I became a doula after the birth of my first baby in 2014 left me disappointed and wishing for more. I decided a doula is what I needed for future births and that I wanted to become a doula to help others. I can attest to the amazing help doulas are. It is definitely my calling and passion as well. I would describe my doula style as quiet, confidence--a consistent, knowledgeable and peaceful presence in the room.

As an apprentice Midwife I have had firsthand experience watching her doula for her clients and I always recommend her for clients looking for experienced and committed birth support. She has the instinct for and knowledge of what her clients need as well as working wonderfully with both midwives and OBs. I cannot recommend Mariam Self, more highly, than to say I would hire her as a doula for myself or my sisters in a heartbeat!

Having her there made me able to endure a very quick and painful labor. Her hands, and pressure she applied, we’re like magic! She knows what she is doing! She’s very calm and supportive!
