Jenn P. | Birth Doula in Ledyard, CT

Tranquility Doula Services

    Practice overview

I was called to birth work after the births of my first two children. The first of my children came after a very traumatic labor and delivery experience. I spent much of his infancy healing and wishing things had gone differently. When I became pregnant again, I knew I wanted things to go much differently and hired professional doula support. I peacefully welcomed our second child into the world with great joy for a positive, healing experience. I wanted this feeling to become something more families experienced. I wanted to help people have birth experiences they could look back on with fondness, as I was now able to do. I signed up for training almost immediately and supported my first family when my youngest son was just eight months old. When we chose to expand our family once more, we were faced with challenges as we navigated pregnancy losses and secondary infertility. We soon found ourselves immersed in the world of reproductive technologies as we underwent IVF to conceive our daughter. While it was a very difficult experience, it also filled me with a new insight on navigating pregnancy and birth both after loss, and making the transition to maternity care after graduating from the fertility clinic.

Jenn is truly the best as what she does. Jenn met with myself and my husband multiple times prior to my son being born. She listened to our concerns, wishes, and answered all questions thoughtfully and thoroughly. During my labor she was not only a support to myself but to my husband. When things weren’t going as we’d hoped, Jenn was a sounding board to us for tools on how to make the best decisions for our family. Jenn also helped set up our birthing environment how we had hoped to help make things perfect. When I needed grounding during the hard parts, Jenn was nurturing and empathetic. I could truly FEEL how much she cared about our well being. I will forever recommend Jenn to anyone expecting!

Jenn was with my family during the labour and was a constant support. We had a few sessions before the due date to prepare for correct positioning of the baby, practices to follow for easier labor and to plan out the delivery. I had an unanticipated journey through my labor, but Jenn was a guiding force and supporting me throughout. She was coordinating with the medical staff and my family and ensured that I had a positive experience. I highly recommend Jenn.

We love Jenn! It was our first baby and we wanted a natural birth. Jenn helped us come up with our birth plan and made sure that we knew it was a plan and prepared us for things that might happen in case the plan couldn’t be fulfilled. She always let us know our options and supported our decisions. She was easy to get in contact with and she was an AMAZING support when we found out about our baby’s IUGR and that I would have to be induced at 37 weeks. She was very knowledgeable about the birthing process and the resources available at the hospital for us to utilize during active labor. We will always be thankful for our doula, Jenn!
