I have been a postpartum doula for a little over a year and I have never felt more in my element supporting mothers during this really special time. I own my own doula business and I also work alongside a birth doula, together we offer mommy meetups as well as mother blessing circles as a way to celebrate women into the next version of themselves.

I want to support and empower you through the fourth trimester. I believe with support, postpartum can be a beautiful, healing experience and my goal is to help you experience just that. I take a holistic/ physiologically based approach with my clients.

Welcoming Brittany into our home was one of the best decisions we made as new parents to a newborn & toddler. She was our village when we needed it most, navigating the new world as parents to 2 little ones and trying to take care of ourselves too. Brittany brought a positive energy into our house every time she came over, she could intuitively tell what support we needed most in that moment – from giving us a break to rest or shower, to helping meal prep, to entertaining either of the children. She was also a wonderful resource and provided great advice to us. I recommend Brittany to all of my pregnant friends to help ease their anxieties as they become new parents.

She is very knowledgeable about the birthing process and makes you feel so relaxed. I can’t wait for Jaqulynn to be my doula for my next pregnancy!!

Since I entered the path of motherhood in the year of 2014 my passion in helping expecting parents grew. I have always sincerely helped and guided individuals at their most vulnerable times specifically speaking when I served others as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room for 10 years. However, my path changed after hearing so many stories from different parents as they were entering the path of parenthood. I decided in becoming a Doula and trained through Dona International. Being a momma of two with two different birth experiences I did not want share my experience but share my knowledge, educate and empower expecting parents. In which it turns out that every pregnancy, birth and postpartum is different. I will honor your path and guide you as you are going through pregnancy and birth. I always knew I wanted to deliver naturally but I never knew the preparation it would take. When I was in labor with my second son I made it to 9cm and could no longer tolerate the pain. When I got pregnant with my 3rd I decided to hire a doula. Fully aware of what isabel has been through, I hired her. Everyone deserves a fresh start and her background had nothing to do with her expertise as a doula. Isabel did a phenomenal job preparing me for labor. I was her first client and you wouldn’t have ever known. Isabel was very attentive, caring and made her self available
She frequently checked on me,.helped me practice exercises to prepare my body and went with me to appointments. When time came she joined me in my home to labor in the tub. She did a great job giving me the exact environment we discussed, a sound machine, essential oils and back rubs.when it was time to go to the hospital she advocated for me to the medical staff when I couldn’t. She gave me the birth I wanted! I would hire her again and again!

The birth of my daughter Ramona has emphasized the importance of a respectful labor team. My support partners created a loving and safe space for me to allow my birth to go wherever it needed. I felt empowered with a sense of total freedom. There was no judgement. There was no direction, yet I felt safe with total trust in my midwife. That day I was born as Mother, with the birth of my Ramona. I offer: individualized education, emotional support, and hands-on care through pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum. To help create the personal experience you desire, I offer sensitive care for all with consideration of specific cultural beliefs and practices, LGBTQ+, BIPOC, single pregnant people, lower income.

Care philosophy

Childbirth is an intimate spiritual and physiological experience that requires respect. This beautiful process should always be delicately nurtured by compassionate caregivers. Pregnant people have the right to take control of their births, which can be a personally empowering experience. When people have these strengthening events throughout their lives, it builds confidence and resilience.

The journey into motherhood is nothing short of transformative. Yet, our modern lives lead us to believe that pregnancy and birth are something you push through and quickly bounce back from. La Madre Holistic Practice is the antithesis of modern day practices . I want to encourage you to take it slow, to really savor your pregnancy and love your expanding womb. To nourish your body and your baby with the optimal foods during pregnancy and postpartum. To move and balance your body so it may work in symphony with the mechanics of gestation and labor. To connect with your baby through breathwork and journaling while pregnant, and through loving touch and bonding once they've arrived. I believe every woman deserves a loving, knowledgeable, grounded companion by her side during pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum. My ultimate goal is to Mother you in whatever sense of the word that means to you, so that you may best Mother your baby. To mother you during your pregnancy with reassurance and guidance in making the decisions to best support your desired birth. To mother you during your labor with strong yet gentle, knowing hands and a soft voice. To mother you during your postpartum with warm, nourishing foods, healing touch and body work, and a non judgemental, open heart that is here to hold you during this most vulnerable and beautiful time. ~Mother The Mother~

My pregnancy was complicated, scary, and emotional- as many were in 2020. But it was also one of the most magical, calm, tender and balanced times I’ve ever experienced in my LIFE. Jackie was a KEY component in this balance and strength. What she provided me was more than just a service- she was a GIFT to myself and my family with the support, knowledge, compassion and always provided a SAFE space for me to lean into the woman and mother that I am and want to become.

Also- the support she gave my spouse was so helpful especially while I was on bedrest… she gave him help with nutritional meals up until my son was born 2 months early.

She is just a well rounded and loving human being!

Anissa was incredible. She supported me through having my first child which of course is a difficult experience since you really can only learn as you go. Firstly, Anissa empowered me to have the labor and delivery I wanted; I was able to have my child in a cozy birth center with no medical interventions. She helped me maintain composure throughout labor and to feel confident, safe, and strong. She was honest and straightforward yet empathetic. I really can’t believe emphasize enough how skilled she is with her “bedside manner” with an experience like labor that can be so grueling. Most of all, she was there in the very challenging early weeks (and beyond) providing excellent advice, support, and encouragement. She always encouraged me to reach out for resources and kindly, promptly, professionally provided quality ones every time I did — which was often! I can’t thank her enough. I hope that she will have availability for my next pregnancy because she was simply incredible, I will be so disappointed to work with anyone else!

In My heart I know that the most important thing to a new mother is the ability to relax without anxiety, in the first month of giving birth, not only are you feeling so many things physically with your body, but mentally, and hormonally as well. In cases like this it so helpful to have someone who will do all the household duties and make a hot meal while caring for the family so mommy can get all the rest she needs to recover.

Care philosophy

A mother who is cared for 100% and well rested during her first month after birth, is a mother who will not only be more equipped for hormone changes that occur naturally, but much like childhood trauma that my stick, a birthing trauma can do the same, a well cared for mother with all of Her and new Babies need are met, a new mother will have all the tools to overcome and prosper in motherhood.

Hi I’m Summer! I’m a Birth Doula passionate about giving parents the tools they need to advocate for themselves and their birthing choices! I first decided to become a Doula after hearing countless stories of doctors pressuring unnecessary interventions, making what should be the most special day of your life, into a traumatic experience. I was struck by how susceptible new parents can be to misinformation, and my goal as a doula is to eliminate that uncertainty and foster a loving and safe birthing environment for parent and child. Of course the most important thing is that parent and baby are healthy, but that’s not the only important thing. I believe that as a parent your instinct is just as strong as that fetal ejection reflex and my job is to help you listen to it. I absolutely love being a doula and am so excited to support more families through this amazing journey. I would love to connect so please feel free to reach out anytime!

Care philosophy

I like to let the parents take the lead and tell me what type of support they are looking for, I’m very adaptable to any type of support! I like to be super hands on through contractions with comfort measures and massage. I’m also a huge believer in the Bradley method, which is partner based support. So your partner and I would work as a team to support you!

In 1994 I acted as a gestational surrogate for a family in Israel, giving birth to their twins. Shortly after, I started a surrogacy agency to help families and their surrogates as they navigated the surrogacy world. It wasn't long until I found myself acting as a doula, although I'd never heard the term "doula" before! When I learned about doulas, I knew it was something I wanted to do! By 2001, I shifted my focus from surrogacy to doula work.

Care philosophy

As a Birth Doula, I feel my role is as an educator. I want the support person as involved as possible. I have given birth to 10 children, and have been a doula for many years, so I have a lot of experience to draw from. As a Postpartum Doula, I assist new families in adjusting to their new roles, provide resources, reassure parents, and even walk the dog!

The services I provide include birth planning support, birth partner training, prenatal yoga skills training, newborn nanny services, and postpartum doula support. I have always had a desire to care for families and started my journey as a mommy’s helper at 10 years old. From there I have continued to work with all ages. In the past year I have focused on gaining education and experience in the field of newborns and birth support. The past year I have worked with a family nannying their first child and adjusting back to working life with a child. We worked together to meet mother and baby’s breastfeeding needs as well as tools to promote sleep patterns. As I have worked with them I have focused on training myself in new skills that I wish to use expand my practice. In addition to my current experience and certifications, I am currently completing a Lactation Education Counselor Certification. I hope that I can assist you in any of these services and I am happy to discuss any needs and adjust my services to what you are hoping to get out of my services.

Care philosophy

In my practice, I strive to set clients up to feel empowered in their birth plan and identify the support team that meets their needs. Between my training as a birth doula, my prenatal yoga teacher training, and 15 years experience of supporting families with children of all ages, including infants, I would love to assist you in this exciting time of transition

A postpartum doula in San Diego, CA is meant to help the entire family and their role is not just limited to the birthing parent and newborn. A doula provides physical and emotional support to parents and siblings, but they also offer information and advice regarding how to feed, bathe, swaddle, and soothe the baby.

They also often help with postpartum depression issues, and are considered child care “consultants” rather than medical professionals. Many postpartum doulas in San Diego, CA offer a range of services that can help with parents trying to adjust to a newborn child. These services often include:

  • Sibling care
  • Assist with household chores
  • Parent-baby bonding
  • Physical and emotional recovery
  • Support to parents and extended family

A postpartum doula in San Diego, CA can have a lasting positive impact on a family and help them feel more confident about their parenting role and the way that they feed and nurture their baby. They might offer advice regarding feeding, bathing, and parent-baby bonding.

It is important to note that a postpartum doula might offer advice but is not expected to provide medical care of any kind or serve as a replacement to an accredited physician. Postpartum doulas are also not qualified to prescribe medication.

Many new parents want to know about certified postpartum doulas and how exactly they are certified. Since the demand for postpartum doulas has greatly expanded in the last several years, the number of reputable postpartum doula training and certification programs has grown in San Diego, CA. Training criteria can differ from program to program, but most follow a similar curriculum which includes core academic curriculum and practical hours and real-life care experience.

One of the most common national postpartum doula training certifications comes from DONA International. A postpartum doula usually receives about 27 hours of practical training before they are a certified postpartum doula.

There are also CAPPA-certified postpartum doulas in San Diego, CA, as well. These doulas were certified by the Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association, an international organization that certifies doulas and other childbirth educators/professionals.

As a reminder, because postpartum doulas are not trained to be a medical professional and diagnose and treat medical conditions, a certification is not required for them to practice.

As their names suggest, a birth doula’s main priority is to provide support services before, during and in the moments immediately after childbirth. A postpartum doula’s obligations usually begin after the birth, for several weeks or months. In many cases, your birth doula will also be a trained and certified postpartum doula, which can provide a continuity of care that many parents find extremely valuable.

Many parents want to know whether a postpartum doula or a baby nurse would meet their needs and expectations. A baby nurse might be focused on making sure that a baby sleeps or feeds properly, but that might be the extent of their role. A postpartum doula generally offers more holistic services for their clients.

A postpartum doula in San Diego, CA is expected to be more involved with the family as a whole. They might remain involved in sibling care or also provide emotional support to the partner as both parents adjust to becoming new parents. This may even include support for older siblings, light housework, and even meal prep. A postpartum doula provides more physical, emotional, and informational support than a baby nurse.

You can hire two types of doulas in San Diego, CA: a birth doula and a postpartum doula. The birth doula is during your pregnancy and through the birth of your child. They provide you with emotional, physical and educational support during your pregnancy, your labor and delivery and for the first few hours after your child is born.

A postpartum doula will support you for the first few weeks after the baby is born. They provide in-home assistance, including teaching you how to take care of your newborn, acting as lactation consultant, and can provide some night nanny services.
