Small Things, Great Love Birth Services

    Practice overview

    The name of my business comes from a quote attributed to Mother Theresa: "We cannot all do great things, but we can all do small things with great love." The postpartum period is filled with moments like this. Thousands of small actions, acting with love and care over and over. All of my services are available to grieving parents on a pay-what-you-can basis

    Each family will have different goals, preferences, and needs after the birth of a child (whatever the outcome), and the services I provide reflect that. You can choose between virtual consultations and in-person doula support, as well as scheduling from one day of care to months! I have experience with preemies, cloth diapering, baby wearing, and more! I am a NICU mom with 2 kids, and I am vaccinated and boosted against COVID.

    Care philosophy

    I believe that holistic support for the entire family, not just physical care of the baby, is vital during the postpartum period. I have deep respect for both traditional knowledge and modern science, and I utilize both. My goal is not to tell you how to parent, but rather provide resources and walk with you as you move through this life-changing experience.

    Postpartum Consultation
    $ 40 /hr
    Schedule a one-hour meeting with me either before or after baby arrives. During a prenatal visit, we can discuss your options, evaluate your families needs and goals, and answer any questions you may have so you enter into early parenthood feeling prepared and grounded. Meetings during the "fourth trimester" typically cover topics like nursing issues, provider recommendations, meal suggestions, recovery questions, and more! This services includes access to my library of digital resources.

    Daytime Postpartum Support
    $ 25 /hr
    During, the "fourth trimester", the whole family needs some extra care and nurturing. This includes in-home care between 6am and 6pm with a 3 hour minimum per shift. You can schedule as little as one visit (shortly after baby is born, for example), or you may schedule recurring shifts. Each visit will be unique as needs change, but they may include troubleshooting nursing, light housework, caring for baby while parents nap/shower, feeding/diapering baby, assistance with babywearing or cloth diapering, meal prep, supporting healing after birth, connecting families to community resources, and more. You will also have access to my library of digital resources.

    Overnight Postpartum Support
    $ 35 /hr
    We all know new parents could use some more sleep! With a minimum of 8 hours per shift, overnight care is between 6pm and 6am. You can schedule a single overnight shift or set up regular visits. During these shifts, my services include things like supporting sleep for the whole household, assisting with feeding/diapering baby, making a nourishing breakfast, and preparing the house for the next day. You will also have access to my library of digital resources.

    Unlimited Text/Email Support
    $ 100
    Stop wasting time sifting through the misinformation and judgement on the internet trying to find the answers you need. Instead, have your own personal doula encyclopedia-on-call for a whole month and spend that time taking care of more important things (sleeping, bonding with your baby, journaling, whatever!) There is no limit to the number of questions, so ask away. This also includes access to my library of digital resources.

      Sarah Herbein was an amazing asset during a life changing event. Even though having my second child was wonderful, that did not mean that the experience did not come with stress, various emotions, and so many ups and downs. Sarah was with my family throughout the whole postpartum process. She was flexible with her time, always willing to listen, and provided me with valuable
      information to help me throughout the process.

      From taking some night shifts so that I could get some much needed sleep to helping me with bottles and laundry, Sarah was by my side when I needed her. She helped with teaching me proper ways to use a carrier, supported me throughout my breastfeeding journey (and then on my formula journey!) and provided me with a scar treatment to help with my cesarean scar.

      I highly recommend Sarah as a postpartum doula. I know that she would be a helping hand, for any family, during such a beautiful time.

      Sarah assisted me with postnatal questions and care. She truly listens to understand and knowledgably helped me learn what I needed to prepare for the postnatal season. She patiently answered all of my (many) questions about breastfeeding, infant sleeping, postpartum body changes, etc., and connected me with the resources needed. Thanks to Sarah, my anxiety went down as the fear of the unknown and that I was “missing” something disappeared. I highly recommend her! She is someone you want by your side!
