Practice overview
When my sister had her first baby, I quickly discovered firsthand just how hard it can be to navigate these variations of normal within the mysterious world of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. There is so much conflicting information, it’s HARD to shift through everything to find the options that make the most sense for you and your family.
In pursuit of becoming a doula, I decided to ditch the Google and combat fear with facts. I went back to school for Maternal and Child Health at the University of Texas Health Science Center and became certified with DONA International as a labor doula. I love providing evidence-based, full-spectrum care for people who are expecting— whether that’s prenatal support appointments, hip squeezes, or that desperately needed postpartum hug. When you select me as your doula, I am your whole-hearted cheerleader every step of the way.
If you are currently expecting and are looking for a doula in the Central Texas area, I would love to speak with you about how I can best support you through your pregnancy!

December 15, 2020 at 12:38 pm | Client reviewCarley was kind, caring, and very easy to work with. She was responsive and helped me prepare mentally for the birth I wanted to have. Our son ended up needing to stay in the NICU for over a week and she was so sweet, checking in on me and dropping off things at our house during that hard time. I would recommend her to anyone!

December 16, 2020 at 2:49 pm | Client reviewCarley is professional, warm, positive, supportive, and everything you’d want in a doula. Any concerns or desires I had were met with openness, acceptance of my thoughts, and educated responses. If I wanted to change directions, she was always willing to discuss and inform based on her knowledge and experiences. At many times Carley gave me 10x the amount of information than my doctor’s office. She ensured I knew what to expect, and what options I could consider, which was key to feeling confident and relaxed.
I asked Carley to ensure my husband felt included. Throughout, my husband was actively involved and informed, which was a huge relief for me, as I wanted my entire birth team to be aligned with each other. My husband is an extremely supportive partner and a very loving spouse, but words aren’t always the way he communicates. During the final stages of labor, the verbal encouragement from Carley along with the physical support and encouragement from my husband made for the perfect combination. I was so grateful to have Carley there in that moment giving me the words I needed to hear.
Finally, I had concerns that my ‘old school’ doctor would be an issue in the birthing room. I expressed my concerns about his lack of enthusiasm for doulas. Carley was undaunted. Her ability to stay focused on my needs and not on whether my doctor was happy to see her there was exactly what I had asked for.
If we choose to have another child in the future, I will certainly call Carley.

December 17, 2020 at 12:33 pm | Client reviewI could not imagine delivering without Carley! Let alone in a pandemic, trying for a VBAC. She balances her expertise in the birth world with an air of such comfort and calmness, holding space for both informed birth decisions and the emotional intensity of labor. She is a wealth of knowledge and was a rock during my labor, delivery, and postpartum days.

I’ve attended a birth with Carley and also partnered with her on a few other births. She is professional and courteous to each unique birth experience, and advocates for the patient. She is the perfect bridge between pregnancy and new parenthood. Her enthusiasm is palpable and I would trust her in any situation to be a grounding pillar of comfort. Could not recommend her high enough.
