Molly D. | Doula in Baltimore, MD

TheMotherhood

    Practice overview

While pregnant with my first son I was overwhelmed by the changes in my body and my mind. It wasn't until I talked to other moms who had gone through pregnancy before that I was able to fully enjoy my pregnancy. I then loved being that person for others. In 2022 I decided to formalize this role by seeking my Doula Certification. My practice includes:

Pregnancy Support: Pregnancy support offers ongoing support for any question that may arise, as well as help making a baby registry and getting your home ready for your baby.

Birth Preparation: Using The Motherhood's birth preferences planning tool, you will walk through what to expect during labor and every potential twist and turn along the way. From this, you will receive your own birth preferences document you can share with your doctors and birth team.

Birth Support: Both in-person and virtual labor and birth support available.

    Care philosophy

I believe pregnancy and birth can be transformative, but we aren't meant to go through it alone. New mothers should be supported, cared for and loved by a community of others who have gone through this journey before them.

Molly guided us through all the unknowns of our first pregnancy including helping us develop our birth preferences. She was so helpful and knowledgeable about the pros/cons of every option. She then created a birth preference sheet we could give to our doctor! It made the process of making difficult decisions much easier. Molly has also been there for us after our daughter was born, willing to answer any questions we have no matter how small. We were so lucky to work with Molly!

As our doula, Molly has helped us prepare for a VBAC both emotionally, physically and logistically in the most deep, thoughtful and meaningful ways. Molly is constantly available for questions, big and small, and has served as such an important support to my partner and myself on this journey. Could not be more grateful for Molly’s expertise and care at all stages.

My wife and I were lucky enough to work with Molly throughout our first pregnancy! During our journey, Molly helped me think through my birth preferences and helped my wife and I talk through what support could look like during labor. She supported us in thinking through what we needed to prepare for baby, thinking through different decision points that might arise during labor and processing what supports might look like for us postpartum as well. Molly was able to attend our birth, providing consultation over the phone that night, and in-person at the hospital. She brought our birth preferences document and helped advocate for me when I was too tired to ask hospital staff the questions that I had identified beforehand. She also provided support by suggesting different comfort measures and encouraged my wife to physically support me as well. Molly was so comforting, encouraging and adaptable throughout our entire journey together!
