Nicole A. | Doula in Shelbyville, KY

Promised Birth Doula

    Practice overview

I am a Christian, mom of 3, wife, hobby farmer, lover of the outdoors and music! I was previously a peer counselor for a crisis pregnancy center and have always loved the support, love, education that comes with having new life enter the world. I am a big advocate of education and discovering options, truth, and empowerment through being in control of your own body. Choosing what is best for you and your baby! I have supported all birth options including home birth, water birth, inductions, caesarians, and holistic birth center births. I am especially interested in the body mechanics of labor, as my husband is a chiropractor, and am furthering my education in this area.

Nicole was phenomenal! She was dedicated to answering any and every question before and after birth including getting me the right resources and helpful info needed to have the best natural, homebirth possible. She was attentive to my needs and knew what my body was doing and how to prepare me for the next stage during labor and birth. She comforted me and assisted me in such a beautiful experience and knew exactly how to help without me asking or being uncomfortable. She was all around amazing and truly has a heart for being a doula! I would recommend her a million times!

My husband and I hired Nicole at 38 weeks and she was quick to help us out to deliver our baby only five days later. Her expertise, compassion, understanding, was everything that we needed to make our birth experience the most positive it could have been. Our birth story with our daughter, would not have been the same without Nicole. We definitely want to hire her again for future babies!

This was our first baby, and Nicole was so supportive and helpful not only during labor, but especially during my pregnancy as well. She was so knowledgable and helpful in giving advice and sharing resources any time I had questions or was trying to make decisions. I loved that she always respected and supported our wishes and decisions. I was confident that she understood our “birth plan”, supported my desire for a natural, unmedicated birth free of any interventions, and would be an advocate for us, however things ended up going. This gave me such a feeling of complete safety and trust with her. Her support during pregnancy helped to prepare both my husband and I so much. By the end of my pregnancy, I felt so much more confident, informed about and excited for labor. And I believe all of this played such a huge part in how our labor ended up going. I went into it informed, empowered and without fear.

During labor, Nicole was there for my husband just as much as she was for me. She helped him help and support me. I had back labor the whole time, and Nicole showed him how to apply counter pressure and hip squeeze. This made a world of difference coping through contractions. We had such a beautiful, positive experience, and I can’t imagine having done any of it without Nicole by our side. Can’t wait to have her there for baby #2!
