I believe in the saying it takes a village to raise a child. I come from a long line of educators who have taught me that you without support, this thing called life can be tough. As a mom myself who was lucky to have an exceptional village, I want to be that for you too.

Care philosophy

Guiding with love. I am here to support you on your journey through parenthood. Free of judgement, and following your choices.

Monique is wonderful. She was warm, responsible, and always on time (if not early!) when she worked with us. It can be hard to trust someone with your newborn in your home while you sleep, but Monique makes it easy. She is great with babies, knowledgable about their needs, resourceful, and has great ideas/suggestions. I could not possibly recommend Monique more!

I am a certified assistant midwife, labor and postpartum doula, childbirth educator, experienced youth educator, and committed advocate for empowering families within my community. A mother of four myself, I began my own venture ‘Evana Births’ in 2018 after experiencing first-hand the struggles of birthing my own children. I now strive to pass on what I have learned to other mothers and work tirelessly under my own brand, in addition to a few others, to serve and empower women that are going through labor and postpartum.

Care philosophy

I personally know what it is to need a friend and partner during pregnancy and postpartum. I want to be that person for you! I have an enthusiasm and passion for maternal mental health and making the birth process the most positive experience a woman will have in her life through education, support, and compassion.

Evana is warm and inviting and will treat you like family. Whatever you are experiencing, is just as important to her as it is to you. Evana is so pure with a heart of gold. You can tell that she loves what she does, she puts her all into her business. She is so knowledgeable and will help guide you at any given moment that you’d need her. She is consistent. She is trust worthy. She is patient. I was never so prepared for something I never experience, because of Evana. I don’t know what my FTM experience would have been like without her. She guided me. She advocated for me. She gave me strength and protected me .Whenever I have more children she will be by my side for every one of them. The most rewarding thing of all is that my baby truly LOVES her and is so comfortable with her. It want any heart because we love her too!

Hello! I live in NJ with my husband of 8 years, and my 2 boys (5 & 2). Motherhood rocked me, changed me, shaped me, in all ways I had no idea it would.. Some days are absolutely amazing, and some days are incredibly hard. I have always prided myself on being real and raw about my motherhood journey and my own mental health struggles. Motherhood can feel lonely, but you are NEVER alone. I am very passionate about postpartum care as I myself struggled with PPA and PPD. I remember all too well the sleepless nights, trouble with nursing and supply, learning a brand new baby's needs, as well as healing my own body after 2 c-sections. I had amazing care and am very thankful to those who helped and supported me during the biggest change in my life. I knew I was meant to support others, in any way they need, as they embark on this challenging but absolutely incredible journey.

Care philosophy

My 3 main goals: 1. To promote and protect the physical and emotional recovery of the mother. 2. Help that sweet newborn adjust to life outside of the womb. 3. Take care of anything that gets in the way of 1 & 2.

A postpartum doula in Toms River, NJ is meant to help the entire family and their role is not just limited to the birthing parent and newborn. A doula provides physical and emotional support to parents and siblings, but they also offer information and advice regarding how to feed, bathe, swaddle, and soothe the baby.

They also often help with postpartum depression issues, and are considered child care “consultants” rather than medical professionals. Many postpartum doulas in Toms River, NJ offer a range of services that can help with parents trying to adjust to a newborn child. These services often include:

  • Sibling care
  • Assist with household chores
  • Parent-baby bonding
  • Physical and emotional recovery
  • Support to parents and extended family

A postpartum doula in Toms River, NJ can have a lasting positive impact on a family and help them feel more confident about their parenting role and the way that they feed and nurture their baby. They might offer advice regarding feeding, bathing, and parent-baby bonding.

It is important to note that a postpartum doula might offer advice but is not expected to provide medical care of any kind or serve as a replacement to an accredited physician. Postpartum doulas are also not qualified to prescribe medication.

Many new parents want to know about certified postpartum doulas and how exactly they are certified. Since the demand for postpartum doulas has greatly expanded in the last several years, the number of reputable postpartum doula training and certification programs has grown in Toms River, NJ. Training criteria can differ from program to program, but most follow a similar curriculum which includes core academic curriculum and practical hours and real-life care experience.

One of the most common national postpartum doula training certifications comes from DONA International. A postpartum doula usually receives about 27 hours of practical training before they are a certified postpartum doula.

There are also CAPPA-certified postpartum doulas in Toms River, NJ, as well. These doulas were certified by the Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association, an international organization that certifies doulas and other childbirth educators/professionals.

As a reminder, because postpartum doulas are not trained to be a medical professional and diagnose and treat medical conditions, a certification is not required for them to practice.

As their names suggest, a birth doula’s main priority is to provide support services before, during and in the moments immediately after childbirth. A postpartum doula’s obligations usually begin after the birth, for several weeks or months. In many cases, your birth doula will also be a trained and certified postpartum doula, which can provide a continuity of care that many parents find extremely valuable.

Many parents want to know whether a postpartum doula or a baby nurse would meet their needs and expectations. A baby nurse might be focused on making sure that a baby sleeps or feeds properly, but that might be the extent of their role. A postpartum doula generally offers more holistic services for their clients.

A postpartum doula in Toms River, NJ is expected to be more involved with the family as a whole. They might remain involved in sibling care or also provide emotional support to the partner as both parents adjust to becoming new parents. This may even include support for older siblings, light housework, and even meal prep. A postpartum doula provides more physical, emotional, and informational support than a baby nurse.

You can hire two types of doulas in Toms River, NJ: a birth doula and a postpartum doula. The birth doula is during your pregnancy and through the birth of your child. They provide you with emotional, physical and educational support during your pregnancy, your labor and delivery and for the first few hours after your child is born.

A postpartum doula will support you for the first few weeks after the baby is born. They provide in-home assistance, including teaching you how to take care of your newborn, acting as lactation consultant, and can provide some night nanny services.
