Being French I had never heard about doula before. For my first pregnancy I knew I will not have an epidural and I needed someone to guide me this is when someone recommended Mathilde. She had been very supportive during my whole pregnancy, recommended me to use some self hypnosis. She never judged me, recommended me some practice but never imposed and most of all she listen to me and my wishes. The big day I sent her a message in middle of the night and she arrived ready to assist me and be there to be my voice to all the nurse to make sure they follow my birthing plan. She always included my husband, gave him and advised him how to be the best partner ever during this delivery. I could never dream of a better delivery and better doula. I recommend her 1000%.

I have loved working with babies, kids, and their families for as long as I can remember. I was a preschool teacher and for the past 12 years, I was a nanny. I watched over 5 newborns (not all at once). I got into birth work because I believe in evidence based care for all families seeking it. I want to assist you and your new family physically, mentally, and emotionally. I'm here to hold the baby while you take some time to nap and or shower, support you in newborn care, set up a nursery, make healthy snacks, be a shoulder to cry on, an extra ear to listen, and your # 1 cheerleader! I'm definitely open to help in anyway I can, feel free to talk to me about what you're looking for! I also can provide Sibling Doula services as well!

Care philosophy

I believe that no matter what your family looks like, you deserve judgment free care during your postpartum period. There is too much parent shaming going around and I would like to change that! I believe that a parent needs to choose what is best for their family. Whether it's choosing between formula vs. body feeding, or cloth diapers vs. disposable diapers, etc I am here to back you up!

Hi! I have been working in childcare for the last 7 years, with a specialty in newborn and infant care. I recently worked with a mother who had infant twins and it was a realization of how much support the mother and the entire family need at this time in their life. So I did the work and became a certified Postpartum Doula and now would love the opportunity to meet and work for other families.

Care philosophy

I believe that a postpartum doula is there to help the entire family with the birth of a new child. They are there to help the mother heal and make the household a place of peace and order and facilitate the needs of everyone in the family during this time of change.

Emily is THE BEST! I recommend Emily whenever she is available to all of my friends. She is the most loving, compassionate, and empathetic person. I am so grateful that she was able to help me care for our daughter from her early days. I remember one instance when my daughter was very sick. It was one of those really bad stomach bugs but it was the first we ever encountered. It was all hands on deck caring for her. Emily stepped in like she was a third parent; holding her, letting her sleep on her, comforting her when she was throwing up… There were many less dramatic instances of what a wonderful caregiver Emily is. But that one sticks out in my mind as an example of her instinctual empathy. Another thing worth mentioning is that Emily is really easy to be around. When someone is working in your home, you want a person who brings energy rather than takes it. Emily’s positive presence brightens every space she is in. I wish I was having another baby so I could hire her again!

Hi I’m Summer! I’m a Birth Doula passionate about giving parents the tools they need to advocate for themselves and their birthing choices! I first decided to become a Doula after hearing countless stories of doctors pressuring unnecessary interventions, making what should be the most special day of your life, into a traumatic experience. I was struck by how susceptible new parents can be to misinformation, and my goal as a doula is to eliminate that uncertainty and foster a loving and safe birthing environment for parent and child. Of course the most important thing is that parent and baby are healthy, but that’s not the only important thing. I believe that as a parent your instinct is just as strong as that fetal ejection reflex and my job is to help you listen to it. I absolutely love being a doula and am so excited to support more families through this amazing journey. I would love to connect so please feel free to reach out anytime!

Care philosophy

I like to let the parents take the lead and tell me what type of support they are looking for, I’m very adaptable to any type of support! I like to be super hands on through contractions with comfort measures and massage. I’m also a huge believer in the Bradley method, which is partner based support. So your partner and I would work as a team to support you!

My birth and postpartum practice is nearly a decade old! I started birth work shortly after the birth of my only child and have served over 100 families since. My practice philosophy is rooted in ancestral medicine and traditional birth and postpartum practices that encourage following the intuition of the birthing person and encouraging them to trust their own intuitive wisdom. New parents are like newborn babies, trying to make sense of their new reality while caring for a new human. I am here to help make the transition smooth and easy, through hands-on and home support.

Care philosophy

I am a Traditional Postpartum Care Specialist and my philosophy is rooted in Mesoamerican practices that focus on "mothering the mother". I come from the Mexica lineage who, in Indigenous tradition, follow the postpartum practice of the cuartentena which is intensive care and support for the new parents, especially the birthing parent during the first 40 days of your new baby's life.

The birth of my first daughter was transformative as were the nine months leading up to it. With the love and support of my partner and midwife, I felt connected to my body, empowered in my decisions, stronger than I ever knew was possible, and completely overwhelmed with love… love for my new baby, love for my body, love for my support system. I knew almost instantly that I wanted to become a doula. I wanted to provide a nurturing and empowering experience for other families, and to support them through, what can be, the most transformative time in their life. I stepped away from my old career, as a middle school educator, to pursue this passion. As a former teacher I am able to provide thought-provoking, thorough, and organized resources to help you navigate the birth world and make informed decisions based on your intuition and desires. As a mother of three, I have first-hand experiences with pregnancy, birth, and motherhood. This knowledge and experience seeps into how I work with my clients. However, I honor that your experience is your own and I am here to provide nurturing, relationship-centered support. I love helping womxn connect to their body, mind, and heart during pregnancy in order to have the birth they desire and in order to stay connected to self during motherhood. Being a doula is an absolute honor. I look forward to connecting with you to see if we are a good fit for one another. Feel free to reach out via my contact page with any questions or to set up a time to chat.

Care philosophy

I believe birth is a normal, natural, transformative event and one that requires tender care and empowering support. It is an honor to do this work. As a former educator, I provide knowledge and resources during the prenatal stage. With a background in yoga, I help my laboring clients get into a relaxed state using breath and movement... to move out of their head and into a place of surrender.

Rachel has a calm, loving presence that allowed me as a birthing person to feel confident in my body’s process. She assured me in moments where I wasn’t sure I had the strength. She showed up for me with simple words and comforting touch. She truly has a gift for birth and postpartum work. Both my birth and recovery were more positive due to her expert support.

My interest in this work began as a young adult when my older sister was pregnant and I was invited to be a member of her birth team. I remember being overwhelmingly awed by the birth process and the human body. My interest continued as I started on the path to become a labor and delivery nurse. I found, rather quickly, the path of becoming a L&D was too clinical for me and did not feed my soul how I wanted. While in search for what was next, I became pregnant myself. I was confident I had wanted a home birth with a midwife and a doula, but ended up having a planned hospital birth due to a misdiagnosed medical condition. My birth was not at all what I wanted it to be. I was not given options, I was not given information, I was not given time to think and it left me somewhat scarred. After my daughter was born, my husband was only able to take a week off of work. I also had my stepdaughter to take care of and I felt like I didn't have time to heal, establish a good breastfeeding routine, or bond with my darling girl. I remember feeling completely unsupported. It was then that I decided I wanted to help mamas to have empowered births that they wouldn't need to emotionally recover from. My experience shaped my doula practice. My experience makes informed consent my top priority with my clients as well as bonding time within the family and breastfeeding support. I love what I do and I love helping each family I work with to have a more fulfilling experience.

Care philosophy

My goal with all of my clients is to ensure they feel informed, empowered and encouraged to advocate for themselves.

I never had a doula with my first child but I’m so grateful to have met Sabrina with my second child. I wanted a different experience this time around and she went above and beyond for me. Not only is she full of knowledge but she is also patient, kind, supportive, non judgmental. She has the energy and passion to make you excited about what can be a scary process especially after having experienced a traumatic first birth. She is nothing short of amazing and I’m so lucky to have had her with me during labor and birth. Thank you Sabrina!

Welcome to TzimTzum Doula. My name is Anna Calamaro and I am a DONA International trained birth and postpartum doula. I believe pregnant encompasses the body and the soul. Pregnant should not just be a physical condition to be endured; rather, it should be a meaningful phase in your life. When I am not working as a pastoral care professional at Cedars-Sinai or taking classes in rabbinical school, you can find me binging birth videos on YouTube! I marvel at the miracle of birth. After reading Anita Diamant’s The Red Tent, the strength and wisdom of women giving birth and assisting the birthing process awakened something within me. I realized birth work was meant to be at the core of my career. Being a doula encompasses so many facets of my personality: the caring, nurturing and supportive side, the educator and lifelong learning side, and the spiritual, ritual, and community building side. While embarking all these parts, I recognize that there are times when the most important role I can play as a doula is to be still, quiet, patient, and calm in order to support the birther and help them embrace their own personal experience.

Care philosophy

Each birth is as individual as the person birthing, and each family has unique desires and hopes for the birth of their child. As your doula, I will support YOU and your partner in your desires for YOUR birth. I support you in YOUR birth choices, whatever they may be. I empower you through informed choice so you may empower yourself. “If you don’t know your options, you don’t have any.” (-Korte)

I decided to become a doula after I was present for my youngest sister’s birth. I was inspired and felt called to work in this area. I plan to further my education and become a midwife. My mission as a doula is to remove trauma from the birthing experience and replace that with empowerment and peace.

Care philosophy

I truly believe that birth is a beautiful, natural thing. Women’s bodies were made to give life and I am here to support that journey. My life’s joy is to empower birthing people so that they may bring their children into the world with gentleness and compassion. I believe that birthing people possess their own innate wisdom about their bodies and their babies. As a birthkeeper I offer non-judgmental support throughout the perinatal period. I am a trained Carriage House Birth and DONA International Birth and Postpartum Doula, a DTI certified Childbirth Education Instructor, and a beng-kung belly binding specialist.

Care philosophy

I witnessed my sister's birth at home in Bali, Indonesia. At 3-years old, the powerful energy was transformative. My innate gifts combined with my formal education and passion for birth guided me to birth work. I wear many hats in this role: educator, assistant, and friend. It's my deep belief that in respecting birth and parenthood we honor birthing people, their babies, and life itself.

I love to work with families who are open to change and growth; who believe that a safe childhood holds the secret to a healthier planet. As your Los Angeles birth Doula my mission is to inform, empower and advocate with you as you labor, birth and become a parent. As your Birth Photographer/videographer, I aspire to capture the joy in witnessing the unfolding pace of a family’s rhythm. Not only pregnancy through birth but also the slow, yet furious days following.

Care philosophy

I am passionate about babies. I believe they are the beginning of all that is life. The source of love and healing power to change the world. Each birth is the origin of a new cycle that can transforms our universe, thus I believe that to make peace with our past, we need to start by healing our births and by giving mothers the care and support they deserve to birth on their own terms.

I am a birth worker and power embodiment alchemist that uses a variety of skills and modalities to holistically and radically empower my clients during one of the biggest adventures of their lives. I began my career empowering women as a sexual assault counselor in the non-profit sector, over a decade ago. I have since volunteered with and worked for numerous domestic and international non-profits—the majority of which have specifically served to protect women’s rights and/or inspire women-centric socio-economic development. In June of 2016, I—with my partner by my side—was able to confidently navigate a traumatic birth experience and postpartum period with my daughter, Elliotte. The experience opened my eyes to the important role that a supportive birth team plays in taking charge of one’s birth story. Now I am able to look back on that time with great pride. After training as a birth and postpartum doula with DONA International, I created Alayla Birth. The name “Alayla” is derived from the Ancient Greek goddess, Ἀλαλά (or Alalá), who was the female personification of the battle cry, or call to arms. It is also the middle-name that my partner and I gave our daughter after we not only survived, but thrived after late-onset preeclampsia, a pre-mature and unplanned cesarean birth, and a rocky first year as a result of policy-before-patient care. My experience is what inspires the Alayla Birth approach to birthwork, and the name honors the fighting spirit that I hope to nurture in all of you.

Do you feel lost, scared, and/or nervous when you think about giving birth? Well, look no further! I have can ease these thoughts and give you the knowledge and support so you will have an empowering birth. As a doula, I am with you before you go to your birthplace, for the entire labor, and afterward. I provide advice, knowledge, suggestions to be comfortable, provide compassionate support, and caring reassurance. I believe our connection with each other plays a vital role in our experiences during the birth process and all attributes of parenting. One very important part of connectedness is becoming aware of, honoring, and caring for our own self-care. Discovering and connecting to how our body and mind work in conjunction will enhance the labor and birth process. Being present with our loved ones and children creates the space for deep innate interactions. Your birth will be totally awesome and empowering with proper support from me. My clients often say that giving birth with my support was magical and empowering.

My philosophy on birth is that it is a normal, natural process that your body was perfectly designed to experience. My desire as your doula is to support you in a way that allows and encourages you to achieve your goals and desires for birth, whatever they may be, as well as one that keeps mom and baby healthy.

I completed my postpartum doula training in 2013 after working as a nanny for several years. After supporting families as a postpartum doula I was inspired to complete my birth doula training. I feel honored to hold space during such a transformative time and I look forward to supporting you on your journey. I grew up on the East Coast but I have called California home for the past seven years. Besides being a doula, I enjoy cooking, hiking, drinking tea, vintage thrifting, arts & crafts and spending time with my partner and cat.

I offer a wide range of services that all fall under the umbrella of "guide and teacher." As a birth doula I provide information and support in decision making. As a Childbirth Educator I provide more formal resources and information in a community building and lecture setting. As a Postpartum Doula I provide a safe harbor for all the questions, large and small, that plague new parenthood. I am lucky to call Birth work my calling.

Care philosophy

Helping families prepare for parenthood in all it's iterations. I am here to support body autonomy and choice. Feeling in charge of our bodies and babies is how we avoid trauma in the pregnancy and birth space. Surrendering to the process and maintaining body autonomy creates a safe and positive birth space.

A postpartum doula in Santa Ana, CA is meant to help the entire family and their role is not just limited to the birthing parent and newborn. A doula provides physical and emotional support to parents and siblings, but they also offer information and advice regarding how to feed, bathe, swaddle, and soothe the baby.

They also often help with postpartum depression issues, and are considered child care “consultants” rather than medical professionals. Many postpartum doulas in Santa Ana, CA offer a range of services that can help with parents trying to adjust to a newborn child. These services often include:

  • Sibling care
  • Assist with household chores
  • Parent-baby bonding
  • Physical and emotional recovery
  • Support to parents and extended family

A postpartum doula in Santa Ana, CA can have a lasting positive impact on a family and help them feel more confident about their parenting role and the way that they feed and nurture their baby. They might offer advice regarding feeding, bathing, and parent-baby bonding.

It is important to note that a postpartum doula might offer advice but is not expected to provide medical care of any kind or serve as a replacement to an accredited physician. Postpartum doulas are also not qualified to prescribe medication.

Many new parents want to know about certified postpartum doulas and how exactly they are certified. Since the demand for postpartum doulas has greatly expanded in the last several years, the number of reputable postpartum doula training and certification programs has grown in Santa Ana, CA. Training criteria can differ from program to program, but most follow a similar curriculum which includes core academic curriculum and practical hours and real-life care experience.

One of the most common national postpartum doula training certifications comes from DONA International. A postpartum doula usually receives about 27 hours of practical training before they are a certified postpartum doula.

There are also CAPPA-certified postpartum doulas in Santa Ana, CA, as well. These doulas were certified by the Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association, an international organization that certifies doulas and other childbirth educators/professionals.

As a reminder, because postpartum doulas are not trained to be a medical professional and diagnose and treat medical conditions, a certification is not required for them to practice.

As their names suggest, a birth doula’s main priority is to provide support services before, during and in the moments immediately after childbirth. A postpartum doula’s obligations usually begin after the birth, for several weeks or months. In many cases, your birth doula will also be a trained and certified postpartum doula, which can provide a continuity of care that many parents find extremely valuable.

Many parents want to know whether a postpartum doula or a baby nurse would meet their needs and expectations. A baby nurse might be focused on making sure that a baby sleeps or feeds properly, but that might be the extent of their role. A postpartum doula generally offers more holistic services for their clients.

A postpartum doula in Santa Ana, CA is expected to be more involved with the family as a whole. They might remain involved in sibling care or also provide emotional support to the partner as both parents adjust to becoming new parents. This may even include support for older siblings, light housework, and even meal prep. A postpartum doula provides more physical, emotional, and informational support than a baby nurse.

You can hire two types of doulas in Santa Ana, CA: a birth doula and a postpartum doula. The birth doula is during your pregnancy and through the birth of your child. They provide you with emotional, physical and educational support during your pregnancy, your labor and delivery and for the first few hours after your child is born.

A postpartum doula will support you for the first few weeks after the baby is born. They provide in-home assistance, including teaching you how to take care of your newborn, acting as lactation consultant, and can provide some night nanny services.
