I started as a doula because of my own birth experience. I had a high risk pregnancy so I felt I had no other choice but to listen to what the doctors told me. I was induced and ended with a c section. My experience made me want to help other families know all their options for their birth. I provide both birth and postpartum support. I know how tough the early postpartum days can be so I want to be there to help mama and family adjust to life with a newborn. I love what I do and love supporting mothers.

Care philosophy

As a postpartum and birth doula, my main goal is to support mama and her family. To give the education and support that is needed to help them make an informed decision. To feel uplifted by their birth and supported during the postpartum days.

I provide unbiased holistic birth support for mother and family during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. I strive to help you achieve a positive, peaceful, and rewarding experience as you bring your baby into this world. A large portion of my work is emotional support; hearing you, sharing with you, encouraging you, reminding and reassuring you. Your body was designed for this specific purpose and my goal is to help you listen to your body and work with your contractions. To ensure that you receive the best possible care for you and your newborn baby, I will be available to you for two weeks after birth and when you are ready we will schedule a postpartum appointment to debrief and go over your birth timeline.

My love for supporting mothers started with my own story. I was a new mom, going into having her first child feeling scare, helpless, and not at all confident in my abilities as a birther. I had no idea the resources available or the choices that I could make for myself or my baby. After having my daughter, I just knew that I had to learn how I could support moms through their pregnancy and birth.

Care philosophy

I am a DONA trained Doula and my passion is for supporting mothers! I serve mothers in the Tulsa area through birth/labor doula care and postpartum doula care! I am a huge advocate for new moms and for helping their families feel ready and empowered! For me, being a doula is about more than helping your birth go smoothly- it is about helping you feel loved, seen, heard, and understood.

I believe it is a gift to be able to make a difference in the way people feel supported and cared for throughout their birthing experiences. It’s the main reason I became a Doula. To provide the support that we ALL deserve. I personally understand (and remember vividly) what it feels like to be supported vs not. I feel extremely fortunate and honored to have been trusted and invited into many birth spaces over the years. My goal is to do everything I can to make birth better. It is a mission that I continue to take very seriously.

Care philosophy

I am here for you and what you envision for yourself. I'm open to learning new cultures and ways of thinking, Which I feel puts many expectant parents at ease. I embrace how you want to bring your baby Into this world and would love to help you achieve that vision.

When I began working with expecting families in 2011, I immediately realized how important it is to have someone by your side who believes in you, during pregnancy, labor & birth, and postpartum. As my experience grew, my deep trust in the physiology of pregnancy, labor and birth grew, alongside my gratitude and respect for the medical technology we also sometimes need. I have experience supporting natural/unmedicated births, VBACs (vaginal birth after cesarean), planned and unplanned cesarean births, high-risk birth, inductions, single moms, couples, and LGBTQIA families. I bring to each prenatal visit, childbirth class, and labor my knowledge and experience from working with many families before you, and I would love to help you create the birth experience you desire!

Care philosophy

I believe that each of us can make our own best life choices given the opportunity, and that there are no stupid questions when it comes to birth, chestfeeding, and our bodies. I am passionate about demystifying pregnancy, childbirth, lactation, and postpartum body stuff alongside my clients, without an agenda.

When I started this journey I was a mom of a toddler. My sister asked for my help when my niece went into labor. She said it had been a while since she had, had any babies. As her youngest was 16 at the time. I said it would be an honor. What I witnessed that day made me realize that the birthing mom needed someone to lean on. No matter who she had in the room. When I started my certification process my mother in-law was quite ill. She was the one who encouraged me to do this. Having seen me help my sister in-law get through the pain of childbirth and come out of it successfully. She said “Holly this is you're calling”. She was a firm believer in doing what you loved to do no matter the hours because if you love what you do then it is never a chore or a job. It is what you are meant to do. I feel this is my calling in every way. My children are grown and I have been serving mom's since 2003 as a Doula. I am happily married to my wonderful husband of 27 years. I have two beautiful grown daughters. My husband and I have recently relocated to the Tulsa area. We have made a home in Owasso and I look forward to serving the area.

Care philosophy

The power of a mothers body is amazing and being able to guide mothers in the process of this is my purpose. I believe that the need for caring, sensitive and knowledgeable support during this time is becoming more and more apparent. I see every pregnancy and birth as a miracle. As a Doula I feel honored to be able to contribute my expertise to women and families.

Doula Services: FAQs

A doula is a professional that provides emotional, physical and educational support to new parents before, during, and after childbirth and into the early postpartum period. Doulas are companions who strive to give families a safe, positive, and healthy labor experience. They provide parents with evidence-based information and education on childbirth and are someone who the parent can turn to with questions and concerns about having a baby. Doulas also take an active role in collaborating with the parent to create a birth plan.

A certified birth doula offers advice and techniques to help reduce the stress that the parent often experiences during childbirth and provides you with education about different aspects of delivery and labor and what comes after.

You can hire two types of doulas in Broken Arrow, OK: a birth doula and a postpartum doula. The birth doula is during your pregnancy and through the birth of your child. They provide you with emotional, physical and educational support during your pregnancy, your labor and delivery and for the first few hours after your child is born.

A postpartum doula will support you for the first few weeks after the baby is born. They provide in-home assistance, including teaching you how to take care of your newborn, acting as lactation consultant, and can provide some night nanny services.

Yes, a birth doula can provide support during a Cesarean birth and delivery. Doulas are non-medical professionals and do not replace obstetricians, physicians, midwives or nurses. They are an additive member to the team and provide emotional, physical and informational support to the birthing parent, partner and family. It is up to you whether the certified doula can remain in the operating room during the procedure.

When you hire a doula in Broken Arrow, OK, your services typically include several in-person prenatal sessions, 24/7 phone and text support, full attendance throughout your labor, and several hours of support immediately following your birth.

A doula in Broken Arrow, OK can help you in any kind of birth. Certified doulas are able to assist parents in creating the ideal “birth environment” and help parents deliver their baby safely. A doula can provide support during the birth whether it occurs in a hospital, a home, or another birth center of some kind. Doulas are there to support you in your desired birth preferences, whether that is a preference for natural, non-medicated, assisted, C-section or anything else.

Certified doulas can also act as a liaison between you and hospital staff regarding your childbirth expectations and preferences. For example, if your preference is to have a non-medicated birth, a doula can help guide you through that process and create a personalized birth plan. A certified doula in Broken Arrow, OK does not replace medical staff (such as your obstetrician and nurses).

When a surgical procedure is required, there are some situations in which a birth doula can also remain in the operating room, although this is not an expected obligation. A certified birth doula can also assist hospital staff to improve the overall birthing experience. A doula in Broken Arrow, OK will typically stay with the parents for several hours after birth to help them with birth recovery.

  1. Give birth without the need for pain medicine
  2. Describe their birth experience in a positive way
  3. Give birth without the need for medical intervention, such as C-sections or vacuum delivery
  4. Experience a shorter labor

You can hire a doula early in your pregnancy to allow you time to get to know each other and to begin planning for your later trimesters, labor, birth, and aftercare. It is ideal to hire a doula when you are around 20 weeks along, but you can start looking for one before that.

It is never too late to hire a doula in Broken Arrow, OK; you have right up to your due date to find a doula near you and receive all the benefits of doula support.

While many people think that a doula and a midwife are the same thing, their educational background and job duties are different. Doulas are non-medical professionals who provide emotional, physical and educational support, while also offering actionable advice and guidance to new parents about how to nurture their baby.

A midwife is a certified nurse-midwife (CNM) or a certified midwife (CM). CNMs are medical professionals that are certified and licensed by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. CMs are also certified, but they do not have nursing backgrounds.

Doulas are not medical professionals; they focus on the emotional support for the parents and the family before, during, and after the birth of the baby. Their job is to provide information, advice, and support to the family not diagnose any medical conditions or provide medical advice.
