    Practice overview

A postpartum doula can provide emotional support, help with breastfeeding, assist with household tasks, and offer guidance on newborn care. Having a doula can help ease the transition into motherhood and provide valuable support during this season of change.

After giving birth, it's essential to ensure that everything is running smoothly. Every family has unique needs, so we work together to find the best approach to address and fulfill those needs.

ALL packages include a 90-minute postpartum planning session. Before your baby is born your postpartum doula will meet you to plan our time together. We will talk about your vision for your postpartum care, review some options with you, and ensure you have the supplies you need on hand. And if you show us around your adorable nursery and force us to look at tiny precious baby clothes, so be it!

As a postpartum doula, I provide non-medical physical and emotional support and household assistance after the birth of your baby. I will help you with self-care recovery measures, give information on mother and baby care, birthing parent wound care, help you learn to care for and feed your new baby, a listening ear, discussion of the birth experience and the emotional transition into parenting, accompanying on outings such as; doctor appointments, weight checks, trips to the park, stores, etc, help packing the diaper bag and to get out of the house, as well as household necessities such as light house keeping, laundry, meal prep, sibling and pet support and care. caring for pets. As add-on services I will provide, grocery shopping, breastfeeding consultation, postpartum yoga/meditation, and baby-wearing education (including carrier rentals).

My goal as your postpartum doula is to ease the transition with your new baby and all this entails.

I offer in-home care, text and phone support, and resources for everything from pumping to local yoga studios, parenting concerns, etc. As your doula, I will meet your family where you are at and adjust their care to meet your needs.

I recommend Shiya to all of my clients for breastfeeding and postpartum support. They love that she responds immediately and can even do a virtual meeting when it is late at night and a mom needs help immediately. Or the mom does not need to go to her pediatricians office but Shiya can come to the moms home where she is comfortable and and relaxed. Shiya has breastfed her boys and believes in helping other moms achieve the same. She is patient, kind and caring. And takes pride in what she does.

I don’t know how I would have gotten through my first month post partum without Shiya. I couldn’t be more grateful for her support, this was our first baby and we had no idea what we were doing. Shiya came just a few minutes after we came home from the hospital to help me. She helped teach me how to breastfeed. I sent her pictures and videos at all times of the day and night (including from the hospital) and she always responded immediately and reassured me that my baby was being fed while giving me
Helpful tips. She taught me how to do weighted feeds, use a carrier, take an Uber, give my baby a bath and cut nails, deal with blow outs and so much more. Having her around gave me the confidence that I could be a good mother and that I was doing the right thing for my baby. She cares so much about her clients and to be honest I think of her now as a member of the family. I will never forget the support she provided me. I couldn’t recommend using shiya more to new moms so that they can enter into motherhood confident and in control! Shiya also helped me so much with other things to make my life easy as I transitioned to being a mom like meal prep laundry etc. I’m happy to be a reference for her to anyone who needs more info. Thank you shiya for all you did for us

Shiya was incredibly helpful to me and my family. During the transition to parenthood she offered guidance and also supported a difficult start to breastfeeding which then led to success.
