Practice overview
When I began working with expecting families in 2011, I immediately realized how important it is to have someone by your side who believes in you, during pregnancy, labor & birth, and postpartum. As my experience grew, my deep trust in the physiology of pregnancy, labor and birth grew, alongside my gratitude and respect for the medical technology we also sometimes need. I have experience supporting natural/unmedicated births, VBACs (vaginal birth after cesarean), planned and unplanned cesarean births, high-risk birth, inductions, single moms, couples, and LGBTQIA families. I bring to each prenatal visit, childbirth class, and labor my knowledge and experience from working with many families before you, and I would love to help you create the birth experience you desire!

March 27, 2021 at 6:53 am | Client reviewMy partner and I took a month-long childbirth course with Emily, and worked with her as our doula during my pregnancy. She is a deeply experienced and knowledgeable doula with extensive training across methodologies. As first-time parents getting a late start on our family, we immediately felt comfortable asking Emily any questions we had (and we had many!). Emily listens carefully to her clients’ values and preferences, and works with everyone where they are at. We always felt comfortable soliciting her recommendations, while knowing that we retained ownership over our process. She answered our questions with evidence-based research as well as compassion, and was always easy to reach for help with decision-making during what turned into a lengthy and challenging birth. Although our hospital did not permit doulas entry due to the pandemic, she worked closely with us before the delivery and was in close digital communication across the entire two days. Her follow-up care once we got home was indispensable as we navigated breastfeeding, sleeping, and baby care for the first time. As an empathetic and experienced doula, we highly recommend Emily to parents regardless of their birthing philosophy. She is supportive of both partners throughout pregnancy, birth, and homecoming, and helped guide us through so many of the unknowns during these precious months.
