The support I offer comes in many different forms. Before birth, I teach families different positions, stretches, movements that help alleviate pains and aches, prepare the body for labor, and help the baby get into the optimal position for birth. I offer massage therapy, TENS unit, and acupressure as well. I answer any questions parents might have about pregnancy, childbirth, & postpartum and help make a plan for each stage. During labor and birth, I help mom feel empowered by encouraging her, praying, comforting her, and supporting all decisions. Birth photography is also something that I offer, either as a combined package with doula services or as a stand alone service. For postpartum, I teach mom about all the health benefits of herbs and natural alternatives to aid in the healing process. I show parents how to care for their newborn, offer lactation consultation, and can help around the house as mom gets acquainted with her newborn. I show parents all the benefits of baby wearing, and will even wear the baby myself as I get some chores done for the family so that mom can get some much needed rest.

Care philosophy

Hey there! I provide holistic support: spiritual, physical, emotional, and informational. I believe that every women deserves to feel empowered during labor and doesn’t need to ask for anyones permission to birth the way she pleases. Being a mother and having gone through it myself, I realize how crucially important it is to have professional emotional and physical support during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. My goal is that every mother feels safe, nourished, empowered, and ready to take on motherhood! I myself have experienced both a medicated hospital birth, and an unmedicated natural birth. I know what it feels like to be pregnant, and to have the anxiety and fear of the unknown take over. I know the concerns about how to care for the life of a newborn baby. I know the desire to want to be a perfect mother, and the fear of not knowing everything and wondering "can I even do this?" and "am I strong enough?". I understand all of these concerns, which are absolutely valid - and I want to take the weight of these worries off of your shoulders; so that you are not going through this fragile time alone. I truly believe that a BLISSFUL BEGINNING is possible with the right support and knowledge. I work with women wanting to have all different kinds of birth experiences (i.e., homebirths, at birth centers, or at the hospital). I also work with women who desire an all-natural birth, as well as, medicated birth. I am here to support YOUR birth. I love to bring the knowledge that I've acquired through my own experiences and training into my practice. I will continue to take trainings and keep up with the latest information, so that I am able to provide my clients with the best support possible.

Doulas also take an active role in collaborating with the parent to create a birth plan.

A certified birth doula offers advice and techniques to help reduce the stress that the parent often experiences during childbirth and provides you with education about different aspects of delivery and labor and what comes after.

You can hire two types of doulas in Springfield, MO: a birth doula and a postpartum doula. The birth doula is during your pregnancy and through the birth of your child. They provide you with emotional, physical and educational support during your pregnancy, your labor and delivery and for the first few hours after your child is born.

They are an additive member to the team and provide emotional, physical and informational support to the birthing parent, partner and family. It is up to you whether the certified doula can remain in the operating room during the procedure.

A doula can provide support during the birth whether it occurs in a hospital, a home, or another birth center of some kind. Doulas are there to support you in your desired birth preferences, whether that is a preference for natural, non-medicated, assisted, C-section or anything else.

Certified doulas can also act as a liaison between you and hospital staff regarding your childbirth expectations and preferences. For example, if your preference is to have a non-medicated birth, a doula can help guide you through that process and create a personalized birth plan. 3. Give birth without the need for medical intervention, such as C-sections or vacuum delivery
  4. Experience a shorter labor

You can hire a doula early in your pregnancy to allow you time to get to know each other and to begin planning for your later trimesters, labor, birth, and aftercare. It is ideal to hire a doula when you are around 20 weeks along, but you can start looking for one before that.

It is never too late to hire a doula in Springfield, MO; you have right up to your due date to find a doula near you and receive all the benefits of doula support.

While many people think that a doula and a midwife are the same thing, their educational background and job duties are different. Doulas are non-medical professionals who provide emotional, physical and educational support, while also offering actionable advice and guidance to new parents about how to nurture their baby.

A midwife is a certified nurse-midwife (CNM) or a certified midwife (CM). CNMs are medical professionals that are certified and licensed by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. CMs are also certified, but they do not have nursing backgrounds.

Doulas are not medical professionals; they focus on the emotional support for the parents and the family before, during, and after the birth of the baby. Their job is to provide information, advice, and support to the family not diagnose any medical conditions or provide medical advice.
