I was born in Manhattan, New York in 1985. At the age of two I was taken to Puerto Rico where I resided for my first thirteen years. During that time, I always saw my mother on her white coat going to the Hospital, and it was then I knew that I wanted to be like my mother. As I got older, I told my mother that I love babies and pregnant ladies, she said you can become a nurse to work in the labor and delivery area. It was then where my biggest dream began, of becoming that nurse my mother talked to me about. I did very well in elementary, middle school and it followed through High School and College. I have been on the honor roll in my High School years and in college. I was awarded for being on the Dean’s List all throughout my college years. The Deans of Administration decided to grant me graduation a semester early, because of my outstanding Grade point average. My career path changed a little and became a Healthcare worker as a Registered Medical Assistant whom I got certified through American Medical Technologist (AMT) for fourteen years. My major concentration was OB-GYN and Ultrasound. I went above and beyond for my patients to where patient trust was built. They always requested me to assist them during their OB visits. I am a trained Phlebotomist, and my patients always requested me to draw their blood for testing. I still felt like I wanted to be closer to my patients and not in a clinic setting, I felt like I can do more and began researching my options. One day in bible study I was introduced to a lady that called herself a doula. I wondered and asked what a doula is. She then replied, I assist pregnant women physically, emotionally, all throughout their pregnancy and physically attend during labor and delivery phases. At that precise moment I began searching on how to become a doula. It felt like the right thing to do; in addition to what I already did for my patients. I began to look and came across Expert rating, a well-known global certification, where I received my first Doula certificate. I then, continued my search into doing more. I strongly believe into providing multiple services to become a resource to my clients. I was eager to provide all services that correlated with being a doula to fulfill all the care that my clients need. I came across IAP College where I graduated as a Doula Business Owner. Not only, did I learned all the aspects of being a doula once again, but also the administrative side to be able to successfully operate a doula business. I became certified in Lactation Counseling and Educator through the . breastfeeding Center of Ann Arbor. I also became certified as a Placenta Encapsulation Specialist through Brilliant Birth Academy. Then, with the city of Milwaukee Health Department whom I worked for as a community-based doula helped me get certified as a Holistic Nutritionist. At the University of Wisconsin, I completed a massage therapist certification program to help my expectant mothers’ release stress to prevent preterm labor due to stress and reduce high blood pressure during pregnancy that can potentially lead to a health condition called (preeclampsia). I decided to implement meditation, aromatherapy, relaxation, and massage as a form to release stress. Lastly, I am a recent graduate from an undergrad program at Bryant & Stratton College Wauwatosa campus in Wisconsin, where I did my Associate of Applied Science with the major concentration in Health Service Administration. I intend to use this degree for myself in my Doula Business Administration. My mission and vision are to one day be able to become accessible by accepting health insurance. Serve clients in the Memphis, TN, and surrounding areas without having to pay out of pocket costs. Make a contract with the City of Memphis Health Department to help offer FREE services to help the underserved and help reduce fetal and infant mortality rates. To continue providing exceptional and genuine care to all my expectant families.

I began my formal journey toward becoming a doula by taking a weekend training workshop from Rae Davies at The Birth Company in the spring 2017. During that training with Rae, I was introduced to Evidence Based Birth® and was accepted into the Evidence Based Birth® Instructor program that fall. Whew! That was quite a year!! By 2019, I’d met all the requirements to officially become a DONA International certified birth doula. My continuing education includes the one day When Survivors Give Birth workshop taught by two of DONA International’s founders, Penny Simkin, PT, CCE, CD(DONA), and Phyllis Klaus, MFT, LMSW; that workshop has been incredibly helpful to my work supporting expectant parents. I also earned my CLC® from the Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice in 2020 to better provide education and counseling for families choosing to breastfeed. That makes for a lot of alphabet soup after my name, but what’s really important to me is being part of the support network that gets families off to a strong start whether it’s the first baby or the newest addition. https://cebirth.com

Care philosophy

Having me as your doula means: 1) you have had the opportunity to prepare for your birth by asking questions, receiving solid resources to address those questions and practicing comfort measures. 2) you have someone who knows you and your partner and is dedicated to being with you for your labor and birth. 3) you have people by your side for birth who fully understand your preferences

I have known Atlanta for over 10 years. She has always been a compassionate, kind and hard-working person. Throughout her time as a doula she has helped to create a well rounded and personal experience for her clients. Professionally, I have worked with her ensuring that she has diverse communication styles/techniques as well as evidence based coping skills. She is the utmost professional, and an amazing person to have on your team. I have personally recommended her to my sister for her pregnancy. As an older sister and new aunt I felt confident that my niece and sister were in highly capable hands. Atlanta was with her throughout the entire process. She provided excellent recommendations, was always available to answer questions and was an overall calming presence to have around. I would highly recommend her!
