Practice overview
I have been a doula for over 11 years and have served more than 270 families, some of them multiple times. I became a doula to create positive birth memories for parents. To help parents understand what to expect and rid them of the misconceptions and fears. To relieve the unfair amount of pressure put on Moms and Dads through this process focused maternity journey. To eliminate unnecessary interventions and re-enforcing informed consent. Birth is not "ABC", let a doula help. The more people who know and learn about doulas, the bigger impact we can make on positive maternal and baby outcomes in the world of birth.

From the moment I found out I was pregnant, to days after my daughter was born, she provided the best support. As a first time mom, naturally, I was nervous about pregnancy, birth, and everything in between. Shelby truly cares about what she does and every mom, dad, and baby she is able to interact with. One of my favorite parts of working with Shelby is the way she advocated for me during labor. It was a big deal to me that my husband and I could focus on bringing our baby into the world, while Shelby made sure we had everything we needed or wanted whether it be a ball to bounce on, ice to snack on, bone broth, popsicles, water, etc. She made sure we had everything we needed from the hospital and even brought her own supplies! She was so prepared and I didn’t have to worry about a thing. Even my husband said he wouldn’t know what to do if she wasn’t there. She not only coached me but coached my partner as well so he could provide the best support to me. She is so knowleadgable on everything, I can genuinely say I had SUCH an enjoyable labor and delivery. My friends think I’m crazy when I say that, but I give all of the credit to having a DOULA by my side, and Shelby specifically. You won’t regret having her alongside you during the crazy and wonderful journey of becoming a parent.

She helped with questions and concerns I had, no matter when or what time of the day. She talked to my partner and even made sure to understand his perspective of birth and help educate him on ways to help me before during and after. I felt confident because my plans and ideas were discussed beforehand. During labor, she helped me with multiple positions to gain comfort while helping me understand the process my body was going through. Every discussion with doctors felt easy and empowering as she was by my side to explain things to me in ways I would understand. She was very educated and gave me the information I needed to make decisions in my birth that I was comfortable with. The main thing was that she took time to know me so that she would know how to communicate with me in my most vulnerable state. She knew how to read me and understand my concerns and my emotions even when I could not find the ways to voice them myself. My birth was done how I wanted and she supported me the whole time. Shelby truly was a gift and I don’t know how else to explain it other than she knew what I needed and delivered and I am forever grateful.

I wanted to avoid all interventions and experience the most natural birth possible, while keeping my health and baby’s health absolute priority. Although the birth experience didn’t go exactly as we had hoped, Shelby provided support and love throughout the process. Before labor and delivery, she was available at any time of day to answer my questions. During labor and delivery, Shelby helped me find the most comfortable positions, provided massage, and coached my husband so that he was able to support me even better than he already was. Shelby provided us with a birth story a few days later with details about my son’s birth that I will forever cherish. I highly recommend Shelby to any mom hoping for a natural birth and to any couple that seeks the excellent care and the unwavering love and support that Shelby demonstrated during my birth experience.
