I started my journey in 2013 as a Hypnobirthing doula and in 2014 added postpartum work to my toolkit. I am also a lactation counselor working toward my IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant). I have worked with hundreds of families helping them in their journey as new parents and as seasoned parents welcoming a new member to their family. I am also a Yoga Therapist and Reiki Practitioner. I focus on pelvic floor and help to slowly bring the birthing parent's back to strength so that they can create a self-care routine while caring for their newborn.

Care philosophy

To create a non-judgemental, stress-free and mindful journey as a parent. With lactation support, self-care support, and patience, every parent will come to enjoy the newborn phase as a rested and productive parent.

I serve all family structures by offering safe, continuous, informative, and caring support as they begin or expand their family. I am a trained birth and postpartum doula. I offer three continuous layers of support: prenatal, birth, and postpartum care. I provide wisdom, guidance, advocacy, and support throughout pregnancy and birth. As a birth doula, I offer unconditional, non-judgmental support and encouragement to the laboring woman, her partner and/or family throughout labor, delivery, and after childbirth. After baby arrives, my clients can rely on me during those crucial first moments as a family. I take care of household duties, diaper changes, and soothing baby so the family can get some much-needed rest. I provide information on sleep, feeding, infant care, and any other questions the family has, so they can feel confident in how to care for your baby.

Care philosophy

Over the years I discovered that becoming a parent does not mean you have arrived; it means your journey is just beginning. I believe a parent is always evolving. My children are grown now; however, I continue to learn from them every day. Parenting is beautiful and complex. I welcome the opportunity to help others begin the wonderful journey into parenthood.

Tamara is such a caring individual and was an amazing doula. Having Tamara support us as our postpartum doula was one of the best decisions we made. My husband and I, to this day, do not know how we would have done it without her help – notably during the first few weeks when we, as new parents, had no idea what was going on or what was “normal.”

Tamara is very knowledgeable, and in addition to her education and training, draws on experience with many families and her doula community to help answer questions and advise on anything from how to bathe your baby, breastfeeding, diapering your baby, to how to handle a fussy baby who doesn’t want to be consoled. She also helped with household duties such as, dishes, meal prep, and laundry.

Tamara responds quickly if you text her with a question or concern. She always has a positive attitude and is so easygoing. She proactively suggests what she can help with if you’re too overwhelmed to even figure out what could be helpful.

Her support to me as a new mom experiencing all the emotions was very patient and understanding. I always felt like I could talk to her without judgement, which was so important. After Tamara completed her time with us, she left us a gift package, which we absolutely cherish

We would highly recommend Tamara to anyone!

I am eager to educate and give so much knowledge to this massive and ever growing community. Postpartum has a lot of taboo surrounding it's name, and I want to be the one to not make it taboo, as well as I can. As a postpartum doula I do not attend births as a doula.

Care philosophy

I have been in the birth and postpartum world for a few years now, and I have seen the 4th trimester dreaded in many ways. I want to encourage new or even seasoned parents to welcome postpartum or the "4th trimester". Let's welcome it and set ourselves up for success by doing so!

One of the core values of my offerings is to create safe containers where spiritually sovereign beings do not have to second guess their options, hide using coded language, act out rigid mannerisms, or inauthentic behaviors. Instead, I want my clients to find tangible value in learning how to continue identifying their own personal power. Moments of Magick provides healing & support services to guide women & families through the spiritual understanding of wellness, especially during pregnancy, childbirth & caretaking. Since childhood, I actualized my psionic ability to communicate with energy, animals, the unborn, the departed & archetypal spirits. I am a divine birthkeeper & a wise woman who uses various indigenous practices, works, healing methods, psychologies & wholistic understandings to generate safe energetic containers for optimal transformations & integrations to take place. This has been a life long process.

Care philosophy

I am passionate about sharing tools, resources, & information to women & supporters of women, including and especially, indigenous families, regarding fetal imprinting, wholistic pregnancy, childbirth & labor preparation, ancestral postpartum care, female reproductive care, & more. My offering is transcendence of 'suffering' through the awareness of conscious decision making.

I had the pleasure of working with Mamata doing reiki sessions, perinatal and birth. This was my first time working with a Doula and I’m so happy that I did. I admire her extraordinary talent and skills in being and creating a beautiful and magical experience for me and my family. She guided me through indescribable pain and lack of sleep with ease. She advised me of everything to make things better. Her knowledge about pain and delivery was apparent and quite helpful. She checked on me constantly, gave me so much knowledge and videos that were truly insightful to this birth. She has such a soothing voice and demeanor, the comfort she provided helped my labor progress in the most positive way. She helped me with guided exercises balancing labor and rest. I would’ve lost my mind if she wasn’t present. She went above and beyond to support me and my husband emotionally in such a vulnerable time and I cannot thank her enough. Thank you so much Mamata

As your doula, it is my passion to fuel the fire that is already inside of you. I wish to achieve this by educating, advocating, & cheering you on through all stages of your pregnancy, birth, and parenthood. I fiercely stand by the notion that every birth is beautiful & everyone is worthy of positive, empowering birth. I am here to meet you exactly where you are. As early as I can remember, I knew my future career would include healthcare, babies, or a mix of both. I also knew that I wanted to work intimately with people and utilize my empathy. It wasn't until my stretch of nursing in hospice that my desire to dive into doula work was solidified. In my position, I felt like I was getting away from the initial draw I had coming into a healthcare provider job - it was structured to be impersonal. I realized there is a missing piece for so many people going through life-altering events; especially birth. I whole-heartedly believe the system needs to restructure around the whole human condition and be people facing at the core level. I am humbled to be apart of the change, because everyone deserves a doula.

Care philosophy

Birth is a life-changing experience that reshapes our being. As your doula, I will be there to guide you, empower you, and support you through the journey you are about to embark upon.

As a doula, I deeply care about pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. My doula journey started when I had my son at 24 years old and continued to grow. I have adored being a mother and having support from my husband, friends, and family has been huge as I navigated pregnancy, birth, and raising children. After becoming a mom, I became infatuated with everything surrounding birth and how providing personalized care can really have a positive impact on the mother's mental health and well-being. Being beside her every step of the way before and after birth, and caring for her precious newborn and family is what helps moms feel safe, cherished, and important.

Care philosophy

The care I provide is steeped in understanding of what the physical body and mental mind goes through and needs during the beautiful complex of pregnancy and labor. I provide a calming atmosphere of knowledge of different positions to try and helpful tricks to let you have the most fulfilling pregnancy and birth that you desire.

Abby was wonderful and I would absolutely recommend her! My husband and I hired her as our doula for the birth of our first son. Abby coached me through 8 hours of contractions with Pitocin and no epidural. After 8 hours and barely progressing, I finally got the epidural which Abby helped me through as I was nervous to get it. Then, after several more hours, Abby was there to help me push along with the nurses and doctors. Baby boy was stuck at zero station, which lead to an emergency C-section. After 48 hrs of labor we finally got to meet him. Abby was with us every step of the way. She was so kind, compassionate and knowledgeable. We will definitely be calling her when we have our 2nd!

My family has always been very supportive of my career, and it was actually my mother who advised me to take a doula class after I graduated. I began working as a medical assistant at an OB-GYN clinic where I learned so much about patient care that I still use today but I wanted to help my patients more than my scope of practice would allow. When my mother saw how much I was missing she advised me to begin my journey of becoming a doula and it has been the most wonderful journey of my life.

Care philosophy

Doula work is about birth, yes. But for me, the fact that birth happens is secondary to the fact that there is a person in front of me who has asked me to listen to and care for them.

My name is Emily and I am the birth doula and owner behind Radiant Birth And Wellness. From a young age I had always wanted to be an OB/GYN, helping to empower women with their health and improve trauma-informed care. Throughout life’s twists and turns, I found that my heart was being pulled in a direction longing for deeper emotional connections that would be lost as a physician. So, I found myself working in perinatal research, asking women to donate their placentas for science. It was through this experience that I fell into doula work, already coaching women through contractions and sharing information in between talking about research. In the summer of 2022, I took my doula training with DONA international and decided to dive head first into my birth doula business. Now instead of interrupting labor for science, I protect this space merging my passion for medicine, human connection, and my desire to impact families in meaningful ways. As a birth doula, I pull from my experiences as an EMT, medical advocate, researcher, and empath. I use tools such as hypnobirthing, massage, movement, aromatherapy, and much more to support you through labor and achieve the birth you desire. Working with me you will feel confident, prepared, and filled with joy to experience birth in all its magical and unpredictable ways. I am here for you and your partner, encouraging them, advocating for you both, and making sure you are at the center of every decision. My hope is that you feel radiant knowing that you are surrounded with love, compassion, and knowledgeable support.

Care philosophy

Bringing joy and mindfulness to each and every birthing space! My goal is to make you feel RADIANT with confidence, love, and individualized care. Together, we will demystify birth, prepare you for the journey of labor, and eliminate any fears you have. Supporting your strengths, empowering you with evidence based information, and honoring your decisions for YOUR birth is what I do best.

I had always dreamed of an unmedicated birth but still wanted to be in a hospital setting to help ease anxiety about the unknown. Emily fully supported this desire and gave me the confidence to advocate for my birth plan and make it a reality! As soon as I started feeling contractions Emily was there. She was extremely responsive and super helpful when we needed assistance navigating the first challenge-determining when to go to the hospital. Once there my husband and I remained in close contact with her about my progress. She helped us talk through some tough decisions after it was recommended we go home to continue laboring until I was further along. Fortunately, I did not end up having to leave the hospital and Emily arrived shortly after when my contractions got more intense. She came prepared with essential oils, snacks, pillows, and more. As soon as she entered the room my husband and I felt comforted and energized through her kindness and positivity. She has a way of reading the emotion in the room and knowing how to best work with it. As the laboring became more intense, her expertise shined. She was able to recommend different positions utilizing things like the birthing ball, rebozo technique, and the bath tub. She helped ease any worries that arose and she was there every step of the way as we welcomed our baby boy into the world! We can’t thank her enough for her encouragement, positivity, and care! We could not have done it without her.

Hello! As a Full Spectrum Birthworker, I provide support for the full spectrum of pregnancy outcomes. I strongly believe everyone deserves to be supported and seen, no matter what their choice or the outcome is! I truly believe you know more about what you are feeling in your body and what your body needs more than anyone. I am here to affirm your intuition, provide evidence-informed resources, and help you advocate for your needs! For as long as I can remember, I have been interested in birth, understanding how our bodies transform throughout our lives, and how to support people through these changes. For most of my childhood up until my junior year in college, I thought I wanted to be an OB/GYN. I first heard about doulas while working at a daycare in college. After reading more about the role of doulas, a seed was planted and I started to think that being a Birthworker aligned with the type of care and support I wanted to provide for people. But didn’t end up taking the leap until early 2022!  I also have a biology background and have worked as an immunology researcher for the past 5 years working on a HIV and aging study and a Phase I HIV vaccine clinical trial at UNC-Chapel Hill. In the past year, I have also worked on projects regarding HIV and the microbiome, a COVID-19 antibody study, and a T1D study. I love geeking out about the immune system, and all things microbiome, and learning all of the ways to apply this knowledge for reproductive support!  I carry with me a personal understanding of how systems of oppression, social structures, and personal triggers can have an impact on your reproductive health and journey. My practice is rooted in Liberation and Reproductive Justice for all, trauma-informed care, anti-oppression, Queer and Trans-affirming care, decolonial futures, and helping others build community networks. I love going to restaurants and trying new food, chillin in nature, and spending time with my partner Jypsy, our 5-year-old Foxhound mix Otis, and 2-year-old orange Tabby Leo! I also love gardening and caring for plants (we have 55!), laughing and sharing a meal with friends, and listening to music/making playlists! I really look forward to meeting and talking with you about how I can help you on your journey!

Care philosophy

The support I offer is grounded in an understanding that you know more about what you are feeling in your body than anyone. From birth to the postpartum journey, everyone's needs are unique. I am here to help support you on your transformative journey!

Growing up in a big family, I saw birth firsthand and grew to love it, in all its forms. Now as a mother myself, I’ve learned the importance of advocating for oneself to find the birth plan that works for you. I began my education in the birth world a year ago, and have served families in Colorado and Washington. I serve families in hospitals, birth centers and at home. I’ve also assisted in the birth classes offered at Whatcom Pregnancy Clinic, educating women and their partners on the tools available to ease and enhance their labor and birth. I am currently taking new clients through the new year. Hope to hear from you soon!

Care philosophy

I strive to assist mothers in their journey through pregnancy and birth, with an evidence based approach. It is my belief that birth should be centered around the mother’s voice, and that her support team is there to lift her where she needs and step back when she asks. In every birth I’ve been to I’ve learned from the strength that is found in birth.

Rebekah was AMAZING!!! I honestly can’t say enough good things. I hired her super short notice like literally 2 weeks before I gave birth and she was able to make it work still. She was so great throughout my entire labor. She stayed with me at the hospital (and stayed awake to comfort me even if I was dozing off) the entire labor. She did counter pressure. She talked me through everything. She was an advocate to the hospital staff for me. She came over to my house a few days after giving birth and brought us some delicious homemade soup and rice. She was so caring, non judgmental, and easy going. I could keep going on and on about how great she was but bottom line is I don’t know how I would have made it through with out her. HIGHLY recommend!

Linnell is a great doula! We used her for the first few weeks after our second came home as well as invited her on a family trip. She came over and supported us during the baby’s witching hour to allow us time to give our undivided attention to our oldest as we transitioned to a family of four. Those first few weeks were hard on her and being able to have bedtime just with both parents was priceless. She also helped with overnight feedings and sleep to allow my husband and me some much-needed rest. On our family trip, she spent 27/4 with us for 4 days. She helped us with everything. I trusted her which allowed us to truly enjoy our vacation 100%. She has so much knowledge from prior experience and school that she shares when needed but also listens without judgment to what choices we as parents want for our baby. She is respectful, empathetic, caring, and patient. I would recommend her services to anyone!

The Doula Circle is a full circle collective providing preconception, birth, postpartum support, and more! We provide photography services, multiple classes, lactation support, nutrition coaching, placenta encapsulation, and have an office in Old Colorado City in Colorado Springs. I became a doula in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic. My long time friend (and owner of the doula collective I am with) was encouraging me to become a doula for years. We met when we were both surrogates, at a support group for our surrogacy agency. We bonded over birth and she urged me to consider becoming a doula with my experience, knowledge, and love for the birth world. At the time, I was in nursing school and managing a restaurant. I expected to become a labor and delivery nurse and maintain a clinical role; however, when COVID-19 shut down the restaurant I managed, I needed brain stimulation, and decided to pursue a doula certification. I discovered, after almost a decade of on and off clinical roles, my heart and skills belonged in a support role, and I absolutely adore what I do!

Care philosophy

Women and birthing individuals have the inherent intuition and wisdom needed for birth. It is a completely normal physiological, yet incredibly spiritual, experience that we are intended for. Each birth is different, but I support my clients in any way they need, in any birth setting, through judgement-free tranquility and compassion.

Nurturing mindful and empowering birth experiences for holistically-minded families in Colorado and beyond

Care philosophy

I believe that birth is natural, normal and that our bodies are primed for it. It's a right of passage and a sacred time to tune into the body! That being said, birth is unpredictable and I aim to educate my clients about the numerous possibilities that could take place. My primary goal is to reduce fear and create safe, peaceful environments for the transition from womb to world.

My husband and I enlisted Ali’s services for the birth of our second daughter after our previous doula moved out of state.
Ali is very personable and knowledgeable. The services she provides are the perfect mix of scientifically based information and holistic medicine. Her Reiki and Reflexology treatment during my pregnancy were an amazing treat.
During my delivery she was essential in keeping my husband and I calm and grounded. Delivering during a pandemic meant I could not have the same amount of people as my first delivery, I had 5 (!) support people the first time around, and Ali made it feel like I had the expect same level of support.
Ali met us at the hospital right as my contractions began intensifying after my induction. She helped me breath through the first and second stages of labor, rubbing my lower back, and reminding me to relax my face.
Her calm demeanor and expertise are a must in any doula, plus her lactation cookies were delicious!
    15/10 would recommend.

Carley, at Mother Magic Doula, has been such a help and bright light throughout my entire pregnancy. To begin, Carley has such a beautiful and caring spirit. You feel and know with each conversation and consultation you have with her that she cares and is answering your questions or concerns with so much knowledge, thought, and love. Carley has helped my partner and I develop and create a birth plan we are comfortable and knowledgeable with to welcome our baby into this world. She carefully walked me through each step of a birth plan so my partner and I could make the best informed decision. Thanks to her, we feel as prepared as we can be for a situation that is hard to plan for. Thank you Carley for your knowledge and love!

I am very passionate about doulas being a game changer in labor. With my second I had amazing doula support which I strongly feel empowered me to have the unmedicated birth I had longed for. I was initially drawn to this work due to that experience and truly feel I have found my calling in birth support. I am a very empathetic person who is highly motivated to help parents find confidence and joy in their birth experience whatever their goal or plans might be. I am constantly rewarded by being able to encourage and empower new parents to work through their anxieties and fears to allow them to focus on the joy and excitement of labor, birth and beyond. I also love being able to see the relationship and interactions between partners during birth. A big part of what I do is encouraging that dynamic and making it work for us during labor.

Care philosophy

I am truly a people person and delight in what I do! I love being part of the miracle that is pregnancy and birth. My eyes still well up with happy tears at each birth I attend. I love making connections with people. It is such a blessing to help families have a bit less stress or fear in their journey into parenthood. I work to meet families where they are and give them the confidence to succeed.

"It would be a valiant effort to ask your partner to guide you up Mount Everest, but it is wise to hire a Sherpa. In comparison, to guide you up Birth Mountain, it is wise to hire a Doula." > LIZ FOSTER, DOULA & COACH < Pregnancy puts you on the threshold of a great rite of passage. To progress from "here" to "there" without getting lost, you need a guide and a map. "I am inspired by the way birth transforms a person from Maiden to Mother. It astounds me every time! When I walk into a room with a laboring woman, my heart jumps for joy at the opportunity to comfort her in that present moment, on her journey into motherhood." The keys to a joyful birthing experience are safety, security, preparation, support, and a calm mindset, all planned in advance, to be by your side for anything that should arise. My aim is to activate these pillars of power in you and to embrace what is out of our control, the unpredictability. In choosing me as your doula, I do not judge the way you decide to labor (unmedicated, medicated, or cesarean). I respect your space by holding it with the utmost care. It is my highest honor to serve women in one of the most splendid moments of their lives!

Care philosophy

Hey mama! My name is Liz Foster and I am obsessed with making positive birth and postpartum experiences an outstanding norm for all. I was awakened to birth and parenthood when I birthed my son via emergency cesarean as a single mom. Never again do I want a mother to feel the fear I felt during pregnancy and birth, due to the weight of every little change and life decision.

I believe that commitment to the present, nature + self-love will give us the foundation for all that we need. I also STAND FOR & SERVE ALL BIRTHS! Woman's birth, BLACK BIRTH , LGBTQ+, and surrogate. PLEASE NOTE: I TRY to refrain from using "Mom, Mama, Mother, woman" terms only. To prove that all birth IS REAL BIRTH and all birthing human's matter! ? I am a Colorado-bred woman, passionate birth worker, Mother, and licensed esthetician. I have a unique drive to serve my clients to give them the beautiful, carefully planned, and cared for childbirth experience they have always dreamt of. Every birthing human has her own idea for her birth plan. I aim to customize every aspect of our time together, and even a little while after your baby (or babies!) is/are earthside! Some birthing humans desire to give in to their primal instincts and roar with each contraction and to give birth at home or outside. Some birthing humans prefer to deliver in the hospital or birthing center, with fairy lights and music. And some birthing humans want a combination. The possibilities are endless for your birth. I cannot wait to help make them real for you! To conclude, I have been passionate about birth and empowering women to have a positive experience, as they see it, ever since I gave birth to my son 10 years ago now. Most importantly, my support comes without opinions or judgment. I understand that you will make the best choices for your family and I am honored to be by your side as you do. After working together, I promise that you can settle into your life with a newborn knowing you have built a solid support system with me. I am looking forward to being part of your birthing team! Dakota is a Certified Birth Doula, Full-Spectrum Doula (birth, postpartum, miscarriage, termination and loss), Placenta Encapsulation Specialist and Ceremonialist living in Lyons, Colorado. She is also a student midwife who occasionally assists a home-birth midwife in the Boulder area and provides an assortment of other offerings for the childbearing continuum like Childbirth Education, Belly Binding, Council Circles and Mother/Parent Roasting, etc. Avidly studying birth since 2010, Dakota has always known that this was her “calling”. Through her years of doula and midwifery training in Bali, North Carolina, Vermont and Colorado, she deeply understands the importance of families feeling educated and empowered during their birthing experience and the impact that can have on the newborn child’s life, the family unit as a whole and the wider community. Dakota fiercely advocates for her clients in all birth settings and holds a larger vision of birth as a transformative Rite of Passage. She is passionate about holding space for clients who are interested in bringing more intention and sacredness to their birthing journey through a variety of ceremonial offerings (mother/parent honoring ceremonies, yoni steaming and sealing ceremonies, to list just a few). Dakota is also one of the founding members of The Mother’s Center in Boulder (www.themotherscenter.org). There, she holds donation-based council circles for pregnant and postpartum people in the community, as well as an assortment of other offerings like Kirtan (devotional chanting), meditation, community potlucks and many different types of workshops and ceremonies. When she is not at a birth or holding space at The Mother’s Center, you can find Dakota soaking in natural hot springs around the state, dancing the 5-Rhythms, sitting in women’s circles and probably using way too much ghee when cooking!

Care philosophy

"Matrescence" (according to anthropologist Dana Rafael) is the birth of a Mother/Parent. The Rite of Passage. It is with love and presence that I hold your hand during this Sacred Transition. And I honor your personal story. Each transition into parenthood is unique. Whatever the outcome of your pregnancy, I am here with you. I will advocate for and support *your* choice and *your* intuition.

As a birth doula I am here to support you before, during and after baby's birthday. I will be providing you with resources throughout your journey to make informed decisions. We will have two prenatal meetings and during those meetings we will go over your birth wishes. We will discuss the benefits & risks of each choice you have, discuss what could happen, practice comfort measures including: rebozo work, counter-pressure, pelvic release, hip squeezes, positions to encourage baby's descent & anterior position and open your pelvis by 25% more. We will discuss how you can best prepare yourself for immediately after the birth of your child(ren). I will be with you at the onset of active labor and all the way through to 1-2 hours postpartum. I am there as well to take the primary support role so your partner can take a rest, nap, grab fresh air, eat, etc. More importantly, I am there to enhance our partner's role and so they do not have to remember everything you both learned during childbirth classes. If you wish to breastfeed I am there to help support a good first latch as I am trained in breastfeeding basics. During the baby's birth story I will be taking notes so we can discuss your story during postpartum. You will have 1-2 postpartum meetings to go over your birth story, support breastfeeding if you wish and to answer any newborn care questions. As your postpartum doula, I support the whole family as you adjust to welcoming baby/babies into your life. I will: -Nurture your family with loving hands and heart to meet you exactly where you are, offering non-judgmental support. -Educate your family by modeling behavior, observing and offering options. -Assess the environment constantly in order to best assist you and your family. -Refer you to resources and referrals, and assist you with the skills to seek out resources and referrals. I will care for your family during the first three months, by providing you with non-medical support and companionship. I will assist with newborn care & sibling adjustment (includes furry siblings), meal prep, household organization, offer evidence based information on infant feeding, emotional & physical recovery from childbirth and other issues related to the postpartum period.

Care philosophy

My desire as a doula is to support you in a way that allows and encourages your birth wishes to be achieved. I will provide support physically, emotionally, spiritually (for some) and provide you with resources so you can make informed decisions. Once baby(s) arrive I will nurture you as parent(s) and respect your parenting style to best support you during postpartum.

I started as a birth doula in 2001. I have supported over 200 families at the birth of their child and as they provide surrogate services. I am certified through three professional doula training organizations, and trained through a fourth organization. I am certified as a birth doula, a postpartum doula, a placenta encapsulation specialist, and a childbirth educator. One of my birth certifications is specialized as a Birth and Bereavement Doula. My strengths are in my experience, and in my ability to attune to the very individual needs of the birthing person, and bringing a sense of calm to the birth space.

Care philosophy

I am an experienced, trained & certified birth professional; birth doula services, postpartum doula services, placenta encapsulation, childbirth classes & birth pool rentals. I support hospital births, home births and birth center births with a medical professional (midwife or physician) present. Your birth, your baby, your voice, your choice.

A postpartum doula in Broomfield, CO is meant to help the entire family and their role is not just limited to the birthing parent and newborn. A doula provides physical and emotional support to parents and siblings, but they also offer information and advice regarding how to feed, bathe, swaddle, and soothe the baby.

They also often help with postpartum depression issues, and are considered child care “consultants” rather than medical professionals. Many postpartum doulas in Broomfield, CO offer a range of services that can help with parents trying to adjust to a newborn child. These services often include:

  • Sibling care
  • Assist with household chores
  • Parent-baby bonding
  • Physical and emotional recovery
  • Support to parents and extended family

A postpartum doula in Broomfield, CO can have a lasting positive impact on a family and help them feel more confident about their parenting role and the way that they feed and nurture their baby. They might offer advice regarding feeding, bathing, and parent-baby bonding.

It is important to note that a postpartum doula might offer advice but is not expected to provide medical care of any kind or serve as a replacement to an accredited physician. Postpartum doulas are also not qualified to prescribe medication.

Many new parents want to know about certified postpartum doulas and how exactly they are certified. Since the demand for postpartum doulas has greatly expanded in the last several years, the number of reputable postpartum doula training and certification programs has grown in Broomfield, CO. Training criteria can differ from program to program, but most follow a similar curriculum which includes core academic curriculum and practical hours and real-life care experience.

One of the most common national postpartum doula training certifications comes from DONA International. A postpartum doula usually receives about 27 hours of practical training before they are a certified postpartum doula.

There are also CAPPA-certified postpartum doulas in Broomfield, CO, as well. These doulas were certified by the Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association, an international organization that certifies doulas and other childbirth educators/professionals.

As a reminder, because postpartum doulas are not trained to be a medical professional and diagnose and treat medical conditions, a certification is not required for them to practice.

As their names suggest, a birth doula’s main priority is to provide support services before, during and in the moments immediately after childbirth. A postpartum doula’s obligations usually begin after the birth, for several weeks or months. In many cases, your birth doula will also be a trained and certified postpartum doula, which can provide a continuity of care that many parents find extremely valuable.

Many parents want to know whether a postpartum doula or a baby nurse would meet their needs and expectations. A baby nurse might be focused on making sure that a baby sleeps or feeds properly, but that might be the extent of their role. A postpartum doula generally offers more holistic services for their clients.

A postpartum doula in Broomfield, CO is expected to be more involved with the family as a whole. They might remain involved in sibling care or also provide emotional support to the partner as both parents adjust to becoming new parents. This may even include support for older siblings, light housework, and even meal prep. A postpartum doula provides more physical, emotional, and informational support than a baby nurse.

You can hire two types of doulas in Broomfield, CO: a birth doula and a postpartum doula. The birth doula is during your pregnancy and through the birth of your child. They provide you with emotional, physical and educational support during your pregnancy, your labor and delivery and for the first few hours after your child is born.

A postpartum doula will support you for the first few weeks after the baby is born. They provide in-home assistance, including teaching you how to take care of your newborn, acting as lactation consultant, and can provide some night nanny services.
