Practice overview
My journey to becoming a doula started with my own personal journey into Parenthood. For my first birth I had desired a low intervention birth and ended with a C-section due to a breech baby. I never felt heard or like my birth mattered to anyone. Afterwards I found out it could have been an emotional experience but I was never made aware of my choices. When we were trying for a second I hired a doula immediately knowing I wanted a vbac. My eyes were opened to the ability doctors had in pressuring me into decisions or not taking time to inform me of decisions. Having a doula helped me voice my concerns and questions and ultimately led me to a no intervention birth I had dreamed of. I immediately felt this desire to help other woman achieve the same opportunity to try for a birth they wanted and ultimately feel like their type of birth experience was not pressured one way or the other. I certified through DONA international while pregnant with my 3rd and am finally ready to start my own certified doula experience.
