Practice overview
I believe pregnancy and birth is a journey to motherhood. We find strength we didn't know we had, which prepares us for the challenges and joys of motherhood. The art of being a doula to women has been a part of my life for the past twenty years. I received my training by DONA, and then subsequently moved to England. While in England I had the privilege of being counseled by Sheila Kitzinger and have taken classes from Penny Simpkin. Both of these ladies are foundational to the doula movement. My experience has been broad and diverse. I have worked in a teenage pregnancy home, birth adoption, helped international couples, V-bac, natural twins, natural breech, and a cancer survivor. Personally, I am a mother to four boys. Each of my births gave me a new experience to draw from. I have had one hospital birth (33 hours) and three home births (1.5 hours, 20 mins., and 3 hours).
