I'm a mom of 3 whose passion began from her own pregnancies and births. I researched my way through my pregnancies and couldn't get enough, becoming a self proclaimed birth nerd. My births were transformative, each unique and beautiful. However, as so many women do, I experienced trauma and some major disappointments. I also struggled postpartum in so many ways, in huge part due to a society that no longer supports the 4th trimester and the village it takes to transition and heal. I knew how big of a difference the support of a doula would have made for me. My passion quickly grew into a calling to be a doula myself and give other women the support I wish I had. I finally took the leap to start training in spring of 2022 after finding a program built by midwives who approached birth as a spiritual process and saw the importance of making their doula's trauma informed. Trauma informed training gives me the ability to approach each client with the understanding that there is more than likely a previous trauma present. Past trauma of any kind can immensely affect the way pregnancy and birth is experienced. I'm able to give care with deserved respect and compassion and do my part in preventing further trauma. A consecuitive birth after a traumatic one has the potential to be very healing. A relationship with your doula is one of mutal trust. You should feel a connection, comfortable, and confident. Care philosophy

I trust in birth as a normal physiological process. I help prepare birthing persons for labor both physically, mentally, and spiritually. The way women are treated during birth, and if they felt emotionally supported, plays a huge factor in their satisfaction with their experience of birth. I strive to help women come into their own power and have a birth their heart desires.

Tricia started her doula journey after the birth of her first daughter about 17 years ago. She worked at a birthing center in California where she learned about birth, pregnancy, breastfeeding and parenting through the doulas, lactation consultants, and midwives who worked in the center. In 2006 Tricia decided to move to Wisconsin and trained with DONA. In 2008 she met her husband and started planning her next birth. After several attempts and a miscarriage they were finally able to have a successful home birth after cesarean(hbac) in 2009, followed by a birthcenter birth in 2013. Though her main focus was on raising her family she continued her studies, attended births and provided postpartum care for friends and friends of friends over the years. In 2022 she decided to recertify with ProDoula. She is currently studying midwifery through National College of Midwifery via their distance learning program, is training as a bereavement doula through Stillbirth Day and is pursuing childbirth education certification as well as placenta encapsulation certification. She was trained in Hipbirth- The Childbirth Method (Lori Dorman) at the birth center she worked at in California and is familiar in supporting parents with other hypnobirthing programs and many other birthing methods such as Bradley and Lamaze. Tricia is very familiar in supporting waterbirths, vbacs, birthcenter and natural births at hospitals. When Tricia is not supporting families, she enjoys traveling, camping and hiking with her husband and three children. She loves sewing and embroidery. Tricia is also an avid volunteer and was a recipient of the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020 for providing over 4,000 hours of community service. Her love and commitment to serving others as well as providing education and resources to birthing families makes her a dedicated and supportive doula in our community.

I believe that birth is a natural physiological process and that each person's individual needs should be taken into consideration during labor. This is why I believe every birthing parent deserves the attention and quality care of a doula during labor.

My journey to birthwork began before I was born, with my mother choosing an unmedicated birth. When I became pregnant, I was confident I could do the same. I am so grateful for the support I had from my family during birth and postpartum. It didn’t take me long to realize that not everyone is so fortunate. My son’s birth catapulted me past the point of casual interest in birthwork into full-blown passion. I view being a doula less as a business opportunity and more as a community service. Not so long ago, birthing people were attended by their family and maybe a wise woman. I dream of the day that the doula “business” becomes obsolete and once again becomes a natural function provided by family and friends. Outside of birthwork, you can find me out in nature, devouring a book, or cooking.

I believe birth is designed to work and how you birth will shape the rest of your life. I want you to feel fully supported during this experience and that you feel like you’re the one in charge. I also value honesty. If your birth vision isn’t aligned with the provider or birthplace you’ve chosen, I’ll say so. I provide evidence-based research but also encourage you to consult your intuition.

My birth philosophy is simple. I believe that a mother will remember how she was made to feel in childbirth. Therefore, she requires dignity, respect, and support to obtain satisfaction in her birth experience.   We hired Aubrey while expecting our first child. We had interviewed others but when we met her we knew we’d found our match! From the beginning she was so supportive of both myself and my husband (who was reluctant about a doula but she made him a believer. Now he says we’ll never have another birth without her).

  She helped me through every aspect of the pregnancy and was always available for any and every question or concern I had. I felt very prepared for the big day!

  When I went into labor she was on the phone with me all the way to the hospital and had a wheelchair waiting for me. In the room she set up candles, had snacks and was excellent in keeping the room calm and communicating our wishes to the staff so my husband could focus 100% on me. She had many labor techniques she used and always made sure she was doing only what myself and my husband were comfortable with.

  Our labor and delivery took an unexpected turn and she was a huge support throughout, kept me calm and stayed with us at the hospital well beyond what she was hired to which was wonderful and just further proves how amazing she is. She took photos for us and to our surprise made us a short birth video. It was so unexpected and beautiful. I still cry when I watch it!

  She came for two post partum visits but always made sure to communicate with me in between and checking in. I really appreciated that as adjusting to a newborn is overwhelming.

  Aubrey is so much more than a doula, she’s a friend.
