Jessica M. | Doula in Little Rock, AR

Mothercraft Birth

    Practice overview

It has been my privilege to serve over 500 women and families from pregnancy to postpartum. I am a certified birth and postpartum doula, certified lactation counselor (CLC), newborn care specialist, and student midwife. In addition to 8 years as a professional doula, I bring a background in early childhood education and advanced training in newborn behavior and infant sleep to the table, along with hours of continuing education every year to ensure I am providing the best support possible.

A mother of four myself, I have spent a cumulative total of 9 years breastfeeding my babies, with birth experiences that include hospital birth, homebirth, and a preemie in the NICU. I am wife to a wonderful husband and kitty mom to one spoiled house cat.

I came to birth work largely due to my own birth experiences. I felt overwhelmed at the vast amount of information I didn’t know, the decisions I had to make, and the emotional and physical transformation of becoming a parent. I was fortunate to work with a midwife for my third birth that truly showed me what respectful care, compassion, and support could look like. She listened to me so completely, supported me, and helped me write my birth and postpartum story. After that, I knew I wanted to help other women the same way.

Jessica is so kind and caring. She listens and uses her wisdom to help her clients feel supported and ready for birth and postpartum time. She is quick to respond to texts, calls, and emails. If she does not know the answer, she will research it to keep you informed. I love her motherly gentle attitude that helps me feel confident that she is the best support possible for my success in any situation.

We LOVED our time with Jessica! We had a complicated birth, and Jessica’s calm support helped what could have been a scary situation. She helped us process the information the doctors were giving us and made it possible for us to choose options that worked for us. She worked with me and my partner to keep us both comfortable. She stepped in when we needed her, and stepped back when it was appropriate. I was so encouraged by her warmth, knowledge, and experience. And in the end, it was all worth it: our little one arrived well and happy!
