Doula Tab

    Practice overview

    In 1994 I acted as a gestational surrogate for a family in Israel, giving birth to their twins. Shortly after, I started a surrogacy agency to help families and their surrogates as they navigated the surrogacy world. It wasn't long until I found myself acting as a doula, although I'd never heard the term "doula" before! When I learned about doulas, I knew it was something I wanted to do! By 2001, I shifted my focus from surrogacy to doula work.

    Care philosophy

    As a Birth Doula, I feel my role is as an educator. I want the support person as involved as possible. I have given birth to 10 children, and have been a doula for many years, so I have a lot of experience to draw from.

    As a Postpartum Doula, I assist new families in adjusting to their new roles, provide resources, reassure parents, and even walk the dog!

    Pricing packages

    Birth only (unlimited hours)
    $ 1575
    While some doulas opt to "tag out" after 24 hours of labor support, I was trained to stay with the laboring patient until birth (or until she requests me to leave). My children are grown and can care for themselves and their father if I am not home. After birth, I remain on call for 2 weeks to answer questions, reflect on the birth, provide simple in-home care, etc.

    Postpartum Hourly
    $ 52.5 /hr
    Some clients wish for a-la-carte postpartum care. A pay-as-you-go type of service. Although there is a 4-hour minimum for each visit, some clients feel four hours is all they need. Or sometimes they feel four hours isn't enough and they ask me to stay longer...or return on a different day. These clients pay $35 per hour for this service.

    Overnight Care (10 hours)
    $ 525
    Overnight care is often requested by new parents just so they can get some rest. This is not sleep training or sleep conditioning. It is merely caring for the baby overnight. Diapers, breast or bottle (I will bring the baby to Mom for breastfeeding), burping, etc. The fee is for up to 10 consecutive hours of care after 7pm.

    Prepaid Birth AND Postpartum Pkgs
    Occasionally a client hires me to be a Birth Doula AND a Postpartum Doula. I offer packages at a substantial discount for unlimited hours of labor support and up to 20 hours postpartum care.

      “Tabitha was our birth and postpartum doula. We couldn’t be more grateful to have Tabitha’s support. As a birth doula, she worked well with the medical staff and presented to us all options at every step of the way. Her knowledge and experience made us feel at ease, and had a wonderful birth experience as a result.
      Following birth, Tabitha assisted us with the care of our newborn at home, which enabled me (mom) get some well needed rest. We highly recommend Tabitha’s to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, respectful, and trustworthy doula.”

      In my role as a Manager of a large hospital based volunteer doula program, I get to meet and work with many doulas. I was lucky to have Tabitha on my team, she is one of the most dedicated doulas I know. Having Tabitha’s support means you have her focused on your success for a positive birth experience. She not only meets your needs, she anticipates them and is a wonderful educator along the way. Tabitha is passionate about making sure families have the support they need during pregnancy and birth, she is a wonderful doula who walks with you every step of the way.

      Tabitha is a knowledgeable and compassionate provider. She is an excellent communicator. Her presence is very calming and reassuring. She works very hard to provide the best care possible to all the families she supports. The birthing community is lucky to have her. I have been very honored to work with her.

      Tabby the doula is the truth when it comes to birth work. She is compassionate, thorough, and truly sincere. I have worked alongside her these past 4 years. Tabitha is an amazing community educator, birth work specialist and PAIL advocate. I couldn’t be happier serving expecting parents alongside anyone else. She is forever learning, continuing her education and levels of certification in this field. Tabby shares her knowledge to equip parents and peer educators alike. The birth industry thrives with caretakers like Tabitha in it! I can’t wait to see where her goals take her and hope I am right beside her along the way! Come on Midwife To Be!
