational support for the birthing person!

Care philosophy

Everyone is different and needs different things. My care philosophy is to be flexible and provide what the birthing person needs while still offering emotional, physical, and informational support.

I have worked with parents and families for over 20 years and stepped fully into the birth world in October of 2020. I love supporting families through pregnancy, birth and postpartum and am unique in that I can be a support for your family during the first 5 years after birth! In addition to doula care, I hold a Master's Degree in Early Childhood and can help parents navigate parenthood in those early years.

Care philosophy

Every woman should feel empowered to trust the natural functions of their body! I can help you self advocate for yourself during this journey and support with evidence based care and love.

I became a birth and postpartum doula in 2018 after the birth of my nephew. I also became a certified lactation consultant in 2019. I support birthing persons and their partners before, during and after birth. The support I provide includes 3-4 prenatal visits where we discuss birth preferences, education about the birth process, logistical planning around when to go to the hospital or birthing center, and more. I also help birthing people prepare for their postpartum healing and breastfeeding (if they choose to) because studies show, the more thought and planning you put into the postpartum time, the easier it is. In-labor support includes techniques and practices to ease physical, emotional, and mental discomfort during the labor process. Follow-up visits help with post-birth questions and further support, if needed. My support is non-judgmental and accepting of the birthing person's vision. I provide resources as needed and answers to questions that may come up in decision-making processes.

Care philosophy

A person's pregnancy, labor, and postpartum healing should be informed, supported, and sacred. My goal is to support pregnant people who know their boundaries and philosophy of birth. My goal is that no birthing person feels mistreated, misunderstood, or alone. Birth and postpartum is meant to be a beautiful time of strength and transformation. With the proper care team, this is possible.

“Arielle was essential in the birth of our baby. She was very responsive throughout my pregnancy (especially via text), and she often encouraged me to get in touch with her for any ache, pain, or minor worry. She is also a great research buddy and would help me look into things and send me articles from good sources. She was incredible in the hospital. My son’s birth was very intense; I was induced because of preeclampsia and went through 42 hours of labor, the induction failed, and I needed an emergency C-section. Ari slept in a chair and held my hand during some of the worst contractions. She really advocated for me with the doctors when they were skeptical of my requests–and she helped me advocate for myself.

Ari continued to be a source of support for us months after our baby arrived. She helped adjust his latch and gave me great tips about breastfeeding, and she worked with me to get our apartment organized before my return to work. We were so lucky to find her–and are so lucky to have her in our lives!”

Doula Services: FAQs

A doula is a professional that provides emotional, physical and educational support to new parents before, during, and after childbirth and into the early postpartum period. Doulas are companions who strive to give families a safe, positive, and healthy labor experience. They provide parents with evidence-based information and education on childbirth and are someone who the parent can turn to with questions and concerns about having a baby. Doulas also take an active role in collaborating with the parent to create a birth plan.

A certified birth doula offers advice and techniques to help reduce the stress that the parent often experiences during childbirth and provides you with education about different aspects of delivery and labor and what comes after.

There are two ways you can hire a doula through Meela in Asheville, NC.

The cost of a doula in Asheville, NC can range from $690 to $1,019. These costs are based on a representative group of 96 doulas surveyed by Meela across the state of North Carolina. The average cost of a doula in North Carolina is lower than the U.S. national average cost of a doula, which is $971.

When hiring a birth doula in Asheville, NC, you and your doula will discuss and agree upon a fee structure, and your doula will send you itemized invoices through Meela, which you can pay securely through the app.

Some insurance companies will cover all or part of the cost of hiring a doula. Contact your insurance company to find out if they offer any coverage for hiring a doula; not all insurance companies do.

You can hire two types of doulas in Asheville, NC: a birth doula and a postpartum doula. The birth doula is during your pregnancy and through the birth of your child. They provide you with emotional, physical and educational support during your pregnancy, your labor and delivery and for the first few hours after your child is born.

A postpartum doula will support you for the first few weeks after the baby is born. They provide in-home assistance, including teaching you how to take care of your newborn, acting as lactation consultant, and can provide some night nanny services.

Yes, a birth doula can provide support during a Cesarean birth and delivery. Doulas are non-medical professionals and do not replace obstetricians, physicians, midwives or nurses. They are an additive member to the team and provide emotional, physical and informational support to the birthing parent, partner and family. It is up to you whether the certified doula can remain in the operating room during the procedure.

When you hire a doula in Asheville, NC, your services typically include several in-person prenatal sessions, 24/7 phone and text support, full attendance throughout your labor, and several hours of support immediately following your birth.

A doula in Asheville, NC can help you in any kind of birth. Certified doulas are able to assist parents in creating the ideal “birth environment” and help parents deliver their baby safely. A doula can provide support during the birth whether it occurs in a hospital, a home, or another birth center of some kind. Doulas are there to support you in your desired birth preferences, whether that is a preference for natural, non-medicated, assisted, C-section or anything else.

Certified doulas can also act as a liaison between you and hospital staff regarding your childbirth expectations and preferences. For example, if your preference is to have a non-medicated birth, a doula can help guide you through that process and create a personalized birth plan. A certified doula in Asheville, NC does not replace medical staff (such as your obstetrician and nurses).

When a surgical procedure is required, there are some situations in which a birth doula can also remain in the operating room, although this is not an expected obligation. A certified birth doula can also assist hospital staff to improve the overall birthing experience. A doula in Asheville, NC will typically stay with the parents for several hours after birth to help them with birth recovery.

Evidence suggests that a birth doula in Asheville, NC can help improve parent satisfaction with their baby’s birth and delivery. The involvement of a doula can also lead to shorter deliveries with less complications.

Recent studies show that parents who have a support person like a doula by their side throughout labor and childbirth are more likely to:

  1. Give birth without the need for pain medicine
  2. Describe their birth experience in a positive way
  3. Give birth without the need for medical intervention, such as C-sections or vacuum delivery
  4. Experience a shorter labor

You can hire a doula early in your pregnancy to allow you time to get to know each other and to begin planning for your later trimesters, labor, birth, and aftercare. It is ideal to hire a doula when you are around 20 weeks along, but you can start looking for one before that.

It is never too late to hire a doula in Asheville, NC; you have right up to your due date to find a doula near you and receive all the benefits of doula support.

While many people think that a doula and a midwife are the same thing, their educational background and job duties are different. Doulas are non-medical professionals who provide emotional, physical and educational support, while also offering actionable advice and guidance to new parents about how to nurture their baby.

A midwife is a certified nurse-midwife (CNM) or a certified midwife (CM). CNMs are medical professionals that are certified and licensed by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. CMs are also certified, but they do not have nursing backgrounds.

Doulas are not medical professionals; they focus on the emotional support for the parents and the family before, during, and after the birth of the baby. Their job is to provide information, advice, and support to the family not diagnose any medical conditions or provide medical advice.
