Practice overview
Nessa was inspired to pursue Doula work after their grandmother's passing in 2020, as well as the birth of their baby brother in 2010 when they were 15 years old. Having a grandmother who was a delivery nurse for 40 years, as well as witnessing their mother’s pregnancy at a young age inspired a life of passion for learning about the birthing process. They are currently a student with Portland Doula love and attended their DONA international workshop in October 2022. In addition to this, they are presently enrolled in BADT's 12-week postpartum doula training, and pursuing certification. Before this they worked in a wide variety of fields, getting their degree in graphic design and illustration in 2018, and eventually working in early childhood education with toddlers and infants. In addition to pursuing doula work, they are interested in becoming peer support specialist certified and serving birthing people with trauma or substance use disorders. In their spare time, you can find Nessa spending time with all of their pets (two cats, a dog, a large catfish, and a bearded dragon!), crocheting, painting, playing D&D with their two nesting partners, or streaming Nintendo games on twitch.
